Rue
Acting Maniac
On the outskirts of New Eden, just beyond the social border of the town of Fairharvest, was a lake. While not terribly hidden from the world, it held an air of seclusion, as if it were a place long since forgotten.
On one edge, that closest to the town, was the far edge of the forest that the loggers earned their work in. The trees grew dense just beyond the lakeside, but within a dozen feet or so, nothing but soft green grass seemed to spring from the soil. As the forest’s edge wrapped around the lake, the number of trees grew less and less, simply stopping with about a third of the lake’s shoreline meeting an open plain. In the far distance, long grasses waved in the winds that swept the upper branches of the trees.
Within the perimeter of the lake, almost dead center, were three flat stones. Together they formed the points of a small triangle, and were several yards from the shoreline in all directions. From the ground, the lake appeared slightly oblong, but for those lucky enough to have seen it from above, it was a near perfect circle, and a blue as deep as the ocean itself. Along the shoreline grew small reeds and other water plants, lilies and others growing further into the interior, but near the center it was simply still blue waters.
