1x1 Mare Claustrum

@Jeremi

Looking at the desk, which was unattended, Misty would see a lockbox marked "ELEVATORS" held behind the desk. Several masks and glasses of champagne sat in front of her, free for the taking. The people would stop paying attention and return to their chatter of conversation, completely ignorant of Misty. The pianist continued his song, and the din of the room returned.

Misty would feel something brush against her, and when she would blink, and she would find herself at the top of the stairs, the room in ruins once again. However, spirits, or rather echoes in the outline of humans, seemed to take positions , playing the piano and talking to each other. They quickly began to fade out, and the sounds of the room were replaced by the cooing of several pigeons, the rain on the glass roof, and the creaking of the ship on the waves.

However, in her hands was the Security Mask.

Misty did not care for that little trip one bit. She looked down at the Security Mask in her hands before pocketing it. Never know if that thing would come handy. Before making her way towards the other end of the room Misty walked with cautious steps where the grand banquet had just been back towards the desk. Maybe she'd be lucky and find something inside that lockbox she had seen during her little trip.

Returning past the staircase and smashed piano, she would tread in several puddles, and the nearby pigeons would coo as she approached. When crossing back over to the desk, she would pass a large statue in the center of the room. The large golden statue shot up several sparks from a torch, and towered above her, framed by banners and balconies looking down on the floor where she stood. The sparks echoed through the cavernous room.

If she investigated the base, she would find a golden plaque carved with a phrase:
I intend to unbind the chains of Prometheus, and give Fire to humanity

Upon closer inspection, the statue would appear to be one of Prometheus, with one wrist chained to the ground. The desk was to your right, but it would require climbing over or going around to investigate the lockbox.

@Jeremi

"Famous last words," Misty murmured to herself as she looked up to the statue. She then let out a little groan seeing the state of the the rest of the area. She was nothing but committed however and attempted to get over the rubble towards the lockbox.

@Minerva

Stepping over the rubble, she would see several posters advertising for the masquerade ball which she had seen. It had a corner torn from it, but it appeared to still be in a frame, which was now knocked over. To get over the desk, she would have to slide carefully over some glass which had shattered against it. A broken security mask sat leaning against a lamp. More newspapers lay scattered, this one, from New York, talking about free energy due to connecting with another world.

The box would be locked, of course. However, there was a number lock connecting the door to the wall. It had three numbers on it that could be adjusted.

A note could be found, stained with water and slightly smudged much like everything else in the room, but still readable. A red fingerprint was in the corner of it.

Keybox Note said:
New Recruit: Was expecting to see you after the party so I could hand you the code yourself to find your way to your dorm.
Nikola's security protocol dictates we change lockbox codes every week.. Here's this week's code:

The first number is that of the boy who fell from the sky.
The second is that which Prometheus gave to his beloved creation.
The third is of the beloved Queen who rules over the Empire.

@Jeremi

Yep, definitely an alternative universe. Misty thought to herself as she looked at the newspaper before her attention went towards the lockbox and the note accompanying it.

Her Greek myth was pretty dicey but she was seeing a theme here. Icarus was a boy who flew too close to the sun and fell to his death, but what's the number? Two, maybe? As in how many wings he had.

The second one was a no-brainer considering the giant ass statue she just passed...but what number fit it? He gave fire, right? Was the anything special about the statue? One of its wrists had been chained so she twirled the second number to one.

The third one...wait one of the pictures from before. Queen Victoria! But what number is tied to her? The picture was the first one in the row so she but one as the third number as well on the lockbox.

The safe would swing open, the numbers and gears clicking into place. Finally, after a few seconds, there would be a nice safe with a series of keycards. They were each labelled with the name of famous scientist on them, all of them pioneers that had come before Tesla. They began with Franklin and ended at Faraday. Each one also seemed to be labelled by position or department, with Faraday being listed as a sort of "Executive and Special Guest" Level.

The flapping of birds wings could be heard echoing through the room, and the roll of thunder could be heard above, along with the sparking sound of the torch which the Prometheus statue carried. Once again, the ship was the eerie quiet of the docking bay, minus the feeling of being watched. Well, except for the faded posters and photographs on the walls.

Better to be safe than sorry Misty pocketed all the keycards just in case she needed them for something. Not like they'd do much use inside the safe.

The thunder didn't deter her from moving on but considering her past encounter it was probably an omen for things yet to come. She held up the Farady keycard and looked it over. That was probably her best bet as far as next destination was concerned. Now how was she going to get there from here?

@Minerva

The thunder would be followed by a soft rain beginning to pour through the broken glass above. Another spark shot from the torch wielded by Prometheus. There was a door open at the very end of the room, bathed in a red light and long, like a hallway. There would be another crackle over the radio. A feminine voice, one different from Ada's, began to speak.

"Uh, hello? This is researcher Waldegrave. I, and several others appear to be trapped in Extradimensional Research. The doors have sealed and we can't override the system." The voice trailed off. There would be a large creaking sound on the other end of it before the transmission stopped.

In the corner of her eyes, Misty would see several of those "Spirits" made of energy walk towards the door before disappearing.

Well that sounds like something Misty would have to take care of. "Well if they can't override it, how am I supposed to do it?" She spoke aloud into the air. Either way the door with the energy beings seemed like a good bet. Grabbing the wrench just in case she started to make her way towards the door.

@Minerva

Upon entering the door, the lights would flicker. Then, they would go out, blanketing the room in a quiet darkness which would then be filled with whispers. There would be a cold chill in the room, and a light came back. This was more natural than the harsh artificial lights of the Helios. The light would fill the room, revealing it was made of stone, more akin to a tomb. On the right was a note next to a holy water fount, and then the left were several boxes, finely inlaid with mahogany and gold.

Misty saw the cold breath escape her lips when what she could only describe as a shift washed over the room. She couldn't tell what the whispers were saying, but a good rule of thumb is that if you hear whispers in the dark it's never anything good.

The new surroundings didn't fill her with much hope. Her eyes went first to the note reading over it before looking at the larger gold box and see if she could get inside and check its contents.

@Minerva

The letter was typed on a typewriter, clearly more modern than the rest of the room. It was closed with a seal.

Letter said:
Mr. Rigby

As per our agreement, you are to retrieve what is contained within the tomb with the utmost discretion and deliver it to the appointed location, upon which you will be paid. While it is only of interest to a certain few within the scientific community, I beseech you to not interact with the artifact in any way beyond retrieval. It is of astronomical value, and incredibly dangerous. As a result, it may prove to be dangerous in the hands of the uneducated.

We are on the verge of a discovery that could unseat Tesla and Wardenclyffe from their station, and I trust that you will aid us in uncovering it.

Yours truly,
Doctor Montfaucon

The Larger gold box was wooden, with gold detailing. It had a small round lock, akin to that of a jewelry or music box. It seemed that it was locked.

Political machinations. Misty didn't know what she'd do with this information but pocketed the letter for now if would come to use later. As far as the box realizing it was locked and in no mood to try and find a key she'd slam the lock against the stone table and try to force it open.

@Minerva

There would be a loud crack and then an echoing ting ting ting as something metal fell on the floor. In her hands, Misty would hear gears begin to turn, and feel the box begin to vibrate as what looked like a small spotlight came out of the top of it. It began to hum and a red light began to glow, focusing on a single point.

Across from where the box had been positioned, there was a fresco, with two angels pointing upwards, and a representation of the pieta, the Christ on Mary's lap. Above her head was a star. In Christ's hand was a compass, similar to the Freemason Emblem but emblazoned with an unknown symbol. Surrounding the head of Mary were several figures, angels wielding shields, as well as several more stars around her head. They were all blank.

Misty groaned to herself. Another puzzle. Great. Didn't these people know about normal keys? Security boxes with numbers? Fine, alright. Time to figure this out.

She started to fiddle around with the fresco to see if anything would start to move about.

@Minerva

Nothing would move on the Fresco itself, however, Misty would find that the shields as well as the symbol in the middle of the Compass and Ruler all protruded from the wall and were made of smooth marble. They were finely carved, with small details such as flowers.

The star was also protruding from the wall, and it felt like there may have been something behind it, judging from the cracks. The spotlight would continue to hum and bathe her and the fresco in a harsh red glow.

Misty reached over towards the compass trying to pull it out or turning it around. The star seemed to be the focus of all of it but she wasn't really sure how she'd get any of this to move. Except with violence, of course.

@Minerva

Upon reaching down and grabbing the compass, it wouldn't budge. However, Misty would feel a burning sensation in her hand. If she looked at her hand following that, a sign would be branded on her palm.

yellow-sign.jpg

Upon witnessing it, a dull hum would appear in the back of her mind for a split second before disappearing. A vision of a figure cloaked in tattered yellow robes, wearing a pale mask appeared in her vision. A raspy male voice whispered in her ear, followed by a laugh before fading.

[HAVE YOU SEEN THE YELLOW SIGN?!]

“Can’t say that I have,” Misty replied deadpan into the air. Or if she had she wasn’t sure where. Looking down at her palm she hoped that this wasn’t a permanent tattoo. She raised her palm up wards the fresco to see if she could find some more clues.
