Humans are born, live and die. Through this they have gained faith, and through their faith they have believed in some truths to the world. Truths of the universe.

Upon death they discover what a lie it all was. There was our world, no god, no afterlife. They were faced with a choice upon their death, accept their fate and fade out of existence, the energy of their soul powering the magic of the world, or fight it.

Many chose to stay and continue on, holding onto their bitterness and hatred for a difficult and brutish world. Many of these coalesced into a single entity, an infinite number of grasping hands. They wanted more and they wanted to take from the world that took from them, so they created recruiting tools, finding two living individuals to act as their long arm and righteous hand. The Long Arm went out and found those who held potential for them, but did not have the prerequisite sacrifice required to pay in. The Righteous Hand waited for those who could summon him and ask for power. Their symbols, a noose and a hand.

The deal was simple, they match any investment and collect all when the person died. Those who could invest more could gain more power from them. These investments, sacrifices, were offered up, and their souls were used to imbue the one who summoned him with power. They were given a single commandment for how to conduct themselves, "Do as thou wilt." and they were unleashed upon the world Clergy of the False God.
