She would break into a room where four soldiers in Nasher gear stood around crates and weapon stands. They seemed surprised and grabbed weapons to charge. Suddenly, Boward kicked down the door. She fired a crossbow into one, causing him to collapse n pain. "Let's go!" She shouted, loading another bolt.

Clarisse created two explosions - one to blow the remaining enemies backwards and another to weaken the ceiling so that it collapses upon them.

Taric nodded. "Good day, sir. Yes, we are looking for Xalliana, as she's gone missing. Her last known whereabouts were in this district...do you know anything that may be of use to our search?"

The painting was a large one of a dragon destroying a city. The title was "Waterdeep" and the painter was Osril Vekere. The painting seemed to move. The elf woman appeared to be Valerie, the one who had been watching the group during the riot. She put her head down and went back into the crowd.

A man in purple robes came up. "Beautiful painting ain't it?" He said.

The two nobles would stop their conversation for a second. "Excuse us, sorry. We were just discussing the future of the cult." The woman said. "The Cult of the Dragon seeks to move the races forward by bringing forth Tiamat. The leader Severin Silraijin hopes to bring new life to the cult." She said.

The two looked confused at each other during the Kazuma-Megumin kerfuffle.

Oh man this was great! "Awesome!" Scorpia gave them a thumbs ups...or in her case a claws up. Seeing that the four soldiers were being taken care of Scorpia looked around to see if there was anything else that caught her eye, or someone that needed a clobbering.

@Ver @Gummi Bunnies @Takumi @Kaykay @Minerva

Elizia's attention seemed occupied by the painting now, after she got a good look at the elf woman of course. Sure enough, she was the same one that she had spotted in that crowd when she first arrived.

Why the painting?

Hard to say. Perhaps the scene felt... Familiar to her somehow, reminding her of the calamity Elvarg had caused Crandor and its survivors. While she didn't let it show, she had been fearfull of the dragon. After all, that dragon had destroyed what was once a thriving civilization after she had been awoken from her slumber.

It even went out of its way to decimate the survivors that fled to Edgeville, and many thought that Elvarg would soon strike down upon the rest of Gielinor, but for the time being, the beast had been content remaining where it was, amidst the desolate place it had created for itself.

She remembered the searing pain as she held up her shield to protect herself against that dragon's devastating flames... The fire retardant coating barely held, despite it being designed expressly to counteract such a thing, and each time, the shield grew heavier and heavier, and her arm began to grow numb. All the while she was striking at Elvarg over and over every little chance she got, not even sure if she would win.

In that moment... She wondered if she would become another casualty, another skeleton to add to the many charred bones that lay in the dragon's lair, but... In spite of that very real possibility, a burning feeling still welled up in her chest as she remembered all the lives Elvarg had taken, without a single shred of remorse or pity.

With that, a sudden rush of andrenaline had coursed through her body, and at her next opening, her eyes found a weak point in the dragon's scales, a place in which years upon years of adventurers striking it had finally given way. With that, she seized the moment and drove her hasta deep into Elvarg's heart, putting the dragon down once and for all...

...

Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by someone, one of the cultists in fact commenting about the painting. Although she jumped just a little, she disguised it by taking a small step back and turning around to face the man who had spoken, managing somewhat of a wry smile, hiding her true feelings for the time being.

"It's certainly... Unforgettable." She said.

Although, while her curiousity was peaked, she decided to refrain from asking what the dragon in that painting was called. After all, she was supposed to be posing as an Cultist, right?

And besides, she might be able to find the answer herself with a little looking. That shrine nearby might be a good start, after she dealt with this little conversation anyways.

Boward would nod. “She was last seen in Tower District. There’s a garrison set up there to prevent the Many-Arrows orcs from overrunning the area.” She would furrow her brow. “Xalliana’s one of our best agents.

When you all arrived at Tower District, you would see a bunch of ruins, primarily a watchtower with another energy pillar coming from it with a sign indicating it had been turned into a tavern. A group of guards killed around in heavy armor, an archer held a bow to her hand, looking over the scene from the top of a makeshift wood tower behind a barrier.

A guard approached you all. He pushed back his cloak, revealing a Harper Pin. “I was told you would be coming.” He said calmly. “Something about Xalliana?”

"Indeed." The man said, putting his hand on his sword. "She can take care of herself, but it's pretty worrying not hearing from her in a while." He looked behind him. "There's two places you can check out. The old Guild Hall, where she was last seen, or Base Camp where someone might have more information than I do." He paused. "The Many-Arrows Orcs don't take many prisoners, so be careful if you go to the Guild Hall." He looked behind him again. "I would go with you, but I have to man my post here. I'm sorry."

"Haaah? What do you want?"

Kazuma stopped and gave a pointed, narrowed look toward those who had approached him while he was in the middle of one of his bonding sessions with Megumin, his finger still pointed at her chest, almost as though he had forgotten for a second why he was even here.

He did.

Once he did remember though, the young man coughed himself back into his groove, clearing his throat and forcing out a sheepish laughter. "F-Forgive my manners, it appears I've had a bit much to drink!"

He hadn't had a single drink.

With a composing breath, he gave a more normal look at them, deliberately stepping in front of Megumin before responding to the two. "Is that so? How does Mister Ser... Sil... The leader hope to do that though? I bet trying to get more life in is easier said than done!"

Scorpia pointed an accusing claw towards the three Nashers before making her move to get closer and give one of them a swift punch in the jaw that would probably knock the poor fella out if it connected. She didn't really know why this place was burning...unless her raiding skills had got really impressive.

❝ Yes yes, I've always been highly curious to see what growth shall take place with the coming of Tiamat. ❞ Merlin expressed curiosity when letting that piece of information sink in. It didn't take long for the mage to think up of something to keep the conversation going smoothly.

❝ Speaking of which, how much longer will it take for such an event to occur? It is quite the hefty milestone for this cult, is it not? ❞ He inquires, along with looming a bit closer to the two nobles. He knew what he was doing here.

@Minerva @Ver @Gummi Bunnies @Takumi @Kaykay

Huh, an elf.

Elizia hadn't seen many around during her time exploring Gielinor. Apparently they were a rather secretive race where they came from, specializing in strange, natural tools and ancient magics unlike anything she had heard of.

Due to their distant ties with the Tree Gnomes, she had been searching for more information on their reclusive settlements, hoping to gain entry someday.

And now, here she was, staring one down. Though, come to think of it... This place wasn't quite like Gielinor, considering that woman she noticed earlier that was also an elf.

But that was besides the point, this man, dressed like a Cultist didn't quite look the part. There was a different aura about him, but Elizia couldn't quite place what it was.

For the time being though, she introduced herself in return, deciding to avoid using the name she had mentioned in public not too long ago. It might be for the best to play it safe, even if this Elf wasn't like the other cultists.

"Call me... Liz." She said, offering her hand out in a friendly gesture.

It was odd... Acting all civil in the presense of people who apparently sought to unleash some kind of beastly Dragon upon these lands, but she knew better than to rush in recklessly right now. She needed all the information she could get about how it was going to be brought into this world, as well as what weaknesses it might have, but she couldn't just ask that outright, that would be too suspicious. She would have to be more... Subtle.

"Is it just me, or is that painting moving?" She asked, tilting her head a little as she turned back to the painting thoughtfully.

It was small talk, but perhaps she could sneak in a few questions that might give her some of the information she needed.

Corster crossed his arms and took a closer look at the painting. "That's because it is. Osril Vekere was a mage who contributed to the founding of the cult. His paintings always contain a magical effect. In this one, the flames are moving. I believe he said it was of the infamous prophecy, 'naught will be left save shattered thrones, with no rulers but the dead. Dragons shall rule the world entire...'" He stated referring to the painting. He laughed. "Sorry, got carried away. I'm an artist myself."

"Of course." The man said in reference to the drinking. He took a sip from his own wine cup. He narrowed his eyes at Kazuma.

Answering both Merlin and Kazuma, the woman would nod. "Severin Silraijin." She enunciated and said firmly, "seeks to fulfill Maglas' Prophecy from his 'Chronicles of the Years to Come.'" She looked towards Elizia, Corster, and the painting. "He hopes to do this through his alliance with Thay, resurrecting the Dracoliches, and summoning Tiamat into The Well of Dragons. We support his work through funding and proselytizing. The people of Neverwinter are lost, we will save them."

Elizia
@Minerva @Ver @Gummi Bunnies @Takumi @Kaykay

A flicker of sadness crossed Elizia's face as the prophecy the painting had apparently been based off was told to her.

It spoke of the Kingdoms in ruins... Dragons ruling in the place once mighty Kings and Queens alike stood. Perhaps in some ways, it would be like Crandor Isle all over again, but on a much, much larger scale.

Wincing a little, she rubbed her left arm a little a little. Despite the battle with Elvarg long since been over, and the wounds she had sustained being healed, sometimes that arm still throbbed a little from time to time, as if somehow it was recalling the strain it underwent in that very battle, just barely keeping the only thing protecting her raised high enough to spare her life for just a few extra moments.

Eventually, she smiled a little, deciding to roll with the other topic that was brought up. As it turned out Corster was a bit of an artist himself, which... Intrigued her.

As she was partially eavesdropping on the other conversations going on in the room, she was starting to pick up on something she figured she could inquire about.

Although, she wasn't sure if it was quite safe to be direct just yet. While most of the other Cultists seemed distracted, there might be other ways word could get around about her attempt at infiltration if she wasn't carefull.

"You're not like the rest of... Us, are you?" She asked, lowering her voice a little as she raised a brow.

Although the way she posed the question, it seemed more like she was teasing him a little, even if it was an honest question she had on her mind.

Fjord

Fjord had once again gotten lost in his thoughts, but would eventually catch up with the raid party and saw the minions leave and he didn't like it. " Oh hell no, you ain't getting away," he said, using Thunderstep to catch up with the goons and try to get the objects from them.

Arslan listened quietly, and took notice pf the way the man in questioned looked at Kazuma. Chances were, they weren't doing well. They gained some information, however, so that was a start.

"Severin Silraijin has strong faith in helping those of Neverwinter by fulfilling the prophecy, then? That's...admireable." He spoke up, a memory of wanting to know how Lusitanians viewed things and ended up temporarily being held hostage for a time coming to mind briefly.

Some might call him crazy for being fond of the memory, but he got a friend of sorts from it along with opening his views on the dangers of an enslavement a bit. He hoped to keep the attention off of Kazuma, and while there was some truth in his words he was determined to thwart them even more.

There was a sickening crunch as the punch connected. The other two would drop what they were carrying. The commander stepped forward. "No, no, you idiots! Grab them and flee! These are valuable to our cause! We can not lose them in the fire!" He stepped forward, rolled up his sleeves, and prepared to throw a punch.

"You wanna tussle? Let's tussle. One on one, then." He said. He was a large man, looking kinda like a Medieval Mike Haggar if Mike Haggar wore blue robes with an eye on them instead of running shirtless.

The two minions would pick their objects back up and run deeper into the building.

"..." Scorpia then grind widely at her opponent. "You got yourself a fight, buddy!" Putting up her claws Scorpia came in close for a quick jab into the mans face and if it hit would deliver an uppercut to him

"I got them!"

Clarisse says, running after the not-so-dynamic duo

"ALCHEMIC..."

Her hands charged with flames, aiming for the two minions.

"... FLARE!"

With that, fire filled the corridors, embers bouncing off stone walls. The attack was strong, and even if the two decided to split up in the building, the flames would continue to chase them.

"There's no way you'll outrun Clarisse's super special attack with all that shiny in your hands~."

❝ That is good to hear, I was afraid that I would not be able to witness such a spectacle in my lifetime. ❞ Merlin let out a breath of air, emulating relief with his words. Well, that is a handful to remember. Obviously letting Tiamat be brought back by these types of people is a big no-no. There's no telling on how chaotic that would be. Glancing at those that were here with him, the mage figured that he could take a step further with this, despite the high chance of risk to go with this.

❝ My apologies for the poor timing, as much as this conversation has enlightened me and captured my interest. I need to momentarily excuse myself for a call from... nature, if you catch my drift. ❞ The mage made a rather vague statement, darting his eyes around and about the cult's party. Oh, right... he didn't know the layout of this place from the back of his hand. ❝ If you can direct me to the nearest lavatory, you have my many thanks. ❞

Merlin displayed a shameless smile when requesting directions.

"Thank you." Taric smiled and nodded at the man, then turned to his companion. "What do you think? Should the two of us split up, or perhaps go to one area at a time?" After their time on the bridge, Taric had no doubt Wendy could take care of herself...but she still looked very young, and even if he did not want to put the girl in danger for any reason. But it would be best to hear her opinion, rather than decide for them both.

The Nashers were subdued. Completely knocked out. Boward started loading a new bolt into her crossbow. "We need to move." She said. "They know we're here now."

When you entered the next room, you saw it was... on fire. Like, this room was completely blazing. THree Nashers ran around with a commander shouting orders. "COME ON! LET'S GET EVERYTHING OUT OF HERE THAT WE CAN!" He shouted towards them. They were completely oblivious to the raiding party. Boward prepared to raise her crossbow.

"It is indeed." The man said. He took a swig of wine. He stretched out his hand, and you would notice a handsome elf with sparkling features. He seemed a bit of a contrast against the other cultists, but he still blended in. His purple robes were looser flowing, and he appeared to shine in the direct light.

"Corster." He said, introducing himself.

I'm sorry."

Listening to Corster, she nodded her head, smiling a bit. "It's okay~!" She spoke, when he apologized. "We can care for ourselves, and we will make sure that Xalliana comes back safe and sound!" Positive as always.

When Taric addressed her, she paused for a moment to think before she answered. "If we stay together, it would obviously be safer..." She started, still pondering. "But it would make much more sense to try and cover more ground by splitting up, considering we might not have much time..." She nodded her head as if a decision had been made. "Maybe we should split up, but maybe we can find a way to signal to each other, if one is in trouble!" She exclaimed. Maybe her Milky Way could come in handy!

Taric nodded. "Very well. I can take the guild hall." He raised his shield, a small grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Many arrows will turn into many toothpicks against Bastion here." Maybe it wouldn't come to that. Perhaps if nothing else, he could find a way to reason with them? If not, though...he had been outnumbered before.
