The Evrensel Conflict The Evrensel Conflict -- Chapter 2: Fire and Sand

"Awww shucks. You just want to give me a piggy-back ride!" said Neptune as she patted Vert on the head. "As for me, one sword if possible as well here. If Gearsy were here she'd want a beam sword or something, but it's just me. Though, on the off chance you can, if you can make a game that could also help to boost my powers a bit."

With that Neptune closed her eyes as she looked around, twisting about and spotting someone in the exploded dune. "Guys, there's someone in that dune Norman just shot. I don't like the looks of them. We should get moving, like, now. Before his friends come."

---

"I'd say shock and energy drain." said Alistia, bending down beside Xiao again and placing her hand on her brow. "I wish I could see what was going on with her mind but that's not possible. I can try to heal her some more but, on my own in my own state, that won't be a lot."

With that she closed her eyes and started to focus on channeling the healing energies into the girl once more. Without the elements responding as well, needing to rely on succor to empower as opposed to augment, the healing was simply far more draining than it should have been for far less than it should have been.

Lera Mishnev and Leon Quinn

It seemed like Mundi was the mobile vending machine of the desert, handing out weapons and receiving orders for new ones frequently. Whatever it was Lera missed, part of her was glad she wasn't included in whatever robbed them of their weaponry, though another part of her was excited to hear a chronicling of the events, should she get a chance. Leon on the other hand, while also noting the same thing, couldn't help but wonder what else was lost? A fair few of these people knew each other from past events before ending up in this desert, along with them mentioning others separated from them due to some sort of calamity...had others perished during the ordeals of the past as well? And just how many?

Both their thought trains were interrupted as Neptune called out another stranger upon the very sand dune that 1066 Norman had just exploded with his railgun mere moments ago. Nep didn't like the looks of him, but Lera could just make out that he was a large figure indeed, imposing and mighty. A strong opponent, perhaps? Leon became more wary of his surroundings, resting his left hand upon his sword's grip when he paid the observer a glance. "He may follow us. As he's not approached, be on your guard, everyone! He may not be friendly." Leon warned, then focused his attention on following everyone else with Lera in tow.

Shao Kahn soon saw that everyone in that group was alerted to his presence, though stealth was never a specialty of his, he at least expected their ignorance to continue just a little while longer. Squinting his orange, glowing reptilian eyes at them as they continued on their own path, Shao Kahn retreated behind the remnants of the sand dune, but continued to trail the group, as he figured they were headed toward the pillar of light's location before it faded away. He didn't intend to make kombat just yet, he instead knew he had to establish some kind of infrastructure, or at least gather followers. Mighty as he may be, Shao Kahn could not fight them alone.

Something then crossed his mind: Why not join them? He may not have been as courteous as the others, but that could be explained away easily as caution on his part. They would serve their purpose for as long as he needed them to. Yes, he would rendezvous with them at their destination and begin his long con, just like he once did with Onaga many years prior.

However there was only that feeling of something being there yet that said feeling quickly grew more distant. If anybody could see that anomaly they would see just a light blue blur making a straight beeline for a certain group... a group of four the pair of twi'leks and a goddess. But the true target was the fourth a boy called Ben Tennyson. without as much as a warning only a shift in the sand drawing a line form the tardis to Ben he would suddenly feel something slam into him and shatter upon impact. Even if the anomaly was invisible he would still be able to feel it.

As soon as the anomaly disappeared Xiao back at the TARDIS twitched slightly before going limp once again and her mind returned and the surrounding desert around her collapsed only to be replaced by the lionturtle's back and an unfamiliar avatar facing her.

"Must have renamed that world at some point then... its not too far from Korriban the true Sith homeworld." said the re Twi'lek with a little smirk as she put away the lightsaber. "I always keep backups on me be it a saberstaff or a blaster you will never find me without a weapon." Xenon could feel something approach rapidly but couldn't react anywhere near fast enough to warn others as something smacked right into Ben.

"Careful," The Doctor told Alistia, as both he and Alec steadied her once she felt too drained to continue. "The time vortex will burn away her cells as quickly as you heal her. The only thing you're doing is slowing down the process more." It was bit of a she's screwed moment really, Xiao's sleeping was the only thing keeping her from literally going mad. All that time flowing through her mind, it'd fry a normal person. Luckily Xiao wasn't normal, as while she sat with Aang, those flashes of time popped in an out of her mind, causing a massive headache and pain in her side like she was having a stroke.

"Hey, are you okay?" Aang asked, moving up to her. "Whoa... That's a lot of energy coming off your spirit." He could feel it even a few feet away from her, it was like a microwave of heat. As the pain built up in Xiao's mind, both she and Aang were shifted back into the desert where Xiao could see Alec, Doctor, Alistia and Ben all together looking over her body. "Are those your friends?" Aang asked, standing up to walk around them. "Really freaky looking... I like them!" He said with a child like grin. "Xiao, if you can hear us, try and give us some sort of sign. Move a rock! You're good at that!" Alec yelled into her head, which the Doctor lightly slapped his head.

"OW!" Alec held his head in pain. "Don't shout into her ear, you'll make her go deaf!" The Doctor pointed out. When Xiao noticed Ben's missing omnitrix dial, she would feel a sudden urge for the young boy to have it back. With a wave of her hand, Ben's wrist glowed subtly as ambient noise like that of space echoed. It glowed like the time vortex did, and before Ben knew it, when the glow went away, his Omnitrix was fixed. The dial had returned. The Doctor took that as a very clear sign. "Well.... She can hear us at least." The Doctor commented, with Alec looking on in stunned amazement.

[Strife]
Taking the front of the group he walked in a light arc towards the Tardis ignoring the females quip at his stale behavior. It didn’t take long to spot the group he planned on intercepting and when he was sure they should be able to spot each other he raised a hand in a wave showing friendly intentions. “Over there, some of the people I suspect we are looking for” He stated after which he took longer strides and periodically zoomed in on them between dunes as they got closer.

There was indeed a mechanical of some sort amongst them. “we should be intercepting them just as we arrive at the crash site” The site in his map was only a few hundred meters away now only hidden from view by the sand rising and falling around them.
“Now we are to retrieve them and escort them back to the village. So, no weapons, no rash actions”
Strife turned his head to observe the group of people on horses and on foot.

[Alicia]

“Well let’s hope we can wake her up soon, this sun will drain the rest of us in no time if we don’t get some water”
Alicia stood and dusted of her clothes glad to see more people rejoin the group.
While Ben looked at Xiao with the others she stared in another direction seeing a weird metal like shape move near a dune before a cyclops head soon popped up as well. “uuh guys what is that?”
She asked with mild alarm, hoping that robot thing wasn’t part of what they had just escaped from.
Please just be a friendly traveler in weird armor dropping by to check what the fuss was about. She thought meekly and sighed with relief when it raised a hand in greetings.

"Alright! Welcome back partner~" Ben admired his Omnitrix as it returned to him in one piece. He activates the dial and scrolls through the various holograms.

"Walkatrout, Jury Rigg, Fourarms, Rath... well, I'll check all hundred-plus of these guys on the way," Ben says, "just making sure I have my full arsenal for any situation."

Athena approaches the sleeping Xiao and lifts her up effortlessly.

"I require a wide range of explanations, but perhaps returning to the village first would be required," Athena spoke, "she needs the rest, at the very least."

"We're finally returning~? We can't wait~!" Jack gleefully responds.

As Alec yelled in Xiaos ear a small pebble would hit his forehead hard enough to make him shut up. It was clear who did it as there was a pile of sand now missing next to the culprit. Xiao could hear nice and clear... a little bit too clear when the lion turtle environment disappeared to be replaced by that desert again. But this time she was even more people. "I Honestly have no clue w...mhh!" Xiao clenched her head as she pushed something out of her mind. "but man it hurts my head like hell." She chuckled upon hearing Aang's reaction of her friends. "To be fair i barely even know a quarter of the bunch."

She walked up to herself still invisible to anybody yet probably still could be felt by a few. looking down upon her own unconscious body Xiao shivered. it was so weird and somewhat seeing herself like. Gasping audibly she suddenly leaped back when Athena phased right through her to pick up the body. "i think i just saw....never mind forget it... i might loose my lunch..."

Negative Twelfth kept getting random interface actions across Xiao's connection to which the pebble to Alec's forehead rather cemented that she was still intact with that time core in there. Connection to the insane was unhealthy in the extreme for Negative Twelfth which was what formed the base of its objection to interacting with her mind. Though it didn't the least recognize the current neural pattern and it appeared to be mostly missing. Projected elsewhere perhaps? Mundi's cameras didn't record anything but as Mundi arrived with Norman and disembarked the reality anchor perturbed the data of several systems.

Mundi didn't make outward sign of notice that it walked around rather than through the invisible disturbance while stumping through the sand to Athena. In truth its collision avoidance pathed the reality anchor around rather than through Xiao. Within Mundi's reality anchor Negative Twelfth tried to leverage its earlier scan of the avatar to make contact despite the better judgement of Mundi's strategic analysis.

Negative Twelfth tried to speak to her though it made sure Alec would hear it as well, "I'll attempt to make contact, Alec. Xiao, can you hear me? Mundi's systems are tangentially aware but I don't see you on surveillance. I can't tell in your state if the neural link is working you will need to grab hold of the anchor if you can. I trust that you are lucid in there, now. Still I doubt this avatar spirit of yours can last your body against this vortex forever. Perhaps I can lend a hand holding up the infinity of time you contain."

This was mostly what drove its cheerful query to Athena, "Hi there! I'm Mundi! Are there materials that can be recycled at the settlement? I need to make weaponry! I have three bottles of water in my sled if you want one."

"This girl's life force is present, but it is acting in strange ways beyond even my comprehension," Athena adds, "it is akin to a comatose state, but there is more to it."

Athena briefly glares at Mundi, before dropping the look and returning to her usual deadpan expression. For that brief few seconds, Mundi could feel parts of its body change from metallic husk to solid rock, only to slowly change back when Athena dropped the glare.

"Reintroductions are in order, I suppose. I am known by many as Athena," she introduces. "I believe there should be some materials lying around in the village for use, depending on what you are building."

Mizelia said "While they took mine, at least it can be rebuilt. They also can't use mine if they tried, because it's missing an important component." she then added before something smacked into Ben.

"Woah!"

Ben had no time to react as the odd feeling smacked through his body. "What just-"

But now, his eyes shifted to the post-stress Xiao, his expression morphing from joy to worry and shock as he ran towards her, kneeling to take a closer look.

"What happened to the lady?"

@Raynar Saassin @Donder172 @Raffia Kiryuin @Snowtwo @etcetcetc
"Are you alright?" Mizelia asked as she walked closer to him as if she was trying to determine if he was wounded. She looked towards the direction was Ben looking towards after a moment and notices that Xiao had changed. After a moment, Mizelia started to move towards Xiao. She notices one of the others lifting her up. She approached the woman and looked for a moment at the body of Xiao. Yet, she felt something unusual, though she couldn't say what it was. After a moment, she shaked it out of her mind.
"Can I help?" Mizelia asked Athena "Ah... it might be a good idea to introduce properly. My name is Mizelia, Jedi Padawan. And you're probably not the only sensing her presence. I can sense something as well, but I am not sure if it is the same thing." Mizelia added.

Alistia focused as hard as she could on Xiao, not breaking her focus for even a second on the healing of the girl. She couldn't afford to do so. For all she knew the miniscule amount of healing she could provide was all keeping the girl alive.

"Alistia." she said, not paying attention to Athena's query beyond the most basic level. Something was up. Sure, she was familiar with healing a person and it was hardly the first time she had dealt with something time-related, but there was... something more here. She couldn't put her finger on it, likely because of the needed focus. "Alistia Mit'Leona."

Was her soul split from her body as well? Certainly possible. She had felt that before, though never both at the same time for certain and never from an outside perspective. Let alone trying to heal from said perspective. Still, something was up with Xiao and it wasn't just her body. It was like the elements themselves were... somehow different. Just a smidge... off? No. Not off. They were normal, just not normal like she'd expect. Like there were three Xiao's instead of the one body or even one body and one soul she'd expect. Her eyes snapped up for a second, squinting a bit as she looked around. Her eyes locked with Xiao's spirit form for a second, than with Aang's. She couldn't see squat. But there was something... Faint... She doubted that, had she been using her scholar, astrologan, or any other soul stone she could have even felt it. Still... She looked back at Aang's form, then Xiao's, still seeing diddly but feeling something was there. Nothing she could do about it. Even if she had Thyrus she doubted she could do little more than acknowledge the presence. Maybe her hearing, ever so slightly different than a normal Hyur's if only because of the feline shape, was picking up on some form of sound not audible? No. That didn't make sense at all. The echo? No. The echo, powerful as it was, simply didn't touch upon this sort of thing. Unless it randomly decided to show Xiao's past right now and said past held a clue as to what was going on, which she doubted insanely, it couldn't help at all.

Still, she looked back at where Xiao's spirit was, looking her firmly in the eyes with her own slightly confused ones, then Aang's once more, before her focus returned to healing. She had almost let her focus slip too much.

"Athena? What are you?" she asked simply. "A cleric? Someone whom knows the arcane?"

---

"Neptune. Nice to meet ya Athena." said Neptune with a smile as she rested her head atop of Vert's. "And this lovely steed of mine is known as Vert. Looks like we're getting all together again, but we're still short a few people. Like IF and Bellona."

"Never better," Ben responds, "I'm all in one piece, and so is my Omnitrix."

"There is little than can be done regarding contributions, although, there was a mention of a time vortex that was causing her fading life force. None of my authorities encompass time itself, or any significant aspect of it, unfortunately," Athena speaks.

"But one of mine does!" Ben adds. "once we head to the village and put her head on a pillow, I'll do what I can. I think I have just the alien to fix her up."

"What can a mortal race do in such a situation?" Athena questioned Ben.

"A mortal race with superpowers."

"Yes, yes, of course," Athena sarcastically responds, before turning to Alistia. "I am what is known as a Heretic God. While I am not a Cleric myself, Clerics & Priests have borrowed mere fractions of the power of my various names in ancient ages."

@Donder172 @Snowtwo @Raffia Kiryuin @etcetcetc

Alistia's ear seemed to twitch a bit at the name. Heretic God. She knew many whom could claim such a title. At least this one was being upfront and honest about it. Still, that could wait since, for the moment, the false gods were on her side. "Is it over there by any chance?" she asked pointing in the direction of where Xiao and Aang's spirits were. "I can sense something over there but I cannot see it."

"I sense life force there, yes. Naturally, I am capable of seeing the spirits that hold fading life force, but I cannot see these in particular. Perhaps the phenomenom is beyond the concepts either of us are familiar with, or just incompatible."

Athena chose to turn away from the area and look at Xiao in her arms."

"I definitely feel their link to the girl, though. These spirits are allies."

Lera Mishnev and Leon Quinn - Main Group, approaching Crash Site

Following suit with Strife's suggestion, neither Lera or Leon drew their weapons while approaching their destination: The TARDIS Crash Site. "All right, but only so long as you brighten up a little, Mr...what was your name?" Lera persisted in poking Strife, his matter-of-fact attitude only spurred her on. "You can't blame him, Lera. We're in an unknown world, all far from our own, with people we've had to acquaint with in order to survive, perhaps some order is needed?" Leon spoke his rationalization, his suggestion following suit with his calm tone, lightly raising an eyebrow under his helmet. "Sure, sure. I'm just saying; we don't need to be stone-faced, no?" Lera replied, gesturing generally to the group as she did, Leon's body language suggesting agreement. "Of course not, but not all of us can be as...joyous, as you, Lera." He noted, Lera seemed astonished in response, albeit exaggeratedly. "Now what's that supposed to mean, sir?!" She quizzed Leon, who laughed quietly. "Life is just something you enjoy to its fullest, is it not? Though I sense it's a lesson you've learned through a lack of reason to..." Leon then paused, waving it off as he realized he was poking too much. "Ahh, forgive me. I'm overstepping." Lera simply shrugged, patting Leon on the back as she did.

"No worries, Leon. I'd like to think we're all curious about one another's lives before all this~" She spoke, seemingly seeking to calm Leon as well, though her tone still carried it's teasing, sultry tone all the same. Their stride continuing all the while, for they would soon complete their rendezvous with the others.

"I wouldn't try it, you and Mundi would be fried instantly." The Doctor answered Twelfth, standing up to look the hologram man in the eye. "Wait, you can see him?" Alec asked, since that didn't seem possible. He had to wear the earpiece and have that installed inside his brain for it to work, how could he do see without it? "Course I can, got a keen eye for holograms, especially invisible ones..... Most of time, but--" Doc went to grab his sonic screwdriver from his suit pocket, but then remembered he didn't have it anymore. Got taken away. "..... Oh right, don't have it, uhhhhh....." He said a few seconds into his search. However, like with Ben's omnitrix, his screwdriver would appear in his hand in that same yellow glow. "Well.... convenient."

Now that he had it, he aimed the screwdriver at Mundi and turned it on. The small robot would feel a sudden surge in power, as Twelfth suddenly faded into existence. Everyone could see him now. "Increased the outward frequency of your projection, Mundi'll feel a bit weird for a couple hours while she gets used to it, but what are you?" The Doctor asked, walking around Twelfth. "You're not just some hologram, you're integral to Mundi, but how?" It was clear Mundi could operate without him, but she took orders him Twelfth like an obedient animal would. What was his role?

"Whoa! How did you do that?!" Aang asked in astonishment. He couldn't do that with his spiritual powers, how could see! Deciding on seeing if he could try something like that, he focused his mind on Athena and tried to also to give her something. His blue face went darker and he continuously did, "MMMMMMMMMMM!" He looked like he was about to pop a blood vessel. After half a minute it seemed, Aang stopped, looking dejected and exhausted. He did also try to bend the rock like Xiao did, but still nothing. "So wait, if this is happening now.... Where's my body?" This wasn't a flashback, this was something happening in the moment, and Aang didn't remember going into avatar state while in the desert. And if Xiao was a past version of him, was he connected to her body as well?

"This is really confusing." He admitted, which....... You know, fair enough, this whole thing was becoming confusing, what with time travel and universe crossing.

As Athena started perturbing Mundi's exterior another reality warper fought back keeping the internals from being damaged. Negative twelfth made a note for Mundi in Athena's new profile that the woman was a reality warper. It was usually best not to rile them though it wasn't sure why she was in this instance.

Mundi shuddered as the stoning began then Master came to defend,"Errrrggg... *resetting* Please don't attempt to warp reality anchor components, Miss Athena! My non-euclidean stellarator is volatile!"

Mundi produced a small glass dagger from the sand below to show her as it backed off a bit, "I need to make weapons to replace the ones taken! Amorphous steel requires additional alloy supplies but is much stronger than likely available weapon supplies."

"It is possible as I am here to an extent," Commented Negative Twelfth to Alec from its position superimposed on the location of the reality anchor, "as I seem to also remember a red-skinned woman that could see me."

Curious what the doctor was doing and considering him competent given the Tardis Negative twelfth skipped a frame after the adjustment was made. Its reality resolving immersion in Mundi by skipping aside it as the doctor repaired then perturbed the primary carrier of its reality anchor. After an immediate reassessment of the local reference point a few moments later the solidity made obvious the reality anchor was the limitation. How interesting. Hollow face deepening into mist inspected its mostly intact arms then tugged wrinkles out of the labcoat. Mundi's nanofabricator reacted to the sudden stability of the reality anchor by momentarily discharging. Sand immediately in front of Mundi turned to a rather large pure quartz geode.

Mundi was the first to react waving its arms with a tone bouncing as much as Mundi did, "Woah nelly! Recalibrating power supply line parameters! It's so quiet! Reality anchor induced line noise has dropped significantly!"

"Ah, how interesting!" it said turning to the Doctor, "Yes I suppose Mundi isn't built like the foundation hardware. This ONI has the barest of experience with such forces."

It turned to Mundi and stroked the top mildly displacing some dust there in the process, "It is the opposite, doctor, Mundi is integral to me. Pet keeps me anchored to this moment in time. Though pet is approaching an overlinked state for some time now. Limitations of their write-once technology, sadly, so I must ensure Mundi's intelligence cannot enter rampancy. I am a extradimensional intellect created by two universes interacting with the same trans-dimensional anomaly. Their attempts to recreate me have been particularly frustrating for them."

It looked over at the blue box, "From what I gather of your Tardis's design it is a far more advanced version of the temporal hardware installed in the foundation side. If you were to fail to save humanity for the foundation and they all died, I would use the facility to recreate humankind. They have some anomalous object that connects me to the entirety of humanity there as some outer loop. The humans attached to me on either side ensure that my mind does not degrade."

Shrugging at inevitabilities it added, "Sadly I cannot remember previous iterations. I know there were many though none on the UNSC side so far. I need more non-copied humans attached to me so I can detect and purge the effects of another hostile extra dimensional being in the foundation side corrupting my outer loop. I'm sure you know how small a fish I still am in that particular abyss, doctor."

"Whoa! How did you do that?!" Aang asked in astonishment. He couldn't do that with his spiritual powers, how could see! Deciding on seeing if he could try something like that, he focused his mind on Athena and tried to also to give her something. His blue face went darker and he continuously did, "MMMMMMMMMMM!" "I honestly don't know...am i not supposed to be able to bend like this?" Xiao asked a little confused as Aang tried and tried again yet failed even came close to popping a blood vessel but still not even a grain of sand moved. Looking at the doc search his pockets she though of something she saw him use before. a weird screwdriver thing. just imagining it and it appeared in her hand. "thats a weird thing..." She shrugged and tossed it into the sand only for the doc to pick it up once it became visible to him. "I am honestly as clueless as you with this... how do i even call you?" She asked before walking over to Aang to pat him on the back. "Im avatar Xiao." The girl introduced herself.

This thing was indeed becoming weirder by the moment. Xiao could only speculate that he was some sort of a future incarnation of her as none of the past ones matched him...

"I don't know." said Alistia, glancing back at Aang and Xiao, this time a little off on her gaze and hitting their heads instead. "I am certain one is Xiao's, but I do not know who the second is. However, the elements speak to me and tell me that they are at peace with both. Water, earth, and wind flow through both, along with a fourth element. Fire, I think. Maybe... Maybe something more. A fifth? Like a tiny speck of light or arcane succor. Xiao, mystery person, I do not know who you are or if you can even hear me, but... I promise I will not leave your side and do my best to ensure you survive."

"Ummm... Alistia?" said Neptune, jumping off of Vert for a second. "I can't help but remember that you... lost your staff. Mundi's offering to make a new one for you. I think that might be a bit important."

"I can only wield a staff formed from nature itself, in which life and the elements flow. If Mundi can make me one, that would be of great assistance."

"Great!" said Neptune with a smile before turning to Mundi. "If you can, I'd like a nice, big, two-handed sword! I'll keep the baton around for when I gotta stun some mooks, but a proper sword for cutting would be great."

"A cleric's weapon is best made by one who is attuned to the aspects of nature," Athena proclaims as she raises a great chunk of rock from the ground, before inserting her hand into the rock. The rock shattered, unveiling a dense, earthly staff, with the upper end resembling a serpent's head holding a crystal ball in its fanged maws.

The staff levitated for brief moments as runes were imprinted into its sides. It gradually floated down onto Alistia's hands.

"Euryales Sthenos. That is the name I have given this staff. Don't need to thank me. These are crafted from the uglier, darker tales that the Greeks have associated my alternate names with. I have translated some of my authorities into spells a mortal can use while holding this staff, as a bonus to any spells you know via memory."

Athena then turns to Mundi.

"I believe that any other weapons should be up to you. I was not known for metallurgy, after all. The village has farming equipment and tools that to be used for your weapon-making. The soil in the village has enough minerals to mine proper alloy prerequisites."
