Lucas Georgiou – M, 41 – Luin (Rollo)

Thanos Georgiou – M, 24 – King’s Guard (Andelorn)

Appearance and Personality:

Rhea is headstrong and wilful, especially after being babied for most of her early life. She’s far too idealistic, but not sheltered. She sees how her “Aunties” are treated and often interacts with both the forge and dock workers, as well as family accountants and servants. She will believe the best of people, even if it goes against her own self-preservation and interest. She has become significantly warier since she was attacked, but, as she is stubborn as her father, her streak of optimism runs a mile deep. She hates the cold and cruel people of all classes. She enjoys speaking to her grandmother, Renata, and brother, Rouvin. Her mother and father are often away, but she loves them very much. She misses Thanos, but after his letters trailed off and stopped coming, she decided he must be so busy he didn’t have time to update her like he did for his father.

Rhea is of average height and weight. She used to be quite plump, but now tends toward muscular. Her features are warm and emotive, with a prominent cupid’s bow and strong eyebrows. Her eyes are a dark blue-green, like her father’s and she inherited her mother and grandmother’s once rich black hair. Her skin is a blend of her mother’s pale northern skin and her father’s mahogany complexion, somewhere around a light chestnut tone.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Rhea’s strengths aren’t her martial skills. If anything, it’s her innate belief in people, her experience with both very high and very low social classes, and her ability to speak and relate to all people that defines her strength. Her climbing and ability to avoid, run, and ride are other key qualities. She makes a good distraction, but her knives are only for self defense and she has never killed anyone.

Rhea’s weaknesses include her stubborn naivety and her ability to put on characters as she pleases. It makes it difficult for her to make friends with people who have seen her switch from mask to mask. She also loves living a comfortable life, with easy access to books and scholars as her privilege allowed her. If she leaves her family or finds herself in a less privileged position, she would be very frustrated with people underestimating her and denying her previous opportunities.

History or Backstory:
We don’t expect a sob story tainted with blood from fallen allies, but we want to see what caused your character to become the way he/she is as of the beginning of the RP.

Rhea is the grand-daughter of Renata, a Guardian who abandoned the castle after finding out she was pregnant. She absolutely hated the thought of her unborn child living in the uncertainty and battle-readiness that existed in the Impregnable Fortress.

Renata fled to Rollos, where, shortly after her arrival, she gave birth to a daughter, Daniela, under the care of a brothel, Siren’s Cove, that had given her shelter. Renata thereafter worked as a guard and enforcer for one of the city port’s largest brothels and became close friends with the Madame of the house, Seraphina. After Daniela was old enough to be without her mother and she had saved enough money and curried enough favour, Renata burned the majority of her upper back to conceal the Guardian tattoo she once had. She spent months recovering and never fully regained full mobility, with the thick scarring on her shoulder and back, but continued working as an enforcer for the brothel.

Eventually Daniela grew up to be a pretty young woman with one badass Mother, multiple cunning “Aunties”, and one intimidatingly well-connected Madame. She was forbidden from working anywhere near Siren’s Cove, instead working at a bar near the docks, the Hope and Anchor, owned by an ex-prostitute, Maria, and her husband, William.

This is where she caught the eye of the young Lord of the Georgiou Family, Milos. Milos was the eldest son of the head of the family and was slated to inherit the wealth of gold and knowledge this metal-crafting merchant family had handed down and fine-tuned over generations. He initially courted Daniela for her raven hair, but soon fell deeply in love with her sharp tongue, intuition with people, and, after many, many failed attempts at wooing, her smile.

Theirs was a happy marriage with support from his father, who had also wed a commoner, with little fuss from the rest of the family, except his brother Lucas, who was disgusted by the fact that Daniela grew up in a port brothel.

After a couple years, a happy baby girl, Rhea is born. She excels in her studies, especially with languages, and horseback riding. As the darling of her family, she grows up with her cousin, Thanos, who is dear to her, but eventually leaves to join the King’s Guard. Then, at the age of 38, the now Lady Daniela becomes pregnant unexpectedly and gives birth to a seemingly healthy baby boy, Rouvin. Rouvin grows normally until the nanny notices that he does not react to the sound of his name or, in fact, any sound at all. Rouvin is deaf and the family does not know what to do.

Milos, frustrated with what he learns of deaf people in Rollos, commissions a clerk and scholar from a nearby school to document and expand on the rudimentary language for his son. Rhea, impertinent and used to getting her way even at the mere age of 14, insists that she both help learn and teach this language to her baby brother.

A decade later, the entire family is fluent in the newly created Sign-speak, which is also used as shorthand in the family forges by workers, and at the docks on their ships as they find it easy to learn and to use as it often gets too loud or they are too far apart to speak clearly to one another.

Rhea, attending a city festival is cornered by a group of drunken sailors who harass her and tear her clothing. She manages to escape, but the memory haunts her every moment for several weeks until Gran-mama Renata notices. She confesses the event, her anger, frustration and helplessness spilling out of her eyes as tears and her clenched hands tear her handkerchief nearly in two and her Gran-mama knows that even if her daughter was content living her life as a Lady of Rollos, her grand-daughter never will. She’s far too idealistic and headstrong.

So, Gran-mama Renata offers to train Rhea, secretly, in the ways of the Guardians that she left 45 years ago. Rhea learned to throw and fight with knives. She learned to climb and avoid blows and balance on the palm of her hand on the post of the laundry line.

She also learns, from her mother and a new generation of cunning “Aunties”, the importance of knowing people, their wants, their flaws, their weak spots. She learns to manipulate her appearance, her posture and language to suit the needs of every social situation she gets herself.

Name: Thanos Georgiou

Gender, Age: Male, 24

Role (Family): King’s Guard (Andelorn), but he’s originally from a major trading seaside port in Rollon.

Appearance and Personality:

Thanos normally has a warm brown complexion that darkens to a deep mahogany when he’s out in the sun, be it on the training field or the docks. He has thick black hair with loose curls and can grow a beard, but last time he tried, it came in patchy and Rhea poked fun at him for weeks, so he just prefers to stay clean-shaven nowadays (even if he finds how fast his hair grows irritating). He has a strong brow, and keen brown eyes that are so dark they almost seem black. Despite his resilient features, he has a medium stature, only an inch or two taller than his cousin, Rhea, and retains a lithe, swimmer’s musculature on a stocky frame.

He has irregular pink lines scarring his upper thigh and curving up his left side almost to his armpit from when he was stung by a jellyfish while out sailing with some friends. He nearly drowned from the pain and was rescued by a then acquaintance Avon Dallen, who later became a steadfast friend and unrequited (?) love.

He is bisexual, although he didn’t figure it out until he was in his late teens because he wasn’t emotionally invested in any of the people he interacted with outside his family. He tends to be reserved, intelligent and thinks deeply before speaking. He takes things far too seriously, and often has difficulty with people who exaggerate and talk themselves or other subjects up. He struggles with opening up emotionally, and will often let his anger fester until it explodes violently. He is deeply loyal to few people in his life, but does not particularly care for king and country.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Thanos will come to the most logical conclusion according to his priorities at any given time. He does not place too much value in rules, except that following them typically makes his life easier, therefore… He’s very capable with both sword and shield. He is also surprisingly open-minded (from his education with the scholar) and can easily accept people although they don’t often expect him too. He is not easily manipulated with emotions, and is well versed with history and the ability to insert biases into both reputations and history books. He is well verse with sailing and understands the basics of navigating by the stars.

His weaknesses include his inability to not take things with a grain of salt, his emotional repression (even if he’s mostly even-keeled, when he’s not it gets bad), and his ability to turn into a mute, stony-faced yet blushing mess when around charming men or women with sunny personalities. He also doesn’t like wearing heavy armor, relying on speed, technique and his shield to carry him through fights. He is absolutely shit at throwing things, fishing, dancing and formal events.

History:

Thanos is the eldest son of the second heir of the Georgiou family. Lucas Georgiou, his father, manages the family’s production of small scale delicate instruments, such as astrolabes, scales and engraved sheaths, shields, etc, which, while not as common as plows and nails and knives, as still quite necessary and often sell for quite a bit more. Because of this, he has some experience with the use and determining the quality of finer metal instruments.

His relationship with his father is quite precarious although they were on better terms when he was younger. He was often in his mother’s company. As a bisexual heir to his father’s position, he cannot guarantee that the family bloodline will carry on, so the title was forcibly passed down to his younger sister, Noa. His father was quite invested in him being his successor, so when he found out he was furious. Thanos quietly took up an apprenticeship at a nearby city hall and left. He had studied swordsmanship for most of his childhood, but after trouble started at home, he switched over to calligraphy with the determined prompting of a rather demanding scholar. At the city center, he studied, and copied old historical texts on ancient wars, peoples, stars and healing methods. He learned about how Rollon used to treat Guardians and their place in the history books. He read banned books and often listened to other students on their studies on trade, history, music and poetry.

This apprenticeship allowed him to grow and heal away from his family. Frequent visits from Rhea and Rouvin also helped. He visited bars and brothels and libraries and fighting rings.

It was on one of these occasion, a friend invited him and a few others out for a sailing trip. The trips started well, with wine flowing freely and good raucous conversation scaring seabirds off the mast. Then someone had the brilliant idea to go for a swim. Initially, everyone started horsing around and fucking off, as Thanos watched. And in a split second everything changed, and he started screaming from the sheer, blistering pain up his leg and side. He had been stung by a one of the most toxic jellyfish in the area and the venom made him hyperventilate and nearly drown. A then acquaintance, Avon Dallen, saved his life by pulling him back onto the boat and ripping the tentacles off him. Avon has matching scars on his right hand and forearm, which is rather poetic because they became very close after the incident, as during the recovery they were both treated by Georgiou doctors in Milos’ household. Thanos fell hard for Avon’s easy-going personality and friendliness, despite his recklessness and nihilism. Thanos never confessed, content to remain friends, even as he left Rollon for the capital to become a King’s Guard.

He is fluent in Sign-speak and often uses the shorthand at home, although he hasn’t shared this skill with anyone in the Andelorn.
