Akashic Arcana Of Mochi and Peppermint Tea

JessieJames

Dream as if you were dying.
There was so much of it. Just laying around waiting tantalizingly for someone to just take it and devour it. The sweet scent caused a purr to rumble through his slim chest as he moved further into the tea shop of the cafeteria. Cases of various types of treats could be found lining the length of the counter with advertisements for certain drinks and desserts they served.

The lithe being slipped up to the glass covered displays as they noticed no one was around. Another purring sound slipped from them as they gazed upon treats unlike any they had ever seen. Tiny round balls of varying frosted colors were pilled in pyramids within the display. Even this close Sabra Anubis could feel the cold that rose from the structure without need to touch it. A banner across the top of the case read 'Mochi' while little card in front of each plate read flavors. Some he had never even heard of.

"Red bean," He murmured softly. His voice was soft while being too low for woman's voice but still seemed too high to be a man's. Large violet eyes stared from a slender face framed in layered black hair. At the crown two toughs seemed to defy gravity and fanned up like ears to the sides of his head. They were dressed in their normal attire of skin tight black shirt that showed off far more skin than it hid and baggy knee length pants. A collar of gold was wrapped around his neck with a sunburst and ruby drop hanging from it. A belt of similar design was coiled around his hips, "Strawberry, too..."

His gaze lifted as someone appeared to take his request, "Peppermint tea and two of both the red bean and strawberry, please."

Perhaps coming to this place wouldn't be as bad as he had originally thought. His nightmare the other night might as well have been nothing more than a passing memory he thought as he watched the lady behind the counter get what he requested. His surprise was peaked by the way she quartered that mochi before placing it into a glass bowl then handed it to him on a tray with a small pot of tea. Carefully he carried it to a corner so he could eat alone and in peace.

Pouring the tea into the small cup that matched pot he smiled as the scent reminded him a little of home. His master had loved peppermint. A smile crossed his lips as he settle down to eat his meal, "Asante kwa chakula hiki, Anubis."(Thank you for this meal, Anubis.)

The Cafeteria was a common place for gathering on Arcadia between classes and club activities. Sabra wasn't the only one who visited the Mochi and Teashop, as it was quite a popular spot to shop during lunchtime. A few students tilted their head, finding the Egyptian Student quite interesting, if not, peculiar. His appearance was rather androgynous. Men questioning their attraction, women swooning for a moment over the prospect of Anubis actually being a handsome prince from the far East. In any case, no one seemed to bother him as he was enjoying his mochi in peace. However, flashback to the time when he was buying the desert and tea, another student was standing in line behind him. And not just anyone.

Sakuya looked curiously towards the cute looking boy taking such interest in Mochi and tea. She couldn't help but smile, even after he already left. When it was her turn, Sakuya approached the clerk before ordering as well. "A pot of Bancha, please. And could I ask you to add extra herbs?" Sakuya slowly found her purse before paying for her order in equal amount in cash.

Once the nice lady had given Sakuya tray with an oriental pot and wooden cup. She expressed her gratitude before gradually making her way to find a table to sit out until her next class. As she gazed around the school, all she could see were full tables and on-going conversations with people she did not know. A single spot was vacant, and there sat the Egyptian boy earlier.

As Sakuya made her stride towards Sabra, she approached him from a respectable distance, before getting within his vision range. "Would you mind some company?" She offered Sabra a radiant smile, and once he looked at her, she could see that Sakuya stood out. No because of her looks, but more the fact that she carried a beautiful 1 meter long blue katana in a scabbard behind her back. Her eyes seem to be closed as she smiles towards Sabra, and she wore a noble looking Imperial Uniform with a short skirt. Her long raven dark hair fell in soft dark cascades over her shoulders and back, her skin pale as snow, and with her Japanese heritage, it seems as if she met the requirements of beauty ideals sat by her culture.

"Sakuya Kyoya, nice to meet you-" She stopped in mid-sentence, it seems like something was very wrong. The perfect image of a beautiful noble lady shattered as red liquid started to run down her lower lips. Then it just started to flow into a stream of blood. Sakuya puts the tray down on Anubis' table before reaching into her jacket for a black handkerchief. She swiftly tries to staunch the blood coming from her mouth before coughing repeatedly into it with a muffled sound.

Born with weak constitutions since birth, the girl suffers from illness as a daily basis, and at random times, her lungs become filled with blood, in which she has to expel by literally coughing her guts out.

A piece of strawberry mochi was at his lips as he noticed his vision of the room being disrupted by something or rather someone. His large violet eyes lifted as he took in everything from a slim waist that narrowed inward before a pair of luscious breast clad in that uniform he couldn't quite remember what was form, a tray was held just below them heavy with a pot of tea he couldn't make out just yet over his own meal. From there he took in the strong shoulders that held little tension. A face of pale complexion so white he thought surely she was ill. Those eyes though, dark like his very soul while still being bright enough to see. Alive and fighting for all life has to offer.

"Please, join me," He murmured softly as he put down his mochi bite and stood stood holding his hand out palm up in a motion to the chair she should take. As she started to introduce herself he noticed blood on her lips. It was a scent he could easily wind over the strong peppermint of his own tea. Without thought of custom or how it might be taken he was around the table in a matter of seconds taking her cheeks in his soft hands drawing her face towards his own as he studied her bloody lips.

Perhaps it was simply instinct for him even after she was done coughing into her handkerchief he continued to examine her mouth as if the problem was right there on the surface. Leaning forward more he breathed in the scent of the blood. It was a brighter read and slightly bubbly telling him it came from her lungs. Sadly there wasn't much he could do for that. He licked her bottom lip in such a way that it might be taken as an apology. Sabra had wanted to help her, "I'm Sabra Anubis. Please call me Sa."

Sakuya was about to turn tails and run as her condition started to flare up once again. However, as she felt a pair of warm hands cup her cheek, she remained frozen in place. He looked at her with such curiosity that soft shades of pink formed on her cheeks. Yet, she couldn't stop herself from deftly moving her handkerchief up to her lips to cover up the blood that was coughed out from her lungs. Through it all, it felt like her oxygen was all gone from her lungs after she finished. As she gently lowered her blood-stained cloth from her lips, she was about to say something to Sa, but was interrupted as she felt something warm and slick run over her bottom lip, cleaning up the faint trace of blood on her lip.

She was stunned furthermore, a few people were looking at them before Sakuya's eyes flared up together with her face shifting from pale white to red. She felt extremely flustered and had to back off from this very strange boy by several steps. "N-Nice to meet you too Sa..." She knew that her blood and condition itself wasn't infectious, as her illness came from a pair of dysfunctional lungs, and not from Bacteria. Yet, going about licking people randomly and their blood isn't regarded as normal.

"But please don't do that again... touching another person's lips is meant for people in an intimate relationship... not for people who just met less than a minute ago."

A soft smile formed on her lips as she regained her composure and found a seat across the table to Anubis, she slowly pulled her tray closer before pouring herself a cup of medicinal tea to help with her throat irritation. The liquid was deep murky green and had the scent of moss and dirt. It was certainly going to be bitter, but the healing properties is what the Bancha tea is known for.

Large purple eyes blinked at the female as she requested he not do that to her again. Never in his existence had he been pushed away much less told no. Stepping back slightly he tilted his head to the side trying to understand if he had gone too far. Being raised like one was a god often left them unsure how to behave as a normal human being. Returning to his seat carefully Sa kept an eye on the sick look woman who's cheeks were now flushed bright pink. He hoped she wasn't running a fever now. The young priest hadn't noticed an abnormal heat when he licked her lips.

"Intimate relationship..." It clearly puzzled him, "What is that? Is it like the relationship I share with Anubis? Where his soul lives within my own?"

It was sad to say but despite being powerful and housing a rather deadly jackal within his soul he was blind to how people interacted. Sipping his tea he continued to think about the way in which people seemed to either stare at him with lust in their eyes or hate. Men and women seemed confused by his actions as well as his state of dress. Not that he bothered with more than was modest even with in the confides of temple life. His fingers trailed over the high gold collar around his neck. It served as a bind to keep the powerful spirit within him at bay.

The more confused he became the more he could feel the caged animal digging at the edges of his mind demanding release. He couldn't blame him being caged wasn't fun. But he did wish he could breath a little more easily. A soft growling tone only he could hear told him his thoughts had reached the beast that slowly laid down as if waiting for something more to cause him to go over the edge where he could break free of his chains and to the surface of their shared body. His hand tightened around the tiny cup in his hands causing it to creak under the strain. The sound made him quickly let it go as he stood bowed then quickly down the rest of his frozen treat. Wincing at the effect it had on his mind he slipped away from the table afraid he might hurt someone should he loose control.

Sakuya blinked her eyes, as she couldn't stay mad at Anubis due to his oblivious personality. Such was cultural differences at its best, and based on Sa's outfit, Sakuya already dedicated out of his name that he hails from Egypt. But the surname stroke her as odd. "Anubis?..." She said the name with curiosity. "I have not heard of Egyptians with surnames that were that of their Gods. But judging on your outfit, are you related to the Sect of Anubis?... But even so, your surname is really peculiar."

To Sabra's question about an intimate relationship, Sakuya only snickered in a soft tone, even bringing her white-gloved hand to cover her lips. "An intimate relationship, like a husband and wife-... Wait, did you just say that the Lord of the Sacred Land shares a connection to you?.." She was surprised, such a powerful being sharing a vessel with a mortal must mean that Sabra is no push-over in any respect. However, seeing him slipping away from the table made Sakuya concerned. "Sabra?... Are you okay? Do you want me to take you to the nurse's office?"

She asked in kindness, Sakuya even leaving her tea and picked up her katana sword before setting off after Anubis.

His breath hitched slightly as he paused like a hound that heard its name being called. Glancing over his shoulder at the woman as she stood to follow him. A whimper escaped his lips as he turned back around to fully face, "I'm sorry but I think that should be where you go more than myself. I don't like the smell of that place."

Sabra remembered quite well when he first came to this place they had lead him into the large hospital like area that left him trying to not breath in the over powering scent of bleach and other cleaning chemicals. Many seemed to underestimate how sensitive his nose could be as well as his hearing. Moving closer he glanced her over then at her tea left on the table along with his own. It saddened him to not finish it. Torn as he was as well a confuse he could feel Anubis pushing on his mind again. He winced slightly at the pain it caused and put a hand to his forehead.

"Tafadhali nia kupigana, Anubis," He whispered in Swahili before glancing into those concerned eyes of the girl before him. Slowly the pressure eased till he felt he could explain for a moment, "I only have a first name. Anubis is another name I am called because I am his doll. He live inside me."

He couldn't remember ever explaining this to someone before so he didn't know if he was doing that great of a job. He gave her a soft smile as he turned to walk from the shop. The young priest was in need of a breath of fresh air.
