Penelope gasped at the hug, unsure of what to do at first, before cautiously returning it. "L-Let's get you sitting down..." Her voice was gentle as she encouraged her friend to take a seat.
Swallowing down her sadness, Mallory managed the strength to sit herself down without a fuss, but not enough to let go of Penelope. It would quickly become apparent just how rigid the junior doctor's body was; her every muscle was tensed from too much stress and not enough sleep. Pausing to consciously regulate her erratic breathing, Mallory took the time to search her whirlwind of emotion for the correct words. "I-I'm scared, Penny, I'm scared- I-" Mallory stuttered, briefly losing her voice in another bout of silent sobbing.
