The U’n
Modern History
300 years ago, U’n were torn apart by a bloody world war, the purpose of which has been forgotten. U’n history will remember these dark days as the moments leading up to extinction, were it not for The Great Mission. As the Dark War reached its deadly climax, the U’n were visited by a group of many aliens, all united by Love and Brotherhood for a deity known as the ‘All Seeing One’. This group would teach them a new religion; one of Peace, Love and Forgiveness. This religion taught the U’n how to survive in the aftermath of nearly destroying themselves; The Dark War had ended and the Powers that were had destroyed themselves.
Corporations began picking up the pieces, with the aid of the new Mord Orthodox Mission, which were planted by The Believers before leaving them to carry out the will of the All Seeing One, and giving them technology to rebuild civilization.
Soon the Avatar, the leader of the Mord Chapter of the Great Mission, took on an authoritarian role for his wisdom and guidance of the Corporations. Eventually the cities were rebuilt, and the world was united under the ownership of 99 Corporations faithful to the Mission, all obeying the Guidance of the Avatar.
In the past 20 years, FTL technology was invented on Mord, finally leaving the inner segment of the System. They anticipated this moment greatly; To finally reunite with the Great Mission, to at last join their fellow believers. They were disappointed to find absolutely nothing to indicate such an Organization ever even existed. Perplexed and questioning all they stand for, the 300 year peace on Mord is now shaky at best. “If no Great Mission remains,” says the current Avatar, “Then it is our duty to start one again.” But some question if there ever was a great mission, and what may have even happened for it to leave no trace in any history...
Physiology
full

The U’n have Grey/Black, leathery and hairless skin. Their stout torsos are wider than tall, spouting their tentacle-esque arms and thick, sturdy legs. Their opposable ‘arms’ are akin to a cephalopod’s tentacles, and fork off into three long fingers by the end. Their Legs are more terrestrial to human sensibilities, similar in appearance to the back legs of some quadrupedal mammals.
The most notable features of the U’n are there eyes, which are a milky white, and their proboscis, which replaces the mouths of most creatures forks off into two more by the end. They use this to suck the moisture and useful compound out of mushrooms they eat, and their native languages therefor are a collection of tones and rhythms rather than phonetic sound. Though the U’n have invented translators used to take U’n speech and sound out words in the chosen phonetic language.
Diet and Air
U’n require a diet rich in Selenium, Vitamin D and Iron, as provided by most molds and mushrooms. They are used to breathing high amounts of fungal spores, and their air used on ships is not usually comfortably breathable by other races.
The Mord Orthodox Mission
Government
Mord is both a Corporatocracy and a Theocracy. Individuals answer to corporations and landlords who work for said corporate entities, which act as the government. Military and conflict resolution is always left up to the Theocratic Mord Orthodox Mission, which act as the ambassador for all U’n kind to aliens and the face of their people on the political field of the galaxy. The current Avatar, the high-priest figure of the Mission, is known to non-U’n as simply ‘Cappa’, as his true name (Like all U’n) is unpronounceable by other races.
The Avatar is selected by the previous Avatar and is always male. The next avatar is always raised by the current avatar as his Apprentice, to ensure proper doctrine is passed on. If, however, the Mission Board ever feels proper doctrine has been lost, they have the right to appoint a new non-avatar Mentor or/and Apprentice, replacing the old Apprentice. If a new mentor is appointed for the next avatar, the current Avatar loses pretty much all influence.
The Avatar does not directly control laws, only religious doctrines and the interstellar navy. He is usually so revered, however, that his opinions do end up effecting law, though otherwise local law is left up to the Corporation who owns the region.
The Vice-Avatar is selected by the Avatar upon coming into power. He will be in charge of the Mission if the true Avatar is ever incapacitated or dies and the apprentice is not yet an adult. If this happens, the Vice Mentor, who may be either male or female, takes over teaching the apprentice. Finally the Ministers control various office of government and may be anyone the Avatar trusts enough to appoint. All members of the Cabinet are given traditional titles that to an outsider sound very robotic, although U’n wouldn’t very well know, not being able to casually speak other languages.

Territory
System – Mord Alpha 7: A red dwarf star near the Silver Reach nebula.
Planet – Mord Alpha 7 A (Mord): Rocky, inhabitable world far enough from the sun to have life and oceans. It is the home world of the U’n, and is very hot and wet. Fungi thrive on Mord, and it’s legendary for its fungal forests of mushrooms and molds.
Satellite – Mord Alpha 7 A b (Lur): Lur is the rocky moon of Mord. Long believed to house life for the visible clouds and atmosphere, it unfortunately is far too hostile for anything to live in. It does, however, act as a safe a plentiful place to collect Hydrogen for space travel.
Satellite – 3-Beta Shipyards: Created by the 3-Beta Organization nearly 40 years ago as the first public space-shipyard, it has become widely used by both the Mission Navy and the individual Corporations of Mord.
Planet – Mord Alpha 7 B: Visible from Mord’s surface, this rocky planets gaseous atmosphere is quite colorful and has many mundane uses.
Planet – Mord Alpha 7 C: This Gas-giant’s barren moons are often used for mining.
Stellar Object – The Ice Field: The most freguent mining sector in the system. This asteroid belt is the most widely mined, for both water and ore, by the U’n. Outside of Lur and the Ice Field, there is very little in the way of exotic resources to be found in the Mord Alpha 7 system.
Trades
Major Exports – Water, Hydrogen, misc. other gases
Major Imports – Food, exotic heavy metals, Farming Tech

Technology
Hover Technology
The U’n are accomplished in controlling the Magnetic Pulse. Their hover technology allows them to lift and propel vehicles up to the standard size and weight of a battle tank over most vegetation, although that height and weight would greatly impede speed and mobility. More often it is used to create individual speeders and small freight-barges in pedestrian use and fast jet bikes and low-floating hover tanks for military use.
Weaponry
U’n have sub-standard distance vision and throwing abilities. They rely primarily on winning melee combat in battle. When they do use guns, they use low-heat rapid fire railguns, which can usually be stopped by armor such as tanks or heavy suits. They shine and focus in melee fighting, where they use space age razor-sharp swords enhanced with Hover tech to crush or launch enemies.
Shielding
When used in conjunction with their hover tech, which acts as the crux of many inventions, the u’n have weak but usable pulse-shields, that attempt to detect enemy fire and throw it off course. These shield generators usually face one direction and are wheeled into battle in a repurposed hovertank, throwing off the accuracy of enemy fire they would otherwise prove fatal to military platoons. In the context of ships these generators are much larger and stronger, able to stop and repel asteroids when the vessel moves slowly.
FTL technology
U’n corporations have created FTL technology, which is sold all over Mord’s industrial marketplace. Their FTL drives involves many small generators built into the ship’s hull. This means non-military, unarmored vessels are much easier to disable, though pedestrians owning naval-quality escorts are not unheard of.
The U’n FTL drives, also called the Quil-Gamma Drive, after the group that originally began selling it, work similarly to the Heim Theory, thanks to the U’ns mastery over manipulation of Magnetic fields.
Mining
Mining is a huge Industry amongst the U’n, and though methods vary, the common, most efficient method utilizes superheat-beams to melt asteroids into manageable chunks of gas and ore, hot enough to burn away dust.
Nearly 98% percent of U’n pedestrian space vessels are Mining barges of varying shapes and sizes.
Navy
The Mord navy is not large and lack infrastructure to properly mass produce vessels. Most U’n ships are given to the navy by weapons corporations in Mord, and because of this nearly all vessels are unique, varying in shape and size and loadout. That said there are a few constants, illustrated by the following chart:
