Biographical

Name: Tristan Sovres

Age: 24

Sex: Male

Family & Friends: Father, Mother, and two younger sisters.

Appearance:

Tristan Sovres is a tall, though somewhat non-descript man. He stands at about 6'2", with brown, well groomed hair, brown eyes, and a pair of glasses, with a relatively slender build. He's most often seen wearing what seems to be a white lab coat, with a black undershirt and pants, with brown boots. In military situations, he will also be seen wearing a white painted ballistics vest and black gloves.

Biography:

Tristan Sovres was born in Bunker Chicago, to a family that made their living as "Scrappers", people who would brave the dangers of the wilderness outside to get much needed scrap for the colony. They were good at it too, and managed to make a good living out of selling most of it and donating some when they could. Tristan was taught to do the same job, and did reasonably well at it, but he lacked the eye his father had for value, and often came back with a lot of relatively worthless piles of scrap. However, he was an opportunistic fellow, and soon found a use for all of the leftover scrap he carried back. After a few months of design, he managed to forge a small squadron of robots that would do the scrapping for him.

Some months later, he decided to take a trip to an area that was regarded by most scrappers as a dangerous, but highly profitable zone. No problem, he thought, as his robots could do all the stuff for him, and as long as he hung outside the zone in his jeep, he could get the scrap and leave if trouble started brewing. What happened next, was something he did not expect at all. He heard a voice in the distance, calling his name, having a strange charm to them that drew him near the zone. What happened next...well he's always been exceedingly tight lipped about what happened to him there. Whatever happened to him there instilled within him a severe desire to take down raiders, and to protect the bunker from all threats.

So he signed up for the military soon after. It was a bit of a rough road, but through a series of short skirmishes he managed to earn a spot in the armored divisions, and he soon started modifying his tank to be even better at taking down enemy targets. Once he heard of the operation to take down Bosho's Gang, he jumped at the opportunity, seeing it as a way to finally end the conflict, and retire back to his previous lifestyle.

Of course, such things are rarely so simple.

Mutagens in DNA?: Yes

Mutagens Active?: Yes

Technical

Grunt: 4

  • The Third Law: "Every action causes a equal and opposite reaction. How unlucky for you." Tristan has spent time heavily modifying a double-barreled shotgun. Not only is it slightly higher caliber than a standard issue shotgun, but it can also fire automatically when need be. Though the recoil can be a bit much if not accounted for. (Modified high caliber, auto-fired Shotgun)
    • Molten Shrapnel: "You would dare threaten my home?! Burn you scum!" Tristan has put to use technology that heats up the rounds and shatters them into pieces upon being fired. In short, lots of molten hot pieces of metal being thrown at the target. (Heated shrapnel rounds)
    • Recoil Dampers: "Ow my arm, better take care of that." A specialized recoil damper has been installed in the shotgun, allowing it to be fired, especially automatically, with better accuracy and stability. (Reduces recoil upon the shotgun when fired, particularly in auto-fire mode)
  • The First Law: "Objects that are at rest tend to stay at rest. Useful when beset upon by insane mutants." Using his technical expertise along with military experience, Tristan has created a powerful suit of medium armor. In particular, it comes with grappling hooks, similar to Jenive's SST that can help rappel down buildings among other uses. However, due to the weight of the armor it's slow going if he is upward bound. (Modified Medium Armor with grappling hooks and servo motors)

Grunt Equipment

  • Primary Weapon: The Third Law (Shotgun)
  • Secondary Weapon: Side SMG
  • Personal Armour: Medium (See The First Law Trait)
  • Additional Gear: None Yet

Instinct (Grunts have a natural preclusivity toward survival, as mentioned in their description. Investing points in the Grunt tree gives small but noticeable effects in this regard, which come in the form of honed instincts from years of survival or training using nothing but their two hands and wits. These are GM-assigned, based on how many points you've spent into the Grunt line.)

  • Instinct - Too Quiet: You've survived for ages on the run, sometimes alone. No equipment to help you in this cold, terrible world. So it's all about listening for trouble, or, sometimes, the lackthereof... (Character has a small chance of automatically detecting a character in stealth near them, even if they produce no sight or sound to alert the character. This applies to both hostile and friendly targets.)

Listener: 1

  • Calming Touch: "Do not worry friend, you will be fine." Curiously, the mutagens in Tristan have given him the ability to cure certain forms of mental trauma. Whether it's a fellow soldier suffering from shock or from seeing something their mind could not handle, Tristan can, on touch, help them overcome it. Even if he cannot, he can typically get some useful information from them during the attempt. (Has the ability to help others stabilize from mental effects. Even if a full recovery cannot be realized, targets will usually be able to give useful information or other things before losing mind or consciousness.)

Random Mutations

  • Cosmetic - Glowing Eyes: Tristan's eyes glow a bright orange when experiencing intense emotions

Pilot: 7

  • AEGIS: "The best offense is a good defense. And bullets" The tank has received an overhaul to it's armor, increasing it significantly. As part of the extra shell of armor are four hard-points, one on each corner, that can each hold a turret. If the turrets are needed outside the tank, it can eject them and then Tristan can grab them out of the tank. (Gives the tank four turret mounts and heavier armor than is normal for the armor class)
    • Laser Cannon: "Time for a lightshow!" Tristan has retrofitted his tank with a laser cannon. Using photons it can deal amazing damage and penetrate just about anything. Just mind that cool down period. (Gives the tank a laser cannon, capable of penetrating almost any surface but requiring a recharge period after each shot)
  • Scrappers: "My pride and joy, cute little things aren't they?" Five robots the size of RC cars from Tristan's scavenging days. They have no combat capabilities, but he has installed cameras on each of them, allowing them to scout out enemy forces. Their scavenging ability also has some use in retrieving objects in hard to reach places. (Grants the use of five small robots that can be remote controlled by Tristan or his AI systems. They have metal arms that can be used to pick up small objects)
    • Boom Bots: "Sadly, sometimes they have to die for the cause" Each Scrapper robot now has a pack of C4 that can be remote detonated at any time. While they can cause some damage in the right circumstances, this does mean Tristan will be short some robots until he gets to a machine shop. (Attaches C4 packages to all Scrappers, allowing them to be used as mobile explosives.)
  • Machine Gun Turrets: "Nothing quite like a portable hail of lead." These are four foldable turrets that, when deployed, produce a hail of bullets upon unwilling targets. It's no heavy machine gun, but it can easily lay down suppressing or cover fire for others. (Grants the use of four gun turrets, which can be attached to the tank or carried and deployed by Tristan)
  • Hacker: "Sometimes, a less direct approach is needed." Tristan is a capable hacker when he needs to be, able to connect his makeshift laptop to most computer systems to forcibly take control of them. (Has some degree of hacking skill)
  • Wrist Motion Sensor: "Psst...there's an enemy hiding in the bushes there, might want to shoot him." Tristan carries around a motion sensor that attaches around his wrist to his SST suit. This acts as a short range radar, allowing him to see even invisible enemies if the sound bounces back. (Has a wrist motion sensor, which can detect any objects that move near him.)

Vehicle

  • Vehicle Type: Tank
  • Armour Type: Medium+ (See AEGIS, slightly heavier than typical Medium armored tanks)
  • Primary Weapon: Laser Cannon
  • Secondary Armament: Machine Gun Turrets (4, see AEGIS and Machine Gun Turrets specials)
  • AI Package: Standard AI Package
  • Unique Modifications: None Yet

Faction

Faction Affiliations

  • The Old Guard: Distrusted. ("Carolyn called on you in our hour of need, and you remained with those who would have deprived us of the truth.")
  • The Coalition: Allied. ("You have proven your loyalty.")
  • U-ARM: Neutral. ("A mutation can be forgiven if you learn to serve a more righteous cause, and feel shame for what it is.")
  • Red Star: Distrusted. ("A dog of the State who gets in our way will be put down as surely as any other rabid beast.")
  • Children of Eve: Distrusted. ("Our brother is more a Child of Sodom than a Child of Eve...")

Requisitions (Requisitions are based on your relationships with NPC's in various factions. It's what a faction proverbially "owes" you for your services. New characters start with nothing in this regard and can thus ignore this. Old Characters can use these relationships with factions at any point in the story to ask for information or aid. How much the NPC interacting with you likes or dislikes you, or how much a faction trusts you, helps to determine how likely a requisition request is to succeed. This can range from learning faction secrets, to obtaining new traits for your character, to asking for help in a mission. Be warned: If you abuse the help from a relationship too much, it will evaporate away from you.)

  • Jenive Rousseau (The Coalition): In staying with her in her darkest hour, she won't forget his loyalty, and willingness to obey orders. She will likely remain his CO for a long time to come, and she likes to take care of her men.
  • Adrik Ivanov (The Coalition): Dogs loyal to the State, who follow their orders to the letter even when it risks the life of their CO or themselves, are a cut above the average man. Adrik will train and arm those in The Coalition who reflect good values--even if they don't perfectly match his cold views of the world.
  • Mouse (No Affiliation): Mouse will help anyone willing to repay him later, but he has taken a particular affection toward the squad of survivors that made it back from the Orange Fog.

Signature: Maxim, ready to die in a blaze of glory!
