Etoliea The Beginning...

Drakey

A shape-shifting Dragon God
CRACK!!!

A large black egg cracked open, tiny squeaks leaking through the open slivers. A small white, reptilian muzzle shoved away the loose pieces of shell. Covered in the embryonic fluids, a small white lizard tumbled out of the egg.

Stretching, the lizard revealed its full length to be about 3.5 feet. The lizard's thin tail began to swipe from side to side as its body began to cool down. Quickly, starting at the things muzzle, its scales began to go from a pure white to the darkest black. A shiver ran down the lizard's back, as though its skin had just peeled off.

Stretching its individual limbs and tail, the lizard's claws clacked against the stony, cave floor, their tapping echoing in the hollow cavern. Crawling its way out of the cavern, the lizard reached the dim light of day. The rays of shrouded light fell down among the lizard's scales, rippling off of them like water.

So...This is light...It is warm...

The lizard, whose name was N'idrien, walked forward experiencing this state of being called life.

---POV: N'idrien---

N'idrien awoke. A sudden squelch had alerted the sleeping creature of a possible enemy, and an enemy it was.

The unfamiliar creature stood at the same height as N'idrien herself, so about a whole foot in height. The strange being looked to be made of a curious gelatinous substance, with what appeared to be a spherical gem at its core.

A Slime...thought the intrigued lizard. N'idrien eventually crawled her way towards the oncoming mass. Her instinctual drive to sneak towards her prey was useless against this creature. Its slimy body could not even pick up sound. Then, N'idrien noticed something strange.

The grass that the Slime's body touched started to dissolve, leaving nothing but barren earth behind. The young lizard recoiled in a surge of primal fear.

It's gone...N'idrien thought as she swung her head towards the direction that the creature had come from. Sure enough, all the vegetation in that area had been consumed by the Slime's acidic body. N'idrien backed up, eventually reaching a small creak. However, the Slime just kept on coming.

Cold...the lizard shivered as the tip of her tail fell into the creek's ice cold waters. Then, the water around her appendage began to flow into her. Except, it wasn't water that entered N'idrien's tail, it was the essence of the water itself. N'idrien could feel it as the essences of both water and cold flowed through specialized Ley Veins in her tail.

A pulsating sensation appeared directly in the center of the lizard's gut. A new organ, a Ley Heart, had revealed itself to her, and it was connected to every part of her body. The veins spread out from this heart-like organ. They travelled to her claws, ears, eyes, mouth, and fangs. Instinctively, the floodgates opened, creating a straight path from the tip of her tail to the back of N'idrien's mouth. All of the essence that had been pooling within this part of her anatomy came rushing out in one fell swoop. Ice began to form on her breath, condensing into razor sharp icicles. The current of water flowing into her tail finally began to grow too fast. It started to foam, bringing the essence of air into N'idrien's being as well. However, unlike with the water and cold, this air remained in this strange organ of hers, condensing.

All the while, the Slime continue its approach. It was only a foot away now.

N'idrien waited, partly out of fear, but mostly because there was something, something in the core of her being that was telling her to remain still, and she did. She refused to budge even an inch as the Slime made its way, ever so slowly, to her.

Then, when the Slime was only a few inches away, she knew that it was time. N'idrien opened her jaw and a cold mist flowed forth. The air, which had been building in her gut, finally pushed itself forwards.

Wind...thought N'idrien as the five icicles that had been forming in her mouth shot towards the Slime with the force of a gale wind. The icicles neatly and cleanly cut apart the Slime. Its gem-like core rolling forwards far enough to stop against N'idrien's front-left foot.

Bending her neck, the tired lizard took the Slime's core in her mouth. It was then that N'idrien was met with another surprise. Much like with the water, the core also broke up into its respective essences. She could feel it as power, control, corrosion, and absorption made their way into her Ley Heart. Her inner Ley Lines began to close as well. Then, suddenly, a great wave of pain hit her, N'idrien's back arched, her legs splayed, as great waves of mind-breaking pain racked her body. N'idrien soon passed out from the torture, unconsciously leaving her tail in the water.

---POV: N'idrien---

It was dark and cold, but not quiet. Not quiet at all. There were screams, deafening crashes, and blood-curdling howls of pain. Snaps and pops abounding amid N'idrien's ears.

Thud...Thud...Thud...

The footsteps kept approaching. She could not remember who they belonged to, but N'idrien knew that those footsteps were to be feared.

She ran, trying to escape from this sound that surely meant a fate worse than death. But, they followed, getting ever closer.

N'idrien screamed...

Her eyes then opened, drinking in the calm light of day.
