The Chronicled World

"No no!" came Hysura's quick reply "I'm afraid you misunderstand. With these orcs, an outside force killing someone like slaugh would be an outrage. Their would be revolts if even they thought Rawl's cabinet hired a non Gundrish to do it! Slaugh is a public figure, and his death, however secret you are, would not pass quietly."

Hysura continued "But we need him out of the way, Discredited or otherwise. If he dies, it must look like an accident." She took on a more hushed tone "I bet a lot on this alliance, and the orcs who do know seem to think of you as mystical in power."

"If you can find something to embarrass or discredit him, good. Otherwise, you know what to do; It must appear to be an accident."

“Hmm...” Kilj leans back in her seat, short fingers stapling together as she thought. Ideas ran through her head a mile a minute, all focused around the task at hand. It wouldn’t be too hard to do, considering the fact that this Orc was most likely not used to having his life be at risk, and Kilj had spent most of her life constantly thinking along these lines.

However, she would need information. “Everyone has dirty little secrets they want others to never know of. Tell me, what do you orcs consider taboo? And is this Slaugh known for any sort of hobby or sport, such as hunting? I’m afraid my network only goes to far as to be aware of this formerly minor figure.”

Of course, she was hoping for something that would allow her soldiers to do their work. Leaving the Orc around left loose ends, even if discredited.

However, she would be lying if the thought of her scientists getting their hands on a live Orc without violating the treaty didn’t excite her a little. The potential of such a large body...

Hysura thought for a moment. "Adultery is a good one... Murder is a bit tricky, if done in a cowardly fashion, y'know, poison or in the sleep, that's pretty 'taboo'!" Hysura giggled morbidly at this. She has some experience contemplating this, it seems. "Khaj demands blood for blood, His church may not be proven weak in his name; Our place is not to be 'pushovers' if you may."

Kilj asked about hobbies and potential weaknesses in his routine. "I would not be surprised if Slaugh has many hobbies that artificially inflate his ego. I don't peg him for partaking in any magical sports, but he is known to lead public hunts and feasts. During which he commits most of his propaganda, of course. He hasn't stayed in the palace since the strikes, But we suspect a merchant named Korboh has been given him board. It's doubtful he would stay in a workers house, considering his 'quarters' in Zogdire hoard, where he lives."

Hysura then gives more mundane information, recent sitings and more details on finding him, if at all necessary.

The ground shook and the familiar quaking of the earth signified that their enemy was now coming. Jozeline draws her axe and cries to the army. "Defensive formation! Riders prepare to move out!" She orders and through the chain of command, the Men-At-Arms immediately began to form their lines. The Knights waited for the right time to charge and the war beasts were in place for the first wave. Jozeline stands on a hillside overlooking the battlefield with several attendants with large warhorns, as well as the Inquisitor, who is accompanied by a little over a thousand of the church's warriors.

"Well you wished for a battle, Now you have one. Let's see if you are capable of leading this crusade." Said the Inquisitor and Jozeline pretends not to notice.

"Archers loose!" She orders and one of the attendants blow their warhorns signaling for an archer volley. The slaves were ordered by their slave drivers to knock their arrows and loose into the hive, firing off thousands of arrows with their longbows at the most front Hive warriors and flying units in a massive volley. "War Beasts!" She orders and another attendent blows their horn, sounding a different note. Soon after and a third of the Protoceratops and Kentrosaurus were released on a suicide mission to disrupt the enemy charge.

“Hmm... Then I suppose one of these hunting trips would be best. It would be such an unfortunate accident when a wild beast tears through all but one of his retinue.” Kilj states, her mind already beginning to plan. Her scientists had been working on the creation of monsters similar to the one that Greenslash had developed, albeit smaller and easier to control.

“If this is acceptable, we will set about preparations immediately. If not... This merchant most likely has many serving girls. Some extra strong drink may be able to get him to do something he will regret.” She says, awaiting the Siren’s response.

As the Hive swarmed forward, their bodies a sea of pale chitin interspersed with dark flesh, they let loose a braying howl as the arekws raised down from the sky. Most were ineffective, yet the sheer quantity of the arrows ensured that many Skitterers fell prey to well placed shots, screeching in pain as they were forced to stop and were trampled by their comrades as the somewhat depleted charge continued.

When the small number of Protoceratops and Kentrosaurus met the oncoming tide, they were simply absorbed by the wave of skitterers, the Queens near the back directing the majority of the tide around where the animals fought with the far more numerous and larger insects, screeching and roaring as they bit, flawed and lashed. Despite this, the charge was barely hindered.

A mere twenty metres from the line was when the Juggernaughts began to sprint, the multi-eyes behemoths closing their two shield arms together and charging forward, trampling all in their way as they built up enough momentum to crash into the line of soldiers that had formed. Behind them, Centaurs lowered their arm lances and readied to spear through the disorganised troops.

With the war beasts now dead, Jozeline orders another vollet of arrows to hail down. On the insects flanks, a third of her Knights and Yeomen circles around to position themselves against the Hive's warriors. With the insects closing in, Jozeline gives the order to brace for the impact.

With the south secure, Decius the King orders several traders to the nations in the east, their still flesh and bone dwarven cousins, to obtain the near lost mineral known as Mithril. If they are going to fight this war on two fronts, the Forged Born will need good metal and strong equipment.
