Chronicles of The Omniverse Archived The Core Systems: Ostra - Wielden Colony

“By the way, m’name’s Didi!” The chorda called out before the spell was cast. Regardless of the turnout of this sparring she didn’t want any hard feelings - but she knew for a fact at this point Mizumi was going to be accepted for the expedition. Her power was incredible! Pulling her arms back and standing high on hind legs, Didi let out a battle cry before slamming forward right as the beam hit her. A heat resistance spell cast on her arms meant she wasn’t vaporised by the spell, but even her immense weight in the multiple tonnes wasn’t quite enough to withstand the beam. It blasted her away, charring her feathers all the way off in places. In a desperate manoeuvre, she batted her wings sideways, pushing her out of the beam briefly. Long enough at least for her to erect a defensive managlass wall.

“Uh oh.” As soon as trouble formed for Mizumi, Kyo isolated her into a sphere of ceramic, which he began layering with multiple defensive reinforcements. Asmodeus summoned a cloud of thin smoke inside the sphere to see inside. “What’s goin on in there Mod?” Kyo asked worriedly. “Nothing good, but I can’t tell exactly.” The gremlin replied.

Mizumi aimed the beam slowly over to where the managlass barrier was. Didi could see mizumis lips move but her voice was completely drowned out by the ungodly screech from the spell. As the beam hit the managlass barrier it acted almost like a mirror forcing the beam to reflect into a different direction but for how long will that hold... Luckily for the giant Chorda it was time for Mizumi to shut down the spell as she had already burned nearly 40% of her mana and going much longer might get dangerous. The circles that drove the spell vanished yet something was not right...the magna beam spell didnt stop instead it just got hotter and even more intense. within moments it was matching the overloaded beam she used to crashland titania.

Speaking of Titania...The magius engine wasn't even able to get close to Mizumi as the heat was unbearable and eventually she got kicked from the trance simulation, making her wake up back in the real world.

Inside kyos sphere in the real world things started getting dicey as temperatures rose rapidly while the gauntlet still kept changing elements until the girls entire body was now following suite and changing along with it. That is when the heat got out of control and the platinum shift itself broke completely as it melted just some precious seconds before the air inside the sphere turned to plasma.

Didi was kicked only moments after Titania, and was left confused as to the origins of the bright orange sphere in her direct vicinity. Several people worked with Kyo to help contain the potential disaster unfolding before them. The same arms that managed to tank a meteor impact were being put to use containing the breach of the Platinum Shift, as several members of the crowd helped. Even their assistance was barely enough to even briefly contain the disaster undolfding in the atrium of the hotel, as Mizumi's Platinum Shift's interaction with the Trance grew further out of control.

"Lock it down, please, get this girl outside the Trance!" Kyo's voice steadily raised as the danger grew. With the Trance completely broken for both Mizumi and Didi the danger was apparent. Mizumi was rapidly growing out of control, courtesy of the gauntlet she held, and as her body was destroyed the spirit grew in power.

inside the trance Mizumi could see Titania deperately trying to get closer to her before she seemed like glitched out like a broken hologram before disappearing. only moments later she saw Didi do the same and disappear from the simulation which was beginning to break down on her. Moving felt like swimming through thick soup while the point of origin for the magnabeam remained at the same spot when Titania disappeared. Even the animation for the beam was frozen in time as none of its smaller details moved. The sound of it stuttering before going silent and then out of nowhere the world around her just collapsed as she was greeted with a blue screen of death then kicked out from the simulation herself...

Waking up from her trance Mizumi found herself in a spehere filled with smoke and plasma. it was hot....unbearably hot as if she had been swimming in lava. Her finally returning to the real world and out of trance seemed to have another effect on the remaining spells from the platinum shift that kept the angry spirits sealed away. With no physical vessel to cling to they stuck to Mizumis soul instead as the next best thing.

outside they could see the sphere getting even hotter as it went from orange to white and cracking in several places. When it seemed like it would blow up the thing stopped heating up while excess plasma burst out the several cracks, releasing the pressure from inside and letting the one stuck in there cool down.

"Shit, take her outside." Kyo, with the help of some others, levitated the big orb containing Mizumi straight at a wall. Just before they reached the wall a portal was opened up that went to the other side of said wall; getting Mizumi out of the hotel. Once the danger was eliminated the tryouts could continue inside, and Kyo opened up a few holes as vents for the heat to disperse somewhat. "Good lord, kiddo, your power's no joke!" Kyo complimented happily. From here all he knew he could do was let the rest play out - Mod was giving him a play-by-play of what was going on inside the containment sphere, and as it happened Titania was lead outside to offer any help she could.

As soon as Mizumi was transported out Titania jumped though the same portal and landed heavily right besides the orb. When Kyo came up and spoke Titania listened to his compliment while tracing down a rather intricate ricle spell. Seemed like she didnt uave one like this in her database so she was writing one up from. Scratch. "Invoke." the spell acticated when she said the magic word. Tensing up even as a magius engine she had troubles keeping up with it. "The trance... It disrupted her mental connection to the platinum shift. It raised a flag thinking master was dead and began to shut down but as it did so something went wrong with the trance simulation and the commant to send mana into the gauntlet passed on in the real life...the gauntlet coukdnt handle the amaount of mana a dynamo has under these circumstances of nothing spending the incoming mana causing a chain reaction of self destructing spells." She went silent with her explanation as her eyes widened. She looked like she was in shock at seeing this and took some time to calculate it. "This is peculiar. My scans indicate that the spirits contained inside the platinum sheft had been freed yet they... Oh that makes sense now. Her body... Its gone and replaced by the spirits. It seems like the binding spells were set up to break down last or cling to something else and they found her soul which refused to leave this world...as she is now you can let her out now. She chouldnt be of much danger any more. "

Kyo listened intently to the explanation, also observing the orb thoughtfully and examining the spells Titania was casting all at once. "It's an archaic piece of magitech - I should have realized that." From his lower back, two mechanical hydrostatic arms emerged, pointing at the sphere. "I'm truly sorry for that." Using the arms to examine the inside of the sphere (at least what was happening magically inside it) he hummed quietly. "Hmm," As the sphere began to cool down, Kyo fed the material from it back to a floating ceramic orb above his right shoulder, unspooling it like a cocoon but keeping a platform in case Mizumi still needed to not touch the ground yet. Kyo cocked his head and pointed one of the magitechnical arms at Titania. "Should have known you weren't just an automaton familiar. A magius engine, controlling a mechanical body. Your physical makeup.." A short pause. "Part of your design is to help control the wielder of this gauntlet, isn't it?"

"Its not archaic... Its more advanced than me....and im actually the first of my kind." Titania retorted, displaying emotions of feeling hurt and a bit insulted. Because the same person that made platinum shift created uer too. "While indeed it is over 1400 years old same like me it is simoly incompatible with the current magic system and caused an error." As Titania spoke she drew out another spell. "Experimental spell #12 shield Aegis invoke" as she said that an managlass barrier appeared beneqth mizumi which would catch her too. "indeed i was creqted to full counter the Platinum shift... An military grade hyadn weapon...however this has now introduced a new variable but im sure my creator has thought of this eventuality too."

Mizumi had been put under so much stress that she had now passed out and was now out cold... Or well as cold as she could be in that fire spirit form. She still looked similar to how she did before but now she was alp made out of fire and was flaoting a couple inches off the double platform that was both left by kyo and made by Titania.

Archaic means old, not useless. Kyo was about to reply when he caught the announcement that Titania was the first of her kind. "The first ever Magius Engine?" He could tell by the sheer colossal amount of magical scripts and conditions Titania's little tablet had in it. "Wow, in the flesh.." Kyo turned away from Mizumi to look Titania over again. "Darling, more than coming on the expedition; if you'll accept you both can stay in my personal quarters." Genuine glee filled Kyo's body, he felt like he was meeting a celebrity and it was even making him act out of character. "Mizumi has passed out, let's collect her." Kyo raised an arm and moved his fingers about, bringing a harness up around Mizumi that was used to gently bring her down and closer to him and Titania. "Absolutely fascinating.." Kyo could feel the heat emanating from Mizumi's fire form as she grew close, and began to slowly leech mana from her, keeping her reserves low enough not to cause her any harm but to keep the spirits clinging to her sedated.

Titania looked at Kyo when he announced that they would be coming to the expedition but tilted her head at his mention to staying in his personal quarters. while it sounded flattering and all of that she shook her head. "While we accept coming to the expedition we do not wish for special treatment...this could create discord within the others," She explained why she refused his personal quarters, Her eyes now moving back to Titania as she disengaged the shield spell and let Kyo take her with his ceramics.

"Mana stable at 6%...avoid dropping below 5." She instructed when her scans noticed that he was leeching mana from the girl to keep her out cold just be safe for now....and a good thing he did, those elemental spirits were VERY peeved they didn't get cut loose when the platinum shift broke."I suggest high caution...i sense some instability within. the seat of power has not yet been claimed." After her last suggestion Titania cut the mana flow to her scanning spells. "If you do want to talk i am open for that, just ask."

Kyo's bright smile fell to a neutral expression. He knew he was overstepping his bounds, but it was good at least that the first ever Magius Engine (he only believed her because he could confirm her age) was still agreeing to come with him to a whole new frontier. He hummed for a moment, changing the mana drain slightly to keep Mizumi's mana at a steady 6%. "Will you be able to keep this mana drain steady? I need to get back inside for the rest of the tryouts." Kyo told Titania, already establishing a link between the master and familiar using his mechanical tails. "The harness I put on her will let her levitate, so if or when you're ready you can come back inside. Also, this is my card, you'll be able to contact me with it at any time."

As Kyo connected to Titanias and Mizumis link he could glean fragments of memories. images from the past both of them had. Mizumis was a rather shallow pond compared to the rabbits hole Titanias mind was. hundreds of thousands of archives hiding the secrets of a long forgotten past. and even Titania wouldnt notice if he decided to copy some. "Yes i can keep it at that no problems...need to charge anyways." She said and began to drain from Mizumi slowly to recharge herself and to keep mizumi at a safe and stable 6%...just above the threshold where the spirits would awaken including mizumi too. Taking the offered card Titania didn't waste much time outside after Kyo left she followed him back in just 10 minutes later.

Kyo got only tiny fragments of images flash through his mind and it took every ounce of his will to avoid looking into the cavern that was Titania’s memory. It was an exceptionally difficult task and when he managed to pry himself away even Mod was surprised by how restrained he was. “Damn, boss. That’s impressive.” The little gremlin told him quietly as he quickly strode away. “Yea yeah,” Kyo grumbled, feeling quite flustered.

By the time Titania returned it seemed many of the sparring placements were over, as most of the applicants were seated again and chatting as another ten people in a row were currently running through their own battle simulation, images of each flashing in the big cage on one side of the huge room.

Coming inside titania found a spot that didnt have too many people and disconnected from Mizumi. it looked like her situation has stabilized enough for her to ake back up. Taking the harness and leaning it upright against the wall she watched Mizumi carefully with one eye while the other was taking a look at the giant cages to see what others had for powers and fighting styles.

"Alright wake up...enough of that from you."Titania told Mizumi who awoke with a groan, feeling hot but the heat didnt hurt like before...it felt pleasant as if its supposed to be there. Raising a hand to her eyes she saw it not being o fire but being made out of fire. "What? What the hell happened?" She asked and looked down upon herself and let out a startles squeak.

"Full body fusion was not an intended function of platinum shift...and the trance broke it somehow." Titania explained while trying to calm the fiery one down.

Kyo was busy still regulating everything happening in the room, making sure it all ran smoothly. Though he noticed Mizumi and Titania returning he seemed to give them minimal attention as they had everything handled - though he knew Annie and Hinata came in with them initially so he let it down the proverbial grapevine to have the two meet the unconscious Mizumi right as she was being woken up.

When the sli'f and mechanic met up with Mizumi and Titania, they both seemed quite worried. Hinata was already running all sorts of scans on both of them, doing his own part to help in whatever minimal way he could. Annie seemed less worried - she saw the kinda punishment Mizumi could withstand and even some dumb spirits couldn't bring her down for good! She just hoped Mizumi didn't have an electric form. Either way, both of Mizumi's companions fussed over both Mizumi's flaming body and Titania's mechanical self.
