NAME: Luna Castiglione
AGE: 23
ORIENTATION: Cleric of the Monastic Order, Daughter of the Castiglione family, owners of Julia's Berries

BACKSTORY: Luna joined the Monastic Order when she was young as part of the financial arrangement Lutetia's elite had with the region's farmers. As part of the farmers' service to society and the grateful upper class, education was made available at the Monastic Order for the children of the more reputable agribusiness owners. Her father, Leon Castiglione of Julia's Berries, had Luna move to Lutetia City to take up her vows and dedicate herself to her studies to grow up under the Lutetian Urban influence and with the ideals of the Monastery and Selene.

Her education at the Monastery taught her the core values of the Monastic Order, the virtues of the Paladin, the Cleric, and the Proselyte, the history of their faction and of the land, knowledge of the magics and forces at play in their world, and unbeknownst to anyone, even Luna, the society of Lutetia City. Visiting her family, learning alongside other Proselytes, and finding herself in the city, Luna developed an internal conflict between these differing societies and their values. In this, she sought guidance in the struggles of Selene and the friendship in her communities and found only more confusion. She grew seeing the danger supernatural beings within the city faced and held for their society and struggled to find ways to convince those she lived with that the Order held their best interests despite the conflicting values. She grew holding the Monastic Order as the most just and righteous force in the land, yet struggled with the necessity of death and paranoia which seemed inherent in their life. In herself, she began a search for knowledge and clarity which the world about her could not offer.

In this, Luna closed herself off to others and vigorously explored all sacred texts available, took apart her assigned coursework more thoroughly than the monks cared for, and took to witnessing forms of magic both embraced and despised by the Order. She began to create her own works, theories and discoveries which she made during her research, and found that there were basic laws which had become obscured and convoluted over the ages. Luna met with her classmates and tested her theories, pitting innocent questions against the texts they were working at and finding her work validated through a more benign logic. In her final years of Proselyte education, she became a kind of monster, absorbing and destroying knowledge as fluidly as one breathed air, turning all those around her into storehouses of unseen truth.

Armed with this new power of epistemology, Luna sought to once again convince others of a peace which had been the holy point of her endeavors. She was years older now, a city woman, a refined intellectual, the daughter of a wealthy farmer. Her new theories, which she had hoped to use in order to persuade her city friends, horribly backfired. In the heat of discussion with a werewolf Luna held as a wise figure in her urban community, Dr. Castein, the mixing of magic with verse resulted in the purification of her friend, a dissolution of his magical energy. In establishing her power over Castein's, his heart stopped and all energy ceased within his body. Luna, in horror, fled to the authorities to seek help for the situation. Instead of rectifying an undoing her action, her abilities were acclaimed for forcing dead a werewolf. In response, she lashed out, trying a violent attempt at Necromancy with the intention of attacking the soldiers. Her attempt, however, was desperate and weak following the death of Castein, and she was detained and brought before the Order for judgement. After deliberating upon Luna's position as a daughter of the Castiglione family and a report that she had learned magic separate from her teachings within the city, it was decided that she would be served an Order of Submission, requesting her participation in a ritual which would impress upon her being the power of the Monastic Order and remove all which conflicted with their teachings from her spiritual infrastructure. Luna, in shock from her actions, participated willingly, desperate for the clarity she had known under Selene's will.

The men and women who had taught Luna more than what they knew gathered together and, in the form of a spiritual ritual done in an undisclosed location within their headquarters, took the frame of her being and burned into it the teachings of the Order, cleared away all things which obstructed or replaced their will within her and impressed upon her the absoluteness of their laws. She did not resist, but resisted nonetheless, and found her sense of being torn apart and vague in the face of everything she had been taught since becoming a Proselyte. Once the ritual was complete, they were assured that Luna had been preserved as the prime student they had known her as and detected no trace of wild energy within her body. They returned her to the school once she recovered from the shock of those events to finish her studies and continue her assumed journey to Priesthood as a Cleric. She faltered for a week, her grades suffered, and she spoke to no one. Then, without warning, Luna had returned and with ease, finished her studies and begun her expected collection of works which would certify her for a higher class of Clerical work than someone so young would expect. She works on this now, under the watch of numerous monks from Lutetia City and beyond.

APPEARANCE: 14 y/o (prior to departure for Lutetia City)

23 y/o (Pre-Cleric, Proselyte)
3-618a52580a1061aaa5a409f76fdcbf3c.jpg

SKILLS:
Magic of the Mediator
- As a result of her studies, Luna has developed a magical technique for tracing the magic flow of spiritual incantation in individuals and in the world around her. In other words, Luna has developed a magical technique for giving raw magical power to words in herself and others as they are valid within the subject person. While she primarily uses this as a method of defense in a non-visible way, this also allows her to create physical forms with the power of speech, creating extensions of herself which she typically manifests as weapons or tools. In light of her Order of Submission, this power is greatly affected by her self-understanding through the will of Selene.

Art of Selene
- The Monastic Order, to those who vie for more peaceful roles, offers education on the healing and restorative arts. Luna has learned both mortal and magical ways to undo mortal and magical wounds. This skill is only slightly affected by her Order of Submission, which impedes her ability to use deviant methods of healing.

Street Smarts
-Despite being served an Order of Submission, a significant part of Luna's experiences and understandings are influenced by her time with Lutetia City's underworld. Having forced herself to witness the more grotesque and brutal sides of society, Luna has developed a sense of Lutetia City's streets that give her an affinity for the denizens of the dark and the more lively lifestyle that comes with it. The long-standing alleys and backdoors which have saved many an innocent bystander from being victim to a random street sweep are hardly secrets to her. If she finds herself within a place where the city folk live, she can identify the likely places of potential outs when she enters an area in the event that a need arises for exit. However, this does not work retroactively; if she is caught ill-prepared, Luna's ability to piece out exits becomes impeded. This skill is only slightly affected by her Order of Submission, which impedes her ability to perceive these exits by reflex.

NAME: Kaijin Mujun
AGE: 32 y/o
ORIENTATION: Summoner, Daughter to the Head, and Priestess of Social Ceremony
BACKSTORY: Eldest daughter of the Mujun family branch, she is bequeathed the responsibilities of the family Summoner. As such, she has learned and meditated upon the forces of nature in the world and the ways in which things connect with each other past the physical and through the spiritual. In honing this power, she now acts as the Priestess of Social Ceremony. The Mujun family branch prides itself on its powers of empathy and philosophy and thus, holds near-daily meetings with both the people and its family members, discussing matters of war, society, and economy. Kaijin uses her power during these meetings to unify the people and make their needs and thoughts clearer and more relative through the manifestation of a collective spirit in which all understand each other as part of a larger organism that is each other. Having done this for many years, she has mastered her art and devoted herself to her family and her people.

As the wars wage around Kaijin, the Mujun family remains relatively safe and stable. They, along with few other family branches, have taken it upon themselves to act as foundations of stability to uphold the Jun family's leadership and act as borders to prevent the attempt of a complete uprising from any individual house. These family branches, high enough to not waver, low enough to be stronger together, use their positions in the realm to spread order and peace amongst the families, idealistically wishing for a time of peace. Surprisingly, despite the quickly fading vitalities of the Heads, even the Heads-to-be appear hopeful for structure and an end to the war which wages around them. Kaijin, as a representative of the family, has extended her Summoning powers to meetings between these guiding houses to promote stronger ties and it appears that the nobility is in agreement about their continued work in the future.

Kaijin, however, has recently taken to longer periods of meditation and has even gone so far recently as to miss a meeting between the family and the people. When they could not find her, someone was sent to the local shrine to see if she could be found there. When they attempted to enter after her, they found themselves lost and incapable of venturing far without losing their way back to the entrance. Once Kaijin finally emerged, her only explanation was that the tides of the world were changing and her teachings had taken on an unforeseen form. These longer sessions of meditation have become normal, though she has not made the mistake again of failing her duties. Kaijin continues her efforts as Eldest and can be found at all of the family's meetings.

SKILLS:
Summoner skills and such under the concept of drawing upon the power of another for the manifestation or amplified expression of energy. This can take the form of soft summoning (making someone more vulnerable to nature, clearing paths of energy throughout the body, etc.) or intense summoning(the manifestation of a collective energy, giving physical forms to spiritual entities, calling forth spiritual forces).

NAME: Sand (Mujun)
AGE: 22 y/o
ORIENTATION: Warrior, Daughter of the Head
BACKSTORY: Sand, born as Suna, is the Mujun Family Head's youngest daughter. Unlike her older sister, Sand did not take on any specific role for the family. When she was old enough to write, Sand was given the task of charting the conversations at the daily commune, catching their key ideas and needs while matching them to the response and logic given by her father and his advisors, her uncles and aunts. When she wasn't doing this, Sand was kept busy with poetry and studies of war philosophy and the philosophy of beauties. It wasn't until she had studied a particularly gruesome historical narrative prior to charting a meeting which was so emphatic that she burst into tears that Sand realized the realities of the talks they held each day.

With this realization, Sand began studying swordplay and taking her studies of war more seriously. When the daily meetings took place, she half-rehearsed economic and war scenarios in her head and half-wrote notes on what was being said around her. Once she was old enough, Sand took on a disguise and volunteered for battle, having a servant stand in for her at the daily meetings. After a week of skirmishes and daring, Sand returned home to find that little had changed and her disappearance had gone unnoticed. Thanking her now ally, Sand delved into her daily training more with a deeper understanding of the world their politics concerned. It was only after her second attempt that she was caught, chastised by her family, and consequently honored by the Head for her bravery and vigor to fight for the family. Her name as a mercenary, Sand, was acknowledged as a name of her own, and was started on the road to becoming a full-fledged knight.

Having finished her training and arriving at the realities of the world coming for her as the elders die and the next generation influences the tides of power, Sand has begun attending and participating in family meetings to the end of finding her statements invalidated and ignored in the sea of communication that her sister summoned. Just as Kaijin seems to have responded to some unspoken fear with increased meditation, Sand's increasing aloofness and comfort with liberation appears to the public as a foreboding of dark times.
APPEARANCE:

SKILLS: Sand's got the stamina and strength of a seasoned mercenary. Her dedication to her family and to a sense of deeper justice is what sets her apart from those she fights alongside. In sharp contrast to her sister, Sand has little patience for the intricacies of magic and instead relies on a small variety of blades she keeps in a case within her room.

NAME: OGUN (Hugo Dampierre tel Vailance)

AGE: ??? (17)

ORIENTATION: Mercenary (Monastery Dropout/Abandonee)

BACKSTORY: Ambitious and hungry street urchin.

(Hugo is the youngest child of the Vailence line, one of Lupaix's longstanding noble families. He has three older brothers, the eldest dead, the following two are Clerics. Hugo's father, Vincent Dampierre, is a respected Paladin in Lutetia and his mother, Odette Dampierre, is the eldest daughter of the Vailance line and a socialite notorious for arranging gatherings of radical intellectuals and wealthy aristocrats. The source of innocence in his family, Hugo was treated as a lamb; too delicate and precious when natural events left his father disabled and his oldest brother dead to be approached, yet the source of redemption and means of catharsis for everyone afterwards. At 12, he was enrolled at the Monastery to be trained as a Paladin at the instruction of Odette, as a way to return some pride to their family after their shameful tragedies.

At the Monastery, Hugo gained many friends and was beloved in class discussions for his ability to communicate and cultivate understanding within the less ready students. After the rumor reached his mother that he would make a promising Cleric one day with his peace-making nature, Hugo found himself in more technical classes, lost amidst formulas and silent rooms filled with dead metal as opposed to his first year of constant community. At this point, he began 'studying' in the Monastery library with his old classmates, balancing his knowledge of technology with his efforts at learning philosophy. However, again, his activities were recognized by his family and Hugo would find that there was so much coursework being pushed on him in his own classes that it became impossible to synchronize schedules with other students. Working nonstop through the day to collapse before the sun had set, Hugo gave up on making friends and committed himself to his responsibilities.

This was until he encountered Luna Castiglione, an older female student who seemed to breeze through her lessons on Mech Theory while he struggled to understand each step. Realizing that he was blind to something, he approached her and found she was willing to meet with him when he was free, as her own schedule was much lighter. After a month of working together, Hugo noticed that things had indeed become much clearer. The process of physically deconstructing and reconstructing weaponry, armor, and other tools didn't become drastically shortened or even faster than other students, but Hugo found that he could think more, act over more things, exist beyond himself. With Luna's company, he found himself having increasingly more unpredictable conversations with others and finding pleasure in things he had never recognized before.

Luna's crime and her subsequent subjection to Inhibition ended the paradise Hugo had founded for himself. He couldn't comprehend how Luna was bad. And what's more, Luna's admission of guilt and the absence of deceit during this admission shattered Hugo's understanding of his world. Everything they had discussed, all the things she had seen that he couldn't, ran counter to the person she appeared to be now. With Luna being the first person he came to trust and recognize so humanly, Hugo left the Monastery and sought to investigate Luna's crime with his own eyes. To move through Lupaix's underworld, he has taken on the name OGUN and the occupation of mercenary. )

(Hugo Dampierre tel Vailance, Student-forged Armor and Blade
knight_2_by_nijiooezt-d66ro1t.png
)

SKILLS:
1. Lupaix Disguise
So long as he is disguised as Ogun, his true identity is unidentifiable. With minor makeup and careful diction, Ogun is indistinguishable and appears just as a traveling mercenary with a common, boring face. As part of this disguise, all skills learned as a student of the Order are nonexistent and a reliance on basic, common knowledge becomes inherent. To hide his fighting skills, Ogun uses basic magic, elementally fueled by vials of fuel and metal elbow pads of rough, cheap sediment. He speaks with an accent similar to Luna's.
2. (Hugo Skill 2 )
3. (Hugo Skill 3)

NAME: Adeline ven Scarmonnen-Leight (Adel)
AGE: 22
ORIENTATION: Paladin-under-tutelage (Aspiring Paladin Assistant)
BACKSTORY: Another resident of Lutetia, Adeline is the daughter of journalist Scarlot Scarmonnen and local grocer chain enthusiast-full time grocer Gerald Leight. Though introduced to the studies of the Order at a young age as the neighbor children, Paladin and part-time law attorney Masterr Aventus spared her any formal training and became her tutor when she was 11. Labelled an aspiring Paladin, she is trained in mechanics, swordplay, gunplay, war, philosophy, and politics. However, she has taken on the duties of Aventus' personal assistant more than student, and does not engage her studies as often as one would expect her to.

Instead, she spends her time volunteering at the local police department and Church, acting as a community member and general informant of affairs. At one time, the nickname 'Genus Lutetia Honeybee' was bestowed upon her in mockery of her disingenuous personality and suspicious behavior, but she quickly surmounted and transformed the title into a persona, the mysterious ally, the modern day ninja.

Few know much about her as an individual and fewer know the work she does for Masterr Aventus. But there are many scandalous rumors surrounding her identity and her motivations.
