Through Mud, Blood, And Trenches

Nobody expected the war would go on this long. Oh oh boy, it sure bloody did. Beginning with the planned murder of Austria’s Archduke coming from Serbia. Austria declared war on Austria, then Germany followed. Britain and France then declared war on Germany, not aware of Serbia starting the First World War.

December 1st, 1916

PFC. Dunwik curled up in a ball, covered in the cold watery mud of the trench. Artillery shells pummeled the ground, tossing his comrades about like mere mosquitos being flicked off one’s skin. The noise of pain and screaming filled the air, as the frontline battles could be heard only 200 meters away. Shells, gunfire, screaming, planes, explosions, you’d ought to be crazy to enjoy such. Dunwik was praying he would stay alive as dirt from the shell explosions fell onto him. The shells stopped. He got up, sure of his death. The whistle was promptly blown. He was forced to climb out the trench and start running. The sky was grey from smoke, with explosions being in every direction. A whole 300 men ran to the German trench. Machinegun fire whizzed by Dunwik. Almost out of nowhere, a bullet came, and shoved itself right through his cranium, throwing blood across the area around him. He fell down on his chest, as his helmet flew off. Dead.
The war goes on.
