Prologue- It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

" You know what to do once the party has started?"

" Find someone to murder Santa Claus and start sowing seeds of discontent, however I can, replacing the good version of me without arousing any of the smarter guests. I got it, Pitch."

" Good. Now go."

Christmas has always been my favorite time of year, even since I was a little girl. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that my dad is Santa Claus, maybe it's the magic of the season and seeing all of the happy children getting what they want. As the person to officially bring in the Christmas cheer, I decided to throw a special holiday party to some of the best people I could find across the multiverse.....who were in need of some Christmas cheer.

Maybe you were just sitting around by a roaring fireplace, perhaps you were in the middle of some grand battle, but it didn't quite matter where you were. A very elaborately designed card would land in your hand. It would have your name on it and written in the most beautiful handwriting imaginable, it read: In need of some holiday cheer or just looking for a good time? You are personally invited to the party of Noelle Claus. Don't worry about transportation, just close your eyes, and you will be there. Oh and there will be a special gift for all of you at the end of the party.

As soon as you would close your eyes, you would find yourself in a picture perfect town.

Though it was a little cold. It seems that there was an open door, inviting you in. It would be wise to go there as the longer you stood still, the most noticeable the cold weather would get.

"Oh good, I was worried that my card wasn't getting to you guys. Please do sit and enjoy some Christmas cookies or mingle with the guests. My name is Noelle. Some of my family is around if you want to talk too as are some other guests."

Once inside, there were three places of note. One was a group of what could only be described as three men dressed in various similar spandex colored suits chatting among themselves. The second thing was another man dressed in business casual talking to a larger man in a red suit. To anyone who was familiar with the Christmas season, they would recognize the red suit as Santa Claus. Last but certainly not least as Noelle mentioned, there was a tray of cookies with three men currently quietly standing by it, none seeming interested to be talked too, two seeming to look at Noelle with a glare and the other looking very confused.

Of course, there was the option to talk amongst yourselves or to the hostess.... or if you were feeling particularly adventurous, looking for Santa's reindeers or the famous elves he was known for. The choice was yours.

Aoi could see his breath as he spoke. He shivered and bitterly entered the building. He never was one for the cold, and certainly wasn't dressed for the weather. He scowled at Noelle, and everything else that was in this room. It was clear Aoi lacked any sort of Christmas cheer at the moment. It would take a lot of effort to infect him with tidings and good cheer. He kept his bare arms crossed close to his chest, hoping to warm up. He'd been close enough to freezing to death once before.

"Noelle, was it? What was in that card? Did you knock me out just to bring me to some stupid party?"

HEARTMAN PROLOGUE - NO LUCK

Administering shock. Stand clear.

A loud whirring of mechanics in a machine starts up, a large jolt of electricity, and a loud gasp.

This is what happens every 21 minutes of Heartman’s life.

“No luck,” Heartman mutters, before reaching out his cuff link and twisting his arm left and right, “visit 218,610”

He bangs his hourglass on the table and the rising sand begins to fall, ticking 21 minutes until his next death.

Heartman lives his life in this never-ending cycle, searching for his family and researching The Beach on behalf of Bridges.

Something, however, catches the eye of Heartman, a golden letter addressed to him. It has his name written on it in cursive.

He flips open the letter and reads it.

In need of some holiday cheer or just looking for a good time? You are personally invited to the party of Noelle Claus. Don't worry about transportation, just close your eyes, and you will be there. Oh and there will be a special gift for all of you at the end of the party.

Heartman sets aside the letter and heads toward his collection of short films. He picks out “Twenty Minutes of Love”, before setting it down on a table.

But none of that happened, because Heartman blinked as soon as he closed the letter, and he found himself in a town with a crowd and a woman standing in front of him.

"Oh good, I was worried that my card wasn't getting to you guys. Please do sit and enjoy some Christmas cookies or mingle with the guests. My name is Noelle. Some of my family is around if you want to talk too as are some other guests."

Heartman was genuinely confused at this point. He had only heard of Christmas in his research of life before the Death Stranding, and had never celebrated the old holiday himself.

Also, not to mention, how the hell he got here.

“Uh, excuse me, ma’am, but what is all of this?” Heartman pondered to the woman, Noelle.

LITTLE MY PROLOGUE - THE BIGGEST PARTY

Little My was merrily strolling about the sunny Moominvalley, leading in front of her friends Moomin and Snufkin.

Soon, a mailman came around the bend.

“Letter for Little My, although I don’t know why anyone would want to write to you,”

“HEY!” Little My shouted. She ran at the mailman but was held back by Moomin.

She got the beautiful golden letter, addressed to her in gorgeous handwriting. She read it and closed her eyes, causing her to head into that town.

She ran inside the open door and found a plate full of cookies, chowing down on them as fast as she could.

“Mmm! These are yummy!” Little My said, her mouth filled with cookies.

Ciri hadn't been expecting to be dragged to another world all of a sudden, especially after reading a letter. She thought she was done with all that long ago.

But, this place had both elements of her world, but also some of that strange world she was in for six months. There was something about the bildings that reminded her of her world. The technology was that of the strange world. And what was this "Christmas" that was being discussed? It seemed to be some kind of Midwinter holiday, much like Yule.

She had been brought to celebrate a party, according to this Noelle. However, someone with the power to teleport across realms was a very power individual, and for one to bring the Empress of Niflgaard and a Witcher could be a very dangerous entity indeed.

She approached the table, grabbed a cookie, and then watched this Noelle from afar, sword on her back.

"Major!!!" Snake roared into his earpiece, sending static screeching down the line. "Major, it's real!!"

"Snake, I can't hear you." The Major replied. "This line is horrendous… Where are you calling from?"

"The North Pole!"

"The North... Is this some kind of joke?"

"No, sir! I'm at the North Pole! I swear!!"

"How did you get... Perhaps it's better that I don't ask... Where abouts are you?"

"The North P--"

"Where abouts in the North Pole? A Soviet Research Facility?"

"No, I'm at Santa's Workshop!"

"W--"

"Major?"

"---"

"Major, are you still there? Major? Major!!"

"I'm still here Snake... just lost for words... You can't seriously believe that you're at---"

"I do! And I am! I can see Santa and--"

"Snake, get a hold of yourself! Are you sure you're not just at a holiday mall or something?"

"Major! I'm telling you! I'm at the North Pole!"

"Snake, this has gone on long enough. You're delusional. I'm putting the medic on."

"No! Listen to me I'm--"

"Snake, this is Para-Medic. The Major says you might be suffering from hypothermia. How are you feeling--"

"That's it! I'm going to get proof! I'm going to prove to you all that he's real!"

"Snake, what are you planning--"

"Hope you're ready to eat your words, Major. Over and Out!!!"

[VZZZ-WIRR]

Snake deactivated his radio and began to take in the scenery. It was just like he had imagined it. Just like the storybooks.

His eyes locked onto a familiar face.

"S-s-santa… He's... here...Grrhh..." His hand instinctively reached for his belt. "No use in trying to sneak around... guess I'll just have to go say hi..."

"What's this strange place?"

"Morikubo... wishes she was home right now..."

"Fuhihi... let's go..."

"Good idea- wait a second..."

The smallest of this strange trio, the one with the longest hair and the stray hair spurting out like a single antannae, walks up to the door before them and kicks it open.

"It's so beautiful..."

"Don't you think it's a bit suspicious that an entire Christmas party just spawned in front of us?"

"Actually, it's a good opportunity, fuhihi..." the smallest one says, "I can surely find a lot of couples here..."

"I thought you hated the sight of people in romantic relationships."

"Exactly."

The grin from the smallest one intimidated her two friends.

But that aside, they decided to fill themselves up with cookies.

"What is this?" the timid-looking yet tallest of the trio lifted Little My from the ground, avoiding eye contact with the little one at all costs.

Meanwhile, the smallest one's hands tapped onto the same cookie that Ciri tapped upon, causing her stray hair to alter in shape to that of the tail of a music note.

"Soooo... come here often?"

"Yeeeaaah, this is going well," the eyepatched leader sarcastically comments.

Meanwhile, the smallest one's hands tapped onto the same cookie that Ciri tapped upon, causing her stray hair to alter in shape to that of the tail of a music note.

"Soooo... come here often?"

Ciri was interrupted from her vigil by a hand grabbing her cookie. She looked at the arm connected to the hand and saw it belonged to someone no larger than a child. She let out a laugh.

"First time." She said, putting her other hand on her sword. "I'm still trying to figure out what's going on myself."

"Fuhihi... same here..." the little one replied, "the tension's almost stressing me out..."

The strange hair began to twitch.

"The name's Hoshi Shouko. I'm from a family-name-first kind of place... so, what's your name?"

The group could hear a slow golf clap coming from behind them. "Bravo, bravo! Such a dramatic and sudden summoning. I'm almost jealous."

A tall, reptilian looking being walked up and bowed. "I'm a friend of theatrics, the name's Double Trouble and for the right price..." They looked up with a toothy grin on their face. "I'll be your new best friend."

Unfortunately, this newcomer just interrupted her one on one with the large amounts of cookies she was gonna eat, which, unfortunately, is now spread all over the ground.

Prologue - A Christmas Investigation

It was a new morning in the house of a Richard Castle and Detective Kate Beckett. They were fast asleep together in bed when the sun's rays shined through the windows. Castle was the first to awaken.

"Good Morning... *yawn*"
"Last night was certainly something, Castle..."
"Yeah. Who would of thought the killer was under their noses the entire time and wanted revenge against his fellow co-workers."
"Well he'll be busy plotting his revenge behind bars."
"We really do make a great team."
"Oh, Castle~"

That was when Castle's mother, Martha, came into the room right as they were kissing.

"Oh! I hope I'm not interrupting anything..."
"You're okay, Mother. What's that you got there?"
"Well. You two have been invited to a Christmas Party by a... Noelle Claus."
"A Christmas Party? Well we don't have anything planned, right?"
"No, Captain Gates told me to take the day off so..."
"Want to go celebrate Christmas?"
"Yes!"
"You two love birds go and have fun while me and Alexis hold down the fort."
"Thank you, mother."

Once they opened the letter, they had read the odd instructions and thought this added to the effect, so when they did, it did exactly what it said it'd do; teleport them to a extremely cold environment!

As soon as you would close your eyes, you would find yourself in a picture perfect town.

"C-C-Castle...!"
"Yeah, I'm h-h-here, god it's freezing!"
"There's an open door over there, hurry!"

The two of them ran inside to find there was a lot going on, lots of people seemed to be gathered including the one who invited them:

"Oh good, I was worried that my card wasn't getting to you guys. Please do sit and enjoy some Christmas cookies or mingle with the guests. My name is Noelle. Some of my family is around if you want to talk too as are some other guests."

"Thank you for inviting us~"

"And might I say this place is looking exactly like in those Christmas movies, loving the decor, especially all the Elf costumes. That is a fantastic Miss's Claus cosplay you've got there! This will be amazing material for my next book!"

"Nono! You can't just pick people up like that!" The eyepatched leader frowned at the timid one while she grabs a cookie off the pile that Little My was on and bites into it.

"Hey, these aren't too bad."

It was a good thing Simon finished something important, else him disappearing like he did would of ended badly.

Though, disappearing while in the middle of conversing with Elias Ainsworth probably still looked bad.

Coughing softly as the cold.quickly seeped into him, Simon went to enter the building. He made it two steps in before someone sped past him and made a beeline for Noelle.

"You." Stopping in front of the hostess stood Gabriella.

"You're responsible for us being here, yes? Why exactly, would you bring the likes of us to your little party?" She questioned, reaching to grab Noelle by the collar.

"Gabriella, don't do that!" Simon scolded the nun lightly in exasperation.

"Hmph, I was simply asking a question." Gabriella would let Noelle go and return to his side.

"You know I meant about you grabbing at her." Simon sighed, earning a slight grin from the nun.

"Oh, I know." She hummed in slight amusement. Though a thoughtful look crossed her features. "Simon, why don't you mingle, hm? It might do you some good. I'll keep an eye out for you in case you get in any trouble. However..." She spoke, her voice lowering towards the end as she glanced to the priest next to her.

"Be careful with what you eat here, hm? After all, you can't trust everyone's cooking." She warned softly.

"Gabriella..." He started, then sighed before turning to Noelle.

"I'm sorry for her, she's a little worked up, being in a new place so suddenly after all." He spoke, internally dreading the report he might have to make after this.
