Ever since Arthur Gray’s School of Power began to usher out graduates, it has worked closely with the New Guard, a Seattle-based and government-sponsored superhero group, in order to train promising students to be defenders of their community. Many students work and train with high-ranking members of the New Guard to perfect their Courser powers and perhaps join the team’s ranks. Though not all graduates are cut out for this path in life, many work toward it in order to receive the substantial monetary benefits and high public esteem that come with making the cut.

Some training days, like this day, were considered off days for both the students and their New Guard mentors. Groups of students were shadowing individual New Guard members as they went about their business, though these were considered off days for the fact that nothing tended to happen. Students were not usually a fan of these days as New Guard members were not to do any training, so students were usually stuck watching a hero as they did nothing at all.

Sandra Cohen, ranked second among New Guard members, usually felt pretty bad for the students on these days. She knew how restless anyone at that age could get, especially Coursers who were usually brimming with energy. Sandra would often take her group of students to the Millenium Mall, located just a couple blocks from their school and the New Guard headquarters.

Millenium was built about twelve years prior during a boom in the popularity of shopping malls thanks to technology making navigation in shopping spaces easier than ever. Considering the complete domination of virtual shopping, malls became more about grandeur and display as they functioned more like tourist spots than anything else. Millennium was an eyesore to some, with five floors in total and a view all the way to the bottom from the center of each.

Sandra had brought her group to the third floor, where many of the stores were dedicated to kids, teens, and young adults. She had loved bringing her own kid there, so accompanying the students and letting them challenge her to a couple of the games at the throwback arcade was her way of sharing that joy.

Things were going as normal as ever until Sandra got a sudden call from the New Guard headquarters. She gestured for the students, Benny, Walt, John, Roman, Morgan, and Akiko, to follow her as she walked toward the center of the mall.

“Sandra, we got a disturbance at the mall,” said the bored voice of her operator. “Since you’re already there, could you check it out?”

“What about the mall’s security?” she asked. She looked toward the students that were shadowing her, hoping the matter was not too serious.

“They’re on alert but they believe it’s a PEP, so they would feel more safe with a New Guard member present.”

Sandra signed off and turned to her students. She was about to tell them the situation when she heard a scream nearby. She turned toward the sound, heart now pumping, only to see a commotion at a kid’s toy store. From what she could see, people were running away from what appeared to be giant bubbles. She watched as the bubbles consumed the fleeing customers, carrying them into the air and scattering about.

Sandra looked over her shoulder at her students as she ran toward the store. “We have to evacuate the people from the store!” she yelled. “Safely!”

She turned on her communicator, ready to tell the operator that a dire situation was brewing.

Meanwhile, Wu Zhang -- the third ranked New Guard member -- certainly made sure to take advantage of this sleepy "off-day" while he had his own fair share of students shadowing him, consisting of Tommy, Kylie, Rashida, Vanessa, Stacy, and Cain. Unlike Sandra or his other cohorts in the top echelon of the New Guard, Wu was hardly one for rest, always working to attain self-improvement at any given notice.

As the team found out, he could make for a tedious teacher.

Of course, the rules stipulated that Wu was not to train the students in any official hero matters, but the young man had found a loophole in the wording, and before anyone shadowing him knew it, they suddenly found themselves being forced to meditate in the living quarters of the New Guard HQ, completely empty aside from themselves, sitting crisscrossed on the floor.

As he said to anyone who questioned his decision, including Kylie, meditation was a universal gesture that could benefit anyone. It was important for even the common person to know how to meditate and consolidate their thoughts. It was a loophole, but in his eyes, at least he was teaching the group something of value for the betterment of their characters, so what was the harm?

"Meditation is about airing out the tension from your body and mind. Remember to breathe deeply, and breathe often. In this moment, the entire rest of the world disappears before--" He said, before the sudden sound of his device ringing cut through his words and the tranquil air like a hot knife through butter.

With an annoyed click of the tongue, the young hero stood up on his feet and fished his communicator out of his pocket. If there was one drawback to being such a highly ranked and demanded hero, it was that he was no longer allowed any true privacy. Every time he was needed, it was truly a matter of life and death, so he could never afford to just ignore it either.

"Zhang speaking. What is it?" He said gruffly, maintaining a furrowed expression on his features.

"H-Hi, Wu! Sorry to bother you on your day off and all, but we've got an emergency at the Millennium Mall!" A mousy, feminine voice came from the other end.

"I don't have days off," Wu only flatly said, not even seeming to blink at -- let alone respond to -- the mention of an emergency initially, until he let out a worn sigh. "Anyway, what's the problem?"

"Like I said, there's a big disturbance throughout the entire mall. Security thinks it's a Courser who lost control of their powers, but you'll have to check it for yourself. Sandra's already on the scene, but she may need an extra hand. Since you're just around the block at HQ, that makes you the next closest hero to take care of it. Good luck, Wu! Over and out!" The operator exclaimed, and with that, signed off, prompting Wu to look toward the senior students.

"Unfortunately, it seems that we'll have to cut our session short today. We've evidently got a situation over at the mall," Wu said, adjusting his glasses. "Who's ready to go shopping?"

...

Being that HQ was walking distance from the mall, it took little time at all for Wu and the others to reach the Millennium Mall, especially as he'd commissioned for an employee to transport the group there with a company van.

As they reached the destination, Wu stepped out briskly, hoisting his sheathed sword over his shoulder in a nonchalant manner. "Alright, stay close to me, everyone. This could be dangerous," he said sternly, and with that, made a beeline forward.

The front entrance of the mall was a sprawling open area with beautiful archways over top walkways that weaved through small sections of individual gardens. As Wu's group entered the mall, they found that the lobby was quite massive, with many holographic displays set up about for both navigation and advertisement. People crowded around the displays, apparently having not yet realized there was a situation at all. The robots that hovered about were performing their job of assessing people's needs and moving them along, though as if on cu with Wu's arrival, they started to emit emergency noises. The nearby shoppers looked confused as the bots began ushering them out of the building instead. Wu and his students had to show a scanning robot their badges before it let them through.

With Sandra handling a situation elsewhere, that left Wu confront the Courser. After a brisk run past fleeing shoppers down on to the basement floor, the group came across a young, blond-haired man in front of a large fountain. The normally calm running water was now thrashing about, spitting water everywhere while the man standing in front of it held his face in his hands. A few shoppers stood nearby, not moving despite being told to leave.

Jack, ranked fifth among New Guard members, teleported into the mall with his group of students, ending up on the fifth floor of the building. The man was grumbling, having been interrupted in his shadowing session of making the students stand around while he watched the latest episode of Coursing With Talent. He had been called in after Sandra issued an emergency, though he was specially not happy about having to bring the kids with him. He wasn’t supposed to go anywhere without the kids unless it was really dangerous, though he figured it must be if three New Guard members were being called in.

He was about to contact Wu when the sound of glass cracking distracted him. He turned to see a giant fish tank that went along the entire width of a pet shop. The water inside was churning like a sea in the middle of a storm, making the glass of the tank crack.

“Jack, we need you on the first floor,” came the voice of the New Guard operator. “There’s another disturbance, this one at the food court.”

“Well there’s a-a… situation on the fifth floor too!” Jack barked back. He looked around for a moment before deciding on what to do. He turned to his group of students and locked eyes with a bespectacled teen named Arthur. “Kid, you take charge, okay? Gonna send you and about half of ya down to the food court to deal with something going on there. Got it?”

Arthur took a deep breath and nodded. Jack then teleported him and about half the others away.

With that done, Jack sighed. “Why the hell is there a pet shop on the fifth floor?” He turned to see a group of shoppers heading their way, having no idea the danger they were potentially walking into. “Do what you can about the tank!” Jack commanded his students, consisting of Nathan, Peter, Ann, Dakari, Samantha, and AJ.

Jack then teleported in front of the shoppers, waving them away from the pet shop.

For Arthur and the other students teleported to the food court, what they found was a lot of confused and anxious shoppers standing around, watching as water poured out from the direction of the bathrooms. Arthur looked at the other students, consisting of Kassandra, Jack Parker, Maia, Natalie, Victor, and Melody, wondering what they should actually do about that.

The matter became obvious a moment later when water exploded out from the entrances of the bathrooms. What had been a trickle of water became a wave that rushed down the hall and overtook the food court, picking up poor bystanders in its path.

“Shit!” Arthur yelled. With a control over air, Arthur was able to conjure a heavy wind within the mall that slammed against the rampaging water. Rich, another student, stopped forward and reached out an arm toward the water.

“I’ll help you!” Rich said, adding more strength to the wind. Unlike Arthur, Rich had command over not just the air, but the weather itself.

“We gotta get these people out of here!” Arthur yelled.

JOHN SPOONER
@Atomic Knight @Yun Lee @Sanity43217 @Crunch @Lucky @Ver

"Alright..." said a rather bored voice.

The boy, John, was the sourpuss of Sandra's students. People would say that John was "ungrateful" for being constantly brought to a mall on the "off days", but that's just John. He's a sad loner boy.

He ran to the store before shouting.

"Alright, people, move out of the way!"

He then pointed at a bubble that was about to consume a group of civilians, making it stop in midair.

Truth being told, this meditation session was a struggle for Stacy. Being her hyperactive and energetic self, she struggled to even stay still. When she closed her eyes and tried to focus on what her teacher was telling them to do, she couldn't help but fidget in her spot, bouncing her legs as she tried to stay still.
Time was running so slowly, even more than usual for her, she felt like two hours had passed, and after opening an eye for a second to look at the clock, it had barely been two minutes since the last time she checked.
Stacy began to take deep breaths and tried to slow down as her teacher told them to breathe deeply and let out all the tension in their mind and body. Stacy was making her best effort to do so, but she always found herself fidgeting and bouncing restlessly, even if she wasn't doing any noise, as to not disturb any of her classmates.
Suddenly, the tranquil and peaceful ambient was broken abruptly by the sound of a ringing device. It seems like he had been called for something. Stacy opened her eyes wide the second the ringing began. She listened as her teacher talked and eventually said that their session would be cut short today. Stacy tried to remain still, but as soon as he asked who's ready to go shopping, Stacy bounced out of her place as if she had been sitting on a spring, and leaped high into the air overflowing with excitement. "Now that sounds like fun!" Stacy yelled out loud, once again reverting to her bubbly and energetic self. This was very common for her to do all the time. When she was really excited about something, she would be very expressive about it.
Jack reacted in a flash as soon as he saw the wave of water rampaging ahead, taking everything and everyone in its way. Jack's first instinct was to run ahead to help the people that had been picked up by the wave. As soon as the water had been stopped temporarily by the combined efforts of Arthur and Rich, Jack jumped straight into the water, sinking to the bottom rather quickly.
Truth being told, Jack couldn't swim, even if his life depended on it. His body was just too dense to be able to float at all. However, it was so dense that it allowed him to actually be able to run in the water as if he were outside the water. This odd side effect of his power is what had given Jack more confidence to traverse into the water, since he had initially been reluctant to enter the water before this discovery, as he couldn't swim. All he had to do was to make sure he didn't stay in there for long.
Jack grabbed the people that had been picked up by the wave, and jumped out of the water with them, landing behind Arthur and Rich, who were still trying to stop the water from advancing further. Jack then carried them out of the area, and placed them safely on the ground. Once they were in a safe area, Jack ran back inside to get as many people as possible out of the mall before the water came in and flushed them away. Using his fast running speed to move around quickly, he ran over to help any other bystanders that were in the area.

Sitting still, breathing deep and letting the tension in him go, Cain found the meditation a gradual thing to sink into, like sinking into bed after a long day at work. Bed sounded nice right about now. Taking a nap and simply relaxing definitely sounded nice right now.

There was a soft blue flicker beside the senior for a moment, before the shrill ringing from Wu caused it to flicker out completely and his eyes to open. Leaning back on his hands as the New Guard member spoke into the communicator.

He didn't comment on the question about going shopping, and if you asked Cain it sounded a lot like a one liner.

The brunette sighed as Stacy shouted and jumped around, stretching as he stood, ready to go.

Cain was at a slight loss of what to do once they actually got to the mall, really. While the meditation from earlier could of, technically, count as a training exercise for him in regards to his Astral Projection being in this situation made him uneasy as all hell.

The guy seemed distressed, as far as Cain could tell, so it made sense to him that if they even attempted to approach that they had to be somewhat delicate with this man's emotions being so chaotic.

Noticing that there were some bystanders still in the area, the brunette took a deep, calming breath and focused. Flickering in front of the bystanders, the young man's soul stood before them, frowning.

"You guys need to leave, now. It's dangerous here." His tone was urgent, if a little exasperated. Did they know this man? Did they not see that the man could hurt himself and them if they didn't get to safety?

@Ver @Jeremi @Gummi Bunnies @Redfork2000

Dakari bit his lip as the group was asked to handle the fish tank however they could. His first concern had been the animals inside, but his second was how to prevent any massive flooding and broken glass from injuring his classmates or civilians if things went south any faster than they seemed to be.

The fact he had sound based powers didn't help the situation either, but what can ya do?

"Please tell me you guys have some plan in mind so there's as little damage as possible?" The blonde asked with an anxious chuckle.

@Atomic Knight @Sark @Lucky @Jeremi @Space_Candy

Rashida Jones

This was why she liked Wu. Rashida sat calmly breathing in and out during their meditation session. Using all the dead air for something useful like meditation, something Rashida thought a lot of her classmates could use for some good. She had come to Arthur Gray's to learn how to use her powers in the best way possible. They were after all like any other tool you could use in your daily life. Use them long enough and you'd master them.

In theory at least. Rashida felt like she had done a good job, though she wasn't the type of person who sought out ways for improvement. She did it on her own most of the time, much like with everything in her life and it had worked out just fine.

Then the unfortunate news of a disturbance. Rashida kept her eyes closed hoping it wasn't anything serious but, it seemed they had to move out.

Arriving at the mall Rashida wasn't sure how to present herself. Should she walk in as is or activate her powers? Perhaps that was to be too confrontational? They spotted the target? No he wasn't a thing or something to take down. They were here to help. Despite looking calm Rashida was starting to be very unsure of herself. Perhaps it was best if she stood there for the time being.

Wu would know what to do, it didn't seem right for the student to take the first step.

Ann Dolby

"You got it!" Came the very enthusiastic remark from the bespectacled dark haired girl. Ann had been waiting for something like this andn ow it was finally here. Field work! Even if it was just stopping some water and fish from escaping. Oh and the glass. Couldn't forget about the glass.

Dakari spoke up about a solution and Ann wasn't quite sure until. "Oh! I think I might have something!" Ann always tried her best in using her powers but it wasn't always problem free. Last week one of her legs had been stuck one inch longer than the other after a spring jump failure. She did the old school finger in mouth gesture acting like she was blowing up her hand, and then the other one. She spread her fingers wide to try and block the entrance to the pet store when she realized.

"Fuck." She was standing to far away to fully block the store front. She could have moved them but the snap back it would cause would've just made the situation even worse.

She sheepishly turned around to the rest of the squad. "C-Could you guys like...move my arms to cover the store?" She thought she had been so cool too...

Walter Heath
Walter sighed as he was called to action. More out of habit than actually not wanting to help. Walt pulled a metal flask from his black, jacket pocket. The familiar burn of a twelve year old scotch greeted the Courser when he brought the flask up to his lips. Savouring the Smokey tasting notes, closed his eyes and re-capped the flask. Just inhaling deeply.
Placing the flask back in his jacket pocket, he turned to group and smirked. “And I thought today would be boring.” Flicking his jacket off, he let it drop to the ground. Standing there in a Grey t-shirt, dark jeans and brown RM Williams boots, he started to march forward with purpose.
Red veins snaked down his forearms, as his body began to alter itself. Boosting his strength and durability. His eyes darkened behind the rose coloured lenses of his sunglasses.
He never was good at the protecting people thing. He always preferred a more direct approach of neutralising a threat.
So, he marched onward into the fray, leaving the others to evacuate the civilians.

The bubble John stopped may have been frozen, but civilians ran in fear from it nonetheless. One slammed right into John, knocking the both of them over. It was a young man, who sputtered and swore in surprise. As he got to his feet, his embarrassment over running into someone turned to anger, which overtook his fear in the moment. "The fuck is wrong with you?!" he yelled at John.

Sandra was nearby, directing people away from the stray bubbles. One bubble hit her and bounced back thanks to her powers, but some of the civilians weren't so lucky. A little girl ended up consumed by on of the bubbles as it consumed her into itself and continued floating with her stuck inside. They were more resilient than normal bubbles thanks to whatever power was moving them about. As Sandra moved to chase after it, she found herself distracted by Walt entering the store.

"Walt, the civilians come first!" she yelled, though she had a feeling he was not going to listen. She watched as a wall of bubbles burst forth from the store, threatening to consume Walt.

@Yun Lee @Sanity43217 @Capri @Crunch @Lucky @Ver @ToyStore

The distressed Courser was bristling. Whatever was going on with him, it was evidently pressing enough that his powers were going haywire across the entire mall. The bystanders were more in awe than anything else, transfixed by a scene that they didn't happen to see every day. However, Cain's warnings got a few of them to break out of their stupor and some even ran in fear of him.

Tommy was staring the guy down, about as unwilling to make the first move as Rashida and the others were. His powers weren't exactly safe when it came to water, so he would be less of a help if this came to a fight or something. He considered just asking Wu what they should do, but it occurred to Tommy that it might be good for him to take some initiative here. If the New Guard saw what he could do in an unplanned emergency scenario, it could only make all the difference for later.

Tommy began to move forward, his hands outstretched in a placating manner. The Courser didn't seem to notice anyone or anything around him, so Tommy called out. "Hey, man. Tell me what's wrong. What can we do for you?" Though the man didn't respond, Tommy continued forward, hoping his slow movements would not set this guy off more than he already was.

@Ver @Jeremi @Gummi Bunnies @Redfork2000 @Takumi @Fountain

"Uh, okay!" Sam exclaimed, taking hold of one of Ann's arms and beginning to run with it. This seemed like a sound idea, though Sam doubted that Ann could hold back all the water if the tank burst. "Someone get the other one!" she yelled as she tried to stretch Ann's arms and fingers to cover the glass.

"Good idea," Jack said, running back. "I'll check the inside," he said, before disappearing in thin air.

@Lucky @Sark @Jeremi @Takumi @Space_Candy @PetStore

"Jesus!" Arthur exclaimed as he watched Jack dive into the water. "Is he going to be okay?" He let out another exclamation as Jack began to literally fish the civilians out of the water.

"Good job!" Rich yelled as he went back into the water again.

It seemed like a good plan overall, but as water continued to build up, Arthur found himself faltering to keep it all held back. Water splashed against the wind, thrown back in waves like in the middle of a storm. The raging water made it only harder for Jack to grab civilians who were getting thrown back and forth, struggling to keep their heads afloat above the water.

Vanessa was moments away from taking the initiative on approaching the distressed Courser, until Tommy practically beat her to it. She only kept herself prepared in case this didn't go as smoothly as any of them wanted. Better that she let him try his hand on communicating with the other Courser, as having more than one person approach in a situation like this was too much pressure.

"U-um, makeshift barricade! Right! Barricade... barricade..." Natalie repeated to herself, her eyes darting all over the food court. Settling with some tipped over tablets, she dragged over a single table on it's side over to where Arthur and Rich were holding off the water from flooding the entire area.

"Careful now... gotta be careful..." She took a deep breath before resting her hand on the table firmly, and just like that, the tipped over table began to expand in size. It wasn't long until it appeared like a strange table-like dam, leaving Natalie hoping that this would help along with the rescue process.

@MaxIrvaron @Redfork2000 @Space_Candy @Yun Lee @Chaos Sphere @Atomic Knight @FoodCourt

Jack noticed that Natalie had made a dam to try and stop the water from advancing further. Once he had made sure all the civilians were out of the area, he came back to where the water was being held in pace. "Good job Natalie." Jack said as he gave her a thumbs up with a smile on his face. He then turned back to Arthur. "I've already made sure to get all the civilians out of here, they're safe now. What's next?" Jack asked him.

STACY PATTERSON

Location: Fountain
@Atomic Knight @Ver @Jeremi @Gummi Bunnies @Takumi

As they arrived at the fountain, Stacy's attention went straight towards the Courser. She didn't know much about what to do at the moment, and saw that Tommy had taken the initiative to try and talk to the other Courser. She was tempted to try do something, but realizing the tension in this situation, she decided to not do anything, at least not yet. She was ready though. If anything went wrong and this broke into a fight, Stacy was more than ready to zoom around and do whatever was necessary.

Cain rolled his eyes with a small huff before he turned to the remaining bystanders and made a shooing motion with both ethereal hands.

"Don't just stand there! Evacuate to safety!" He called, the urgency remaining in his voice. If they were scared of him or not, he didn't quite care as long as he at least had the intended effect of getting some of the people out of the area. Hopefully, out harms way.

If they heeded his warning, he'd leave the talking to Tommy for now and return to his physical body. If a fight broke out he'd be useless in this state if his body ended up in any serious danger. From there, it seemed to be a waiting game on whether the distressed Courser responded to Tommy or snapped like a taut rubber band.

@Atomic Knight @Redfork2000 @Ver @Jeremi @Gummi Bunnies @Fountain

"On it!" Dakari replied to Sam as he grabbed Ann's other hand to help with the barricade, following Sam's lead.

With Jack saying he'd check out the inside of the store, the blonde had enough time to mutter a quick 'Stay safe' before the other was gone in the blink of an eye. With that, the blonde Courser really hoped that it would be enough for the meantime until everything settled down. He just hoped they'd settle down soon.

JOHN SPOONER
@Atomic Knight @Ver @Yun Lee @Crunch @Sanity43217 @ToyStore

“I’m in the middle of a job right now, so please get somewhere safe,” John said joylessly as he made the bubble holding the little girl stop.

“Get her out of there!” He said, throwing a knife from his pocket. He always carried one just in case, some advice he had taken long ago when he mastered velocity.

The knife curved around the bubble, attempting to cut it open without harming the girl.

What the frick- AAAAAAAAH SOMETHING'S HAPPENING! were Kasey's immediate thoughts as soon as the water started to make a ruckus, and her eyes widened as she took a second to take in what exactly what was happening. She reacted much more slowly than Jack, who was impressively fast when it came to being a savior and she watched as he got bystanders.

"Nice rescue, Jack!" Kassandra called out to him, giving him two thumbs-up. She also turned to see Arthur, Rich, and Vanessa all trying to stop the source... and, inconveniently, Jack landed right near them. Damn! They haven't been able to stop it yet? Then, she cracked her knuckles. Well, looks like I can try to help.

She would then stretch her hands out and lift them upwards, almost as if she were carrying a huge weight. Across the bathroom doors, a blue-silver diamond wall would lift up to go about halfway, enough to stop the water from violently flooding..... though with one thing.

It'd be created at the same time Natalie made the table barricade, and because of that, the tables would stack on top of the crystal wall, making it look disorganized... but still useful. Kasey blinked repeatedly and groaned. Maybe I should've communicated better, she thought with an internal laugh.

Kasey, having made the structure, didn't need any more physical movements with her hands, and headed over to the rest of the group.

"Ayyy, let's go, team! You were looking really heroic out there, Jack! And y'all really held the fort up here, it could've flooded a heck of a lot more!" Kasey complimented. "I made enough of a wall that it won't be shooting out all of that nasty water at us, but not too much to the point where the bathroom could explode. Anything else we can do for now besides call a really good plumber?"

@Redfork2000 @Gummi Bunnies @Jeremi @Food Court

Victor Elroy

Victor knew that his power cannot do anything that would do much for this situation. He could only watch and survey the area while Jack Parker successfully salvages the terrified civilians, feeling down on the fact that he cannot the kind of hero who can champion those who are in need; nor did he think that anyone would take the warnings of a person wearing a pilot's helmet in the middle of the mall seriously. He watched his other colleague, Natalie, putting up a table-shaped dam to further hold back the water.

Once the situation at hand has been handled, he raised his hand and tried to notify the other students, "I am planning to go and search for a possible cause of this," preparing himself to split from the group if necessary and looking around to see if there is anything that could lead him to the hypothesized possible origin. He sees no reasonable possibility of the cause of this wild torrent being in the bathroom, and it appears likely that whatever caused may cause it to happen again. He just can't help but hold on to these assumptions.

As Tommy made his way towards the unknown Courser. Rashida readied herself. Walking slightly off to the side she eyed the Courser if the situation looked like it was going to go sour. If push came to shove she might have to put down this poor soul hard just so that they wouldn't hurt any more people.

Wow! Had she actually thought of something good? "Thank youuuu!" Ann chirped to the students pushing her hands into place. "I know that's not much but it might help getting all of us wet, right?" Hopefully at least. Ann really wanted to prove herself in any small way that she could. If she wanted to be a superhero she thought she needed people to start talking about her in a good way.

She'd be team leader in no time.

"We'd be better off without you PEPs!" the rude bystander said viciously to John before running off.

The bubble carrying the girl popped and she fell down on her hands and knees. A woman, presumably her mother ran to scoop the girl up. As they ran away, a few more bubbles followed them.

Sandra caught up with Walt and jumped in front of him to bounce the bubbles away. These ones were launched backward, exploding against the front of the toy store and causing real damage. Sandra ran into the store, only to see a large toy was the cause of the disturbance. Some kind of bubble maker that was going haywire, likely due to the Courser on the premises if Sandra had to guess. Though not many Coursers had the power to affect something so far away from them.

Sandra moved to disable the machine, but a bubble that had missed her ended up bouncing back toward her. Being caught unaware, Sandra ended up consumed by the bubble and lifted toward the ceiling of the toy store.

@Yun Lee @Sanity43217 @Capri @Crunch @Lucky @Ver @ToyStore

Damn it, Tommy thought, realizing that this guy probably wasn't really hearing a thing he said. "Hey buddy... come on..." Tommy turned his head as he spoke, watching as the civilians cleared out from the area. Figuring now was the time to try a new tactic, Tommy stretched a hand toward the Courser's shoulder, hoping to shake him from whatever stat he was in.

Wu opened his mouth to argue against this, but the man retaliated before h could say anything. A burst of water suddenly erupted from the fountain, consuming Tommy and the Courser as it went straight for the group, though Rashida and Cain were safe from it. Tendrils of water came out of the fountain, hovering in the air to threaten Cain and Rashida.

@Ver @Jeremi @Gummi Bunnies @Redfork2000 @Takumi @Fountain

As Sam and Dakari moved Ann's skin to cover the tank, Jack teleported in and out of the store, bringing a couple civilians with him each time as he did so. "Run to safety!" he told each group before disappearing once again.

The sound of glass cracking could be heard, even as the tank disappeared under Ann. "A-Are you sure you can hold it?" Sam asked cautiously.

@Lucky @Sark @Jeremi @Takumi @Space_Candy @PetStore

With Arthur beginning to struggle on holding the water back, Rich had to consider the risk of assisting Natalie with the makeshift dam. As the dam would take some of the load off Arthur, Rich made a run for it to start stacking tables for Natalie to expand. "Get these!" he yelled, just as Jack was finishing rescuing the last of the civilians.

The crystals at the bathroom doors stemmed the rushing water, making it so the amount in the Food Court would not grow bigger very quickly, though still the waves were almost reaching the ceiling.

Still controlling the winds, Arthur struggled with an answer to Jack. "N-Now we... we..."

"Even if we line up a whole wall, it's just temporary," Rich said. "Even with the crystals. The Food Court's too big."

Arthur shot a frustrated look at Rich. "I know! And then... it'll flood the whole lower level of the mall. We just need to get everyone out of here!"

"We might miss someone--"

Arthur interrupted Rich with a grunt. Water was spilling past the barrier of wind and tables. "It's all I can think of!" Arthur exclaimed. "Any other ideas, huh?!"

"Yeah, I think..." Rich moved his hands to direct the others to the Food Court exit hall. "Move everyone out of here! We should fall back, get more tables up at the exit to make it as narrow as possible."

Arthur shook his head. "Fine! I'll fall back once you have the exit covered!" He looked to Victor and thought upon what he said. "Okay, just-- don't go missing!"

"It's a good plan, then!" Kasey said with an encouraging voice. "You guys should focus on the exits and evacuating people. I still have a crap ton of crystal cubes I can make to hold the water." To demonstrate, Kasey flickered her fingers, and three small crystal pyramids dropped from her right hand. "I can keep going for a hot minute until I reach my limit. I'm sure I can buy you guys enough time!"

Kasey gave them all a thumbs-up and smiled.... but internally, she was sweating. Crap, can I hold off all of this water for long enough? I've been practicing my crystal capacity.... but how many crystals can I make again? Kasey tried remembering, but she was totally blank right now! Aw, crap, I can't remember!

Kasey looked to the water. I guess if push comes to shove, I could try crystallizing the water.... but it takes way longer for my touch crystallization to work on liquids, and by then, I'll have made too many crystals to crystallize all of the water! Kasey sighed and then looked back to her temporary team.

"I'm counting on you guys! Give 'em hell!"

Rashida scoffed. If this was what it came to then there was no choice. Behind her six ethereal arms materialized from thin air. She sprang forwards the bubble keeping an eye on the tentacles as she attempted to pull both Tommy and Courser out of the bubble if she got close enough.

Of course she couldn't promise that, but she couldn't show she was insecure now, right? "W-Well duh! Of course it's going to hold." Even if it didn't...she could try and soften any of the glass that tried to escape through her hand. "Besides! I bet y'all have never seen bouncy glass before! Well now's your chance!"

Jack listened as they explained the plan. He nodded, and then quickly proceeded to run and help get everyone out of the area so they wouldn't be in danger. Using his fast running speed to move around faster, and his strength, his idea was to simply lift all the civilians that were still there and take them to the exit. "Sorry about this, but it's not safe here." Jack said to each civilian as he picked them up and carried them towards the exit. He continued doing a few trips as he carried the people out of the area, not because he couldn't carry them all at once, but because he didn't want them to get squished by carrying too many of them at once.

STACY PATTERSON

Stacy, seeing everything unfold in slow-motion, was the first one that was able to react to the burst of water coming from the fountain. For the others it seemed like a sudden event that couldn't be avoided in time, but due to Stacy's perception of everything in slow-motion, she was able to react and dash away before the water took her with it. However, seeing that the water had shaped into tendrils ready to attack, she stayed ready for action, and ready to dash around and help the others if necessary.

"Tommy--!" Wu hissed out as the boy initially stepped forward to try talking down the Courser at the fountain. He was ready to scold the boy, but stopped himself as it almost seemed for a minute that his approach was going to work out. Almost. It was then that the burst of water came and engulfed Tommy and the culprit himself, before beginning to extend to the group as well. Finally forced to act, Wu stuck out his arm, opening up his palm and activating his power as the water began to rush right at him.

"Get behind me, Heidrich!" He exclaimed, ushering Kylie behind himself, and only able to hope that Vanessa was able to follow suit while Stacy seemed to maneuver herself out of harm's way. As the water rushed toward them, just as it seemed they were about to be engulfed, the water suddenly halted with rude abandon, as though the wave had slammed into an invisible wall, before calming and beginning to flow around their feet. Wu had just manipulated the space in front of himself to not only protect himself from the full force of the burst, but also drain away at its kinetic energy so it would pose little threat after the fact.

Once she saw her opportunity, Kylie stepped out from behind and looked toward Vanessa and Stacy. "Now's our chance! Let's help Rashida out! That guy can't take down all of us at once!" She exclaimed, before dashing forward toward the Courser at the center of the situation, hoping to provide some backup to help pull the two out if able.

Wu said nothing again; for all intents and purposes, he was supposed to advise the students to stay back and let him handle it by himself, but the higher-ups could stuff it for all he cared. Even if they might get hurt acting like big damned heroes, that was the whole point of heroism, wasn't it? For now, he stayed behind and attempted to cut through the water, using his power to slash repeatedly at the bubble with his sword even while he was as far away as he was, hoping to create an opening for the others to burst through.

"A simple thank you would have sufficed," Ayako huffed as the rude bystander who said his piece to John came running past her and out of the store. Not that she wasn't used to this kinda stuff. Even if she wasn't a Courser, life wouldn't have been much different for her, she imagined, but this was neither here nor there.

She bucked her knees as she saw a girl get trapped into a bubble, ready to use her power to nullify the bubble and catch her, but decided to let John take care of it since he was closer. Instead, she turned her attention over to the supposed source of the bubbles; a toy bubblemaker that seemed to be manipulated by the actual Courser who was behind all of this.

Ayako hesitated as Sandra ended up being caught in one of the subsequent bubbles as well, gritting her teeth as she was stuck between a rock and a hard place as she was. Still, she couldn't just stand around and do nothing, so she'd have to make a judgment call.

Turning to John, she pointed toward Sandra. "Hey! Help Mrs. Sandra out, will you?! I'll try taking care of the bubble maker!" She exclaimed, before activating her power of nullification with that, eyes glowing a bright crimson as she rushed forward, hoping to be able to swipe away each bubble that came her way harmlessly and reach the bubblemaker, and if able to, attempting to break it for all the good that might do.

Victor nodded at Arthur's request before promptly turning away from the group, starting his search by observing the food court nearby and looking at whatever view is available for the other floors, hoping that he would see at least one lead that would allow him to pinpoint the culprit behind this. Would that lead be another large gush of water, or some flooding and large out-of-place puddles? Perhaps even a sudden fish or some stray bubbles would do for him, even if he thinks that such leads are unlikely.

While he is more than confident that he can memorize his way to the exit of the mall, he is wary that whatever, or whoever, is causing an aquatic rage in the mall might make themselves a difficult target to track.
