Equinox Viga

Sand stood at the appointed place next to her father's seat, where an old man with hard and weather features sat patiently as the room slowly filled with people. He motioned for Sand to lean in to him so he could whisper, as he did under the watchful eye of the people.
"I wonder if they'll serve cow or duck today." The young woman glanced to his eyes and saw that he had mischievous glint to them, waiting as they always did.
"At the rate we gather into the halls today, we're bound to have duck." She grinned, hoping that she had hit upon a right response. Her father snickered once, the sound coming out from his graying beard in a single huff, sounds which Sand had long learned to distinguish. He sat back into his seat, thinking upon her words. She watched him momentarily, then looked back at the court for her own understanding.

"Help me, Sand." She heard a call from somewhere in the room and her head swiveled subtly to look for it.
