An Endless Vendetta

In the city of Prague, Czech Republic, two very old and prominent vampire families, the upper-class Bartas and the more down-home Sokols, ruled the city together in relative peace for longer than anyone could remember. Until the day a betrayal lead to the two families and their proxies waging a war against each other. Many men and women fell to the fighting, with no one being able to remember, or no one to care, why exactly the fighting started in the first place. It had gone too far and seemed to be lasting for as long as their was still anyone to fight.

With the vendetta ravaging the city, it left the families and their allies open to attack from rivals all across the world looking to spread their influence. Invaders in the UK, Germany, Poland, came from all over to take a slice of Prague for themselves.

A Short Peace

Knowing that they wouldn't fare very well against their foreign competitors, the Bartas and the Sokols decided to form a truce and drive their common enemies out of the country. Shaky as the truce was, it was also very successful, the Prague vampire clans were able to push back their would-be usurpers and pave the way for their return to status quo.

Some even thought the peace could last even longer, finally ending the blood feud for good. Unfortunately, the truce between the families came to a bloody end during an event most dubbed The Long Night.

The Long Night

Taking advantage of a solar eclipse, the families reveled in their victory the moment the sun was fully absorbed by the moon's shadow. It didn't happen for them often, the celebrations were meant to be a sign of a new, unified Prague vampire alliance.

But, old grudges were seemingly festering just beneath the surface. With the suspicious death of a Barta heiress, apparently at the hands of a Sokol soldier, the city would erupt in chaos once again. With a largebounty on the head of the Sokol soldier, and many willing to collect, they and anyone willing to help them had to race to escape the city.

Or clear their, and their family's, name before their was no turning back.

OOC Information
The Long Night is one-part character driven, one-part murder mystery, and one-part ensemble. Heavily inspired by me returning to one of the very first tabletop games I had ever played, Vampire: The Masquerade, and a rewatching of The Warriors, the Long Night is something of a retelling of the latter set in a world similar to the former. One of the main differences, other than... vampires, is the fact that the supernatural world and normal world coexist without too much secrecy.

Families like the Bartas and the Sokols hire, marry, and associate with humans. Police forces have vampire hunting task forces for the more dangerous fanged criminals, and some vampires themselves walk the streets doing the night shifts their human colleagues with badges don't want to bother with.

In The Long Night, we'll all be playing the criminals, or anyone who needs the money, vampire or otherwise, looking to collect on the bounty, the poor immortal soul trying to get out with their life, and those in the Sokol family willing to help them, as well as the law enforcement hoping to put an end to the carnage. And if you want, anyone just caught in the middle of it all. And lastly, any members of the Bartas who seek revenge by any means necessary.

But, maybe that was the plan all along.
