Public Status: Beloved by the world for often being the first and last line of defense from supernatural threats, as well as their training of inexperienced magic users to better control their abilities. Some fear that they will grow to become too big like The Justice League.
History: Over the years, the existence of magic was a closely guarded secret. Superstition and religious zeal making it dangerous for magic users to openly use their abilities.
That all changed when the sorcerer Felix Faust launched an attack on Metropolis in the 1960s, this event bringing magic to the public eye after Doctor Fate intervened.
A few short years and more magical threats later, Doctor Fate took it upon himself to form a team of warlocks, sorcerers, and other supernatural heroes to protect the world from men like Faust.
They called themselves the Sentinels of Magic, and for a long time they were more than enough for demons and evil warlocks. But, in time the supernatural threats they faced became more widespread and brazen.
The Sentinels expanded their membership, even working with world governments, to fight off the evil magic that threatened Earth.
This led to them opening their own academy to train younger, more inexperienced magic users in how to use their abilities and how to defend against evils like the demon Trigon.
Today, the Sentinels are the go-to force when supernatural evils attempt to take control of Earth.
