"Once Upon a Time..."

---

She said this will help.
She said this can help.

But I don't believe her.

She knows how to stop this.
She says she can stop this.

But I can't believe her.

The risks are too high, I say.
The danger is too great, I say.

You have no idea what you're up against.

A familiar man walks in.
A familiar man wants in.

You have got to be kidding me.

He has a score to settle here.
He says he wants to join us here.

Is there any way to stop him?

There is no way to change their mind.
There is no way to stop them from this.

Is there any way to stop this?

Is there really...a way to stop this?

Summer came and went, as it does every year. But this particular summer was either the longest or shortest of your life, as what follows after is what will be the most important year of your life: Senior Year. This is the biggest year of high school, as you will be fully committing to your destiny, just as your parents did before you, and their parents did before them. It's exciting, and even a little bit scary, but you know that no matter what, you'll be prepared, for you're going to the one place that will teach you everything you need to know.

Ever After High.

Founded in 1812 by Headmaster Grimm, this school helps the future characters of fairy and folk tales ready for a future of fulfilling their role. Other schools in your realm help those with fates of lesser significance, such as minor nameless characters, but you? You carry a role that is very important to your story...and its survival. If you choose to give it up, then you and everyone else in your story could vanish! But luckily, no one will do such a selfish thing as that. Everyone has a part to play, and everyone will do so...especially since Legacy Day is at the end of this first week. That's when you sign yourself to your destiny for good, and the rest of the year will be used for final preparations for the life waiting for you.

However you arrive to school, be it carriage, or flight, or magical transportation, or even just walking, it feels good to be back. The same people you've known since freshman year are here, as well as the same teachers you've been in classes with since your first day. There's an air of sophistication here, and of enchantment...though to you, that's just normal. After all, your life is considered extraordinary to mortals, but it's just second nature here.

maxresdefault.jpg

The school courtyard is where you arrive, dropped off and ready for your year at this school. The Village of Book End is just a fifteen minute walk away, in case you want to go to the Hocus Latte coffee shop or do a bit of shopping before noon, when you must meet back in the courtyard for the senior welcoming ceremony with Headmaster Grimm himself. The rest of the day is a free day, save for a party that you are sure will be hosted tonight; it's a tradition that when a member of the Medici family becomes a senior, they host a party for the rest of their classmates. Fun stuff!

For now, there are a couple of things you are more than welcome to do, such as:

  • Go to the dormitory and get settled in your room
  • Find your classroom and maybe visit with your core teacher
  • Take a visit to the Village of Book End
  • Mingle and chat with your classmates
Oh, though there is one thing you must do: you need to choose your elective. Debate, Cooking, Bookball, Gardening, or Peer Mediation...those are your five options this year. Make sure to sign up for one, or they'll assign you to whatever elective needs more people.

With all that's been said and done...welcome to Ever After High. We're glad to have you back.

A cold chill had followed the carriage that was now heading off again leaving behind its passenger, princess Pyry. Another year...well not just another year, the final year. "And with this it will be over," The girl spoke softly to herself as she made her way towards her dorm area.

As she walked into the school Pyry noticed a paper about electives for this year. She made a mental note to sign-up for debate before the time ran out. She found her room easy enough and set her luggage on the bed. Might as well get to organizing her things before someone else came to disturb her.

The sound of an armored horse made its way up the road leading to the school. It was clad in white with a Red Cross, and the woman on top of it was similarly clad. In her hand was a spear with a flag dangling from it.

Georgia slowed the horse and raised her spear as she made her way towards the school so as not to cause an incident. She raised her helmet and took in the sight. This would be the last year she would be able to do this, so she had to make it count.

She grabbed her saddlebags from the back fo the horse after tying it up, and made her way inside. She wanted to unpack and get set up before anything else. As she entered, she clutched her rosary beads in her hand and said the Pater Noster under her breath.

She made her way up to her dorm, placing the bag on the bed and taking a deep breath. She brushed off her tabard and took a step into the hall to stretch.

"Hmph, this outta be one hell of a year." It was still rather dark as Hunter left the house near the brink of dawn. Feeling ever so nervous about the coming year, and especially for what comes after, he needed time to wander and meditate. Taking out one of his signature huff and puff cigarettes, Hunter began to dull his senses and clear his head. "How am I going to do this? To go school again with people who hate me, fear me. I can't even begin to look at the pig triplets or even Angel without thinking about what's to come." He paused to take another puff. "Just relax Hunter, you've got another year to find a way out of this. You can do it." And with a bit of forced hope, he made his way to school.

Along the way, he stopped by the deli to pick up lunch for later, the usual Ham and Swiss sub. He wandered the courtyard for bit, looking for the building that contained the Villains class, much to his dismay. The elective class he signed up for was cooking. Though he was more than strong enough for bookball, no one in his family can cook, and he's sick of the bland food. Though the more he thought about it, the more he realized how uncomfortable his peers will feel with him learning how to cook. Thankfully, most of them shouldn't be on the menu in the future.

Eventually Hunter found his dorm and took a moment to settle in. He only hoped that his roommate wasn't someone related to his story.

"Of course it's you..."
Georgia found Pyry starting at her from the door to Pyry's room. "Who else sounds like an army stomping through the halls..." Pyry didn't meant to sound as curt as she did, but some times she just couldn't help herself.

Angel walked to school, though not alone. His mother had tagged along with him to make sure he remembered where to go, as embarrasing as it was.

"I'm fine, mother." He muttered, once the school came into view, turning on his heel to face her, he grinned.

"Well, knowing you, you'd spend your whole morning at that coffee shop eating all of their pastries." She sighed, hands on her hips and a shake of her head as her son laughed it off.

"I really like bread, and pastries are too good to pass up! But you won't have to worry about me from here on out alright?" Despite reassuring her, a part of himself worried about this year. It made him quite nervous really. Feelinghis mother ruffle his dark hair caused him to look up and wordlessly she turned and started to head down the road.

"Don't go getting into trouble!" Was what she said last, and huffing Angel turned and headed to the Village of End Book with a small hop in his step, likely to get something to snack on before checking out his dorm or heading to class. He wanted to take up cooking this year, mostly because he was sure you could eat in that class, and muttered a reminder under his breath to do so sometime that day. First, food and exploring.

"Of course it's you..." Georgia found Pyry starting at her from the door to Pyry's room. "Who else sounds like an army stomping through the halls..." Pyry didn't meant to sound as curt as she did, but some times she just couldn't help herself.

@Minerva
Georgia would pause in her motion before bowing. “Ah, Mea Culpa, Pyry. I didn’t realize you had arrived.” She said with a polite bow. “I’ll be more quiet.”

❝ Keep it together, it's just the first day back... ❞ Crescent mumbled to herself in a near-silent voice, stepping off the carriage wagon that her family had sent out to get her here in the first place. She didn't say a word to the nameless servants that went along from the same carriage and carried off her baggage to her respective dorm. It was the same as always since she's been attending Ever After High, but the weight on her shoulders felt... unbearably heavy this time around.

❝ Crescent-sama, we are to depart to the Houraisan residence once your belongings are to be in your dorm. Shall we accompany you to your dorm then? ❞ One of the servants spoke up and inquired her if she was headed to her dorm. Crescent was used to this, her entire life has always been this way.

❝ Ah... I... I'll have lunch before that, actually. And um, there's no need to accompany me. ❞ The princess heir managed to answer, watching awkwardly as the servant bowed to her in response before moving the last of her bags toward her dorm. With that out of the way, that would probably be the last time she would be treated as royalty until it was finally time for her. She knew what she was getting herself into, so it was fine. For now, Crescent had some time before noon, and she didn't happen to eat anything at home before she got here. So she started walking to the Village of Book End, which shouldn't be so much of a drag if it wasn't for the fact that she was wearing one of those long-skirted kimono dresses.

Along the way, she spotted a familiar face headed the same way. To be fair, Crescent found most students in the same class as her familiar with how this was their senior year after all. And well, the idea of having a quiet lunch by herself wasn't all that appealing, and having lunch with those overly obedient and nameless servants from her family's residence wasn't any better than that.

❝ A.. Angel! Hi! ❞ She blurted out to him in an awkward tone, especially from how she started saying things without rehearsing said things in her head first. The heir had to say something else quick to make up for that sudden greeting.

❝ How was your... summer break? I mean, how have you been after last school year finished up? ❞ She was really trying.

Stopping mid-step as he was greeted, amber eyes landed on Crescent. "Oh! Hello, Crescent!" He greeted, almost surprised. When asked about his summer, he shrugged momentarily.

"My summer was alright, I suppose. My mother nagged at me about chores, and my grandmother nagged at me about eating so much bread, but otherwise it was nice. How was your summer?" Angel asked then, slowing his walk so that he could walk beside her to make talking a bit easier.

"Oh, it was fine. We went to Israel and Rome for some family history education, I started taking some fencing courses." She shrugged and her head tilted slightly to the side. "How was yours?"

Well, this was it. Senior year.

Returning to Ever After High at the end of each August was never an event Mallory enjoyed. The helpless anticipation, the packing of belongings both functional and sentimental, heartfelt goodbyes shared between family - but this year was different. With Legacy Day looming ever nearer, Mallory took her first day head-on. Heart pounding and backpack filled to bursting, she left Vancouver behind; perhaps forever; with a smile on her face and pep in her step.

The trek itself was never an issue, and this year was no different. The natural world was the one thing that still made a lick of sense in the land of fairytales Mallory had miraculously found herself caught up in, and the hours she spent travelling it every Autumn helped to ease her into the coming year. Mallory made no stops, giving passersby a fleeting hello, choosing instead to lose herself in the scenery of dawn as it rolled by.

As her journey neared its conclusion - Ever After High visible on the horizon - Mallory kept pace. Weaving through the crowd of early-bird students and the traffic of horse-drawn carriages, she paid them all the same mind she had those on the road as she strode into the school and made a bee line for the dorms. Slinking quietly into her room to avoid the burgeoning drama between Pyry and Georgia, Mallory carefully closed the door behind her, and breathed a sigh of relief.

Stepping out of her worn-in boots, she set them aside neatly by the door before letting her hefty backpack slip off her shoulders, and haphazardly slinging it onto her bed, before slinging herself alongside it. Rummaging through her pack, she pulled out a framed photo of her, her brother, and her mother. Gazing into it, Mallory smiled. Then the glass frame cracked, and the colour in her face was drained. She stared at the broken frame with a hollow smile awhile longer, before setting it face-down on the nightstand and burying her face under a pillow. Surely, a good omen.

"
First day, nearing the final moments of your life... you have to make it count." With that thought in mind, Olive took her time when exiting the carriage she traveled in. Forcing a smile on her lips, she turned to her faithful friend and servant who's been with her for practically her entire life. Her heart ached knowing that this was probably going to be the last time she'd see him. But she had to be strong.

gRvYibw.jpg

"Thank you for everything, Arno. You have been nothing but kind to me. I don't know how I can ever repay you." Goodness, was it difficult to keep up the façade.

Arno gave a big smile of his own and shook his head in response. "Knowing that you will fulfill your destiny is repayment enough, Your Highness. I will miss you." He wiped a tear that formed in his eye, grin unwavering.

At that, she embraced him in a tight hug, replying with an "I'll miss you too."

After releasing him from the embrace, he retrieved her luggage from behind the carriage. "You've brought a rather large luggage with you this time... would you like me to assist you to your quarters?"

"I can manage, Arno. Please give my regards to my brother, will you? He was too upset for a proper goodbye and avoided me like the plague before I left."

With a curt nod, Arno bowed his head and they both bid their farewells. Arno, returning to the carriage, and Olive leaving for the dorms to drop off her luggage and hide inside her room for a spell. If she stayed with him a moment longer, she would've broken down and cried. That would've been embarrassing.

Arno was right, though. Her luggage was pretty large. Nearing the entrance of the dorms, Olive found herself struggling to carry her luggage. One step after another she grew tired, yet she pushed herself at least make it to the door. However, she inevitably made a misstep and accidentally tripped (on nothing, really) and fell forward atop her bag with a loud

"OOF."

Whooops.

She hoped no one witnessed her accident.

@Dorms @Yun Lee

After taking a moment to settle in, Hunter exited his dorms for some more fresh air. He simply couldn't stay out any longer. As he exited the dorms he noticed a girl struggling with some luggage. He recognized her as Olive. She always seemed nice enough, but he never really talked to her. His usual instinct is to avoid people, but he couldn't just walk away while she struggled. With a sigh, he approached her. "Uh, hey there. Olive right? Mind if I give you hand here?"

"Olive!" A familiar voice called out to the girl, and looking up, she would find it belonged to Mrs. Charming (Queen Charming? Who knows...), the Damsel Course teacher. "Don't tell me somebody left something lying around outside already..."

Seeing Hunter there, she smiled at the young man. "Thank you, Hunter. That's awfully kind of-" Her nose wrinkled up, as is smelling something putrid. "...you weren't smoking, were you?"

Taking note of Georgia and Pyry, she glanced at the two and smiled. "Good morning, girls, and welcome back!"

Mallory's door opened very softly, and another girl walked in. Dressed in black pants and a dark grey sweater, the girl known as Penelope Miller gave her new roommate a tiny wave. "H-Hello, Mallory..." she greeted, carrying her small suitcase to her own bed. She took a moment to try and think up a good thing to say next. "It's nice to be roommates this year."

The Village of Book End was a lovely little town just over a bridge from Ever After High. Akin to what the mortals would call a college town, this was a recreational area, full of shops, restaurants, cafes, and even a movie theatre. It seemed quite a few places were closed at the moment-probably due to this being the first day of school. This entire week was something of a holiday, what with Legacy Day being just around the corner. Fortunately for Angel, the local cafe seemed to be open.

"Angel! Crescent! Hey!" A girl called out to the pair, rushing up to the two. Dressed in a flowing purple dress, the unmistakable fashion of Rochelle Blackwood gave her away in an instant, as did that long braid of hers. "Good morning! You guys wanted to get something to eat too, huh?"

"Mhm. Luckily it looks like that cafe's open too." Angel spoke up, pointing to it. He was glad, since everything else was closed. The cloaked young man turned to his companions then.

"Say, what electives are you both planning to take?" He asked, deciding to try and strike up a conversation. He could take a guess for Rochelle, but he didnt mind hearing her out either way.

Hector's heart pounded. Adrenaline coursed through his veins. Not only was it finally time for his senior yeat, time for him to sign his name into the Storybook, but it was also the year to make his father incredibly proud. Even if school had ended, training hadn't ended for Hector over the summer. A few miles cross country to reach the school were no problem at all for an athlete and son of a demigod hero. He ran to the school with everything he needed for the year strapped to his back. Raised like a soldier, there wasn't much in the bag anyway.

Hector weaved his way through the crowd of freshmen and made his way to the dorms. He hurried up to his room. He set down his stuff and left just as quickly. He didn't even stop to check if Jay was there to say hello. He had more important business at the moment.

Slowing from a run to a brisk speedwalk, Hector Louis made his way to homeroom early, hoping for his teacher was there early. He needed to talk to Pecos Bill about signing up for Bookball this year.

"Maybe I should've accepted Arno's help after all..."

She pushed herself off her fallen luggage, straightening her clothes after she finally stood up. Upon hearing someone speak her name, she took a sharp intake of breath and turned to where the sound originated from. A boy whose name was... Hunter(?) offered to help her with her luggage, at which she gave a bright smile. "—I don't mind!"

Olive then looked at Mrs. Charming, and inwardly laughed at her comment about Hunter's smoking. Seems she had a great sense of smell.

"Thank you, Mrs. Charming." She said with another bow and a smile. "I hope your summer went well, ma'am!" She waved to Olive. "Oh! Olive, do you need some help?"

Hunter smiled back at Olive. It wasn't too often that he received smiles from his peers. He started picking up the luggage when Mrs. Charming walked by. She always greeted him with a smile, and she never failed to call him out on his smoking. It's not that he particularly enjoys it, it just helps him focus. "Good morning Mrs. Charming. And yes I was ma'am. If you could smell every living thing in a 3 mile radius, you'd want something to drown it out too!" He chuckled light-heartedly before turning his attention back to Olive, luggage now in his hands. It wasn't very heavy for him to lift by himself. "Now, where exactly are we taking this?"
