Appearance:
"If it's to save the lives of others... I'll do anything it takes."
Name:
Aliceviel Von Einzbern
(Often prefers to be called "Alice")
Age:
20
(This is just her physical age. As a Grand Servant, she does not age under normal circumstances. Thus, she almost always appears at an age commonly considered to be the 'prime' of her life.
Canon:
OC
(Alice's backstory and general powers are inspired by the Fate series, but consider her place of origin an alternate version of Fuyuki, with its own set of events, and a special kind of 'holy grail war'.)
Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
- Wires & Wire Constructs; Using fibers constructed from her hair, interwoven with her innate magic, she is capable of weaving them into constructs. Most of the time, she defaults to basic, easy to replicate forms, such as large swords, or avian
familiars, both which were inherited from the Einzbern family. However, as she was raised differently than most
Einzbern homonculi, and had been gestated within a mother, her magic was geared more towards combat than healing, and as such, the former took priority. In theory, and in practice, Alice can, and during moments of need, will create more complex constructs, such as artillery pieces, firearms, and rideable familiars. However, the more complex and powerful the construct, the more it takes a toll on her
mana reserves, and by extension, strains her
magic circuits. These constructs, along with the wires on their own can be overloaded with mana to cause them to detonate, a technique she will often use to deal decisive blows to her opponents. These wires can also just be used on their own as a way to snare her opponents, and form crude whipping weapons, the former being her preferred choice due to its non-lethal nature.
-
Projection Magic; Though it is often seen as inferior to
reinforcement magic due to what is often seen as diminishing returns when it comes to the cost vs the end product, it is Alice's preferred form of magic, although she typically uses a simplified version of it. Acting akin to 'trace' magic, something typically achieved through the possession of
Unlimited Bladeworks, it is instead a bi-product of something her father awoke within her long ago. This form of projection magic allows her wire constructs to function more identically to whatever they were intended to mimic, whether they are weapons, familiars, or something else entirely. However, even though she conserves mana through its simplified form, complex constructs still ultimately take their toll on her.
-
Reality Marble (Paradise, based off of Alice's 'creation' origin); Though Alice rarely uses this, due to the immense amount of mana required to maintain its form, hers is a unique case of one's inner world that manifested similarly to her father's. Thus, she chose to name it 'Paradise', just like her father named his. Originally, Alice's father had meant to create a powerful magecraft with the ability to cheat death, and when rumor began to spread of his work, a few desperate mages began to believe he was in possession of a Holy grail, in spite of there being no servants summoned. In theory, it was a rare chance for magi to win a grail through skill alone, needing only to rely on themselves. But in reality, what her father had ultimately done, was discover a way to manifest a reality marble, the culmination of his desire to revive what was lost. As such, it took on a nature eerily similar to Unlimited Bladeworks, however, rather than its focus on weapons, its focus was on an advanced form of projection. In the case of her father, it was often used to create convincing replicas of weapons he had seen, and/or done extensive research on. In the case of the latter, these replicas function more closely to how the caster imagines them to function, rather than how they realistically would function in practice. Alice's own version of 'Paradise' is nigh identical, with its key difference being the look and feel of her reality marble when it manifests. As opposed to her father's desolate landscape, her own reality marble is a warm field, with the sun shining down upon it. One in which she can freely summon nigh identical replicas of things she had observed and learned to mimic, or simply manifested through artificial means VIA 'imagining' a concept and manifesting it in a convincing way. For example, she may be able to manifest the ghost of a person she's never seen or met, but has studied intently about. This manifestation would not reflect how this person truly acts, but instead how she thinks and feels they would act. It is typically only in emergencies, or rare situations where Alice is supplied with an abnormally large amount of mana in which she will manifest 'paradise' in its entirety. Most of the time, she sticks to a combination of projection magic and wire constructs.
- Mana Drain/Calamity Cleansing; By binding her opponent with her wires, Alice is also capable of draining their mana reserves, which will ultimately reduce them to an unconscious state once the process is complete. However, through experience and practice, she has also made use of this technique to siphon evil/unnatural presenses from the target's body. This allows her to draw out evil and/or malicious entities from their host bodies, and into a temporary, corporeal form which can be either pacified or defeated outright usually without harming its host.
-
Counterforce Guardian; As her final, dying wish, Alice proclaimed her desire to prevent future tragedies like the one she bore witness to from transpiring, even if it meant she would fight an unending battle. This vow would in the end, form the basis for a contract with
Alaya, and thus becoming irreversibly connected to the counter force. Ever since then, she has become a unique kind of
Heroic Spirit known as a Counterforce Guardian. However, there are unique conditions which may allow her to be summoned as a servant, whether it be for a holy grail war, or for other purposes. Should the summon be made with the intent to prevent a tragic event that will result in the loss of many lives, and/or eliminate a unilateral threat to the world such as the emergence of a
beast class calamity, Alice will often be the one to answer its call. Especially if the summoner had possession of a worn, white ring her father had once given her, an old good luck charm she once had.
Bio:
Long ago, in a alternate version of
Fuyuki City, a young magus met with a beautiful, purple haired woman. The two would eventually fall in love, and move to the countryside, just on the border of the city. There, they lived a quaint, but happy life outside of the hustle and bustle of the city, though as the woman became pregnant with her first, and only child, she came down with a fatal illness.
Wracked with grief, the father would soon trade his infant daughter for what he thought was a chance to revive his lost love. And as he secluded himself from the world, starting on his ill-fated attempt to cheat death, his daughter would undergo many rigorous years of training and intense experimentation.
Though ultimately, the cruel truth was kept hidden from both him and his daughter; the woman the once young magus had met, and wed... Was a special homonculus crafted by the Einzbern family, destined to die after just thirty years of life, once her purpose of bearing a child had been achieved. The daughter he bore would become a powerful, living weapon, both the champion, and the ideal vessel of a Holy Grail War that could come in two decades. This daughter would be known as "Aliceviel von Einzbern".
18 years later, when the magus had become a feeble, yet determined old man, still desperately seeking to achieve the seemingly impossible... A rumor began to spread amongst the most desperate of magi, a rumor of a holy grail in possession of an old man that resided somewhere in Fuyuki City. All they had to do, was get to it first, and eliminate any competition in their way, all by themselves.
It would be a 'holy grail' war won by personal skill and strength alone.
Unknown to the other 5 magi that came to this city, Alice was sent in as well, told that she would need to recover a 'wish granting device' from someone in the city.
But during her first fight, though she just barely won... Her body was weak and battered. After all, she had been made to grow stronger with each foe she fought, as she began to learn how to mimic the mage-craft of her opponents. It was that first night in Fuyuki that someone found her, and took her into his care. A nondescript old man who ran a small, humble restaurant in the city.
Fortunately, he didn't seem to suspect a thing when she disappeared into the city streets each night, seeking out the 'wish granting device', and encountering four other magi along the way. After all, he seemed to have things to attend to as well.
Though with each fight, a pattern began to emerge, one that began with her first, tumultuous battle. No matter how hard she fought, nor how brutal of a resistance her opponent put on, Alice never could find it in her to kill her opponent. Instead, she would bring them home when they were barely conscious, and promise she would fulfill their wish for them, even though she had no idea how she would accomplish it.
In spite of over a decade of mental and physical condition, the Homonculi who had begun to call herself "Alice" rebelled against her creators, and swore she would find this 'wish granting device' on her own terms.
But after the 5th night, when she awoke from her slumber in the morning, she found not the familiar... Kind-hearted man who she had begun to see as her caretaker, and his restaurant he had run, as a home. But instead, a letter claiming the other magi were killed, by his hand.
That he would meet her at a place on Fuyuki's outskirts if she wanted the wish granting device she had fought so hard for.
And so... That night, she met him for the final time.
The once warm expression on his face turned into something more grim and icy as he confirmed the contents of the letter. He had killed the other magi when they were weakened by her to protect his shameful secret; the 'wish granting device' they had been told about, was not real. All he had managed to discover, through all his years of toil, was a reality marble. It gave him some brief respite, to be able to manifest it and by extension, his lost love as he remembered her, even if it put great strain on his body. However, he also realized it would only be a matter of time before others caught wind of his exploits, and mistook them for a wish granting device.
Thus, he hoped to kill those drawn to this city, and let the secret die with him.
Hearing this... Alice became overwhelmed with emotion... A mixture of grief, anguish, and a rage she had never experienced before welled up in her. And thus... She fought the man with everything she had, making use of all the techniques she had learned from her opponents, forcing this man to manifest his reality marble one last time.
As the battle reached its peak, and Alice manifested the largest construct she could muster, aiming to send it crashing down upon her opponent below, detonating it... Her anger subsided for just a brief moment, when she saw her opponent falter, the reality marble around her beginning to flicker and fade.
Though she couldn't stop her familiar anymore, she instead acted on instinct, lunging towards the man, and tackling him out of the way, weaving a powerful wire construct dome around them both.
Once the dust cleared, the battle seemed over, and the old man... With his last breath, smiled and confessed one final thing that shocked Alice to her core. He was her father... And all these years, he had wished to bring her mother back to life, so they could return to that quiet, happy life they used to have.
But in the end, it was a goal that could never be achieved, much like the 'wish granting device' she had been sent to retrieve.
In truth, she was meant to learn how to manifest a reality marble like her father, sacrificing her remaining parent to become the ultimate weapon and win the holy grail war that would take place just two years from now for the Einzbern family.
Her father would soon die in her arms, and not long after, Alice would feel her own body begin to deteriorate.
After all, she was a weapon that had failed in its purpose.
And the act of doing so, meant she was no longer needed by her family.
But as her body began to wither, she gritted her teeth, and made one final vow... Not just to herself, but to the world itself.
A vow that she would never let the tragedy that she witnessed these past six days ever occur again. Whether it be a real or fake holy grail war... Or a threat that will befall the world. She promised she would keep fighting, until the day such worries are in the past.
And thus, she forged a contract with Alaya, and became a Counter Guardian.
Though... As her duty seemed endless, and as her time as a Counter Guardian dragged on, part of her wished for a break of some sort. One that might just come to her... In the most unexpected of ways.
Other:
Though I am a co-gm, Alice is in her own right, part of the main player cast. This does not mean that she will not have a special role to play in the RP though...
