The breeze was soothing as a man in a very formal yet elegant black and white suit, stood near his private docks. His face not showing any emotion his short silver hair seeming to shine as he stood with two very bulky bodyguards. Besides those two he there wasn't a soul insight. Just the way he wanted it to be. He was, after all expecting a friend..... Even though he never considered anyone a friend, in fact, the whole word and thought felt so, alien to him. Sure he didn't dislike Mephisto though it felt weird to call him a friend. Associates? No. Business partner? Close but no cigar.

He started to pace around lost in thought trying to come up with a word that could best describe his relationship with the man he would have a meeting with soon, possibly with the other Devils.

Sighing he just stopped near the tip of a balcony overlooking the port. "Oh forget it." He said more to himself than his two hired muscle. "Friend will have to do for right now. Smoke." He said holding his right hand out. The guard with the black hair instantly pulled out a cigar and a lighter, placing it on Lucius hand lighting it. Not really acknowledging the man Lucius started to walk down to the port smoking a fine cigar and admiring the sky. "Lovely day."

A sigh escaped him as he found himself staring down into the crystal clear water that surrounded his boat. Elegant fish only found within this sanctum of the island eased by unconcerned about the world above them. Where humans this way? He wondered mildly. It was odd that he no longer considered himself nor any of the other Devils human. As far as he could tell biologically they remained the same but they had abilities and potential of something other.

His eyes lingered over a vibrant purple fish that reminded him of some of the fancy goldfish he had seen on the mainland. People enjoyed keeping them as pets. These beauties would eat whoever touched them alive and care not for the taint it would cause the water. Many times he had seen a child too enthralled that they reached out to pet the lovely silk like tails that trail from its fins only to be returned bitten and bleeding. Much of the island’s aquatic life was like this one that his mother called the Lotus Eater. It gained this name thanks to its love of the flower. When it bloomed they would spawn and eat the plant as minnows.

“We are about to dock, my lord,” Stated one of the oarsmen drawing the doctor from his thoughts.

“Thank you,” He murmured gently in return as they set about securing the vessel to the dock and assisting him from it. Brushing a hand over his lab coat he adjusted his glasses and looked at his pocket watch. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed to blonde haired male he was looking for, “Good day, Lucius,” He greeted as he moved towards him, “I take it people are occupied like mice as always here.”

This man before him. He was a valuable ally and one of only a few to have been in the game for as long as himself. They grew up together but seemed to always know how their relationship would be. They were partners when it benefited them.

Lucius could only smile, although he wasn't really happy it was just common courtesy to show affection to a man that you have known since childhood. "Nice of you to visit, good doctor." At the mention of the people he only laughed a good-hearted laugh. "You could say that though I would liken most of them to Rats than mice." Blowing out a cloud of smoke as he turned his attention to the crystal like water, to the fish that swam under the waves. "It's funny don't you think?" He turned to Mephisto. "How something so innocent looking can turn out to be rather nasty when you try to reach out to it?" Throwing a bronze coin into the water he watched as the seemingly peaceful and beautiful fish started to frenzy, trying to get at to what they thought was food when really it was nothing special.

Chuckling at the sight, it always was interesting how lower forms of life would act when presented with something they wanted. "Oh. Sorry. I'm babbling again. Would you like to have a drink with me? Your pick." his tone was smooth as butter and hospitality.

The good doctor resisted the urge to rub the bridge of his nose. It was a habit he had developed as a young child growing up around his mother and sister. His sister and he never saw eye to eye. There for he had great reason for pinching his nose around her, “I’m on the clock, friend,” He states gently, “I’ll take a water or tea.”

Part of him knew it was useless to try and get the man to drop the subject of drinks it was one of the few substances that worked well on them in numbing the mind and the heart. His gaze pulled away after a moment from the water. They could spend ages talking about the way things were when it came to humans. In fact they often did. It was one of the rare moments that himself and Adran got along well enough to be in the same room. The relationships that Mephisto built between himself and each Devil was a unique one. He remembered a compliment he had been paid by the late Devil of Wrath as he died in his arms. He was the master of binds.

“I need to check on your health, Lucius. I suppose for the most part we can conduct the checkup out here,” He smiled as he found a spot to sit on the edge of the pier, “Anything different lately?”

A childish smirk crossed his face, normally he would keep up his high-class persona if for nothing more than it being a kinda game character didn't seem to matter when it came to the Devils. Though he felt more open when talking with them. Even if Ansigar made him sometimes drink too much coffee and Adran's envy was something he liked to play around with from time to time.

Sighing he sat down finally letting his fatigue show. "I think I might be coming down with a little bit of a cold." He wiped away something from his face. Makeup. "The things I go through to keep face." He half-joked, to be honest, it was sometimes frustrating dealing with those peasants even if he took great pleasure in watching them destroy themselves with their own emptiness. His cheeks were red and sweat was starting to drop down his face causing it to shine a little in the light.

Looking behind his shoulder he gazed at his Casino. It was truly a wonderful Casino it might not look very large but things are not always what they seem boys and girls. For you see the underground part is quite massive and filled with countless treasures. Not only money but items you can take home if you wished... though. You would have to bet far more than money to get Lucius's Mammons trinkets. "You." To the guard that had a beard. "Get me and Mister Mephisto a few refreshments." The guard bowed. "Right away mr'Mammon." Lucius didn't even know the guy's name nor did he care to.

Those ruby eyes narrowed sharply as he moved closer to the other male to look at him more closely. The way he looked did appear to be a cold and if they were anything normal he might have thought so. But the Devils didn’t get sick often if at all. Normal human viruses tended to have little effect on them. Reaching for his bag he motioned for Lucius to loosen the collar of his shirt and take off his jacket.

Digging around in his bag for a moment he withdrew a stethoscope, thermometer, and blood pressure cuff. Placing the digital instrument under the Devil of Greed’s tongue he set about taking his pulse and what not. He didn’t say anything till after he looked at the male’s temperature, “You didn’t call for me sooner. Why?” He asked sharply, “No one at your clinic would know how to treat you, much less what to do if your fever got any higher than it is now.”

101 was normal for Devils it was one of the few things that gave away their differences from human beings. The Devil before him had a grand temperature of 103. Setting the items aside he reached forward to check for swollen glands in his throat. None. He frowned a bit more, “Anything else to help me figure out what is wrong with you?”

Adran Triveron - Approaching the Precinct Center, Fox

As the two men went about the physical, a custom Rolls Royce stopped nearby the area the two were in. Out of the car stepped Adran, having noticed the two from afar and wishing to try and engage them in conversation. It was a rare thing for Adran to desire, as normally the only devil he could stand was Niomi, sin of Lust, but his personal therapist had recommended that he reach out to his social circle more often, maybe then he'd feel a bit more complete.

He caught bits and pieces of the conversation, a sly grin coming to his face as he heard the disappointment in Mephisto's voice. "Because Lucius cant bear to part with a single penny in that massive bank account of his. If only kleptomania had a cure." He called out to the two as he joined them, brushing some wind-blown hair out of his face. "Gentlemen. Thought I'd come by and say hello since it's been a while since our last meeting, wasn't expecting to run into you though, Mephisto." His normally polite demeanor was far more relaxed around these devils. They know what he is and how his dark side manifests so there was no need to hide it behind pretty words and a smile.

He didn't show any sign of flinching at Mephisto's tone or eyes, he had been used to it by now whenever he overstepped his boundaries with his father.... "I've had this for 2 days. I've eaten and drunk the same think I always have and had several taste testers see if there was anything wrong with my food or drink." After he listed off the things that he figured would narrow down anything that caused his aliement, he started pondering what else he could tell that could help.

"I'm only tired that's it. No running nose or a sore throat or any aches and pains." His guard came back with a plate holding an apple martini and sweet green tea. "I have your refreshments." Lucius despite sweating looked at the guard like he was an idiot. "Does it look like now is the time?" He asked tone clearly not happy. "Uh.....N-No?" Lucius stopped paying attention to the guard. "I'm a very busy Devil." Lucius despite being a well-organized businessman seemed to pick and choose the order on how to respond to what people say, it sometimes is rather odd. "Meetings had to be set up, paperwork to be signed, and new guest to be greeted..... Despite my loathing for the latter I still prefer to keep my image for as long as possible." he took off his jacket revealing his pale toned chest.

Mephisto listened to the man chatter. His mind was a steel trap when it came to medical information and therefore didn’t bother writing anything down. The sound of a car door closing drew his gaze for a moment right before he gave a frown that showed he was unsure how to feel about the new arrival, “Good day, Adran, I have an appointment with Lucius for now. Means you skipped the last one I’ll deal with you in a minute as well,” He stated before returning his attention to Lucius.

“Have things with your magic been behaving? I know it’s an odd question but I recall that you have had an influx of people visiting perhaps you are hitting your limit?” He needed to know. Each devil could only control so many humans at a time. Controlling the didn’t just mean having influence over their hearts and minds but all keeping them from passing on to the next world in the worst events of the night.

Adran Triveron - Precinct Center, Fox

It suddenly clicked in Adran's mind that his appointment with Mephisto was what he'd forgotten, no surprise since he almost always forgot those every time they came up. "Was that today? I'd completely forgotten. Do what you must, though again, I hardly see the point of these." He'd always assumed it was just another reason for Pride to show off, his insecurities demanding that he demonstrate his superiority to his peers. He'd always wished to conduct a session with each sin, analyzing their brain and how their magic and sin affected them mentally, but unlike Mephisto, Adran respected each sin's personal boundaries most of the time.

If it was possible his face became more devoid of emotion than before, he wasn't in the mood or frame of mind to deal with a psychologist that is sad about his life. "Oh. Hello Adran." He managed to say before the question of his magic behaving strangely made him pause. ".... Something did happen." He figured it was just some fluke or maybe too many people like Mephisto said, yet the way it felt when it happened. "I was on my balcony like I always was, enjoying the sights and sounds of my busy little mice." He cracked a smile at that. True it wasn't a special night just the usual chaos empowered by greed it was always funny and heartwarming seeing people for what they truly were. Empty. "Nothing unusual happened I didn't overexert myself at any point now that I'm truly looking back on it. But around the end of midnight, something happened, my magic just... Stopped." He let the words hang in the air for awhile letting them sink into the two men and even to himself, even if someone had magical abilities they couldn't have just stopped his so. Soundly. "I didn't stop it mind you, in fact I tried to start it up again....Nothing, nothing but vertigo." He realized that he was clenching his fists so hard you could see the knuckles, he probably shouldn't have told them the way he did weakness was something to be looked down upon but he had a feeling that if this happened to him there was a chance it might have happened to at least some of the other Devils.

Mephisto -- Precinct Center, Fox

The great Pride visibly paled at the thought of the magic stopping. He knew many things about the island that he kept well away from the other sins in order to keep them safe if nothing more. He removed his hands from the other and stared at him, “Did something happen during this time that your magic stopped? How long for?”

It didn’t seem like those red eyes could get any redder but they did as he used his own magic to erase the memories of the humans around them and sent them away. His gaze slid to Adran, “Has anything like this happened to you?” He asked sharply. Mephisto wasn’t trying to sound harsh but this had the markings of something he was sure he didn’t like in the least. He would have to visit with every Devil eventually.

Adran Triveron - Precinct Center, Fox

Adran quirked an eyebrow at Greed's admission of his powers failing, the clenched white fists proving quite amusing to him. He had gave Mephisto a look that advised him to drop the attitude from his speech. "Not that I can recall. Though do remember that I only use my powers when dealing with particularly tough cases so I'm not exactly the best case study." His silver tongue was normally all he needed to invoke envy in others, though when it came to more "virtuous" individuals, he liked to flex his muscles, some would call it cowardice, Adran considered it a sign of his prowess, and besides, he always had more in reserve for emergencies.

"This is an intriguing problem though, if I might, Lucius, what were your thoughts at the time of your power's disappearance? It's quite possible the fluctuation could have been a trick of the mind." He stated, looking at the sickly man with intrigue in his eyes.

Surprise was on his face at Pride's pale face and the urgency in his tone when addressing Envy. Then his eyes narrowed in suspicion, true this was something that was to be taken seriously if it happened to anyone else and Adran could be right, and it was just an off day with a stray thought or some kinda overload that he cannot recall. Yet he had never seen Pride so emotional.

"I can't recall how I felt or how long my magic was nullified... And if this did happen to the others they might recall as much as me." Now he was starting to get spooked though he didn't show it, why can't he remember? His emotional state true was something that was always hard for him to recall, but the time his magical blackout happened seems. Blurry.

All and all he might need to keep a closer eye on his good ol' friend. They might have been at this the longest out of all the devils but Mephisto always seemed to have some sort of a sixth sense about this land and knows of its secrets, every time Lucius asked him about something Mephisto most of the time dodges the question or flat out refuses to answer.... Though maybe Adran could pry something out of him if brought to his attention after all, wouldn't he be envious of knowledge that isn't his?

Mephisto -- Precinct Center, Fox

Mephisto gave a shrug at Adran’s reply. Out of habit he moved away from the pair and checked his phone perhaps there was a message he was missing. What he did find surprised him. A letter from his sister sat in his inbox. For now he ignored it as he trailed through other things. Another message caused him pause as it read simply ‘The dragon has fallen.’ Checking the sender he narrowed his gaze. The ever observant general of his was keeping a closer eye on things than himself. It bothered him slightly, “I would say it’s likely due to an new Devil coming into our fold. They likely haven’t a clue what they managed to kill.”

He wanted a cigarette but refrained due to the simple fact that what he wanted more was to rip something apart with his bare hands. Mephisto stared at the water below the boat dock for a moment more before he glanced at the two men, “I would suggest you taking it easy as we know that if you were affected, Lucius, then so was our lovely Gluttony. Who decided to do what I said to never do and has left the island.”

Feeling he should explain a little more he continued, “Think of it like this. When lightning strikes it will normally strike the highest point in an area. A building for instance. A lightening rod will keep the building from being struck and channel the energy safely down to the ground where it is neutralized. When there are three devils and the one between the power ranges of the other two passes on the magic that would normally flow through them jointly fluctuates. Normally the other two devils will experience little to nothing as they can equalize the magic instantly. Say one is missing for some reason. The single is the building that catches fire.”

“I would take it easy for a few days. Limit the number of people you control and so on.”

Adran Triveron - Precinct Center, Fox

Adran's eyebrow raised in curiosity. "Gluttony left? Here I'd assumed that you've made it impossible for us to leave, though I suppose such magic is beyond even your understanding, Pride." He remarked. "Though I can certainly understand why one of us would want to leave, Gluttony especially. Everyday, trapped on the same island, feeding off of the same mortals for all of these years. Its only natural that he would leave in search of new prey to devour. He hungers for everything."

"Maybe my second in command can take control of things for me while I take it easy. Might even be more salubrious for me being away from the scene and just taking little nibbles of energy." Though that was easier said than done, Greed was his sin after all and it did nurse a nasty habit of taking much more than what he originally intended.... And right now he wanted answers. "You are the doctor after all." He said honestly with his usual friendly tone when addressing the Devils it was different than the one he used on humans, slight hints of mocking were expertly weaved into his conversations like a fine quilt. But with the Devils it was genuine.... Sort of.

"Adran, it has been awhile since you visited. Why not accompany me for some fine dining or maybe a quick game? I'm under doctors orders to take it easy and maybe having someone accompanying me would make my day more enjoyable." He was not a social person in any stretch of the imagination though there were rare occasions when he would, almost, unconsciously ask for someone to join him in an activity.

Mephisto -- Precinct Center, Fox

The male gave a shrug, “I would tie you all to your beds if I knew how to keep you there. Sadly you don’t.”

He adjusted his glasses before moving over to his bag. Quickly he turned on the Devil of Envy and shove the thermometer into his mouth under the tongue, “Don’t bother answering him,” He states, “You’ll be at my mercy for the next five minutes.”

Adran Triveron - Precinct Center, Fox

He was about to answer greed but found a thermometer shoved into his mouth. Figuring it was pointless to fight back, he waited for Mephisto to remove it before turning back to Lucius. "Before Mephisto so rudely interrupted me, I was going to say that I'd rather enjoy a meal with you, Lucius. Just give the good doctor a minute to see that nothing's wrong, as usual." This whole check-up was a formality. Pride knew that Adran had to go through medical school in order to get his degree. If anything was wrong with him, he'd be able to self diagnose it.

He turned back to Mephisto, a chuckle emanating at the doctor's wordplay. "'At your mercy?' Been hanging around dearest Niomi frequently as of late, Mephisto?" The sin of Lust seemed the most fitting to say such a line, of course Adran would have found it much more appealing coming from her. "I've no interest in men though, unfortunately for you. So do spare me some of your more intimate examinations."
