You live in a world where science has progressed far more than it has on Earth, but there is one thing that has yet to be explored: hybrids.
Everyone knows not to go out alone at night, that's when they come, but you dont listen: you want to rebel.
You and a bunch of your friends suddenly faint in the street and wake up in a lab. You are told that your leader, General Kobayashi, would like to perform some "tests" on you.
You look around; you are lying on a medical table in the middle of a whitewashed room. All of the other available surfaces are covered in complex-looking machines, bottles of brightly coloured liquid, and sketches. You get off the table and you see that the sketches are of wolves and bears. Soon, however, you realise they're not animals. Or - not entirely. They have aspects of animals, like fur, tall ears, tails and claws, but they also seem to have some human features. Suddenly, a door you didn't even notice slides open, and a clipboard-bearing woman in a slightly-too-clean lab coat walks in. She smiles a fake, plastic smile and takes your hand, leading you out the room and into another, not too different from the last, only instead of counters and microscopes, there are people. Ordinary people like you. They all look slightly messy and tired, but they are ordinary nonetheless. Everybody looks slightly bewildered, and the woman who brought you in suddenly speaks in a clear, hollow voice.
"Greetings, all. Just stay here for a while. We'll take some of you later for testing. And don't worry - we will feed you. If you need to rest, there are some mattresses over there." Then she swiftly leaves.
Suddenly, you realise something you hadn't before. A disconnection.
You don't remember a thing about your past. You dont know who you are.

Aratani felt like there was some sort of ache in her heart, something or someone that she missed, but she couldn't quite recall it. She pushed further and further back into her memories, her head throbbing increasingly, before she gave up. There was nothing. No memory of anything before these last few minutes. And as soon as she stopped trying to remember, her headache disappeared, and she realised where she was again. She looked up and blinked at everyone for a second, before continuing to stare into space with her one working eye.

Risina glanced around, her head throbbing and aching with pain. She was in a blank white room, No paintings, no nothing. Just an endless abyss of white. Her eyes were hurting, she didn't want to stay here any longer. Her tail flicked up, scraping against the metal floor causing her to flinch and her ears went down. Risina curled up into a ball, her tail wrapping around her for protection. She didn't feel safe here, they were all going to hurt her, will they hurt her? She didn't know and she didn't care, all she knew was the sweet embrace of sleep clashing into her.

Mari ran her hand through her hair. Her face felt dry and her lips where chapped. A bead of sweat fell from her forehead, her teeth grinding at the anger and pain she felt.
She felt something furry behind her, a tail.
A tail?
What wizardry is this?
She swished it around and touched its fine hairs. It really was her tail.
She looked around at the children around her, all going through the same experience.
Mari felt like screaming.
Scream until all her problems where solved. Scream until she realised it was a dream. Scream until they went away.
So she did.
She started to scream at the top of her lungs at five second intervals. She screamed so loud that the boy next to her leapt off his mattress and rushed into a corner, shaking.

She was snapped out of her cloudy thoughts by a sharp scream, coming from a girl nearby. She wouldn't stop, and it was clearly scaring the other people. Suddenly, the scream was interrupted by a familiar hollow voice. The nurse from before stepped into the room and calmly told the girl to be quiet. She smiled a simpering smile, and muttered things like, "It's alright," "You belong here," and "I'll take care of you," until the girl was calmed. Then, she turned to the group and her smile widened, "Listen here, children, don't worry about who you used to be. This place is somewhere where you can be reinvented, and discover who you truly are. Just listen to me, Hina Ogawa, and soon you'll be quite content." She span on her heel and walked out, clipboard clutched tightly to her chest as she flipped a few pages and began to scribble. Unbeknownst to everyone else, she was noting down people's behaviour and reactions to the screaming.

Luna stood there, trying to remember. She felt like a part of her was ripped from her... But what was it? She took shaky breaths, trying to keep herself from panicking. She couldn't remember anything of her past. Only how she had gotten into this room right now.
"What did they do to me?" she murmured. Her vision swam and she put a hand on the wall, sliding down to her knees.
She heard screaming and looked up. It was a girl in distress.
"Listen here, children, don't worry about who you used to be. This place is somewhere where you can be reinvented, and discover who you truly are. Just listen to me, Hina Ogawa, and soon you'll be quite content."
Okay. She got a hold on her vision, mostly, and went over to the screaming girl, who had been calmed a little bit by the nurse, and sat next to her on the matress, rubbing her back and hoping to make it better. She was still trembling. "Hey, it's gonna be okay," she said soothingly. "We'll go through this together, okay?"
@KatsuTheCat

Mari looked up at the girl rubbing her back. "Together..." she paused and then nodded. "Okay," Mari attempted a smile before grabbing the mucky pillow on the mattress and squeezing it as hard as she could.

Hazed memories began to flow over her. Laughing and shouting, running in the meadows.
"M҉̧̲͈̠̝̜̮̘͈̫̳͈a̷̡̩͙͎̗̜̰͙̝͓̬r̴̢̞͔̫̪̬͇̩̰̦̗͕̤̙̞i҈͈̙͙̗̝͕̝͖͍̩̰͎̬͜ͅͅͅ?҉̧̠̟̩͙̥̥̞̙̜̬̰͖ͅ M̶̲͖̰̣̥͇̯̗̣̜̙̲̙͖̪̱͢ą̸͚̩͔̘̦̳͓̞̜͉̜͎̠͈ŗ̶̟̱̯̞̗̮͇͇̥͖̥̟̜̟̘i̶̧͍̰͓͓͎̟͓̪͎̥͕͓ͅ?҉͙͉̩̲͔̖̟͖͇̬͢" she heard a voice, concerned and distressed. Then shouting. Then nothing.

((God i'm making her weird as crap XD))

Risina awoke at the sound of a scream. Her tail flicked up, covering her ears at the horrific sound. Why were they so sensitive? Risina straightened up, her hair falling down as she tried to straighten it out, but ultimately failed. She blinked at the bright lights and the other people in the room, noticing them for the first time. Risina backed into the corned, her hair covered her eyes and she curled up into the ball, her white hair and clothes hopefully blending her into the backround. That was if they didn't notice the green-blue in her hair.

Luna reached up and touched her furry ears. It creeped her out how she suddenly had ears and a tail. It was unnatural. Drawing in another shaky breath, she noticed a girl curled up in the corner of the room, but just barely. She blended in the whitewashed room like a polar bear in a snowstorm. Her eyes helpless, she met the eyes of the girl before moving her gaze to an undisturbed section of the whitewashed wall, waiting for the room to stop spinning.

Aratani looked around at the pairs already somehow becoming friends, and breathed deeply. She gathered herself, and opened her mouth to speak to her supposed cellmates, but as she formed the words in her mind, they didn't form in her mouth. She tried to speak but no sound came out. Bewildered, she brushed her throat with her fingertips and tried to cough, or clear her throat, but to no avail. Soon she was panicking. What was going on? Why couldn't she speak? She wanted to be a leader, to rally everyone, but she guessed that wouldn't happen anytime soon. She looked around at the others, panic still filling her eyes, and hoped that one of them would step up.

Luna's gaze flicked to the panicking girl. "Are you okay?" she asked the person from the matress that she and the post-screaming girl were sitting on.

Risina opened her eyes again, uncurling from her ball slightly to see what was going on. She looked at all the other people here. She wanted to scream, she wanted to cry. Her tongue flicked out.. Wait. Flicked? Risina was surprised to see a forked tongue, and she felt it. She let out a soft sob, before curling back into a ball.
"What have t-they done to m-me..?" She whispered to herself.

She looked at Luna and tried to reply, but, once again, no words came out. Her shoulders slumped and she rubbed her throat, trying to calm herself, and staying hopeful that this compassionate girl would take the lead.

"They've d-done more than any other could," Mari jumped in, staring at her hands.

A picture of a girl with bloodshot eyes flashed before her.
"s҉̢̠͕̫̰̩̱͚͉o̶̩̯̪̝͖͉̪̭̝̘͜ͅm̸̜͎̠̰̲̙̜̠̯̩͜e̴̡̯̠̥̫͍͓̥̰o҉̣͈̗̦͈̠̙͍̲͢ͅn̵̞̩̥̩̙̭̝͔͎̯͈͚̞͈͢ę̶̫̮̠̯̗̲̥͓͚̠͈ͅ h҉̧͎͉̳͍̭͇͖͔̘͇̲͔̜ͅę̷̬͈̪̳̮̭͓͉̬̜͍ͅͅl̵͈̭̱̯̫̫̩̮͉̟̬͜p̷̢̬͔̳̮̩̭͖̥̗̝͇!̶̨͉̟̬̞͍͎̱̦̟̖̜̜̦̬͚̳" she heard a voice coming from nowhere.

"Help who?" she said out-loud.

She pressed her head into the white floor, her body wracking with sobs.
"Why did they do this..?" Risina sobbed into the floor, she didn't want this. Her forked tongue flicked out, lapping at her tears as an effort to try and make it look like she wasn't crying. Alas it did not worked, and Risina only sobbed louder.

"To hurt," Mari grimaced. "Thats is the only answer," she clutched her knees and rocked herself back and forth, trying to keep herself from doing something stupid.

The girl she asked if she was okay couldn't seem to talk, which was strange, but Luna have her a sympathetic look.
Luna have one last back rub to the girl on the matress and knelt by the girl on the floor. "Hey, look, we will go through this together. We've got this. You're not the only one. Calm down..." She said in her soft, soothing voice, placing a hand on her shoulder. Everyone seemed to be looking to her for leadership, so she spoke up, raising her voice to a normal volume, which felt like she was shouting at them. "Um, so, these people... Changed us. A lot. And we don't remember anything from our pasts. But... We do know that we are here now. Changed. And together. So, whatever happens, we need to stick together as much as possible. I know that's not super inspiring, but... It's true. We got this. We can get through this. And we will." Her cheeks were blushing dark red as she talked, then she turned her attention to the floor, closing her eyes a little too long to be a blink to gather herself.

She looked up, her pale blue eyes dancing around the room, Risina just wanted to feel the warmth of her mother's hug again.. This.. Was horrible. Risina listened to the girls speech, and looked back at the ground. She didn't want to talk to anyone, Risina wasn't incredibly social. She buried her head into the ground, and a small piece of metal scraped her hair and she let out a low purr. She scraped her head against it more, ignoring the small dripping sound that stained the metal floor red.

She stared for a second, before smiling and nodding. Then, she began to look around the room at everyone's "modifications", and try to experiment with hers. She had some new tall ears, and eel-like things where her human ears used to be. Soon, she had figured out how to use them, and was jabbing the air like they were weapons. Of course, in a real fight, aiming would be hard with only one working eye, but she practiced anyway. Maybe she could use them to escape. Suddenly she heard someone squeak, and turned to see a girl on the floor, who had seemingly cut herself. She tentatively reached out her hand to touch the girl's shoulder in what she hoped was a comforting pon pon wei wei wei.
