The Evrensel Conflict The Evrensel Conflict -- Chapter 2: Fire and Sand

Hahli Nuva

Get over here.
She didn't remember anything after blacking out.

The sheer power of the witch's magic had tore through her skin after the Goddess Magic had been extracted from her soul. The Roman picked herself up from the ground, coughing up sand and dust. She didn't know how she got here, or who saved her from those dark forces, but one thing was for sure.

She would never be the same.

All of her life, Bellona was worshipped. Loved. Needed. War was a constant with humanity and their seemingly endless lust for battle gave her no shortage of power. Her brother, Ares, was cruel and merciless, and so she had been taught to be just like him; cold, calculating, and tactical. War was her lifeblood, her sole reason for existing. Every strike, every battlecry, every drop of blood spilled on the field gave her power.

And yet, here she was, battered, beaten, and powerless. All in the blink of an eye, her status had been revoked. Now she was just like any other mortal. The shame and fury that enveloped her heart was blinding. She wanted nothing more than to behead every foolish machine that dared stand in her way. But Ares' better half knew that was a far cry from where she lay now. For all of her bravado and arrogance, where had it gotten her? Mortals would often question why they had to pray to Bellona, when Ares was also available.

Then, it clicked. As if Zeus had revealed to her the truth. Bellona didn't need to be better than Ares. She was her own Goddess, loved and feared equally. Too long she had been in her brother's shadow and now here she was, given a chance to prove that she was more than an imitation.

Bellona took a quick breath and dug down, deep into whatever holy power she had left. She had been such a fool.

But no more. Starting now, everything changed. First, she would find that dark being and sever his head from his body to regain her powers. Then....

The wind began to pick up, blowing sand into her face and desrupting her chain of thought. Bellona wiped her self clear, but a voice she once heard rang through the air. Luckily, she wasn't too far off. Was that Neptune? The War Goddess dusted her armor off, cursing the heat. Would it have killed Apollo to pull the sun back a bit?

Finally, Bellona found poor Neptune yelling her head off. Perhaps she could use some help?

"Neptune? Is that you?" Bellona asked as she walked up to the girl.
