The snowy mountains deep within the heart of the Northlands where a picture of serenity this morning. The freshly fallen snow from the night prior had blanketed the land under a pristine and unbroken layer of glittering white, and the chill in the air had left most of the denizens of the mountain forest content to sleep in until the sun had a chance to warm the landscape. Spring would be upon them soon though, and for a short few months the lands would be a far more hospitable landscape teaming with new life.

For most it would be a time of renewal and a necessary part of the cycle of the seasons to ensure that those creatures who made their homes within these frigid lands had a chance to flourish and prepare before the long nights returned once again.

For one though, it would be a time of good byes.

Yule, a dragon almost as ancient as the mountain itself, rested comfortably as thoughts of the future weighed heavily upon his mind. He had called these mountains home for longer than most of the creatures upon it had been alive, and at his age it was unlikely he would ever depart them again. He was content with this knowledge though. He had lived many life-times over again. He had witnesses the rise and fall of empires, the birth of entire races and species, and he himself had traveled far and wide in his younger years. He had personally seen and experiencing things most could scarcely begin to comprehend. Indeed, he was content.

But for the human child he had taken in, the human child he had raised, the human child that with every passing day reminded him of... another. That child had his whole life ahead of him. A destiny he would never find if he remained here in the mountains. Soon he would need to leave.

Yule let out a heavy sigh.

To wish the continued safety and seclusion of their remote mountain upon the child would have been a selfish wish given all that he had himself seen in his many long years. And it was for this reason he had spent many an hour weaving lessons in the guise of tales and legends of lands far away. Through those stories over the years, he prepared the boy for the day that would soon come. The day when the child was a child no longer.

With a mighty groan the great dragon rose to his feet and jostled his wings to loosen the layer of snow that had settled upon him during the night. It was time to find Kindred. Time to tell him what he had kept from him for so many years so that he might have a childhood to call his own.

It was time to prepare him for the coming spring.

The morning's peace was broken as Kindred awoke, his senses coming to he hardly had enough time to register that he was late in waking up. A quick shove and a boisterous laugh let him know that his sibling's were up and well enough awake as the yeti's hollered at him. Kindred shared in their laughter as he got to his feet, the youngest of his siblings already at his feet as they led him outside the cave and into the freshly fallen snow. They had waited for him to wake, which was a kind gesture but now that he was they wasted no time.

Kindred was familiar to the chill of the mountain, it's winds now refreshing as the cold bit into his skin. He wore the furs of dire wolves, who to many could be considered a hostile threat - but to a full grown yeti, prey or companion. These furs did well to keep the now young adult warm as he wrestled with his siblings, the yeti's aged six through ten were about his size and strength and generally kept him company throughout his days. They were much stronger than he was, but with the right movements he had learned how to take advantage of their lumbering movements. "You're slowing down!" He shouted before a chuckle as a brother leaped towards him, only for Kindred to fall backwards and roll into the snow to avoid the collision. They weren't able to communicate well through words, but the yeti understood a few words - and even easier, the tone in which they were said. His brother rushed him again, leaping at Kindred to avoid the snow that would slow down typical movement but this time he was ready - with a bit of magic the snow in front of Kindred froze over, and as the Yeti touched ground he slipped and cracked the fragile Ice beneath him which gave Kindred time to use his weight to pin the Yeti for a few moments.

His success however was short lived as his brother fought back, the position was solid and his arms were wrapped up - but the sheer strength of the Yeti was hard to contend with as Kindred was shook off, tumbling further into the snow. Their wrestling would have continued unfettered from there, if it hadn't been for the sounds coming from the mountain. A mighty groan filled the air, echoes cascading down so the whole territory was aware of Yule's awakening. It took a few moments before they started laughing, with their bout now called off Kindred patted his brother on the shoulder as they marched back up the mountain, their path down it marked by the disturbed snow.

"Yule!" Kindred shouted from afar, his hands reaching up to cup his mouth so that he may call out easier. The winter was coming to an end, with spring on it's way that normally meant a bit of preparation on their end to go down into the forests to collect resources while they could. He figured it would be any day now that he and some siblings would make the trip down.
