Dolich and Vala Vespida

The twin heirs to House Vespida, Dolich and Vala, are just as private and secretive as the rest of the family. The two of them are seldom seen out in public, kept hidden away behind the walls of the vast Vespida estate. On the rare occasion that they're obligated to make an appearance (usually at the Mage-Emperor's meetings and balls,) the two are known to be polite but rather cold. They have a habit of slipping away and leaving as soon as possible, giving little chance for any of the other young heirs to get to know them. The family's secrecy has been a source of rumors for years, but nobody has quite managed to figure out exactly what they've been hiding.

The Correa Family

Lord Augusti Correa III

Knight Commander of The Order of Radiant Light
Head of House Correa

Age: 67
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 250 lbs

Sage, strict, and solemn, Lord Augusti rules over House Correa and the Order with a steely resolve. Even so, Lord Augusti has been known to show more forgiveness than the previous Knight Commanders, which rises a lot of questions for those who are beneath his command. Though he has been a worthy emissary, has his kindness allowed evil to worm its way through Evenfall, causing the Book of Night to open? Whispers abound, though Augusti's grandson does not appear to have the same soft streak, giving many in the church hope that a heftier hand will help cleanse the kingdom once more.

Mariona Correa

Youngest of House Correa

Age: 20
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 145 lbs

Though she touts the same surname, there are many who doubt her heritage for how different she is to the rest of the family. Augusti proclaims that his great grandmother was known to have auburn hair and olive skin and that Mariona inherited it all down the line, and though it was enough to silence some, still others talk. The disappearance of her parents- the same two people who Karlos calls mother and father- was stranger still, as it happened shortly after her birth. Augusti sent them away on a diplomatic mission, or so it is told, and they have not returned since.

Mariona does not let such rumors bother her and has become a frighteningly keen diplomat for House Correa. There are high chances that she will become the next Lady of the House while Karlos takes over the Order, splitting the duties of their grandfather.

Robert Fletcher

The chosen heir to house Fletcher, Robert has proven himself to be a skilled businessman and talented negotiator for his family. He has taken control of the family business at the age of just 24, and his ruthless tactics have saved the family from total bankruptcy time and time again. Despite his talents, it's still all that he can do to keep the family afloat, struggling to recover from his uncle's poor investments. Cool and calculating, he has realized that the family's only chance is to gain control of an artifact and regain even footing with the other houses. If they're not able to obtain an artifact, he'll have no choice but to marry off his cousin Roxanne to build an alliance with another family. Of course, he'll eventually have to court one of the young ladies from another house eventually, but he's trying to put that off as long as possible. He tends to get distracted and chase after any woman that catches his eye, much to the consternation of the rest of the family.

Azra'il

Age: 1033
Height: 5'9"
Weight: -----

Azra'il, born Valeria Schuyler, is a vengeful human spirit known as The Vengeance. It is said in the Book of Monsters that revenants aim to seek revenge for a cruel, unnatural, or unjust death, and will not rest until the deed is done.

In her childhood, Valeria had many gifts. She could paint, play piano, and dance, but loved being in nature and riding horses most of all. In her prime, Valeria was beautiful, charming, and clever. She married into the Deepwinter House and had three children, a son, and a set of twins, boy, and girl. Shaped by the radical politics of the family, Valeria used her gifts to manipulate situations to her favor and give her children the best of everything. She lived for the love of her family. Things changed when her elder sister and best friend, Elvira, married to the head of the house, died of poisoning, and Valeria was accused of killing her out of envy and ambition.

Sentenced to serve the holy church in a kingdom across the sea, Valeria's bitter heart was softened by the orphans. As she stayed in their home, she became close friends of the Correas, and with a woman named Maribel in particular. At some point, she fell in love with her. But things were not as they seemed in the so-called holy church. She began to experience abuse at the hands of the clergy. Too inquisitive for her own good, she discovered corruption, ritual sacrifice, and worst of all, vampires....

One of the vampires modified her memories with magic so she believed that the children were demon-possessed. Valeria set fire to the orphanage but broke when she heard their dying screams. She was locked away in the church's Sanatorium, where she died at the hands of the vampires.

The body was returned to Deepwinter Hold, where Azra'il rose. Terrified of the implications and the havoc the revenant might cause between the houses, she was locked away in the Hold. Wards were placed on every door and window, so she could never escape. A useless effort, as magic was banned not long after this. Yet Azra'il endured. The wards could no longer keep her, yet she stayed, as with the loss of magic, so, too, did she forget the reason why.

Generations passed, and she watched her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, grow, live, and die. Living on as an eternal governess, Azra'il helped to raise them up, and kept the traditions of old alive and well through her teachings. Protecting the family from the shadows, the Head of the House was her ear. Often she would leave the hold for days and be found wandering in the woods. Whispers of the woman in the woods became a local legend as hundreds of years went by. Finally, a child was born unto the family, James, who reminded her so much of her own son with an uncanny resemblance. It rekindled something old and dead in her soul.

When the Book of NIght was opened, and she came across one of its pages, it all came flooding back. The fire, the screams, the vampires, and the Correas. Azra'il stripped off the ancient dress, took up her family's sword, and left Deepwinter Hold a dead woman on a mission without any intention of coming back.
