The Prison World

So I made a plot while bored, and I thought it was kind of decent. Wanted to see if you guys would be interested.

In the 32nd Millennium, humanity has spread all throughout the Milky Way galaxy, dominating it and all Xenos within.

Following the discovery of FTL travel, human kind entered the galactic stage, swiftly finding themselves surrounded on all sides by varying Xenos species in a constantly fluctuating state of peace and war with neighbouring factions, armies in the millions a common sight as planets were conquered and lost within the span of mere decades.

As a species entirely new to the galactic stage, humanity was treated as nothing but a minor annoyance, or a resource node at best. This was the first mistake.

Initially inept at galactic diplomacy and what was seen as a valuable resource, Humanity found themselves trading off valuable tracts of land and large amount of resources for what they were unaware were largely out of date blueprints and data.

Despite this, if the Xenos had bothered to pay attention to the small, backwater nation, they would have noticed an alarmingly rapid increase in the level of technology there. Unfortunately, they didn’t, and it came as a shock when the first species to attack Mankind found their armies shattered, fleets stolen and worlds burning.

The Butache had been the largest faction in the galaxy, dominating nearly an entire 1/5th and eager for more. Four armed, with a powerful exoskeleton and muscular stature combined with highly honed predatory insticts, they were viewed as the closest things to real life monsters. With a recent conquest of a faction neighbouring Terra, they found themselves able to easily be able to launch an invasion of the ‘primitives’.

There are very few Butache left, and that number dwindles almost daily.

From there, the tide of Humanity swept through the galaxy, unstoppable and unrelenting. In only a millennia, the Milky Way was Man’s, and the Xenos subjugated.

Of course, this was met with anger and dissent. The once proud Xenos, as well as those who had been peaceful and wished to simply coexist independently staged numerous rebellions, all eventually crushed. In order to quell any further attempts preemptively, Penal Colonies were created.

Wild, untamed worlds or those that were inhospitable to the majority of the Galaxy’s species were designated Prison Planets. From there, any and all criminals with a sentence larger than a year were placed onto one of these planets and told to find a way to survive upon the world, or die.

This is where our story begins. You are a prisoner of the United Worlds of Humanity, and you have been designated to try your hand at surviving upon Ymir-6b, a planet reminiscent of ancient Earth, covered in swathes of jungle, desert and everything in between.

TL;DR
It's the 32nd millenium, where FTL travel is common and aliens are a known and common factor. Humanity has spread from a small, underdeveloped faction on the galactic scale to the singular faction of the milky way, defeating, integrating and oppressing the many once proud alien races.

You are a prisoner of the United Worlds of Humanity (UWH) and have been sent to Ymir-6b (the space equivalent of wild Australia), an extremely deadly and inhospitable planet, alongside a bunch of your fellow scumbags. You are to either figure out how to survive upon this entirely inhospitable planet, or die trying. No skin off the government's back.

Character mortality will be a thing. You do something stupid, you're going to die. Fortunately, since you get sent down with a bunch of other (mostly faceless) people you can make a new character and start where you left off no problem. Depending upon your character's traits (Physical, mental, etc.), you will be able to do certain things to help you survive, such as wrestle an animal (for some reason) or know more than basic survival knowledge.
