Overview
The Yourans are Warlike humanoids with blank white skin and silver hair that come from the Isles of Ash, an Archipelago that is littered with volcanos, sulfur pits, and ash. However, the Island is also connected by vast underground cave system, which is the true home of the Yourans.

Biology
Youran physiology is similar to humans in terms of internal structure, but differ greatly in growth. There is also a great divide in biological between Male and Female Yourans. However, general all Youran share some basic traits such as their pure white skin and being born with dark colored eyes. Also, despite living in such hospitable conditions and living to fight the Youran aren’t visibly unattractive. This is not to say they’re all stunningly beautiful, however due to the uniformity of how males are raised and the relatively few number of females the Youran are devoid of any naturally occurring facial blemishes. Due to living generations underground and in ash/sulfur infested islands some internal organs within the Youran differ great from that of humans. What’s shared between all Yourans are their third lungs and limited digestive system. Essentially the third lung acts more like an air filter within the body, allowing Yourans the breath through toxic gas. Their limited digestive systems however were caused by eating nothing but cave fungus for millennia.

Males- The men can attain heights between 8 to 10 feet, and can weigh around 300-500 pounds. Most of that weight is pure muscle, and only the strongest of the strong achieve the maximum height/weight. Male Yourans develop their bodies differently in that they don’t grow at a consistent rate. The first year of the Male development cycle occurs rapidly. In comparison to humans, a 1 year old Youran body would be physically equal to a 7-year-old human boy. After the first year, the Youran Male’s growth slows down over time and equalizes at age 10. At this point it’s safe to assume a Youran’s physical age by adding 12 to his actual age. Another thing to note is the extra organs that are in a male Youran. To compensate for a Youran’s rapid first year growth rate male Yourans are born with two hearts (located side by side from each other). However, once a male Youran reaches age 9 that extra heart is worked to death and removed as part of a ritual (more on that later).

Female- Unlike the men of the Youran the women grow at a consistent rate and don’t quite grow to be as large as their male counterparts making the females considerable slenderer. On average female Yourans can grow between a little under 6 feet to a little over 8 feet and have a weight of about 150-300 pounds. Again, most of this weight is just pure muscle. Female Youran age at roughly the same rate as humans and thus don’t have an extra heart. When Pregnant it takes about 3 months for the baby to be born (a month for each trimester).

History
The emergence of the Youran from their underground caverns has only been a somewhat recent event in New World history. No one really knows how long they’ve been down there or how far the caverns themselves extended, but it is generally agreed upon that the Youran spent most of that time, maybe all of it, waging a purging war against every other living thing in those caverns. To the astonishment of many, they succeeded. The period is known as “The War Ash and Stone” by New World scholars, and in that time the Youran managed to conquer the entire cavern system that existed under the Isles of Ash. Not long after their genocidal campaign the Youran turned their attention on the rest of the Islands, and after that the rest of the New World.

Unfortunately, Youran naval technology wasn’t sufficient enough to take the horde across a large sea. This brought forth a Kalkaton, or “preparation of war”. The Kalkaton is a very rare event only occurs when a Campaign cannot continue due to non-combative reasons, in this case being Technology. And so, in continuing the Eternal Campaign the Youran initiated a century long effort in improving the technological and magical aspects of their standing army. Despite being an extremely war centric the Youran acknowledge the importance of knowledge in and out of the battlefield. If it’s in the name of war, the Youran will have no hesitation in doing something un-warlike. In their 100-year quest for knowledge the Youran were able to attain technology that surpassed even that of the New World Humans, such as creating obsidian clad warships armed with magma Cannons. With the Youran Horde ready the resume their Campaign they sent a scouting fleet towards the Mainland.

In end their Campaign never started, at least not in the way the Youran people intended. The scouting fleet never returned, and in its stead, came the New World Tyrant himself. Rather than bring an Army to subjugate the Youran Race Issued a challenge. “Send forth your strongest warriors, and I swear to you they shall fall before me.” And that they did. One by one the strongest Yourans of every bloodline failed to even come close against the Tyrant himself. The last to face him was the Youran’s then Warmaster Doran Blackstone of the Circine Bloodline. The two clashed furiously drawing out a display that no battlefield in the New World has seen. In end however the Warmaster laid dead infront of his people. As per Youran custom the rank and soldiers under the command of that rank is to be transferred to the victor, and in the Tyrant’s case he gained control of the entire Youran Horde. His first command was issued in and instant, “Board your ships, ready your weapons, and subjugate this land in my name.” With that the eternal campaign was brought upon the New World under the new Youran Warmaster, the Tyrant (will edit out Tyrant as soon as we figure out a name for him)

Society

Social class within Youran society is dictated by 3 things- Bloodline, Gender, and Military Rank. First off, it’s important to note that in the grand scheme of things the Warmaster and Warmother have absolute authority over the Youran people. The Youran people however are divided up in family groups called “Bloodlines.” Essentially, a bloodline encompasses all the Youran that can trace back to a single, living mother. The mother is referred to as the Bloodmother, while her daughters and their daughters are referred to as the Ash mothers. The Bloodmother, along with her chosen Battlemaster, lead the entirety of the bloodline as subordinates to the Warmaster. Because of this every Youran born under that bloodline share the same last name. The Bloodmother herself is the only exception in that her name is the name of the bloodline. Also, it is important to note that the Battlemaster/Warmaster are not engaged or romantically involved with their female counterpart. They were simply deemed worthy in commanding the Bloodline Army. Romance in itself is almost nonexistent within Youran Society, and reproduction occurs for the soul purpose of supplying soldiers for the eternal campaign. Despite having the same reproductive system of that of humans, procreation is handled by extracting the reproductive liquids of a soldier from a different bloodline and instilling it within a mother. The mother chooses who her “mate” is usually based off battle merit, however it is under the discretion of the mother.

Male Social structure

Male social class is determined by their mother and military rank. The lower down a male Youran’s mother is from the Bloodmother, the lower that Youran’s Standing is. However, military rank rules above all else. Example, a grunt born from a Bloodmother has higher standing than a grunt born from an Ash mother, but a Sargent has more social standing than either grunt. In the thick of things though Males are less likely to invoke their bloodline or rank to instill superiority, and instead show it by strength. This includes every Youran at large. The division in bloodline serves mostly to organize the Yourans, as organization is a key concept to a successful army.

Boy/Amnos -> Grunt/Hoplite ->Sargent/Priarch-> Captain/Rhomarch -> Battlemaster/ Polearch ->Warmaster/ Archon

Youran Males begin military training at the age 1, which is the physical equivalent to an 8 year-old human boy. For the next 8 years, the boy goes into intensive training to become a Hoplite(Grunt). What they learn ranges to many skills, from weapon training to basic food handling, to even rudimentary magic. If it has relevance to war, it has relevance to Youran Education. This doesn’t bar Youran youths from active duty however. By age 4(15 in human years) Youran Boys are sent to the legion and are given non-combative tasks such as setting up camp, scouting, tending to fungus farms, etc. By age 5, they become fit for battle and gain the rank of Hoplite. When a Youran boy reaches the last year of training at age 9, they go though what they call the "Kalima," or other words Rite of Heart removal. The Male's Mother, through the use of magic and brute strength, rips out the 2nd heart of her son and welcomes him into the bloodline as a fully grown man. To achieve a greater rank at this point, the Youran Male has two outlets. The first, and most common and most unsucessful among all Yourans, is trial by Combat. However this can only occur between a subordinate and the immediate rank above him. So a hoplite cannot challenge a Warmaster without going through every rank before Warmaster. The is being choosen by a mother. If a Youran's ash mother or blood mother deems him worthy of promotion, he is put into temporary office training that is befitting of the rank.
