Stahlhiem College of Magic

Igna groaned "Damned children." She muttered as she urged the group towards Crafts District after the eager Rahvi. The Crafts district is a rather warm location, primarily due to the large amounts of ovens and furnaces on at the same time. In the district, the scent of roasted meats and fresh veggies reached Rahvi's nose.

"Oh yes, and that's what they say and the next day they catch another 8, and then another 8, and another 8 the next and soon a month later there's nothing left for me to feed myself!" Shouted the old man "Now get away from my pond or I'll crump you!" The man waved his cane and Karma hunched down to attack the aggressor, but luckily Piter intervened.

"Hey there Mr. Srum! It's...ok. I'll pay you for the fish this student caught. Just let them be and I'll compensate you for whatever they do." Said Piter, which seemed to calm down the old man. The man huffed and walked back into the fishing lodge muttering to himself.

"I can't believe this, 10 years of dedicated service and this is the respect a veteran gets these days..." muttered Srum as he closed the door behind him.

"It's fine kiddo. I've been saving for the past 50 years, plus the old guy doesn't even sell the fish he catches here for that much anyways." Said Piter "So tell me, why do you want to go fishing again? There's plenty of food back in the city of you were hungry."

"Well for one I can make money out of selling them. With that money I can buy a lute and lessons. And I'm sure I'll find something around to eat."

"Huh. Never pegged you for a musical type. No offence but you mages seem more like the 'I'm going to blow up your brain with my mind type.' " He replied. "Did you play before you came here?"

"No offence taken, and I haven't ever played the lute. One of the reasons I want to play is because of duels. Those happen at the school right?"

Walking after Rahvi and Igna, Steven decided that now was as good a time as any to practice some more advanced aspects of mind magic. Generally, the purely mental aspects of mind magic required a great deal of concentration in less experienced users; practice made detecting and interacting with other minds easier. With that in mind, Steven attempted reached out to feel the presence of the other nearby minds in the city, without trying to enter them or read any thoughts or feelings, as he followed the others. Hopefully, this would help him use mind magic with less effort and concentration.

"Sometimes. Why would a lute help? You plan of clubbing a student in the head or something?" Asks Piter

When Steven reached out to the public, he felt several minds speaking at once. It was deafening, but most of the voices were the same, muffled and weak. Two however was louder then the rest and he could hear rather clearly. They spoke a language he has never heard before. The two talked to each other, but when they noticed that someone was listening in, they stopped, and Steven could no longer feel them.

"No that would be a waste. It would be annoying to just have mages screaming throwing spells at each other. Why not have music in their?" Jagton answered

Piter thought about it what Jagton said for a bit but shrugs

"I guess you're right? I don't know how playing a song might help you win a duel but sure. Who am I to argue."

Steven was having some difficulty focusing on following Rahvi and avoiding running into things and feeling for minds and thinking about what he saw at the same time. He kept an eye on Rahvi while trying to "look" at where the other minds (oh God the mental noise) were and oh wait there's a wall in the way of walking where did Rahvi go to those people have weird sounding voices crap another wall and he still didn't see Rahvi wait there she is where did those weird sounding voice-thoughts go holy crap the minds here are loud oops ran into someone "Sorry." can't find the weird-voice minds again are they hiding? Crap if they know enough about mind (where's Rahvi damnit lost her again) magic to one: detect me just glancing around and two: hide their presence in response (just keep walking there's only one way they could have gone) it would be a bad idea to poke around in that direction there they were (why are there severed hands nailed to the wall?) so he should probably practice in a different direction and maybe send out an apology if he could figure out how and there's Rahvi again don't lose track of her this time.

The day went by rather fast for the group, as when the clock struck 5 the Void Born escorts led the students back to the College for dinner. After a fine dinner, the students then had another free period until night. The students went their separate ways, and for an hour, were left to their own accord, all except Ella. A Void Born Guard came for her once the clock struck 8 and after a short time for her to get dressed and ready, she was taken to Vulmar who was standing next to the fountain of the Knight found in the center of the city.

"Well she's all yours Witch Hunter. Bring her back at 10 you hear?" Said the Void Born.

"Very well. I shall bring her back at that time." Replied Vulmar, with a calm tone.

"Ok...I'll just be going now...good night to you Witch Hunter...I guess..." with that the Void Born left Vulmar and Ella alone. Vulmar watched as the Void born turns the corner Vulmar's calm deamenor suddenly broke as he bend Ella backwards over the fountain, placing his gloved hand on her mouth to make sure she doesn't scream, and drew a dirk which he placed at her neck, applying just enough pressure to draw a tiny drop of blood. Vulmar's eyes resembled that of Thal's when the Prince was enraged, but it was different as his eyes didn't show blind rage, but a purposeful wrath.

"Do not think for a second that I do not know what it is that you've done." Said Vulmar, just loud enough for the girl to hear, but quiet enough as to not draw attention. "I have connections everywhere and I know more about the goings on in this college then the Headmaster even knows. Now listen and listen carefully. Judgement dictates that I should end your miserable life here and now for what you have done. I had taken an oath to give my life to Church and Ulrich since my very youth, an oath that I had forsaken years ago and traded it for another, an oath that now requires me to stay my hand just this once, but listen well, should another incident like this happen again, I shall have you drawn and quartered at dawn, do you understand?"

Ella's blood boiled as the Witch Hunter held her prisoner in his grasp. She wanted to rage, spit, and deflect responsibility. But deep down she knew she deserved this. She had endangered everything this man held dear. So after a brief tensing of muscle, she relaxed and offered no resistance. She nodded with acceptance as Vulmar finished his admonition.

He released her so suddenly that she almost careened into the ground. She recovered herself quickly and then smoothed her clothes, as if the motion could somehow smooth over the Witch Hunter's ire.

"So," she tried and failed to sound casual, "what are we going to do? Maybe throw some eggs at some Verdantkin babies?" She instantly groaned inwardly at the poorly executed joke.

Vulmar glanced at Ella after her poor joke.

"We walk." He stated "It keeps the streets safe and it gives you time to think. It'll be good practice. Now here." The Witch Hunter hands Ella a dirk, the same one he had threaten her with. "A weapon to keep you safe in the night. In case you get separated from me for whatever reason. Now come. We do not have all night." Without even waiting for Ella, Vulmar began his patrol, starting with the Housing District.

She looked at the dirk with morbid fascination and a little fear. Her reverie was then broken by the sound of footsteps on the cobble as Vulmer walked away on the quieting streets. She tucked the small weapon away in a cloak she'd brought with her for the chill evening air and scampered to catch up with the Witch Hunter.

"So are these patrols kind of a pageantry thing so the school can show off their Witch Hunter, or do you run in to real trouble every once in a while. I'd just like to know, because my mouth. We'll, you know, sometimes gets away from me and turns small problems...you, know. Big."

Vulmar didn't respond as he carried on. He wanted nothing to do with the girl but the question itself seemed harmless enough.

"Exercise, but mostly habit." He said, with a neutral detachment "To your second question, not as of late no. Intruders, thieves or thugs usually forsaken their trade knowing a Witch Hunter is on the streets."

Steven decided that, since he now had some free time, now was as good a time as any to look for the library. Making sure all of his equipment was on him, he began by tieing an end of a spool of string to the entrance of the school and began walking while unraveling it, drawing a rough map in his notebook, and occasionally glancing at a compass to make sure that the hallways weren't changing direction.

While the two walked the streets, in a nearby inn Amhas waited impatiently for his guest. Luckily the Dignantary didn't need to wait much longer as he felt his blood chill, signally the arrival of a Cultist of the Blood Moon. The door to the Amhas' inn opened, and his Bladestorm walked in, but the escort had glassed over eyes, pale skin and noticeable red veins. The Bladestorm knelt down and Amhas smiled.

"You do not need to keep this charade. We are safe from prying eyes here." He said and for a moment all was quiet. The silence was cut when the sound of the Bladestorm's veins erupting open, exposing his blood to the open air. From the open veins, the Bladestorm's very blood came forth as a mess of lashing tendrils before coming together and forming into a Verdantkin, with black skin, wearing dark red crystal armor, white eyes lacking both pupil and iris.

"We have received your offerings and are now ready to serve you, as the Blood Moon dictates." Said the Cultist

"How many are here?"

"Two. In accordance to your offerings." Replied the Cultist and Amhas frowned

"You should've brought more. This city is full of powerful mages and creatures immune to your magic. Nevertheless, I brought along two full units of Bladestorm, stationed just outside the city and this inn has roughly over a score of people inside. I offer you their lives, as I offered you the first."

"Very well. Now will there be other orders?"

"Of course Cultist." Said Amhas and the dignitary holds out a list. "I want these people dead. I do not care how long it would take nor how." The cultist takes the list and after a quick run over the Cultist stands up

"Your targets have been acknowledged and will be dealt with as per your instructions." Repliedthe Cultist and with a small bow the Cultist melts down into a bloody puddle that seeps itself into the walls, leaving nothing of his arrival save for the corpse of the Bladestorm. Amhas gave a small sigh before tipping over the corpse of his loyal escort.

"Honestly he could've taken the body with him as well." He said before standing up and leaving the room.

As Steven walks through the halls the boy feels the string tug behind him. A random Goblin had gotten his hands on Steven's string and had been reeling it in as Steven walked without the boy knowing.
