Skills and Abilities :
  • Swordsmanship : Considered one of the finest, Haltwatch has shown many ability in swordsmanship. Despite his skills, his fatigue has diminished the effect of the abilities to an extend, rendering him less capable of combat.
    1. Null Slash : a horizontal slash followed by a vertical slash that is executed at light-speed. Haltwatch needs a fraction of power to utilize, and weakens his combat capability quickly if rapidly used in short frame.
    2. Null Break : a vertical slash followed by a multitude of slashes to his front. Destructive powers sufficient to cut down a mountain at maximum power. This ability diminishes in power as Haltwatch get fatigued.
    3. Null Wrath - Heaven Cutter : a multitude of slashes to all directions to all foes that is executed at light-speed. The attack is marked by opening his sword from the sheath and the slashes only takes effect after the sword is locked into the sheath again. This ability quickly exhaust Haltwatch at his current age.
    4. Null Wipe : Charges forward quickly for 250 meter as he unsheath his blade, immobilizing foes in the path. Once he closes the blade, all enemies in the path is struck down by a horizontal-vertical slash combo. This ability quickly exhaust Haltwatch at his current age.
  • Eye Magic : Using any of these eye magic, albeit powerful, can cost Haltwatch a great deal of combat strength. This result in him fighting less efficiently if the battle is prolonged with eye magic active.
    1. Phantom : anyone who sees his eyes once will be under his illusion. This ability allows him to manipulate what the victim sees to confuse them and break them mentally. One would not be under it's effect if they're blind, or touch his body or blade. The effect lasts permanently until they leave the radius of effect (5 km) OR Haltwatch purposely discard his energy to the target OR both of his eyes cut out. One cannot realize they're under effect or not unless they're already in it's effect, which is dangerous. The effects can be negated by any anti-illusion spells. The spell is less effect the longer he used it, to the point of eye bleeding.
    2. Maxima : by sheering the mind of his target using his eye, Haltwatch can inflict mental damage to his opponent body. This ability allows him to paralyze, disable and even command enemy body parts. The effects can be negated by anti-illusion spells and through mind resistance (the control comes with whispers, the stronger one resist, the less likely to fall into). The spell is less effective due to age.

Personal Background and History :
Haltwatch had unnatural prowess in eye magic since he was young. Thanks to that, he managed to easily become a powerful general that leads a massive army of Nullmagic Empire soldiers, regardless of his link with his father, Mindwatch. Following his father death when he was 16, he took the leadership and started to change many of diplomacy actions in Nullmagic Empire. He issued a magic annihilation order since his father was slain by magical curse, which in turn caused an unhealthy situation with The Magic Kingdom (aka TMK) led by King Barlum. Barlum ordered Haltwatch to stop the issue, to the point of intervening with Nullmagic Empire's politics. Annoyed, Haltwatch decided to take an aggressive action by moving his forces, starting War of the North Front which breaks apart the entire North Front Alliance that has set peace to north in ages.

At Feralia on Summer 511 NC, the open border between Nullmagic Empire and The Magic Kingdom, begins a war that caused so many casualties at both sides by the end of war. The battle ends after Haltwatch managed to push through Barlum's army defenses and slain Harmaxis, TMK's Minister of War at Winter 516 NC.

However, the political condition keep worsening in the aftermath. Unhappy that TMK gathered allies to rally against him, he started to assemble his own allies. First off is the cooperative Shadow Empire, who is led by Arkazmone -a close friend of his father- at the time, into aiding him. At suggestion of Markslayer and Arkazmone, he negotiated with a Dwarven Kingdom that has unstable politics between 2 clans and has been like forever not a part of North Front. Siding with Sharpshoot clan, led by Hardol Sharpshoot at the time, he ordered Markslayer to obliterate Thundereye clan, the opposition. This battle ends at Spring 525 NC.

Following this, Arkazmone propose a name for the alliance, Nullmagic in respect to Haltwatch as the main leader and to honor Mindwatch who was slain by TMK, which was disagreed by Hardol at first. However, Haltwatch gave reason that Nullmagic is an equal to zero magic as they're against TMK. Hardol, not wanting to get involved in war, proposed to let him stay out of the conflict in exchange of weapon support. Arkazmone disagreed and instead offers him some of Shadow Empire territories in change of their active support and the name Nullmagic, which the dwarves really need back then, as they're a small place with extremely high population. In turn, Hardol agreed and then Nullmagic was formed, with Haltwatch as de facto leader of the alliance. The agreement is set into motion completely by Summer 525 NC.

Soon afterward, as Nullmagic assemble their army, Golden Royals, a rich force led by a greedy tyrant named Kartoka, entered Nullmagic Empire territory at Rivera. Unprepared, Nullmagic took a powerful defeat blow and decided to retreat to Shadow Mountain to regroup. After they managed to escape Golden Royals clutches, which followed by Arkazmone's scouts report that TMK has allied themselves with them (and they're still part of North Front as well), Haltwatch led a counterattack, despite numerical disadvantage. Using Rivera's rivers to split apart enemy forces by cutting the bridges to Golden Guard's capital, they managed to take back Rivera. Along with Haltwatch personally defeated Kartoka within the surprise attack. The end occurs at the final days of Spring 526 NC. Golden Guard's capital is soon taken over by Dwarven Kingdom, with a fraction given to Nullmagic Empire.

Another battle soon follows. On Fall 526 NC at Emralda, Thunder Swords have joined TMK and mount a rear attack to Nullmagic Empire. This battle almost cause a total disarray in Nullmagic forces but a sudden arrival from Magic Regime saved the day on Summer 527 NC. Kaizer Razme, a traitor to TMK, pledged his cause to Haltwatch and his allies, giving them edge over TMK and equalizes the odds in the war.

Outnumbered by Razme's arrival, Lord Zannaru, leader of Thunder Swords, ordered a full retreat. Razme's prepared betrayal however, made them unable to escape thanks to a chain of traps and ambushes, killing all important people of Thunder Swords. This battle completely destroys Thunder Swords into nothingness and Razme gained trust from Nullmagic forces. Dwarven Kingdom soon take over all of their lands. This occurs at Fall 527 NC. The battle caused North Front to cease assault upon Nullmagic positions and calmed out from the conflict.

Haltwatch manages to gather a mighty army of 122,000 men by the time Winter 528 NC is over. With his iron will to conquer TMK, he set forth the army to Mannara, the only path to enter TMK directly. Arkazmone advices against this, but Haltwatch decided already and he followed on despite all risks. Seven Stars, having allied themselves with TMK and North Front, came as the obstacle. With army of 572,000 men, Nullmagic is at numerical disadvantage, again. The two forces is only gapped by a big snowfield called Snowlyz by mid Spring 529 NC, where both party hold their position for a few months. As the winter set in, TMK army about to join the fray along with Land Tiger, a faction of North Front whose power lies in their undefeatable Cavalry. Just as the battle about to turn into a defeat if the cavalry charges on Spring, Arkazmone gave Haltwatch a great idea.

With musket technology, which is new and dwarf exclusive at the time, Arkazmone set 5 layers of musketeers in the entire path that, thanks to blizzard, the enemy can't see the tactic at all. Dwarves are trained to work under difficult terrain and hazard, which allows the construction to be finished before Spring arrives. As the spring enters the fray, TMK and Land Tiger arrives and the enemy charges through the field, not expecting of muskets, Haltwatch commands the musket to open fire and slaughter all the cavalry and many of enemy infantry, marking the power of muskets over cavalry. This is known as Tiger Cavalry 530 Fall in Nullmagic history books.

Seven Stars, realizing the danger of imminent defeat, surrenders themselves and betrayed TMK forces in the mist of chaos at Mannara. The betrayal caused TMK to loss many of their troops and forced to retreat far deep into their territories. Haltwatch accepted Seven Stars' betrayal and add them to his army.

Advancing forward, they reached TMK's front door. Fallen Mage has his elite forces on the line to blockade any advance from Nullmagic. At first, Haltwatch tried to use the superior numbers but as soon as he saw many of Seven Stars and Nullmagic troops perished before Fallen Mage's army of magician, he pulled back. The magicians' rain of flames make short work of his army, and without dealing with that first, they cannot advance.
