Sunshine in the Night: A Poem

Darkness falls on a silver ocean,
Into it dreams fall
Like teardrops
Tormenting a still sea.
I always wished, though I never knew
I always hoped, till despair was tried and true,
That I’d be here, here now,
And with you.
I dreamed until dreams came no more,
I sighed till I had no more sighs in store,
And when I looked about, seeking for more,
I found you, like I’d always been looking for.
Clasp my hand, and hold it tight,
I cannot risk being lost again;
Swept away, back into the night.
You have brought me into the sunshine which I was seeking
You have held the cup of joy to my lips, and I am drinking,
Deeply, fully,
Like I never thought I’d drink before.
