Diabolique

They see me rooooollin.
First and most importantly, the rules stated here do not supercede the rules of Story Tellers Circle as a whole. By creating a character sheet and role-playing here, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these rules. Ignorance does not excuse intent, nor protect against actions taken. These rules may have content edited, added, or removed. Please check back every so often to stay up-to-date.

Golden Rule:
Treat others with respect. This is self-explanatory and doesn’t require explaining. If you can’t or won’t, you may be removed. If you and another player have issues that cannot be sorted between the two of you, you may ask a GM to mediate. It is also asked that such issues not be displayed in open forum. Dirty laundry does not need to be aired.

Smut:
Sultry, provocative roleplay is fine. For the story and/or character, it may even be necessary. These are Vampires, after all. Some Clans even pride themselves on their ability to seduce others—mortals and other Vampires alike. We are adults and things tend to get a little passionate. I understand that. However, any roleplay that contains mature (sexual) content MUST have a [NSFW] tag in the thread title. That said, please keep things tasteful. Furthermore, any act should be discussed prior to beginning the roleplay session, and must be consentual/agreeable by both parties.

Post Length:
While there is no strict requirement, it is common courtesy to “reply in kind.” If John types 4 paragraphs for Jane, but Jane only types 2 sentences to John, there appears to be a huge gap in commitment to the roleplay. There is also far less for John to draw from for his next post. If someone is making the effort to deliver quality posts, giving them something completely opposite of their efforts may be insulting. The reverse side of that coin, however, are lengthy posts that have more quantity than quality. Being reasonable, we’ve all seen this. Again, while there is no strict requirement on posting, please do not fluff up your posts with unrelated material, just to have a bigger post size. Some players may prefer quality over quantity, and may feel it is achievable in a single paragraph.

Character Sheets:
This one isn’t a “hard rule,” either. More of a plea. Please do not confuse mediocrity for acceptable. The main focus is role-playing, not character sheets and bios. That is true. However, the character you play is based upon that character sheet. Please try to be as descriptive as you can when telling their story. After all, it is what makes your character.. your character. If your character is proficient with a type of weapon, describe how they learned the craft. Describe the person they learned it from. If they aren’t originally from London, describe what brought them there. Why did they leave America, Canada, Mexico, or wherever they’re from… and travel so far from home? If playing a Vampire who has trained with a Vampire from another clan to learn one of their Disciplines, describe who trained them. Describe their failures and their successes. If you’re playing a Malkavian, describe their derangement. Brujah? Describe what makes them Frenzy.

Metagaming:
Metagaming is any strategy, action, or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. Another definition refers to the game universe outside of the game itself.
Simply put: Just because you know something, that doesn’t mean your character does.

God-Moding:
God Moding, in essence, is when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other characters try. This can be killing or injuring a character without the other player's consent. It can be their inability to be hit or harmed by any source.

Scene Lock:
In an effort to prevent what I am calling "Scene Lock" the following rule shall become applicable if, in your scenes, you are waiting for response from another player, then, after 24 hours, you have still not received a response to your post. If, after 24 hours, you receive no response from the player, you are free to continue the scene without that player.

For example; if there is a scene where John, Jack and Jill are talking but John hasn't responded in 24 hours, then Jack and Jill are free to carry on without John.

This is not intended as a punishment for a player whose real life commitments have prevented them from playing, but to ensure that those players who are available to play are not stuck staring at the forum, spamming the refresh button and hoping that they can do something.

There will be no repercussions for a player causing a scene lock, simply this as a way for a scene locked player to be able to proceed with their session.
