The Convergence Series GM

Another wonderful day shines over Birnin Zana, the capital city of Wakanda. Even now a year into what scientist called the Convergence event, when people and later locations from other realities started to merge with the Earth. After the panic some stability was achieved, despite the Earth being constantly shifting. Even now however the source of the event remains unknown and everyone is trying cope as best they can.

Even Wakanda wasn’t safe as the outer areas of the land where merged with a world where monstrous lizards roamed the jungles and plains. This was Wakanda however and they managed to deal with it and stability was achieved. Until a few months ago when another breech gave Wakanda a new neighbor.

Pyramids floating in the air just outside the borders of Wakanda. These men and woman had lived thousands of years ago in Egypt where they were saved from slaughter by their pharaoh and leader Anakaris. Powerful in life he had become even more powerful in death and risen to save his country. While there was no open antagonism between their new neighbors and Wakanda it could be described as…strained. There had been rumors circling about a new religion in the lands of Wakanda whose origins could be found among the hallowed halls of the pyramids but nothing in this new world was certain the King of Wakanda did not want to create a diplomatic situation through heresy.

Speaking of, the king, T’Challa, even known as the Black Panther, was in one of the offices of the Wakandan palace looking over paperwork and considering his options. Even if the Convergence event was vast and overreaching, he had done his best to keep chaos at a minimum. The threat of poachers had increased during this time. A hefty price could be fetched from the monsters that were felled. Exclusivity after all ranked up the prices considerably, but the poor hunters who didn’t get caught by the Dora Miaje usually ended up as a meal to the monsters. Even so human tenacity was well known and T’Challa knew that the threat of death would not deter anyone. As he was working he heard a knock on the door and one of his personal guard entered the room.

“My liege, you- you have a visitor.” The hesitation in the guard’s voice made T’Challa cock an eyebrow.

“Yes? That’s not a peculiar thing is it?”

“No my liege but…” He hesitated again. “She says that unless she gets an audience Wakanda as a nation will be engulfed in a sea of flame.”

Now that certainly sounded ominous. T’Challa wasn’t quite sure what to make of the situation. Was this woman sending a threat or a warning? There was only one way to find out then. “Send her in, but do not stray too far away from the door.” The guard nodded his head and headed after the guest. T’Challa decided that it was perhaps best to put his game face on and with a push of a button on his wrist made the Black Panther outfit materialized on him. Now he could only wait to see who this illustrious guest could be.

Y'know, it'd be nice to get a break once in a while.

That was a sentiment that Rose's two apprentices shared with each other for the past year now. Ever since all these different places and people combined into one, Menat and Maggio had been delivering prophecies to people of all kinds, preventing disasters...or at the very least, minor inconveniences. There was hardly any time to relax now, as there were countless errands to run. Maggio was currently in some Eastern kingdom called Kura'in (now conveniently located west of Thailand) warning a spirit medium over there to get in contact with an old laywer friend of hers, and Menat was here, in an African kingdom known as Wakanda. Already the marks of the Convergence event could be seen, what with the pyramids all over the sky. Talk about weird.

Getting an audience with the king of this place was no easy feat, and Menat had to go all doomsday on the guards to accomplish it. Fire and brimstone stuff seemed to do the trick really well! As for how it would ACTUALLY go down, well...she had no idea. All she knew was that danger was on its way to the kingdom. And apparently it was substantial enough to report to the king. And hopefully, this guard would give her the opportunity to.

"The king will see you now." Whew. Menat breathed a sigh of relief at that news. But getting the king to listen would be a different story. Who was this guy, anyway? To rule over a place like Wakanda, he would need to be some sort of hero, right? Probably some brave, heroic type, wise...older? Younger? She didn't know. But as the door opened, she readied for whoever this man was.

...only to find a guy in a catsuit.

Uh...

...was she in the right place?

Master didn't tell her about any of this...but, hey. A prophecy was a prophecy. Even if the king was an eccentric. Making sure to keep her 'mystical fortune teller' front no matter what, Menat stepped forward and bowed. "King T'Challa, I presume? I come bearing a dire message for you and your kingdom."

@Jeremi

T'Challa looked over the new arrival with a curious glance...and the suits internal systems. She did not exist in any databank which implied that she was a visitor from another world. The get up however implied a mystical nature, fortuneteller most likely considering that she had a message for him. "So I was informed, certainly one way to get audience with royalty." A joke aimed at Menat but he quickly went formal again. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, but perhaps you can tell me what this message entails. Or am I to expect vagueness on the matter?"

He wasn't sure what to make of her yet, but he would no doubt find out what she's about soon enough.

@Yun Lee

"If I knew more, I would tell you," Menat said, a bit nervous now. Getting the audience was the easy part. The hard part was making sure that this went well. She took a deep breath, producing her crystal ball. Here goes nothing...

"There's a great danger brewing. I don't know what it is-believe me, if I knew what it was, you would be the first to know." Breaking character for the teensiest moment, Menat made sure to make that clear. "It may have something to do with the nature of this Convergence event going on. There is good news, though: your kingdom is in time to be saved, but if this danger cannot be discovered and dealt with..." Her crystal ball glowed, showing flames within. "...I'm sure you get the idea."

"Crystal clear," T
'Challa responded lulling over Menat's words for a moment crossing his arms as he did so. "Let us say for a moment that I do believe you. A threat against my country is nothing new. Many have tried and there are certainly more that will try," T'Challa didn't trust the so called fortuneteller just yet and the vagueness of it all wasn't putting his mind at ease.

"Forgive me, but I am having a hard time trusting the veracity of your words. You say it's connected to the Convergence event, considering the problems that have risen due to it, a very likely cause. However, I can not just heighten to security of my country due to the words of a fortuneteller. Are you certain there isn't more you can provide me?"

@Yun Lee

"Uh..." Oh, crud. This guy wanted evidence. Which, y'know, was understandable, but when she didn't know anything, there wasn't much she could give. "Well...Oh!" Okay, back in Mystic Mode. "You can speak with my Master, if you'd like. She is the one who sent me to you. I'm merely her apprentice, and usually she's the one who knows more than anyone else in these types of situations. It'd be a quick trip over to Italy! Er...my Italy."

@Jeremi

"While a trip to Italy is certainly a nice sentiment." Menat could tell there was a but incoming. "But I can not in good conscience leave my country for the possibility of a calamity. So unless you don't have any other evidence I must ask you to lea-" Before T'Challa finished his sentence the door to the study opened and one of the Dora Miaje came in with a clear look of worry on her face.

"My King..." T'Challa walked up to her and listened to what she had to say, quiet enough for Menat not to hear what she was saying. As she finished he looked up and at Menat.

"I believe it's best that you come with me."

T'Challa and Menat where lead to a futuristic car waiting outside the palace by the Dora Miaje. As they got into the vehicle Menat realized that instead of driving on the road the car took flight heading towards their destination. Not long into their trip they could see smoke billowing in the horizon. T'Challa exchanged no words to either the driver or to Menat as the trip went on but soon enough the car landed among blinking sirens and rescue operations. As they stepped out they could see the destruction around them. What was one quaint little street had been transformed into a war zone with burning cars and buildings as well as many injured and dead.

"Excuse me for a moment..."
T'Challa went to speak to one of the rescue operators on the scene leaving Menat to her own devices. If she looked around she noticed something shimmering near a blackened corpse that still hadn't been taken care of, no doubt lost in the shuffle as the ones that would still need help were a higher priority. While the shimmering item wouldn't otherwise have caught her attention. Among the desolation whatever it may have been, seemed almost pristine.

@Yun Lee

"...oh my God."

Menat had been utterly confused as T'Challa had them leave. It really wasn't a good idea to ask what was going on, but she'd had the feeling that whatever it was? It was bad, very bad. And upon seeing the destruction, it was horrifying. She'd needed proof, but why did it have to be total carnage?

As T'Challa left, the shimmering item caught her eye. Walking towards it, she bent down and picked it up, careful not to disturb the corpse it resided with. What was this, some sort of explosion or fire...she was at a loss.

Looking at the trinket she found it to be a sigil of some sort colored with blue and yellow. The ornate design made her think of some sort of Egyptian design, but what was it doing here and in such a pristine condition among all of this destruction and debris?

"What do you have there?"
T'Challa had returned to Menat's side looming over her as she was inspecting the sigil.

@Yun Lee

"Hm? Oh...I noticed this sparkling on that..." She glanced down at the body. "...person. I've never seen anything like this before, and it looks so out of place considering what happened here." She turned to face T'Challa. "Um...what did happen here? Has anyone told you anything yet?"

"Let me see that for a moment..."
T'Challa took the sigil from Menat as he explained the situation. "It had been a peaceful day when suddenly an eruption potent enough to destroy two blocks. The casualties continue to rise. For this to happen in Wakanda..." As he spoke T'Challa used the scanners on his suit to look over the trinket, but even with out his high tech scanners he recognized the symbol. "This is the sigil of Anakaris." He looked down at the charred corpse. "I believe the implication is clear. An act of war from one sovereign from another." Even as he spoke however Menat could tell he was skeptical. Is that truly what had happened here?

"Um...I guess." Menat looked at the sigil, then to the corpse. I mean, it sounded legit, but... "I dunno, though...have you been having any problems with Anakaris recently? Or is this the first time they've done anything like this?"

@Jeremi

"No, but in war there is always someone that needs to cast the first stone."
Even if those words escaped his lips, they sounded hollow. "I will need to investigate this personally." He turned to face Menat. "It seems that you are tied to this somehow, I wish for you to join me on my trip."

He considered his words for a moment before continuing. "Going with an escort of soldiers will not go over well, that is why I believe you and me will be the best choice. My sister and the others will look after Wakanda. I do not wish to escalate this if this sigil was only left here as a ruse."

@Yun Lee

Huh. Well, Menat was surprised at T'Challa's request for her help. She wasn't sure what exactly she could help him with-she was a fortune-teller, not a detective! But hey, maybe she would be able to find something out, so...

"It'd be my pleasure!" She smiled and nodded. "Where do we start?"

@Jeremi

"At the source," T'Challa responded as something from above caused dust to fly about.

"We are going to have a diplomatic meeting with Wakanda's newest neighbor. You will be there as an impartial witness to the proceedings."
He walked and talked towards the craft that had now landed and had its hatch open for them to enter. "I imagine you have never flown in one of these before."

@Yun Lee

"Woah..." Menat marveled at the aircraft, giving T'Challa an answer to his question before confirming it verbally. "No, I haven't. Is this something...normal, here? I mean, I know Wakanda is technologically advanced, from what I've heard, but...wow."

@Jeremi

@Jeremi

"Quite normal,"
T'Challa spoke as they stepped into the aircraft. "Please, take a seat." He motioned to one of the free chairs as T'Challa himself went for the pilot seat. "Remember to buckle yourself up." With that the airship rose high into the air and flew off in high speeds towards their destination.

It didn't take long for them to reach the border of Wakanda and the floating pyramids of the neighbor sovereign loomed in front of them. "As I mentioned before lift off, I will do all the talking. I just need you there as a witness wh-" T'Challa didn't have time to finish his sentence as an explosion erupted outside. "What in the-!" Looking outside Menat and T'Challa could see projectiles flying all around them. "Brace yourself!" T'Challa shouted as he went for a defensive maneuver spinning through the explosions erupting around them. It was quite clear that they weren't welcome, but why that was T'Challa could not say.

@Yun Lee

Taking a seat and buckling up as requested, Menat couldn't help but be amazed at everything she was seeing here. This technology was more advanced than anything she'd ever seen! ...to be fair, as a fortune teller she had less interaction with technology than most people, but still. This was impressive!

Ugh, FOCUS, Menat. You're here on a mission! People literally just died in the streets! You gotta stay professional and-

"EEK!!" Menat let out a very unprofessional shriek, jumping in her seat as they were attacked. Aw, jeez! These people were anything but friendly, were they? It was probably a good thing that T'Challa had all this under control, because with all this turbulence, Menat could feel herself turning green. "S-Some kind of welcome!"

@Jeremi

"A curious reaction no doubt," T'Challa was eerily calm as he piloted the craft through the explosions erupting around them. "The welcoming committee makes it clear that I need to be here."

He pressed down a button on the dashboard and started talking. "This is King T'Challa of Wakanda coming on a diplomatic visit. Seize your firing, I am not your enemy." He didn't know if his words would come through, how much of this was magic and how much was technology. However after a short while the firing did indeed stop. "It seems I got through to them, but I do not expect a warm welcome when we land."

A short while later T'Challa had secured a landing platform on the largest floating pyramid. Stepping outside of the aircraft they would be met by soldiers dressed in ancient Egyptian garbs who had all their spears pointed squarely at them. "Take us to your leader." A cliched phrase no doubt but the soldiers seemed to comply as they pushed T'Challa and Menat into the lush halls of the pyramid. "I do not know what strangeness you have seen in your world," T'Challa replied to Menat as they continued walking. "But Anakaris has a very large presence around him. Do not falter, we need to understand what is going on and something tells me reaching him is the key to that."

@Yun Lee

Stomach finally settled, Menat sighed in relief as they landed. That relief was short-lived once the soldiers greeted them with a good dose of hostility. Jeez! These guys really wanted to start this war, didn't they? Thank goodness they had some sort of reason to them. Otherwise Menat had the feeling she and T'Challa wouldn't have gotten out of this kingdom as anything but pincushions.

"Hmm..." Menat frowned as they were led through the halls, grateful that finally there was nothing trying to kill them for the time being. "You know, I actually was in a situation kind of like this before...only I wasn't able to get to even get close to the guy I was hoping to talk to. I guess diplomacy wasn't his thing?" She couldn't help but wonder what happened to that guy, anyway. Probably nothing good, if he didn't get that fortune after all.
