New Troy is the largest of Metropolis' six boroughs, it is the heart of the city and Metropolis' business district.

It is New Troy where Lexcorp Tower is located, as well as the famed Daily Planet media company. On a small island near the borough is where one can find Titan Tower, home of the Titans team of superheroes.

On the southernmost area of the borough is Chinatown, where the Sentinels of Magic have decided to plant their flag.

Andrew opened the door to the apartment. Nobody was home, obviously. He had been hired to investigate the disappearance of a Mr. Graves, some sort of author. The man who hired him was the publisher, who had looked and sounded rather distraught. This was normal, considering one of their best authors had just disappeared.

Andrew couldn't understand why someone would kidnap this guy though. He wasn't rich, and the publishing company wasn't exactly doing well financially either. This guy, as far as he knew, had no living family. He was living alone in a cheap little apartment. He made comic books for a living. Why exactly would anyone want to kidnap this guy?

Andrew stepped in, and looked around, scanning the room for any clues.

The apartment was bare. It was almost like no one actually lived there. At least not for extended periods. Either Graves was paranoid, liked his privacy, or wanted to be away from his wife and kids somewhere they couldn't find him. Sometimes you just needed to escape.

His bedroom door was open, voices could be heard inside. One of those voices maybe Andrew would recognize. Talk show host G. Gordon Godfrey.

"The Justice League don't care about you or I." Godfrey said, "They don't answer to anyone. We've been pushing to register their members, but they resist. The UN refuses to grow any stones and do what's right!" The man shouted, an audience applause being heard. The TV was on, and Godfrey was up to his usual fear mongering.

"The TV's on..." He muttered to himself. He walked over to it, watching his step to be sure that he didn't step on any evidence. It was that talk show host, Godfrey. Andrew didn't watch much TV, but he'd heard about him on the news a few times. He didn't exactly think well of the guy either. After all, he got payed to shout at a camera. What kind of job was that?

What interested him more though was the fact that the TV was on. Either Graves was in a hurry, or he was kidnapped right here. There didn't appear to be any signs of a struggle though. He decided to move on to the bedroom.

On Graves' bed were books, papers, pictures. The walls were covered in pictures and pieces of news articles glued and taped to them.

The things on his bed were related to magic artifacts. Artifacts discovered in Egypt, Greece, Atlantis, all over.

The pictures on the wall were mostly of the Justice League, and the articles were relevant to them. David Graves was a man obsessed. He'd written a best-selling book about the Justice League.

A copy of which was sitting in a melted trash can, it was set on fire. The only words one could see on the cover was the title.

Gods Among Men.

Right next to it was a burned picture of Graves, a woman, and two children. It was probably his obsession that drove them away.

"What the hell..." He muttered under his breath. Something seemed off here. Why would an author destroy a copy of his own book? And who burns a picture of their own relatives? Something was off... Either Graves had gone mad, or someone really didn't like him. And the stuff on his bed... Wasn't this guy an author? What interest would he have in mystical artifacts. Even if the holy grail was real, he doubted that an author would be interested in that kind of stuff. "What where you up to Graves?" He went over to the bed to examine the items. Maybe they had something to do with his disappearance...

The few books that were open on Graves' bed had passages highlighted and circled. Many of them were related to artifacts that were said to grant immortality, to bring people back from the dead.

And how the give someone ultimate power. Maybe Graves' obsession with the Justice League made him want to be like them.

Maybe he needs to help them. In his book he spoke highly of them. If his heroes couldn't die, the world would be safe forever.

Right?

Graves was looking for power, immortality. This had gone far beyond an obsession with a book. Had Graves gone mad? Andrew would have to look at his medical record to figure that out. But why would an author want the Holy Grail? Certainly, everyone did, but why was he looking for it? Could this have something to do with his disappearance?

There were more, to. Magical artifacts that seemed to be from every corner of the world.

Andrew decided to take a look at the highlighted and circled passages. Probably important.

The first of the highlighted passages was about a magical artifact called the Orb of Ra. It read;

"Egyptian myth states that the Orb of Ra was created by the Egyptian deity Ammon-Ra to combat his foe, the serpent Apep, in a never-ending battle. The Orb found itself in the hands of a priest during the reign of Ramesses II who used the Orb in an attempt to overthrow the Pharoah.

The coup was a failure, prevented by an individual said to be the immortal Cain, the First Man.

The Orb was trusted to the immortal to be protected. Two millenia later the Orb was rediscovered in Syria, finding it's way to a museum in America.

It's said the Orb holds regenerative abilities, even possibly preventing death by natural causes such as age or disease."
