Dark Elven Sorceress
Appearance: Fairuz has ebony black skin and stands at 5’ 10” tall. Her hair is black, with turquoise highlights and gold strands interwoven in the dark locks. It’s coarse and thick, with tight curls piling on her shoulders, the ends of her hair brushing her shoulder blades. Slender pointed ears poke gracefully through her hair, barely visible. Her eyes are a medium blue with gold flecks, her pupils surrounded by a ring of gold. Her eyes are almond-shaped, and framed by thick lashes. Her face is angular and heart-shaped, with full lips. Her teeth are very white and straight, and her cheekbones high and prominent. Eyebrows arch gracefully over her eyes, and her skin is smooth and flawless. Her figure is very slender, with just a small amount of curve. Her legs are long, and her fingers are long and slender.
Fairuz wears soft burnt umber-colored pants with a long tunic that brushes several inches above her knees, the sides split up to the hip. The tunic is a dark forest green, with soft charcoal patterning throughout, making a forest green and charcoal mottled material. The tunic has no sleeves, just covering her shoulders, and underneath it she wears a long-sleeved shirt of a matching color to her pants, with matching colored vambraces covering her forearms. A charcoal-colored belt cinches around her waist, a simple steel buckle clasping it together. On her feet she wears soft-soled boots whose color match her pants, and they extend two-thirds of the way up her calves, fitted tightly to her legs. She wears a short cloak with a large hood, of a matching mottled pattern to her tunic, closing in front with an elaborate clasp. Inlaid in the steel are many small stones, diamond, ruby, sapphire, topaz, turquoise, iolite, opal, bloodstone, rose-quartz, amethyst, garnet, peridot, apatite, agate, jade, amber, lapis lazuli, emerald, coral, jasper, fluorite, hawk’s eye quartz, tanzanite, tsavorite garnet, tourmaline, snowflake obsidian, orange zircon, howlite, smithsonite, chrysocolla, fire opal, chalcedony, ammolite, charoite, hematite, aventurine, variscite, and others. Pulls the front of her hair back with an intricate hair clip carved out of turquoise. Wears a pair of archer’s gloves made of dark brown leather, the left glove extending only over the thumb, index, and middle finger, leaving the tips of the fingers exposed, and the right hand covering only the middle three fingers.
Personality: Fairuz isn’t a woman of many words, and is rather soft-spoken. Her voice is low in tone, warm in color, and smooth in timbre, and when she speaks emotively, can sound very soothing and comforting. However, she generally speaks coldly, with a distinct lack of emotion. She doesn’t talk much, and doesn’t embellish her sentences. Says what she needs to say directly to the point, and doesn’t seem to have any interest in or care for small talk and chit-chatting. She is very graceful, and rather gentle, except when it comes to the battlefield. Because, of course, one should not be gentle with one’s enemies -- one should be ruthless. Fairuz has a weakness for children, and handles them with unending care, often coddling them more than necessary or being over-protective toward them.
Fairuz is generally cold toward others, even those she is close to rarely see her show much emotion or warmth, it’s simply who she is. She cares deeply for her friends, and has a tender fondness for nature, and seeing any creatures peacefully living their lives brings a gentle smile to her face. She seems good at hiding her emotions, but she would say oftentimes it’s not that she’s hiding them, it’s that she doesn’t feel them very much. Her emotions seem suppressed, locked somewhere deep inside of her, simply waiting to be released. But one emotion that seems able to consistently break past this barrier is anger. Fairuz isn’t easily angered, per say, but when she sees something unjust, or someone pushes her just beyond that breaking point, she snaps, and boy, is that not something you wanna be around to see.
Fairuz holds her head high, and walks with perfect posture and an unparalleled air of grace, making her every movement appear effortless and fluid. Her steps are silent, and she can scale a tree or wall remarkably fast. She is also very skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and is incredibly agile. She is laser-focused, and once she sets her mind to a task, she must complete it before thinking about anything else. She has a very one-track mind, and finds dealing with complex or spontaneous people very confusing and draining. Likes to have a set plan and stick to it. Doesn’t do a lot of things just for ‘fun’ and isn’t a very relaxed person in general. Can be rather uptight regarding moral issues, as she has a strict set of morals. Loves to eat sweets, and adores coffee. Very polite to strangers, and very cautious, Fairuz doesn’t trust easily. Once you have earned her trust, however, it is yours indefinitely. It’s just a rather long path to gaining said trust.
General Species Information:
Dark Elves are sort of the nomads of the elven culture, always traveling, and not content to settle down in one place. Skilled with archery as well as gifted with some small magic, their talents seem to always be blended, rather than one particular thing like regular elves.
Weapons:
Falcon’s Blessing: A graceful recurve bow of medium proportions, fashioned out of redwood. Carved into its surface is the motif of a flowering vine, and inlaid in the center of the small flowers are smooth circles of hawk’s eye quartz. A quarter-sized oval of hawk’s eye is set into the back of the riser, underneath the user’s thumb. The hawk’s eye stone is believed to improve vision, and heighten the ability to focus, and to protect travelers. This bow is said to have been blessed by a sacred falcon entity, revered by the dark elves. Carried with it is a quiver to hold many types of arrows, the casing made of dark brown leather and set with hawk’s eye and bloodstone.
Volcanic Fangs: A pair of short swords, blades made of obsidian from the deepest volcano in Étolieã. The hilts are made of steel, with the handles wrapped in black leather cord. Each sword has a stone set into the pommel: ruby on the left sword, iolite on the right. The ruby was chosen to protect from injury and to imbue the wielder with heightened awareness and energy, and the iolite to enhance creative thought. The blades remain continually sharp without needing attention. Fairuz sheathes them at the small of her back, and they remain hidden under her short cloak.
Ability/Power: Fairuz's innate magical talent is the ability to manipulate minerals and crystals. An earth element-oriented power, she can bend all sorts of rocks to her will. She often uses this power when traveling, or for combat purposes.
