The Fall of Gods

I’m really sorry about the long delay; a bunch of assignments piled up at once and I ran out of time to work on this.

I’m not sure about some of the stuff in this character sheet; it might contradict your worldbuilding and some of the mechanics of magic. I can rewrite it if you’d like.

Name: Vivian Mercurial
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Race: Genasi (Water element)
Class: Magician
Kingdom: Lorwyn
Appearance:
A water Genasi of average height, with a relatively light build. Vivian has dark blue hair in a ponytail, dark blue eyes, and a pallid, slightly blue-tinted skin tone. When working she usually wears light cloth armor, steel bracers, waterskins on her back, and a belt with pouches and a dagger.
Skills:
  • Poison use
    • Knows how to apply and effectively use poisons, along with a few recipes.
    • Tends to mix poison into water when fighting. In combat, usually uses mixtures that cause pain and disorientation; poisons that don’t directly activate nerves tend to both take several minutes to have an effect and require relatively large doses for reliability. Think things like pepper spray or bullet ant venom.
    • Cultivated immunity to the specific poison she uses.
  • Water manipulation magic
    • Skilled in use of hydrokinesis for combat.
Magic:
  • Water manipulation
    • Works by extending elemental essence/soul into water and using will/mana/whatever to manipulate it
    • Easiest at close range; becomes exponentially more difficult as distance of manipulated water increases.
    • Conversion between different states of water
      • Mostly uses liquid water and ice; vapor and aerosol difficult to control.
    • Manipulation of states of water
      • Essentially telekinesis limited to water
      • Cannot currently control water that is already being influenced, such as by being in a living body.
    • Detection of water
      • Activated by conscious reaching out with elemental essence/soul
Equipment: (what does your character have on them?)
  • Waterskins
    • Worn on back like backpack
    • Contain water controlled by Vivian’s magic
    • Laced with poison
  • Poison
    • Highly concentrated paste in carefully sealed tin. Extracted from uncommon species of nettle (think of something similar to gympie-gympie).
    • Causes intense pain on contact with absorbent tissue and wounds.
    • Neurotoxin; acts by activating nerves.
  • Knives
    • Quillon dagger; ~10 in. blade.
    • Eating knife; ~6 in. blade
  • Armor
    • Steel bracers
    • Gambeson
Strengths:
  • Magical skill
    • Skill in water magic, familiarity with principles of Genasi elemental magic.
  • Combat experience
Weaknesses:
  • Low durability
    • Bad at taking hits; mostly standard fleshy humanoid.
  • Relatively poor at close-range combat
    • Reliant on using range to protect self
  • Elemental focus may create weaknesses?
    • Ex: lightning travelling through water instead of being blocked, extreme heat boiling it away, etc.
    • Water element weak to earth element.
Backstory:
  • Grew up in port city in Lorwyn. Located in an enclosed harbor at the mouth of a major river; used as a trade hub and naval base.
    • Several attacks on city due to strategic and economic importance.
  • Raised by alchemist father and dockworker mother.
    • Water magic was family tradition/job
      • Father focused his magic on water’s nature as “the universal solvent,” manipulating and emphasizing its dissolving and carrying nature to assist and control alchemical reactions.
      • Mother focused on enhancing her nature as a “being of water,” eventually acquiring a limited ability to shapeshift to and from water. Used in work for ship maintenance and city militia.
    • Trained Vivian in water magic from 6-16
      • Vivian grew interest in form manipulation and combat applications due to attacks on the city in childhood
  • Mercenary work from 16-22
    • Mostly trade escort and bodyguard work
      • Fighting postwar bandits and recent monster appearances

I approve of everything else but I think the elemental weakness of water is earth
I'll be honest, I was more thinking from a physics standpoint with some of the water magic stuff. Like, electrons moving through a liquid more easily than through the atmosphere, and evaporated water vapor being less ordered and harder to control. I'll add the earth weakness to the character sheet.

Are there any other weaknesses or strengths of water magic? How does the earth weakness work? Like, is it earth as an element absorbing or overriding water element stuff when they come into conflict?

For the earth weakness it would be like absorbing and that's also basically how it is with lightning. And the physics standpoint still works.
