To be a graduate of the Torch, is to do so in the knowledge that in doing so you become another ember. A spark that sets aflame all dark things and brings light where light itself may be weak or nonexistent. Nowhere is that more evident than the battlefield known as the Ashen Front.

Lately, on the planet of Ash, the Order has descended and turned it into a grueling war of attrition. Facing off against their forces, mercenaries and monsters, lie the Coalition and their allies.

Commander-in-chief Gaius, stationed in Charon, commands the forces of the Coalition, protecting its native race from the brutality of the Order. As the site of a former Murder Game, the planet has been majority twisted into a ruined and ghastly land by a cursed energy known as malevolence. Upon the front lines, agents are sent in droves to turn back the tide of nightmares. In the chasms of the world, others send out sorties to discover and map out the semi-collapsed underground, sealing up boltholes and fighting alongside their comrades in skirmishes beneath the surface of the earth.

Whether you fight alongside your comrades at the front, protect the civilians who flock for protection on the dangerous road or seek answers in the dark, you are needed here desperately.

Welcome to Outpost 98-A6, AKA "Ragnarok".

You are one of many embers.

Time to light the flame.

If there's one thing that Locus never thought he'd be doing, it was working under the thumb of another government.

Though after hearing that an alternate version of his partner, Felix, had been murdered at the hands of a toy bear named Monokuma, and ending up on the planet Ash, Locus had no idea how to right the wrongs of his past without doing so. So now, the former UNSC soldier was working under the Coalition instead, an organization similar to the UNSC.

Felt like home, it did.

On this specific night, Locus was in the Outer City, simply doing a patrol of anything suspicious. Whether anyone here would admit it or not, Bowser had a strong grip on the crime here. He kept things more organized, per say. Everything last UN shipment, every bullet that had been obtained illegally, had to go by Bowser first before being sold. So, after his arrest (allegedly twice after escaping the first time), the underworld was plunged into anarchy, so to speak. Sure, Bowser's gang had since disbanded, but they simply split up into smaller, less efficient gangs.

That's where Locus came in. Sure, he couldn't infiltrate any gangs due to his appearance alone making him stand out, though he could still investigate using his own means. That's why when Locus saw the android known simply as "9S", the assassin trained his gun on him almost immediately.

"You, state your business here." Locus said in his usual gruff tone.

How long has he been wandering about like this? It couldn't be that long, but it felt that way. He was on his own after that incident after all. On his own, traveling around with no sense of where to go, carrying in his backpack some form of supernatural book. 9S couldn't wrap his head around it, both on how he was specifically assigned by the YoRHa bunker to retrieve this book and pondering about this strange world in general. Aside from being aware that may be delivering this book to base wasn't the greatest idea, he felt inclined to learn more about this place. Information was always handy.

Different from the rogue machines that the Scanner android had no choice but to put down, 9S was taken by surprise with the fact that he's run into another person... and by not-so-friendly circumstances.

H-Hold on... I've just been wandering around. No real clue on where I was going. I'm not even sure what's the big deal here. ❞ 9S wasn't sure what else to say. It wasn't like he was sent here to make enemies in the first place. If he being here appeared like some sort of threat, the android was sure to NOT grab the sword that was hovering behind him. He hoped that talking was enough.

"Right..." Locus said, lowering his weapon, though still keeping it in hand.

"You're saying you were just wandering around? Hmph... seems awfully suspicious, seeing as you're in the most crime ridden part of Ash." Locus replied, not totally buying what 9S was telling him.

Black Orcs rarely cared about where they lived, so long as they got to kill and eat and kill and eat. Grimgor was a little more complicated than that. Of course, he still mostly killed and ate things, but even he knew when to pick his fights; something very un-Orky of him. This came at the realization that he was, technologically, outmatched in every way. The cowards would never dare to step into the ring with the fourteen feet tall, two ton Ork!

So, they just shot at him until he stopped trying to eat people. At least, desirables. He still occasionally munched on a straggler, or on one of the squigs that popped up from the spores he, like all Orcs, produced. Even when an Ork or a gobbo popped up, he'd kill them to scratch his itch. Now, Grimgor was never much of a thinker; if he was, he'd probably wait to let these spores take root. They'd turn into squigs, then snotlings, then gobbos, then orcs, and, before he knew it, he'd have the city to himself! No more humies, or any of the other humie things in the city! Fortunately, Grimgor wasn't really able to see much beyond his desire to kill and maim, followed shortly behind by his desire to not die, which is then followed by how much he enjoyed finding new things to eat.

This sort of nomadic wandering throughout the city, his every step thunderous, led him to where this... half confrontation was going on. For a moment, Grimgor got excited. Was this a potential Waaagh? Could he step in and eat these two? Oh, how he'd love to pop open that suit of armor like a tin can...

Aaaand, they were talking it out. Sure, it still had potential to become violent, but that wasn't the same thing as it becoming violent. His mouth opened up halfway in a sneer, his broken tusk giving his face a sort of lopsided look. After a moment, he stepped forward, his footfalls shaking the ground as he approached. "Look, ya stupid gits, ar' ya gonna foight or wot? I'z been 'oled up here in yer smelly 'umie town dis entoire toime, and I'z got 'alf a mind to let you do me a favah and take dat zoggin' 'umie gun and shoot me in the zoggin' head!" The Ork's voice rose with frustration. It seemed his starvation from bloodlust was coming to something of a head.

So, as Locus was interrogating this kid about actual important matters, some... ogre came up behind him and started telling him to fight the kid or something.

Clearly annoyed with the Orc, which was signified by the loud groan that emitted from his helmet, Locus didn't even turn to face Grimgor as he stated two very simple words that even someone of his presumably low intelligence could understand.

The orc's great eyes narrowed down at the man. Though he wasn't too keen on thinking about such things, Grimgor was a pretty cunning individual, when it called for it, so it didn't take but the words leaving the armor-clad individual's mouth for the orc to get that he was indeed, ironically, being talked down to. For a second, the look in his eyes made it seem like to orc was just going to give into his more violent urges, as he usually would, and break this tin man in half. The black orc was the greatest Warlord to ever live! He'd felled dwarvish towers with a single, mighty kick! He would not be talked down to in such a way by a human! His hand grasped at his choppa, an impossibly huge blade at his waist.

The Orc paused. This was the first person who'd really stood up to him on their own since he'd be separated from da boyz. It was impressive. Suicidal, but impressive.

"Wuzzat 'umie sayin'? Give 'em da stick, or smash 'em wiv a carrot?" His enormous hand came off of his choppa. "Ya're a zoggin' brave git, fer a 'umie." The orc stood tall once more. "I loike dat. Guess I won't smash ya. Fer now. Name's Grimgor. Why iz ya zoggin' wiv da runt, anyways? 'E's causin' trouble, ya should eat 'im."

Mike Matthews/ Mon-el and Injured Jessica

Mon-El had decided to take a walk, be away from the fighting from a second. He knew that every waking moment couldn't be on the battlefield. It was impossible and though he had the training of a Daxamite Prince, he was never interested in the military side. He especially felt this way after meeting Kara Zor-El and dating her for the time he did. He sacrificed himself for her. On the edge of the outer city, he noticed a girl. She seemed to be struggling to walk. " Miss, are you doing okay?" He asked.

Jessica looked over at him with a far off gaze. " I don't know anymore, I don't know. Where am I? Who are you?" She asked.

" My name is Mike Matthews and this is Charon, what is your name?" He asked.

" Jess...." She collapsed from the exhaustion of the combined walking she had done. Mike moved fast and quickly caught her. It was turning into one of those days. He looked around to see if there was anyone there to help him.

"The name's Locus." The Coalition soldier responded flatly, only just now turning to look at the enormous beast. Locus was fairly certain he could take him in a fight, no matter how challenging it'd be. Though, he appeared to be standing down for now, so Locus would do the same as long as things remained peaceful.

"As for the kid, I was asking him about matters that are none of your concern. ...eating him won't be necessary."

HK-47 was roaming around the planet Ash looking for a purpose. After his previous master was killed due to his own programming, he was left to roam the planet as an independent Assassination Droid. When he's not on his killing spree or doing his programming, he poses as a Protocol Droid, providing translations for Alien Lifeforms and various duties such as escort, information, guard, etc etc.

At least, that's what he would be doing. He's been roaming the planet's wastelands for a long time now. To keep him occupied, he occasionally shot a wild animal just to satisfy his programming, even using them as target practice for long range engagements.

Finally he arrived somewhere involving life-forms, running into a armoured soldier and a Orc. He recognises the armoured one as Locus from his built-in database and sees that he is having a conversation with the Orc.

Uh... ❞ 9S had no idea how to interpret all of this. Sure, he was seen as a strange person wandering around, and that there were suspicions aimed at him. Yet, some other people were popping up, clearly unfriendly too. Something about regular talk to convince others wasn't going to work as smoothly as the Scanner would prefer it to be.

Given the circumstances, it was about time that his companion pod would start to talk. ❝ Analysis: Present individuals are identified under protocols as hostile. Unit 9S is not well-equipped to respond to possible conflict. Proposal: Flee. ❞

You know that they can hear you... right 153? ❞ 9S awkwardly pointed out to his support pod, knowing that this wasn't exactly helping at all.

Affirmative. ❞ The pod's response only worked up an annoyed groan out of the Scanner. Now that he basically can't just talk his way out of this unless everything is somehow calmed down, 9S acted on what he could do: run away. If he was instead a Battle model, he wouldn't be fleeing right about now. Despite his limited options combat-wise, he hoped that he could put some good distance so he could get a break from this.

"Statement: Hello there. Observation: I see that you are also a droid, like myself. But, where is your weapon? Statement: What brings you here then? Aside from roaming the wasteland like I have."

Akame sat at a table in the Cog & Sword. She kept her head down around everyone there. She stared down at a plate of french fries in front of her, and swirled one through the ketchup on the plate. She was alone, waiting for someone who had contacted her to show up. Murasame was at her side, and she looked around the bar.

Shadow Marshal Luger- Cog and Sword

Luger slipped her weapons in certain hidden areas while moving into the Cog and Sword. She prefered to stay hidden if all possible, watching for the best routes to get where she wanted to go to.

She quickly and quietly found the person she contacted and slipped into a chair "You must be my contact, am I right?"

"Son of a bitch." Locus commented before breaking out into a full sprint, shoving passed the orc and the (other) android so he could catch up to 9S. He looked awful suspicious now, running away like that.

It's too bad that Locus didn't hear his conversation with his pod due to dealing with these other people :' )

Akame looked up from her plate of fries. She took a bite. "That would depend. Are you the one who requires the sword of an independent contractor?" She said, revealing Murasame.

"No. This is none of your concern, nor is it the orc's. It's private Coalition business." Locus stated, sounding quite annoyed with all the new arrivals.

"Disappointment: A shame. I've been left to roam this planet ever since my previous master activated my Assassination Protocol, causing me to murder him in cold blood with my blaster. Observation: I see you mentioned the Coalition government. I didn't quite approve of the strike team your deceased scientist summoned but, they made for good target practice. Statement: Perhaps, there may be something more important that requires my attention and skill, or not and that something insists we communicate---"

And his speech was interrupted when Locus ran off like that to chase his target.

"Statement: It seems that I have been left to fend for myself. Perhaps I should find something to kill to cheer me up. Approval: That sounds like a perfect idea."

Grimgor looked at Locus as he ran, then the robot that had openly discussed trying to kill him. It didn't seem to faze the orc much; Orcish society was, after all, completely based around violent power struggles, almost one hundred percent of the time, and Grimgor himself readily slaughtered his own men for kicks. Hell, he'd eaten the few orcs his spores had popped out since getting here! The final statement made him grunt approvingly. "Ya an' me bov, bruv. Can't smash any of these zoggin' 'umies wivout an army breavin down my neck."
