Peter Destin

Peter often wondered why he stayed when nobody wanted his help. Maybe it was a sense of duty. But more than likely, it was the inherent stubbornness he got from his mother. Of course, another major detail was that he hadn't figured out a way to leave without going through one of the organizations either.

Of course, he sighed, as he petted the undead puppy and bunny by his feet and the squirrel and dragon on his shoulder along with his cricket.

" I have my doubts that such a compromise even exists, but I thank you for praying for me."

Peter wondered if it was truly a shame.

He looked over at her and wondered why she took him at his word when so many people lied and he felt a distant rumble become a quake. It was one thing for the church to be destroyed, but he was sure he didn't want to be there to see it. He noticed that the nun was listening and instead turned to the window to see if everything was okay after all. He doubted it was.

He did notice that there were armored vehicles coming there and a hover model. Had they come to destroy the church or had come for her? It seemed to have an organization be here, but he knew that all of them traveled.

" I'm just a child of Fate. I am not encroaching darkness looking for myself, a defender, a vulture, a hero or any of the sort. I'm just a man who tends to find himself interwoven into wars that aren't his own, paths that aren't his and lives he didn't expect to touch."

He was being 100% honest about who he was and how he felt.

Theo Raeken

Theo hadn't expected to find Deslin here either, but he was happy that he had found him at the end of the day.

" Well, I'm certainly not Mother Theresa."

Theo had to chuckle as he looked at the wall. " I imagine that is rather simple, but only sounds complicated. But I don't disagree with what you are saying either."

@dark

"I wasn't expecting any less of you, Theo." Delsinnodded, only to hear a convoy rolling in and someone seemingly watching them

"Stay out of this." Locus said to Sally in quite an annoyed sounding tone.

"I don't think that you self-destructing would be the best course of action. You'd just get rebuilt at the Coalition and your memory banks backed up on a hard-drive.

Now, the way you ran in the middle of the questioning didn't paint you in a good light. I suggest you tell me what you were doing here soon, or else I'll take you in for questioning myself."

In the brief silence following Locus' warning, a small corner portion of Locus' display was inexplicably filled by a fidgety golden ring, before a peculiar face appeared in front of it with a little jingle.

"Whew, okay, system cleared. That was a strong attack, but nothing I haven't seen before," spoke a woman's voice directly into Locus' comms system, "I'm not going to bore you with all the details, but this person knows their stuff, and I...may not have been able to save your motion tracker in time. I sincerely apologize, and I'm working on getting it back online as soon as possible; you won't even know I'm here," the voice finished, and it couldn't have been a coincidence the fuzzy face disappeared from Locus' display shortly thereafter.

Watching 9S from the flank, the humanoid chipmunk lowered her wrist-weapons ever so slightly as her snarky quip gave way to concern.
"Look," she chimed in, "you're clearly in over your head, but we're here to help you," she stated, hoping to give off a more welcoming vibe than her Coalition counterpart, "And you do want help, don't you? You wouldn't have stopped to hear us both out otherwise, right?"

"..How the hell did you manage to hack into my systems?" Locus questioned in a low whisper, almost like a growl. Though, when he realized what she was doing, Locus only sighed in mild annoyance before continuing.

"Whatever you're doing, make it quick." He ordered.

❝ Uh huh... ❞ 9S mumbled as he figured that he might as well play along. Momentarily bringing up a holographic console, the Scanner tapped a few commands before dismissing it. ❝ Alright... I guess it's clear enough to talk, if that's what I have to do. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but there was a whole machine virus incident around the... undercity if I'm correct on my intel. I was able to deal with it. ❞

On the topic of that incident that felt like a few days ago, 9S went through his small backpack to pull out a rather... off-putting book.

❝ Turns out this one book was responsible for that mess, and I was able to hack it to where it's disabled. Weird... right? It's been a few days since the incident and uh... I haven't been able to transport back to where I'm supposed to... ❞ The android shared the info that... well, he was allowed to say under his programming, slipping the strange book back into his backpack. The idea of... hacking an aging and ancient book was pretty strange in itself too.

❝ ... that's it, by the way. ❞ 9S added, readjusting the blindfold he had on.

Locus paused for a moment and stood there almost emotionless as 9S tried to explain himself.

"I see..." Locus said before suddenly extending his arm and opening up his palm. "Well, I'm gonna need that book so I can take it in for evidence." Locus said, though it sounded more like an order than a simple request.

As the Saber and Peter were conversing, a new nun made her way into the room, this one holding onto a pistol as she strolled into the sanctuary. Stopping in front of Peter, the nun would look him over with a hand firmly placed on her hip before rolling her eyes and audibly scoffing.

eda-black-lagoon-53.8.jpg

"God, these are the asswipes we're letting in here now?" Eda said before tugging out a pack of cigarettes and making her way to the pew behind the pair. Leaning back into said pew, the nun would shake the pack of cigars in one hand, letting one fall into the palm of her other hand.

Placing the cigar in her mouth, Eda simply lit it and took a large breath inwards, before blowing out a stream of smoke into the air above her, not really caring if if managed to sneak it's way up Saber or Peter's nostrils while she rested a free arm on the back of the pew behind her.

"Tch. Gimme a fuckin' break."

Peter Destin

Peter turned to the entrance and tilted his head. It was kind of hard to not notice the new nun when she literally stood in front of him. It was possible, but it was high unlikely. He looked over at her and wondered what she was going to do next before he heard what she said to him.

He was thankful the better man and didn't even warrant a reply from him at first, though one might notice that he was holding his hand in front of where his squirrel was and giving him a 'don't you dare think about it' look as he knew what the animal did when he was insulted in any way.

In case, it wasn't obvious on what an angry squirrel did when the person who revived it from the dead did when their master was insulted, it was throwing his acorns at the woman. Hence why Peter had put his hand in front of the squirrel to prevent it from doing exactly that task too.

If the smoke got too close to the duo, a squirt of water would be shot out of Peter's pocket to make the smoke less dangerous.

"Sorry kiddo, but we don't allow animals in here." Eda said to Peter as she eyed the squirrel as she leaned over the pew in front of her, arms stretching downwards and a single cigar hanging out of her mouth.

On any normal day, she'd just use her trusty pistol to shoot the damn thing, but she had s feeling that her superiors wouldn't be exactly fond of that idea.

Peter looked over at her. " These aren't typical animals," he simply replied. As if to prove a point, the rest of his animals emerged from their heading behind a pew. They consisted of a rabbit, a cricket and a puppy. A baby dragon peeked out of his pocket.

" These are my 'travel' companions and I can't exactly leave them too far from me..... as they will die if I do. The sphere is about 250 or so feet," he replied, not missing a beat. " I'm an animal necromancer, Peter Destin, Child of Fate. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Jesus fuckin' Christ..."
Eda muttered, which was ironic cause y'know.. they were in a church and she was a nun and---

Anyways! Eda would simply take a long drag of the cigarette yet again before blowing out another stream of smoke. She then pointed her thumb towards the door with the arm which was resting on her pew.

Sister 'Duloc' didn't seem to care much the conversation nor for her fellow nuns crass attitude. To all intents and purpose, she seemed to be fixed in prayer. Eyes closed and in a state of calm unlike Eda. Aloud however she spoke.

"Sister Eda, great or small, are not all beings equal in the eyes of our lord? And it would seem that we have other problems at the moment."

She rose to a standing position , brushing a bang to the side as she turned to the doors.

A moment later, a clawed hand smashed through it. Grotesque and twisted, the owner howled and smashed again.

Sister Duloc tsk'd.

"That's going to take a while to repair. Sister Eda, please escort our guest and friends to the back? The door there should help him escape without harm."
Her lips twitched in an expression that might broadly be called a smile if not for the faint bloodlust it radiated.

"...Right." She said before standing up and grabbing Peter by the arm. "C'mon, dumbass." She said as she pulled him to the back with a surprising amount of strength from that of a simple nun.

Peter looked over at the woman and didn't even bother to comment on what she said to him as he choose to ignore it. He was used to being ignored and pulled two cages from behind him and gestured to his rabbit and puppy. The puppy and rabbit frowned, but hopped into the cage that he had for them. It was his way to make sure they would stay safe on the terrarin as they were young and it was exactly fit for their species. The others would remain on his person, so he didn't worry about them being crushed or harmed in the way. He looked at the ground before he went to pick up the cages.

As he did that, his dragon settled deeper into his pocket to remain safe and be crushed. As he picked up the cages, he allowed his cricket to climb over him and find its own pocket to reside in. It was a good thing that all his pets knew the way and places they needed to be if they ever need to be evacuated in situations like this. It had taken him a lot of training and much to Peter's chagrin, his squirrel choose to remain on his shoulder. He knew that the animal wanted to defend him, but he could handle himself. It was more of an eternal grateful deal than anything else. He had saved the squirrel after some righteous jerk shot him down from an electric poll and he had landed on impact. Peter had revived the squirrel and he had hurt the boys. He always knew that he was different. It was only confirmed when he was four and revived the squirrel. Ever since then, he had worked and been by his side. It wasn't just a pet, it was the closet thing he had to family. When you were a child of Fate, it didn't leave much room for starting a real family as you were always taken where you were needed and never where you wanted to go. It truly sucked more than anything else in the world.

Peter didn't argue and let her drag him to the back, him carrying the objects in tow. As much as he want to tell her that he could defend himself, he wasn't sure she would believe him. "Thanks for the help," he simply replied, though he could make his own portal out, he just choose not too. It was not something he wished to explain to two nuns.

The last he saw of Duloc, was her utterly calm composure as the doors crashed down.

Followed by the sound of violence as screaming howls echoed outside. Through a hole in the wall, Eda and Peter would see what looked like a cheering mob at the front.

The back way would have three figures moving, seeking to check out the door. Grizzled, crazed looking Humanoids armed with a number of makeshift and salvaged weaponry.

Someone else would make their way towards the church's entrance amongst the chaos. Originally headed there due to having no current task, and being one who hadn't been to a church since a brief mission in her own world some time ago, a woman clad in armor and a white outfit would make her way to the entrance. She simply wanted to see whether the church had been empty originally, not having paid any mind to it, but with whatever commotion was going on she would force her way in and deal with any who stood in her way with mere strength. It wasn't empty, if the crowd outside was any indication, which meant that whoever was inside could be hurt.

It was a Claymore's job to protect humans, and it also gave her something to do in the long run.

"Yeah, don't mention it." Eda said as she continued dragging Peter through the back of the church. In all honesty, she wanted nothing more than to go back downstairs, grab a nice bottle of rum, and---

Of course this would happen. Things were never this easy. They weren't back in Roanapur, and they certainly weren't here on Ash.

"Get behind me." Eda commanded Peter sternly as she drew her pistol.

"We're closed today, assholes." Eda said bluntly before shooting all three men point blank, hoping to kill all three instantly. Normally, she wouldn't have cared about Peter's life in the slightest, but... well, Sister Saber told her to look after him, and like it or not, Eda had to oblige.

Peter caught a glimpse of her calm exterior and wondered how she was managing to keep it.

Peter noticed quickly that there was a mob at the front entrance and it felt weird that he hadn't noticed it earlier. Was this mob cheering for or against them? He wasn't quite certain.

He groaned when some crazed looking humanoids armed with primitive weapons went to go and attack them. Today was truly not his day and he was really starting to hate it too.

Couldn't for once in his life things go his way without something blowing up in his face? He was starting to think the answer was honestly no.

" I can fight for myself, but I will," he replied, moving behind the nun as she drew her pistol.

Peter raised an eyebrow as she shoot them, wondering if she had killed them. If not, he might have to fight. What exactly did he have as weapons on him anyways? He remembered quickly that he had something if he needed too and looked at his squirrel who handed him some nuts first.
