Real Name:
Luca Evans
Alias: Archangel
Allegiance: None - Lone Hero
Sex: Male
Race: Celestial-Infused Human
Age: 19
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 151lbs

Appearance: Luca is a handsome young man with almost unnaturally blemish-free skin and finely sculpted features. He stands at a relatively average height, and has a slender but athletic build (one that he's scarcely had to work for, it seems). His red-auburn hair is of middling length, falling to just shy of the bottom of his ears, complete with a messy fringe just shy of his hazel-gold eyes. His sense of fashion is fairly loose, largely consisting of casual shirts and jeans without any real thought put into a 'look'.

When acting as Archangel, Luca's eyes glow golden and he sprouts a pair of radiant golden wings that upon his back. He disguises his face and hair with a golden mask of carbon fibre, topped with a pair of miniature wings in hermes-sandal style. His 'costume' consists of a custom-made black jacket with golden trim, designed to accommodate his wings, worn over a simple black top and pants, along with steel-toed boots and reinforced gloves. The costume is notably... improvised. Though the mask and jacket are custom made, they aren't quite to the aesthetic or functional quality of most League heroes. He's just a college student that made a costume, after all.

Personality: Luca isn't the most social butterfly, largely keeping to himself and his studies where possible. He has a small, close-knit group of friends that he trusts with most things short of his alternate identity as archangel. Only two others know that: his best friend Amber, and his mother Leah. He can be mistrustful and leery towards strangers, but not without cause. Having to constantly keep his alter-ego hidden makes for a degree of paranoia. Amongst friends, Luca lets loose somewhat, and has even been known to crack the occasional joke (if you're lucky). One thing Luca always is, is passionate - whether it's happiness, anger or sadness, he's emotionally driven behind his walls, and has a strong sense of empathy and right/wrong which is what drove him to vigilantism. He has power, and he feels obligated to use it for good. Even if he doesn't trust most people, he'll willingly put his life on the line for strangers.

Goals & Ambitions: Luca's still figuring out his place in the world. Whilst thus far he's pretended at a normal life, and has pursued a normal path of education, he knows that his powers will eventually deny him that. For the time being, he just wants to enjoy college whilst still doing good - as naive as that may be.

He generally looks up to organisations like the Justice League and the Titans, but doesn't necessarily agree with all of their policies. He doesn't understand them letting many of their worst enemies go again and again, when lives could be saved by ending their threat permanently. That's why he, for now, has little interest in joining any of them.

Abilities & Equipment:
  • Flight (capable of speeds matching light aircraft)
  • Conjuration: Flaming Sword
  • Energy Projection (Celestial Energy - including beams, shields, and weapons)
  • Celestial Fire Creation/Projection (Celestial Fire acts much like normal fire, but Luca can snuff it out at will. He can't manipulate regular fire.)
  • Healing (moderate, Luca can bring people back from the brink and make a fatal injury into a survivable one, but his healing isn't instant and takes more time the worse the injury is)
  • Light Projection
  • Divine Sense - Malice/Lies/Emotions (Luca has a sixth sense for malicious intent, can usually tell when he's being lied to, and get a general sense of a person's emotional state when close to them)
  • Enhanced Physical Strength (Moderate - far from Superman-level strength, Luca's strength is more comparable to that of someone like Spiderman. Forgive my wrong-universe examples.)
  • Enhanced Reflexes (Minor to Moderate - no bullet dodging, or superspeed, but Luca can out-brawl all but the most elite of regular humans by merit of his reaction times).
  • Enhanced Physical Resilience (Minor - a bullet will still pierce Luca, without his shields. It may do less damage than it would to a normal human, however).
  • Enhanced Healing (Minor - Luca can recover from what would normally be fatal injuries, but not in a wolverine-like way. He might heal from a gunshot in a day, for instance, but not a minute).
  • Inherent Talent: Swordsmanship (Luca can wield his sword as though he'd been training with it all his life).

Weaknesses: Luca has no 'specific' weaknesses aside from his lack of Superman-level invulnerability. Shoot him enough with big enough guns, and he'll run out of juice to shield himself, and go down. Anything that prevents him flying is a notable weakness, as his perfect air-manoeuvrability is one of his strongest assets in keeping himself unharmed.

Personal History: Luca's story begins with his mother, Leah Evans. Leah was newly pregnant with Luca when her husband Ryan was killed during an attack by Felix Faust in DC, where the two of them lived. He was buried out in the country, near his family home, and it was while grieving by his gravestone alone that her sorrow served as a beacon for a visitor from another realm. A dying angel, fallen to the world due to a tear in reality caused by a war in their heavens, found her - drawn by her emotions. Stunned (as she'd never been a particularly religious woman), Leah sat with the angel as the life faded from him. As a gift for the comfort she offered, the angel infused a portion of his essence into her unborn child: a gift of protection and power, that he might use to prevent the wrongs that had struck down his father. Then he passed into nothingness, fading away.

Luca's powers didn't manifest until he was a young teenager, though he was always unusually athletic and strong. Keeping his powers secret whilst learning to master them became difficult, and he grew frustrated with the necessity. But Leah knew that if his powers were known, he'd never have a chance at anything approaching a normal childhood, and so she impressed upon him the need to hide them.

Only after moving away from the small town they'd called home (Leah had moved out of DC following Ryan's death) and into DC for college did Luca begin to utilise his powers under the identity of Archangel. It's been a year since then, and he's confronted more than one powerful villain and saved a lot of lives. His uniquely 'divine' countenance has inspired a lot of reverence from some religious folk, and vitriol from others who declare him a 'blasphemous false angel'. He tries to ignore that side of his fame/infamy as best he can.

Occupation: College Student, studying Art and Mythology.

Family:
  • Mother: Leah Evans
