Snowdin

Once everyone had finished their business in Snowdin, they would find themselves at a wagon pulled by a strange creature.

"Boma!"

"Cute, huh?" Anna said, taking a seat on the wagon. "I found her on the outskirts of town a few days ago. She seems real excited to go to Snowpoint, so I figured she could help us pull the wagon!"

There was space for a few people to take a seat if they wanted, but for the most part it appeared everyone was to be walking. "Anything we gotta look out for, Karin?" Caspar asked.

"Well, as far as I remember, there are a few puzzles up ahead," Karin replied, walking alongside the wagon. "But they were all rather...oh, what's the word..."

"They sucked!" Birdie chimed in. "Don't even gotta think about 'em, it's that easy."

"Indeed. Other than that, though...whatever awaits us further on into Snowpoint, I suppose. Stay on your guard, everyone. I have no idea what to expect."

Snowdin - Princess of Renais

Seeing as there wasn't many seats on the wagon, Eirika agreed to herself that she would be walking to escort them to their destination. Keeping her Rapier; Sieglinde with her, she took note of those "puzzles" they referred to.

"We shall do our best to ensure we get to our destination. Hopefully we won't need to worry about anything attacking us..."

Snowpoint - Mercury Adept of Imil

There was no wagon to pull, no additional escorts for aid in Snowpoint. It was made very clear very quickly that this little group was on its own. The townsfolk did cheer them on as they ventured out, at least.

Hubert seemed unimpressed. "You would think they would set out themselves, considering they are the ones who live here."

"Had we waited, I'm sure they would have." Iroha frowned. "But if Candice is missing, I'm certain that's damaged morale quite a bit."

"This Candice...is she the town leader?"

"Somewhat. I'm not entirely sure how being a gym leader works, but from what I hear, they are known throughout their region as being powerful Pokemon trainers. Oh-those are creatures that live in their world. Apparently people do battle with them and work alongside them." Iroha paused. "It's...nice, isn't it? The two being able to coexist so easily?"

"If those creatures are populous there, then I suppose it's a necessity." Hubert had taken the lead, being the only one to have made it through. The group found itself surrounded by trees, a dense forest of pine surrounding them. "But there's not one Pokemon in sight. No doubt the beast took care of that itself."

"...I certainly hope not. But that's all the more reason to stop it!"

Mia listened intently to what was going on. A beast was killing 'pokemon' which she is beginning to assume are natural in this area, and that these trainers are powerful people. She couldn't help but wonder if this kind of thing could be replicated back home with the monsters... No, probably not since they attack on sight.

"I'll help as best as I can. I can use my Mercury Psynergy to heal if anyone gets hurt."

" I think I will take a seat. Wait, I know what that is. Since we used a lot of fun of hose for our play fighting before the melding, that's one of those pokemon. I never did learn any names for them. It was hard enough too remember you could use them. I do like easy puzzles,"
he told her,

Paula

Paula looked at the ground and took a moment. She looked over at the Lucario. "Are you going to be okay even against a monster who kills your kind? She asked. She hoped they would be powerful enough to stop this monster.

"Boma!" The Pokemon bellowed cheerfully at Ness, starting off when everyone was ready. A harness was strapped to her body, allowing her to pull the wagon with ease. "Just follow along, all of you walking," Karin said, sitting beside Anna at the front. "We should be at Snowpoint in no time!"

As you left Snowdin, you found yourself travelling down the same route you'd escaped from the robots from. The further you got from town, the more you could see evidence of the carnage left in the Doctors' wake. The tall trees surrounding you went from having minor scratches on them to being gouged into, or even toppled over in some cases. Though snow had fallen over time, there were still remnants of that first horrible day buried in snowbanks.

"Aw, man..." Caspar surveyed the scene, picking up a pair of broken eyeglasses sticking out of the snow. "Those robots really trashed this place, huh?"

"Indeed, they did." Karin replied, her expression stony. "You were one of the lucky ones, Caspar. Not everyone started out in a city like you did. Why, Birdie and I were dropped into a rundown old theme park, ourselves."

"Creepiest place I ever been in," Birdie added with a shudder. "Can't even take a burger outta there without gettin' jumped by weasels with mallets!"

"Well, I'm not gonna let anyone else get hurt while all this Melding stuff is going on!" Caspar dropped the glasses and clenched his fist. "Come on, guys, we gotta-Anna?"

Anna had hopped down and was digging through the snowbanks. "What? Just...curious!"

"We will NOT be eating any Pokemon!" Iroha frowned at the group, though was she sweating a bit? "B-Besides! We may not be out here that long, a-and even if we are, there may be berries we can eat!"

Meanwhile, Hubert looked over at Angel with disdain. "Before we leave the city," he asked, "Perhaps you would like to see if there are any clothes you could borrow that are better suited for this weather?"

Hilda gave the man a courtsy bow. "Hilda Valentine Goneril, a pleasure to meet you!"

Snowpoint

Angel didn't seem to be the smartest person in the group but even she seemed to catch on quite quickly "Oh you can't talk? Bummer, now you can't tell me why you're so hot..." She went in to touch Quiet's bare skin curious is she actually was warm to the touch.

"Annette!"
Hilda exclaimed in surprise as the former Blue Lion student stepped into Grillbys. Wasting no time Hilda swept in to give her a hug. "This really is an academy reunion! How have you been? How did you end up here?"

"Hilda!" Annette perked up, returning the hug. When asked how she ended up where she did, the former student pulled away slightly.

"Well, I was just getting back together with some classmates when this whole melding started! It was pretty surprising, really, it kind of throws everything on it's head you know?" She sighed.

"No way! Annette!!" Caspar waved at the other Fódlan native. "All right!! We got this mission now!!"

"Marvelous!" Karin clasped her hands together. "In that case, we will embark in an hour! Go on and use that time to do whatever you need, say your goodbyes, and then...we will be off!"

"And don't even worry over leftovers," Birdie added, rubbing his hands together as he looked over the table. "I can take care of that right quick!"

---

Free of Angel, Hubert groaned, massaging his face lightly. A small white glow seemed to emenate from his fingertips and the redness from the attack started to dissipate. "Yes, well. As long as we are all able to work together without being at each others' throats, I will be at your service."

Itoha smiled, feeling more at ease as everyone started to get along with each other. "Okay, then. In that case, I think we may be ready to go forth."

As the others mentioned eating Pokemon Hoku's ears folded back as a displeased growl rumbled in his throat.

Ears perked, he placed his paw on her head. He still looked displeased with the subject matter from seconds ago, but his growling had stopped. Sure eating other Pokemon was a survival thing, and humans doing it likely wasn't anything new, but it still upset him a little.

"I'll be fine, my kind are tough. Besides, our group seems...capable." he reassured, although with a little hesitation.

He did narrow his eyes as he noticed Iroha seemed to be sweating. For some reason, he didn't like that reaction.

Eirika continued to walk alongside the Caravan, keeping an eye out for any potential dangers. Seeing all the damage caused by those unknown robotic attackers left a bad mark on her as this would of been the result of Magvel if the Demon King had of been able to cause havoc.

Overhearing the conversation about eating Pokemon, Mia looked disgusted by such an action. From what she had to assume about the creatures, they were mostly friendly beings seeing as a fair amount of people had them. That was when Hubert asked about whether people wanted clothes suitable for the weather.

"I'll be okay with what I have. I lived in a snowy environment so my clothes keep me warm alongside my mastery of Mercury, I should be okay. Please do not worry about me."

Christopher, who was on the wagon, heard the girl’s comments, and thought back to his son. He and Soleil were separated during the attack of those artificial warriors. He’s unsure if he’s even alive, but knowing his son he’s certain the boy is still alive in Snowpoint or an area around Snowpoint.

“Sometimes I ask that question to myself,” Christopher says, “but I just keep trekking on.”

He continues “Sometimes things happen with no rhyme or reason. Bad things can happen without any cause, it’s just nature. The Black Plague killed millions in my world, and it was all because of an Oriental rat, not any great beast or monster.”

" I think we can make sure to bring some food so that we don't have to destroy any local wildlife or upset any of our teammates. I think Hoku is right that we can work together. We can't dawdle though. The longer we take, the more likely we will lose the monster."

Up ahead, a snowcapped tree sat, covered with berries of all shapes and sizes. The maid walked up to it, giving it a little shake. A big blue berry fell to the ground, which she held up for all to see. "You see? I hear the berries in this world are quite filling."

Meanwhile, Caspar's jaw hung open at what Christopher said. "How can one little rat kill millions?! Were they able to catch the little guy, at least?"

“Well, it didn’t directly wipe out half of a continent since it was carrying a plague known as the Black Death,” he spoke, “Two centuries prior to my birth the Black Death wiped out millions of people across the continent of Europe, and tore the many kingdoms within apart internally, since it was, indeed, a plague.”

"Hilda's right, we should see if there's any next of kin in case the one this belongs to can't be found." Annette agreed, not feeling right about taking a lost item from someone that might be alive and had some kind of sentimental value with the necklace.

Meanwhile, Hoku would look at the tree, ears perked and alert for any sign of danger nearby.

"Small Pokemon might be hiding in the trees, so be careful when you shake them." He said, before moving to shake it again.

If there were any Pokemon left it'd be best to have him get attacked, or to at least see if he could communicate with it and see if it knew what went on in the area.

If anymore berries fell, he'd give the first one he'd catch to Paula.

"...oh. Just carrying a plague, huh?" Caspar sounded considerably disappointed at that. "There's gotta be at least ONE world with killer rats out there..."

"Well, if there was," Karin said, "it would be the perfect opportunity to get into the mousetrap business."

"Y'know, from all the cartoons I watched growin' up, I figured I'd see more of those around in real life," Birdie mused, stuffing a pocketwatch into his vest pocket...for safekeeping when looking for next of kin, of course. "Layin' about and waitin' to snap--"

SNAP!

"OW!!"

"Like that!"

Anna howled, yanking her hand up from the snowbank, where a tiny mousetrap hung off her finger. "Who would leave a mousetrap hanging around, anyway?"

"That would be me!" Birdie said. As Anna glared at him he shook his hand in the air, where he held a note. "Just readin', mate! This note fell off that trap!"

"Well read it! I need to know who to sue for this..."

Clearing his throat, Birdie began to read. "'That would be me! Because I bet you just asked who left this here? If you didn't, ask now and start this note over again. You done? Good. I left this here, as a warning not to mess with the Super Lance Brothers! We got way more traps ahead, with more danger and less mice than you can even imagine! Stay out of our mountain pass, and you'll have nothing to worry about. But go on ahead, and all you'll be able to do is worry...and get trapped! And maybe even cry. Angel would find this berry was nice and juicy, and had a simple fruity taste. Hoku would recognize it as an Oran Berry. He also wouldn't notice any danger for the time being as he shook the tree, as a pink Pecha Berry, a green Rawst Berry, and a red Cheri Berry all fell to the ground.

Hugs and kisses...Little Lance Bro.' Well, uh...it's certainly somethin'."

CHRISTOPHER

“I would be lying if I said I haven’t faced off against rat beasts in the past...”

Suddenly, Birdie got his fingers trapped in the mousetrap and got Christopher’s attention.

“Well, these Lance brothers seem to be rather harmless, if I do say so myself,” Christopher spoke, “I mean, most of us aren’t going to be affected by little mousetraps and things like that.”

QUIET

Quiet noticed the berry that Angel ate, and inspected the berries Hoku shook on the ground. She took a survival knife and cut a slit into the Pecha Berry, squeezing out a drop of juice and letting it land on her forehead. From there, the liquid seemed to dissipate, and her body shook a little. She was drinking the juice drop through her skin.

"Can you even own a mountain pass?" Annette asked as she crossed her arms. These Lance brothers seemed like they'd slow their progress down.

Hoku picked up the Cheri berry and held it out for Paula, while he bit into the Rawst berry himself.

"That's not what I mean- you know what, never mind, I feel like the point will be missed. I am not sure if that note was supposed to make us turn back or cute, it seems to have this air that it was doing both. I don't think the do, they probably just think they do. We can probably take them. Maybe it's them who is stopping the travelers with their traps."

Paula

" Thank you for the berry, Hoku. I am happy to know that no pokemon were in the tree," she replied as she bit into the Cheri Berry.

"Sounds like more work than it's worth," Hilda lamented. "I know we got to continue on to save everyone, but who would've thought we'd get something like this to worry about?"

"Well that'll take care of me for a bit,"
Angel replied content as she mosied back under Hubert's cape. "You should try one of those things Hubbie! Maybe they'd give you some complexion and not have you look like a scary ghost!"

"Well, if these...Lance Brothers are the ones causing trouble in the pass, then I suppose it's our job to stop them," Karin said, walking up to the snowbank and sweeping her foot against it. Sure enough, there were a few more mousetraps lying in wait, but no notes seemed to be attached. "With any luck these traps of theirs are on par with whatever else they have in store."

Anna had managed to get the mousetrap off by now and buried her fingers in the snow. "Ugh, I sure hope that isn't broken," she groaned. "I doubt we have any healers waltzing around..."

Cadpar shrugged apologetically. "Yeeeaaah, my professor never had me go to choir practice much. If my buddy Lin were here though, he could patch you up! He's like the best healer ever!"

"So, once she finishes coolin' off that injury, are we gonna get a move on?" Birdie got up, not wanting to risk setting off a mousetrap himself. "I'm lookin' forward to givin' them brothers a thrashin'."

---

The Rawst Berry had a decent taste, slightly bitter but not nearly as flavorful as the Cheri Berry given to Paula. That one was very spicy. Meanwhile, the juice Quiet would absorb, if she were able to taste flavors, would be quite sweet. Unlike Angel's Oran Berry, these would have no real effect on anyone consuming them.

"I'll be fine, thank you," Hubert said, a look of grim resignation on his face as he realized Angel would not be leaving him alone anytime soon. "Though it may do us some good to bring a few for our journey, Iroha."

"If you say so!" Iroha smiled and shook the tree vigorously, and a variety of Berries of all colors and shapes fell. The msid started gathering them up. "Reds, greens, blues, yellows, pinks...I suppose the colors give hints to what the flavors are? And I hear they can be used for a variety of ailments. I wonder which does what..."

“They may need this ‘thrashing’ as you so eloquently put it. I remember one time there was a man named Gregory in my township. He sold various vegetables like carrots and onions. One day he claimed he could take on a werewolf. One showed up, beat him up so good he ran away and never came back!”
