Maybe first we should talk about what Cyberpunk is.
Cyberpunk - a genre of science fiction set in a lawless subculture of an oppressive society dominated by computer technology.
Cyberpunk is just that on the surface: high-tech low-life science fiction. Ultra stylized it can be seen in Movies and Anime such as The Matrix, Blade Runner(Cyber-Noir), 12 Monkeys, Terminator, RoboCop, Dredd, Elysium, Minority Report, Total Recal, Ghost in the Shell, Fifth Element, Psyco-pass and many others. It originated in the book Neuromancer by William Gibson, and has inspired games such as Overwatch(cyber, not so punk), Dues-ex(Cyber-noir maybe) Netrunner, Nercromunda and Shadowrun. Shadowrub is those plus traditional D&D fantasy. Shape-shifting Dragon run massive mega-corporations who overpower governments, control every commodity you produce down to your children, your dna and even often your very thoughts. The world has been covered with massive cities, populated by all races who walk along cyborgs, and every surface is covered in augmented reality to make your life easier and keep you on track, why actually renovate your home when you can just buy a new A.R. skin?! A a good meal consists of vat grown meat, extruded noodles, vitamin pills and soycaf (your tasty coffee substitute). Anyways I hope that give you a better idea of what Cyberpunk is. I also want to build this world with you.
More Videos at the bottom first spoiler tag under the Resources and References tab (One is a long lore video don't bother if your just on the fence) ! I think they might be cooler, I couldn't decide which to put at the top so I just kept them in the order I found them

Shadowrun
The year is 2077. The world has not only Awakened magically -- it's wired. Cyber and bioware implants make your meat body better-than-flesh, while the wireless Matrix enhances your perceptions with hyper-real senses. Deals are made in steel and lead more often than gold or nuyen; success and failure live only a razor's edge apart. Creatures of myth and legend walk the streets, while the arcane skills of spellslingers are in high demand. Above it all, monolithic megacorps bleed the world dry, sabotaging each other in covert cutthroat competition as they go to war over the bottom line
You're a shadowrunner, a street operative, scratching out a living on the mean sprawl streets. You may be human, elf, dwarf, ork or troll. From lethal street samurai to well-connected info brokers, spell-slinging mages or code-cracking hackers. No matter what, you're a professional --corporate pawn or "deniable asset," you get the job done.
The game will take place at the start in the Indo-Malaysian sprawl which is a loosely connected city scape centralized around Singapore, traversing from Roanapur (Trat, Thailand, (Black Lagoon)) in the north, to Jakarta in the south and Brunei in the east, some other islands(Komodo) and floating cities in between. Eventually moving further out into the Indian Ocean (Australia, Cape Town, Hong Kong) and the world when we gain enough steam. If you would like to be from this area before we get to that point message me and we will discuss what is going on in the area and the flavor ect I'm going for. If not it'll be a surprise (which I would prefer, but if your character idea is from there don't let me stop you at all.)
Intro
“Treasure Island... Welcome to paradise playa. It's not how you imagined it?” A beautiful and terrifying Indian sorceress spoke mockingly, barely a hint of an accent. Niyati Mannan known on the Shadowlands as 'Shiva', she was younger then a legend ought to be, yet from the metal on metal sound her gold bangles made struck what otherwise look to be seamless chocolate skin you could guess she'd had some limbs replaced – and well. That took money and so did all the gold she was wearing, what took respect was keeping a over hundred criminals in line. She and you stand on the deck of a massive barge, a garbage barge in-fact, the garbage was organized into massive piles (food was disposed of) that towered over a 9' troll you'd seen on the way in, labyrinthine paths weaved roads through the piles of metal, plastic, rubber and circuitry -opening up to the odd barbecue pit or ball court. There were structures too - in varying senses of the word – some were had been makeshift shacks and forts of child like ingenuity to the great masses of satellite dishes and cables – homes or workstations of the deckers and technomancers that blinded they eyes in the sky and kept this place off Horizon maps (absorbed Google in 2040).
“Not you idyllic vacation cruise in the India Ocean – but for now home sweet home. For some of you low-lifes – and I do mean that in the most endearing way possible - this might be a move up in the world, for others I can tell that's not the case... Whether your right at home here or looking to get away as soon as possible I don't care – this ain't no hidden hippie commune – you pull your weight here or we pull you over board. This is a haven for SINless runners not for bums, your on here you better be running the shadows or helping us do that better, if you have dependents looks like you'll be doing both. Really though this is not the worst place you can end up, we have resources, we can get you jobs, and we're not trying to rip you off. Put a smile on your face, find yourself a crew and lets make some damn money boo-boo”
Welcome to Treasure Island, a floating haven for shadowrunners in the India Ocean. It's a rare place for a shadowrunner, you can find jobs here, lay low from heat between jobs, make acquaintances (dare I say friends), buy or trade gear, and maybe even learn somethings if you aren't to stubborn. Some people make it a home, some people prefer life on the move with all their money in their own pocket, some die.
You'll start here, chose or pitch a job gather a crew and then make the run. Maybe after that you move on, maybe you don't – but wherever you go - Watch your back. Shoot straight. Conserve your ammo. And never, ever cut a deal with a Dragon.

www.fantasynamegenerators.com/ This is pretty much your one stop shop for everything.
Runner name: Runner names are what you use on ops and give to Mr./Ms. Johnson's (general name for a client to protect there identity). Your runner name is your calling card, you eat or not on this name, it carries your rep (or lack of) on the streets as well as the Shadowland(Dark web), nurture it and you may become a legend don't take it seriously and you may become outcast from the very last tier of society. Name generator to get and idea of some Runner names - http://shadowrun.itemcards.com/runners & https://donjon.bin.sh/scifi/name/#type=cyberpunk;cyberpunk=Netrunner are good
Currently in use: Shiva, Wrench, Ragnarok, Zero, Librarian, Maelstrom,
Nickname: (optional) Any nicknames or pet names they they use either between friends. Shortened forms of either there birth or runner names or maybe references to emotional or physical traits ect...
Gender: Self-explanatory
Age: The Year is 2077 if you want to include a birth year. Not mandatory
Place of birth: Here is a list of major cities (http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Cities). These are not to confine you, just to draw inspiration from if you need it, other cities are compeltly open to your creative license, city sprawls in the dark near future are also massive so don't feel like what you picture can't be going on in the location of your desire.
Base of Operations: Treasure Island (Currently while we get off the ground you can start here to keep everyone in one place. When this develops into something bigger we'll be able to have multiple - maybe you can start your own Shadowrunner layer for yourself or your crew)
Race: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Ork & Troll are the common races of the Sixth world and collectively referred to as Metahumanity (If you'd like a different race just ask! ). The Goblinoid races oven suffer brutal systematic oppression and are looked down on by most, Goblinoid metal and rap invades often suburbia. Most elves are considered snobbish, often living in there own communities whether at the top of social standing as actors and corporate executives or in hippie communes in nature reserves they often seem separate from the lower races -speaking there musical language of Sperethiel which even translation machines cannot decipher. Height: Check race first if applicable (http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Metahumanity)
Weight: Check race first if applicable (http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Metahumanity)
Social Class: This is the social standing you were born into, in 99.8% of cases you are now all SINless, exiled from society – that is why you run the shadows, either your SIN(System Identification Number) was marked criminal, you were blacklisted, debt built to the point you were a wage slave or you were born outside society in the ghettos or with the hidden hippie communists enclaves – either way if you had a SIN it has more likely been burnt clearing your rental scans, DNA reserves and bank accounts from corporate knowledge.
Example Social classes are
Archtype / Specialty: This is basically what is your position on the team? Now on the video games the archtypes are
Street Samurai
Decker
Shaman
Mage
Rigger
Adept
but here is why role-play's is better. Cause you're not confined to that - feel free to get creative. Are you a street shaman? Tribal, gang or even corporate? Street Samurai is a vast class from cyber-eyed sniper, ninja or hulking armored plated trolls that might as well be bipedal tanks. Riggers can pilot anything a few remotely controlled killing drones, prized robots, personal mech suites and vehicles. Get creative, draw from fiction or history and give me your character concept in a couple words, no more then a sentence. “Charming Street Shaman” “Technomancer who mixes decking and magic” ect...
Totem(Shaman only): http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Totem
Description: you can break this down into sections if you want or just give a block of text. This is for your other writers and me to be able to look at and pull cannon things to describe about your character without feeling like they are going against your wishes. If you have cyberware, gang or tribal tattoos ect maybe a separate section for those are called for, maybe a section for clothing if you have a identifying outfit. Gear is also important Deckers pride themselves in having the newest, most customized Cyberdecks they can afford, scavenge or steal, Samurai pride themselves in their cannons, swords and machine pistols, Shaman in there totems and talismans, Riggers with their robots, gadgets and vehicles, Mages with thier spell books, wands, and staves, Physical-adepts there bodies
Avatar (Optional): If you are a Decker or you spend time in the Matrix you have an Avatar that represents you yet hides your real identity while you travel the cyber space. Often tied to you Runner name, maybe Shadowrunner Shen-long, takes the form of the Dragon from the ancient Dragonball show, while Decker Bon-Bon appears as a floating pair of sweets.
Astral-Aspect (Optional): Shaman, Mages and some Physical adepts can throw their spirit from there body, often tied to their powers they can travel vast distances, spy, fight and commune on the Astral planes. Though not as ridiculous and limitless as a Deckers online avatar they often take slightly altered forms. Some shaman appear as a translucent mix of their totem creature and there self, while the mage and adept might take the shape of ancient kings or heros.
Personality: This section is all for you. Describe your characters personality.
(I like to go through at least the first 10 of these questions usually for history and personality http://www.plus1gaming.com/2011/07/20-questions-for-deep-character-creation/)
History: Also self-explanatory
(I like to go through at least the first 10 of these questions usually for history and personality http://www.plus1gaming.com/2011/07/20-questions-for-deep-character-creation/)
Enemies: People, corps, lovers you may have angered in your travels up to this point (you can add later)
Nemisis: Everyone has fucked someone over in the Shadows or been fucked over to end up there. Conflict is interesting, give me someone I can bring back to haunt you or have you chase.
Family & Friends/Contacts: People your character cares about even if they don't have contact with anymore, maybe from there old life maybe shadows.
Bonds: Bonds are what make you a crew (maybe a dysfunctional one but that's up to you) and not just a random assortment of people, they are feelings thoughts, and a shared history that tie you together. You must have at least one bond, you can have as many as you want, for most cases you should ask the other player if the bond is ok but there is no need to fully flesh it out, let it happen in game play. Maybe you both have a different side or memory of the situation. If you have an idea for bonds that you want to roleplay on your character but don't know who to pair them with throw them in blank and we'll try to match you up with someone!
Example bonds, fill in the blanks or create your own

Example Social classes are
- Corporate - You were born owned by one of the Megacorps, whether your guardian was a member, or you were sold into it by your parent, the cut throat Corporate ladder was your life from a young age. Maybe you were a Scientist in R&D divisions on the cutting edge of technology, maybe one of the Renraku hit samurai known for slicing up the competition. Not a bad background for a Shadowrunner, you know how Corps work, and you know that the Nuyen(dollar) is god.
- Gang – You were born to one of the gangs, big leauge Yakuza or Mafia, maybe a rich made-man with a SIN and a no-show job maybe a low-level trigger boy disposable destined to spend most of his life in a dark cell in one of the prison computing projects or labour camps. Either way, you know how the underworld works, the etiquette and finesse it takes to not only survive in the underworld but trive.
- Security – Whether stopping decent in the streets, guarding businessmen, protecting key datavaults or securing resources from a foreign power at the end of an assault rifle, you were born to protect and seize, wheter the physical realm, the awakened one or in the Matrix you were sepcialized to take things from others and keep things for yourself.
- Shadowrunner - Born SINLESS, your parents were Shadowruuner, maybe famous ones, most likely not. Maybe they ran away from the life of a wage slave together, maybe they met in the shadows, maybe they stole you from a vat in a lab. Whatever happened you were born on the run, you have longstandig contacts in person and across the Shadowland(The dark web)... Most are probably dead or hard to contact but that's the nature of the game and you're a lifer.
- Socialite – Famous Actor, better than life streamer(People pay to experience you living your life through your senses because theirs are shit), mainstream musician or offspring of the corporate elite, you most likely represent genetic perfection. A designer baby, what you lack in knowledge of the street or what a hard days work is like you make up for it with superhuman strength, intelligence, appearance most of all class.
- Street – You were probably born SINLESS, if not you were a wageslave, you lived on the streets or in the coffin rooms of one of the many massive public housing units. Maybe you joined a street gang hustling for yourself, family or community in anyway you could obtain enough Nuyen to buy a bowl of extruded noodles from the local vending machine. Anyway you cut it life was hard, and you worked your ass off everyday to survive, running the shadows is probably a step up in life for most of the people born forgotten, pushed to the alleys and back streets beside the towering neon corp building of decadent elite, your whole life you could probably see wealth but you couldn't have been farther from it.
- Communist/Anarchist – Born SINLESS you lived outside of society in a commune, from hiding in one of the rare nature reserves or barrens untouched by capitalist progress with friends and family or part of a militant rebel group that seized a small chunk of land to call there own. These places raise strong ideals but are not all utopian, the Megacorp's don't make life easy for those who don't tow the line, even less so for those who cause dissent.
- Academic - Through ether corp loan, being born to wealth, the collective effort of a wage-slave family, the slim chance of recognized brilliance in the regular 'school' system, or some twist of fate you have received and actual education. specialized training is one thing but learning about subjects not spesificly proven to increase production in your preordained position, well not many receive this luxury. Intelligence will serve you well everywhere, stay sharp runner, but don't think too long.
Archtype / Specialty: This is basically what is your position on the team? Now on the video games the archtypes are
Street Samurai
A street samurai (also street sam, sammie, or razor boy/girl) is an archetypal shadowrunner who specializes in physical combat. They are often heavily augmented with cyberware and/or bioware to enhance their combat prowess and carry a variety of weapons to deal with any threat their groups encounter. They often adopt codes of honor, from simply not killing bystanders to more complex codes like bushido, as a way of holding on to the humanity that they are gradually exchanging for cyberware or bioware.

A Decker is a person which has acquired a datajack and learned to directly interface with a cyberdeck to access the 3D virtual-reality of the Matrix. They are skilled at computer programming and traveling the data streams of the telecommunications grid. They use programs to search for important files, control remote computer systems, and tap phone calls. They can also use attack programs to clash with other deckers or crash IC (intrusion countermeasures nicknamed ICE).

Shamans are awaken practitioners of magic who are traditionally more attuned with nature and practice Shamanic Magic. Their magic comes from a great totem spirit that guides their life path. Shamanistic relationships allow them to summon spirits and command them to do their bidding, thus having access to skills others cannot master.

-Add an "Totem" & "Astral-Aspect" to your character sheet
Mages (or Hermeticans) are awaken practitioners of magic who believe in hermetic magic. Hermetic magic is a "logical" approach to magic in which the magician studies theories of the nature of magic and how to harness it as an individual. It is one part chemistry, one part philosophy, one part mathematics, and yet none of them at the same time.

Riggers are people who use datajacks to jump in to machines and control them with their mind. While jumped in they feel like they are the machine, using the vehicle or drone's sensors to replace their own. This allows the rigger to control the machine at Matrix speeds and with greater precision. The downside is if the machine takes damage the rigger will have to deal with dangerous levels of biofeedback. Likewise the rigger may have to engage in cybercombat with other hackers that are attempting to hijack their devices.
Adepts use their magic in a radically different way than other Awakened, by channeling magic through their bodies and minds; they do not cast spells or conjure spirits, nor do they typically have access to astral space. Instead, adepts develop powers that improve their physical and mental abilities.
