The capitol of the Adrestian Empire was weary, and for good reason. With the last five years spent plunged into war, peace had only just recently arrived to the now-unified continent of Fodlan. Emperor Edelgard von Hresvelg had accomplished what she'd set out to do, and had been hard at work with her council on reconstruction efforts in order to fully establish peace in the new Empire.

But one day, out of nowhere, everything had changed. It was as if someone had snapped their fingers and turned Enbarr upside down. Citizens were missing, replaced by strangers. The once familiar city was now surrounded by strange forests and unfamiliar cities. And on top of it all, Emperor Edelgard and her council had vanished, leaving Enbarr, still reeling from the war, now leaderless. And as if that weren't enough, a surprise assault by mechanical foes caught everyone off guard, leaving the city in chaos.

But all of that changed one fateful day, when a stranger arrived. A mountain of a man with long white hair and a suit of red armor, it was almost as if he was the Edelgard of an alternate world. This mysterious hero rallied the remaining troops and put an end to the robotic menace, and was hailed a savior to this disorganized new world. When he revealed himself an emperor of his own land, it was practically unanimous that he should take Edelgard's place until she returned. Thus, this new Enbarr struggled to find peace in this massive upset, and had done rather well...at least, up until now.

Whether or not Kassandra had been in Enbarr the entire time, or had been in a neighboring area, word spread like wildfire. Enbarr had seen a sudden string of robberies, with no idea who could be behind it. Guards were bested again and again, and it had gotten so bad that the Emperor was now hiring any and all willing to solve it, with a handsome bounty placed over the head of the leader brought in dead or alive.

And today was the day he would be meeting with these hired hands, in his throne room. Outside of the palace stood guards, on order to not let anyone in unless they stated their business. It looked like one person was speaking with them now.

@Jeremi

Kassandra of Sparta...what that even meant in this strange new world the Eagle Bearer couldn't say. In her own world, she had just destroyed the evil cult that had targeted her bloodline and through said hardship united her family when all of it was snatched away in an instant as the world around her changed.

Once she came too Kassandra had found herself outside a massive city of stone, larger than anything she had seen back home. Instead of vanishing into its labyrinth streets, however, the Eagle Bearer had chosen to stay outside in the villages she had found. One of them was called Cobblestone where a friendly woman had given her room and board for the odd job here and there. Mostly slaying monsters or gathering up some particular item. Even in this world a misthios always found work for some coin. It didn't take long for word to spread about something happening in Enbarr. The mention of a reward spurred Kassandra to action and with her gladius, bow and broken spear of Leonidas and above sored her eagle companion, Kassandra began her journey towards the massive city.

The bustling fortress city was quite overwhelming for a woman familiar only to the Greek isles but with her eagle, Ikaros, helping her Kassandra navigated the city with ease and soon found herself at the palace gates. Seeing that someone was already there she crossed her arms and waited. Perhaps it was best to give a good first impression of her to a possible employer?

As Kassandra got closer, she would see that the someone wasn't a person, but a bipedal bird that was about her size. His arms were crossed, and by the sound of his voice, he was rather displeased.

"For the last time, I have no idea what a 'Pokemon' is. I am a Rito, and quite frankly this interrogation is starting to annoy me greatly."

"Sorry, sir," one of the guards said. "We're just making sure to follow the Emperor's orders. Another of the bounty hunters has a Pokemon with her, and we need to make sure none of them enter the palace themselves."

"Mm. Tell me, does this Pokemon of hers wear clothes? Does it wield a weapon, does it know how to carry a conversation?"

"W-Well, no, but..."

"Then clearly I am not a Pokemon. Now, if you will finally let me through...maybe I won't report this degrading treatment of one of Hyrule's Champions."

The guards relented, lowering their spears to allow the Rito entry into the palace. Once he had gone through, they looked to Kassandra. "Good day," one greeted. "State your name and business with the Emperor."

@Jeremi

Kassandra had to do a double take when she saw what the being was in front of her talking to the guards. While she had seen things that had been…none human during her stay here, they usually were out to kill her and others and had no interest in talking. “Family of yours, Ikaros?” She replied under her breath to her feathered companion as Rito walked past the guards and it was her turn for the interrogation treatment.

”Kassandra of Sparta, or perhaps you know me as the Eagle-Bearer.” They probably didn’t but Kassandra always thought highly of herself and the services she provided. Surely some of her exploits had even reached Enbarr? “I am a misthios and I seek an audience with your Emperor to settle these thefts you have been dealing with, much like I assume many others that have come to your gates today.” Arms folded she waited for them to give her the okay to enter. Why wouldn’t they? They let a bird in after all.

@Yun Lee

"Eagle-Bearer? Heh, you'll fit right in here in Enbarr." The guards chuckled at what must be an inside joke with the locals here before growing serious again, "Ahem! That is well and good, miss, but we just need to make sure of one thing. Do you have any Pokemon on your person? The Emperor is deathly allergic to them, you see, and we need to ensure none are out in the palace before anyone enters."

@Jeremi

Kassandra joined in on the chuckling, though she wasn't quite sure what they were chuckling about. Best to be on their good side. To the other question, she just pointed to Ikaros. "The only animal companion I have is Ikaros." Pokemon? Was that those things that just said their own name a lot?

Kassandra had been very tempted to catch one but you evidently needed a 'Pokeball' to do that and she wasn't quite sure what one of those were. "So unless your Emperor has a thing towards birds," Kassandra asked as Ikaros screeched towards the guards. "We are good here?"

@Yun Lee

The two guards looked to each other, and nodded, before turning back to Kassandra. "Yes, everything looks to be in proper order." They lifted their spears to allow her entry into the palace. "The Emperor will be with you shortly," one said. "For the time being, you will be escorted to the meeting room with the other bounty hunters. Since that...bird man just entered, you may have to wait inside a few moments."

"Oh no, no need to wait!" A young woman said, walking to the entrance of the palace from inside.

"Our feathered friend preferred to enter alone," she said, smiling at Kassandra. "I can escort you right now, if you'd like."

@Jeremi

Well, this was easier than I thought, Kassandra thought to herself. She had expected there to have been something involved for her to actually meet the Emperor. Proof of loyalty, that's how it usually was in her line of work. Usually, it was murder, but some times it was mundane. Anyway, as a woman's voice echoed from behind the two guards.

"Yes," Kassandra flashed the mystery woman a friendly smile. "I'd very much like that."

@Yun Lee

Motioning the Eagle-Bearer to follow her, the two of them entered the Palace halls. In spite of a war that had raged in their original world for the past five years, the Imperial Palace was still beautiful, no doubt one of the first places targeted for restoration if it had been damaged by the conflict.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" The woman asked, looking around the crimson tapestries and stone columns. "I'd never imagined I'd live here, much less go inside...oh! I should introduce myself. I'm Dorothea Arnault, former member of Edie-ahem, Emperor Edelgard's Black Eagle Strike Force." She sighed. "The only one left after The Melding..."

@Jeremi

"I am Kassandra," The Eagle Bearer replied as she followed Dorothea into the castle. Hearing that she seemed to have a nickname for the former Empress implied some closeness that Kassandra didn't really care to speculate on for the time being. "And yes, the beauty in front of me is quite breathtaking. The castle isn't too bad either,"

She flashed Dorothea a friendly smile but got a rather somber look when the former member mentioned being the only one left. "I have been trying to get news about my family, but this new world is vast and information is scarce. Perhaps this task will give me the resources I need to travel further in search of them."

@Yun Lee

"Oh, and here I expected to make the first move~" Dorothea gave Kassandra a wink and a playful smile, though like her companion grew serious at the mention of friends. "This whole situation has caused so many people heartache...families have split up, and all my old classmates have gone missing. Maybe I can try to pull some strings and find something out for you? I have a couple of connections...and it's the least I can do for your help. Well, that and carrying a conversation with me. Everyone here is so...rigid."

@Jeremi

While most of the people Kassandra had met since her arrival in this world and been sympathetic to her plight. This woman, Dorothea, might be the only one with the actual resources to help Kassandra in her search. “I’d...very much like that. Perhaps if you are free later I can tell you my tale if you care to listen?”

At the mention of rigidness, Kassandra would just nod. “I have found politics to be a bore. Either they talk each other’s ears out until someone submits, or they go to war over their beliefs and one side submits. And it’s always hidden behind pleasantries and big words,” Kassandra rolled her eyes. “If I can alleviate that hanging with you then we should definitely meet later this evening for a discussion.”

@Yun Lee

"I would love that. This new emperor isn't one to talk to me about anything...and believe me, I've tried. At least he's more entertaining than the remaining nobility around here..." Dorothea smiled at Kassandra. "And you're more interesting than all of them combined. I think he wants to put you all to work tonight, but...maybe we can figure something out before then."

By now they had reached the throne room, where four others had gathered. A young woman in dark clothing leaned against a column with her arms crossed, away from the others. A large man in a nice suit paced around the room, admiring the regality within. A teenage boy was hunched over with his hands in his pockets, tapping his heel on the floor impatiently. And the bird from outside was also here, tuning his bow while he waited. "I'll get the emperor," Dorothea said. "Hopefully another of the guests can keep you entertained." And with that, she was gone, leaving Kassandra with her fellow bounty hunters for the time being.

@Jeremi

“I sure they will,” Kassandra replied as she watched Dorothea leave. Once she had left Kassandra staked out the competition. It was not like she was fishing for information or anything, but the large man in what Kassandra assumed was some sort of fancy clothes considering how they looked, seemed like he could be someone actually willing to speak with her. With Ikaros on her shoulder, she made her way towards the man.

“I imagine for an outsider that this entire city is rather magnificent,” She said walking up to him. “I know when I saw this place that I was quite awestruck.”

@Yun Lee

The large man turned to Kassandra, flashing her a toothy grin that almost looked sinister.

"They say stuff from the middle ages in mint condition sells good at auctions," he replied. "You take something from here, pass it off as being owned by Henry VIII, you're set! 'Course, I ain't stupid enough to run around stealing from a fucking emperor...but I'm wondering how the currency here's gonna sell when I collect that reward."

@Jeremi

Not awestruck in the way that Kassandra had thought...just for the profit. She wasn't even going to process the concept of a "middle age". "I do not know how well you can sell items like this in this current world. I've heard tales of things I would have never imagined existed." Though her trip to Atlantis in her own world gave her some...perspective on the matter.

"I assume the way you speak that you are from what could be my future. I am Kassandra of Sparta. It would appear that we'll be working together." Kassandra felt that there was something off about the guy, but she didn't care to be antagonistic just yet. They were supposed to be working together after all.

@Yun Lee

"Just keep it and save it for when things go back to normal," he replied with a shrug. "Otherwise, I just keep taking jobs like this. It's my specialty." He grinned, cracking his knuckles for emphasis.

"Sparta, huh? Pretty sure that place is lomg gone where I'm from. The name's Balrog. You ever hear of America? Don't think it existed yet."

"Sparta? America? Aw man, you guys are from everywhere!" The teenager walked ober to the two of you, no doubt bored of standing around.

"It's weird...with places like Enbarr and junk you'd think there'd be more...I dunno, weird places, y'know? But I keep meeting people who're from Earth."

@Jeremi

"Yes, I can tell," Kassandra replied to Balrog, her arms folded giving him another look over. Looking at his knuckles she could tell quite clearly in where his talents lied.

Then a boy with blond hair walked up to them. "To me, Greece was the world." She still didn't quite understand the scope of everything. Even when she found out about her true parentage, her world had been so small, the Melding had shown her that. She motioned over to the birdman. "Are walking talking birds normal occurrences on Earth as well?"

@Yun Lee

"No way! Well...not my Earth, at least. Can't speak for the others, though..." The boy looked over at the Rito, pursing his lips as if he had an additional thought to the whole thing. Before he could really voice it, however, Dorothea returned, only this time from the throne itself.

"Thank you all for waiting," she said. "His royal majesty, Emperor Walhart the Conqueror!" With a dramatic flair, she waved her arm to the door, where out stepped a massive man. Still dressed in his red armor, the emperor looked every bit as intimidating as rumors led to believe.

"Thank you all for coming," he said, his booming voice echoing through the throne room. "All of you shall be compensated for your time here...though one of you will receive a bonus reward upon capturing our burglar."

"So how do we catch this guy, then?" Balrog asked.

"I can explain more over dinner," Walhart replied. "Please, I invite you all to dine in my personal quarters. It is for the best we get to know each other before working together." He nodded to Dorothea, who gave a small curtsy before starting to lead you all to your destination.

@Jeremi

The Emperor was certainly a mountain of a man. Kassandra wondered what someone like had to eat to get like they did. Either way at the mention of food she'd follow Dorothea towards the designated area. "Will you be joining us for food?" Kassandra asked as she caught up to her. "Perhaps we can take that discussion earlier than anticipated?
