Zara's Park Tournament (Pokemon RP)

ChelonianCommander

Strength of Steel, Will of Iron
The Park is in a great bustle as a new batch of trainers arrived onto the park via plane, boat and helicopter. The latest and last batch of trainers had arrived on Zara's Park, much to Prof. Zizi's delight. Finally the 200 trainers have all arrived and were about to be sent off on their task to be Zara's Park's first Tournament Champion. Upon arriving the Trainers are frisked and patted down for illegal and restricted items. They are then given their own customary Gear Roster as well as the standard Participant's starter pack. The Pokemon they brought were registered to the Park's own system and after a brief rundown of the tournament and park rules, they were sent off their way.

Walking off the boat is a young teenage girl, around the age of 16 with brown hair and blue eyes, wearing a green t-shirt, a brown vest and yellow skirt with a Pidgey sitting on her shoulder. She wears a set of some rather glasses, which holds a hidden secret. A camera in the lens the girl uses to record and take pictures of the park from the moment she walks off her boat. Like the other participants, she was given her Gear Roster, a watch like object with a holographic projection. When she puts it on and turns on the watch, she is given a little prerecorded introduction by the Park Manager herself. Zizi stands in her lab and wearing her professor's outfit and standing in front of a holographic map of the park.

"Hello and Welcome to Zara's Park." She starts off. "You are the fourth and last batch of visitors arriving on the island and as such you have a bit of a late start, but do not worry! We have rules against stronger Trainers picking on weaker ones. Now you have joined Zara's Park's first Tournament for the chance to earn the title of Tournament Champion or earn a grand prize of 5 million cash! Perhaps both, or perhaps neither. It doesn't matter, as long as you're here for fun. Remember, the real reward's in the journey, not the destination." The Gear then zooms into the holographic map. The map shows a rough route of the park. "Now here is your route through the park. Through this route you shall travel through all the biomes of the park, and meet many amazing pokemon, battle dozens of trainers and have access to all the Park's amenities. Now your first destination will be Nomad's Plain and the settlement of Newman Town. Now gear up and I hope you all have a wonderful time Trainers. Good luck and good fortune." The gear roster turns off and the girl rolls her eyes and continues onward.

Stepping off of the boat that had brought him in from Sinnoh, Jared stretched out his body, taking a deep breath that mixed the sea he'd be leaving behind for the more urban smells of his current settlement. Scratching his head a little as he listened to the opening instructions on his gear roster. The gear roster itself was interesting, definitely not like the pokedex he was used to, but similar enough for him to not be completely hopeless with it.

Kovu, the Shinx that walked alongside the musician, nudged his leg and looked up with excited eyes. Jared smiled and gave Kovu a scratch behind the ears, it reminded him of his early days with his first ever pokemon, a Torchic he named Locke. Locke would look at him with that same excited expression, it always got him pumped for an adventure. "Ok, buddy. Looks lets go find a store to stock up on supplies. Looks like a two day walk to our first settlement." Giving a meow of approval, Kovu and Jared moved off into the Fairgrounds proper.

Stocking up on supplies cost Jared about half of his starting PC. A tent and sleeping bag, along with a first aid kit, the 3 for 2 special on canned pokemon food and a batch of rations for himself. The Fairgrounds themselves were pretty interesting, the closest comparison he could find to describe it was some city in Unova that he'd heard had a famous theme park, though to Jared's disappointment, the gym leader hadn't set up shop in one of the rides.

After he was satisfied with his exploration, he found a bench that was close to the exit to his first route and sat down, Kovu hopping up next to him. He wanted to start this journey off right, and began strumming a little tune on his bass guitar. In our world, some would've recognized it as the bass line to "Under Pressure" by Queen, but to these inhabitants, it was merely an upbeat tune aimed to build excitement. Kovu seemed to be enjoying the music as his head bopped up and down to the beat quite adorably.

Dylan tossed a safari ball into the air, catching it on the way down again before repeating. He couldn't help the rather large grin on his face as he stared out at the Fairgrounds. Sure, it wasn't the wilds but it was the start of something. Something that would hopefully fix his problem.

Sam barked up at him from his side as he was fiddling with the Gear, tail wagging. "Yeah, you're right. Let's get moving." Dylan murmered as the duo began to make their way down and into the Fairgrounds, looking for the shopping district to start. Dylan wasn't actually at the point where he could understand Sam, but as he watched the excitable little puppy run around sniffing everything he was pretty sure he didn't need to at the moment. Making there way into the store, Dylan cracks his neck. Time to get to work.

A few hours later they duo emerged with a pleased Dylan and a decidedly grumpy Sam, who had needed to be reigned in over thr course of the shopping spree. As recompense, Dylan got Sam a Zigzagoon plushie for a PC. It was a pretty big waste, but the moment the Poochyena's eyes lit up was worth it.

On top of the plushie Dylan had purchased a first aid kit, two medi-potions, a tent, a sleeping bag, pokemon food and the ration package, for a total of 17 PC including the plushie. He wasn't exactly looking forward to eating the rations or giving Sam the canned food, but until they made it to a place where the appropriate berries could be found (and not charge them for 1PC each, yeesh) he guessed the duo would have to make due.

Glancing down at Sam, who was happily squeaking his new toy, Dylan checked the map on his Gear. "Right. I think we should head off. A bit tired from the shopping, but most of it is in my backpack and there's still a few hours left until sundown. Let's go!" He says as he picks up the pace, Sam trotting alongside him.

Passing by a musician seated on the bench, who had a... shonx? Shinx! That was promptly sniffed by Sam before the pokémon turned away, the duo began to make their way out of the fairgrounds.

Once out, Dylan felt himself reinvigorated as he and Sam (Plushie still in mouth) began to sprint away from the town, the little poochyena struggling to keep up with his longer stride. Looking around, Dylan decided that it was time to get into the swing of things. He continued to jog his way further into the Fields, looking for a pokemon.

Riley scraped her wild hair back into a ponytail, perched on a bench somewhere in the middle of the Fairegrounds. She could hear the impatient jingling by her side, and looked to see little Bella, staring up at her with narrow eyes. Riley chuckled, reaching over and offering her hand to the pokémon. If it had been a person complaining, then she would have been way less friendly about it. Bella jumped into her open palm, and Riley stood, picking up her backpack.

She had already bought all the supplies she thought they were going to need; a ration package, three pokémon food bundles, a sleeping bag, a tent, and a universal aid kit, meaning she had 5PC to spend, until she won some more at least. She had almost bought a massive pink bow for Bella, but the glare the little Chingling had given it was enough to put Riley off. Maybe she would grow into that kind of stuff.

The daycare owner pulled her fairly light bag onto one shoulder, turning her wrist to look at the map on the gear. She wanted to get started; like Professor Zizi had said, they had a late start. She glanced over the map, despite knowing exactly where she had to go. Newman Town, in Nomad's Plain. Battle there, then move on. It would probably take three or four days, maybe five if she was unlucky. She didn't plan on it, though.

Her route in mind, the blonde woman set off on the path out of the Fairgrounds, wrist constantly jingling from the Chingling that had wrapped itself around her.

As Dylan jogged through the outer areas of Nomad's Plains, he is greeted by his first Pokemon Encounter. A herd of Skiddo is spotted close by to the Fairegrounds. The herd of around 7 Skiddos were grazing peaceful as 2 of the Skiddos were on watch for any threats to their herd.

Glancing at Sam, Dylan doesn't stop running as he bends down to pluck the plushie from Sam's mouth. Sprinting forward still, he grins before letting out a shaput and waving his arms into the air. There is an immediate reaction as the Skiddo's leap into action and begin to make their way away from him, with the two guards remaining and turning towards Dylan and Sam.

Pointing his finger towards the Skiddos, Dylan looks at Sam. "Let's go mate! First battle here, we can do this!" He shouts cheerily at Sam as the Poochyena steps forward, growling and with his tail puffed up in an attempt to make himself bigger. Rearing back a little, Sam letd out a [Howl] at the Skiddos.

@TheGreenerGrey

The Two Skiddo sized up their opponents, braying and making mock charges in an attempt to scare off the threat before attacking. The rest of the Skiddo back off in preparation to run as their guards made sure their enemy kept their distance.

Ribbit the croagunk scampers ahead, stopping from time to time to croak enthusiastically at the visually impaired trainer tailing her. Patty was starting to regret not bringing a leash of some sort for the croagunk. Sure, she could hear and follow her pokemon well enough as it is but why did this croagunk have to have so much energy. Patty was excited too, but more than that she just wanted to take her time navigating through the Fairgrounds.

But then again, Patty supposed it must have been just as frustrating for the croagunk to have to follow around quietly as she went about with shopping. The croagunk had already been itching to explore ever since the introductory video. Patty could tell from the croaking and ribbiting. It wasn't even much of "shopping" in Patty's opinion though. She'd just bought the basics for survival - 3 packs of pokemon food, 2 ration packages, a sleeping bag, a tent, a medi-potion, and a first aid kit. That left her with 6PC.

"Ribbit? Can you slow down a little?" she calls out. The croagunk stops, gives a loud croak, and waits for her trainer to catch up. Patty catches up and gives her pokemon a pat on its smooth froggy head. She crouches down to have the croagunk look at the map on the Gear Roster for her while she listened to its text-to-speech function. In the past she had travelled with friends whom she could trust. And perhaps she had taken that for granted because now she was feeling a little unsure about this. Not that she didn't trust her croagunk.

Finally she gets up and this time walks ahead of her croagunk (that's the cue for Ribbit to follow) and towards the guitar music. She stops before the musician and spoke with a polite smile. "Excuse me, is this the exit to the Fairgrounds?" Couldn't help to check with someone else first.

"Right, let's do this." Dylan says, more to himswlf than Sam. Looking at the situation, he decides that holing up for a small while would be the best idea. "Sam! [Howl] again, then make your way to the left!" He calls out, thw Poochyena puffing up just before letting out a noise far deeper and more ferocious than expected. Looking at the poochyena, Sam somehow seemed more... vicous, than before.

The Poochyena then made his way to the left, his Quick Feet guiding him through the low cut grass as he observed rhe Skiddo. "If they charge, get out of the way and use Ice Fang!" Dylan calls out, body still ready as he watches the Skiddo. Even as relatively weak pokemon, they cpuld still be dangerous.

@TheGreenerGrey

Seeing as how the enemies didn't back off, the Skiddo began to attack. The first charged forward in order draw the Poochyena's attention, as the second attacks with two vines that sprouted from it's grassy collar to whip the Pokemon.

"Keep the close one between you and the other!" Dylan calls out as Sam dashes to the right, dodging an attack of the vines before countercharging the closest skiddo. Just before the two collide however, the Poochyena's teeth begin to glow a bright blue as he ducks to the side, getting out of the way of the charge as he bites into the left side of the Skiddo, ice spreadinf across its skin.

The first Skiddo was critically damage by the super effective ice fang, but the two weren't out just yet as the second Skiddo took this opportunity to attack once again. It's collar turns green and the Skiddo throws its head back and forth, firing off several glowing razor leaves at the Poochyena.

"Get behind the Skiddo!" Dylan calls out. At his command, Sam dives to the side of the Skiddo he has been biting. The enemy Skiddo blocked the brunt of the attack, however a few leaves broke past where Sam's body wasn't covered, slicing at his nose and legs.

"Dodge and weave to the left! Get closer and use Ice Fang!" Dylan calls out as Sam left the cover of the Skiddo and made his way to the left, going serpentine as his Quick Feet carried him towards the second Skiddo, teeth glowing a frost blue.

@TheGreenerGrey

The Razorleaf strikes the first Skiddo, as the Poochyena uses the Mount Pokemon as shield. The razor leaf had an unexpected result however as the attack seems to have strengthened the Pokemon. The Poochyena leaves the cover of the first Skiddo and dodges the razor leaf as it charges forth towards the second Skiddo. The first jumps to its feet and it's horns turns green before charging towards the Poochyena from behind. The Second Skiddo reacts in kind to the first, and uses its Vines to entrap and ensnare the Poochyena.

Sap Sipper! Dammit, Dylan should have known! Of course, he hadn't had much experience with Skiddos but it was dtill a grass type. But now isn't the time for this. Sam was in trouble. Dylan knew the small pokemon wouldn't be able to escape the vines in time, so that left one other option.

"Sam! Use Sand Attack on the charging Skiddo, then finish it off with Ice Fang! Show it what true power looks like!" He calls out, hoping that the Howls earlier would come through.

@ChelonianCommander

@TheGreenerGrey

The Charging Skiddo was charging forward, but was struck in the eyes by the sand. The Skiddo trips over its legs and falls into the dirt, sliding forward right up to the Poochyena. The Skiddo looks up just as the Poochyena bites down with its Ice Fang, freezing the Skiddo completely and taking it out of the battle. The Second Skiddo saw it's friend go down and tries to finish the battle by using Razor Leaf against the ensnared Poochyena.

"Use Bite to tear through the vines! You can do it!" Calls Dylan. Immediately Sam sets to work, tearing off the vines even as the Razor Leaves arrived, striking him with the full brunt of their force before Sam could escape. Chewing his lip, Dylan watched as Sam slowed a little, cuts appearing all over him as the leaves slashed at him. It was fortunate that he had avoided taking much damage, or this fight would be over already at that.

Once he escapes, Sam cowers down a little, whimpering as he looks at the Skiddo, then back at Dylan. Realising the problem, Dylan's face softens from where it had been frowning in concentration. "Hey buddy." He starts, getting closer. "You don't have to do this if you don't want to." He says, stopping just as the Skiddo looks at him.

For a moment it looked as if Sam was going to run back towards Dylan, away from the pain, before the Poochyena let out an uncharacteristic growl and spun to face the Skiddo, disproportionate fangs glowing icy blue once again as he swiftly closed distance, letting out a cry as he went to bite the Skiddo.

@ChelonianCommander

The Skiddo was still rather hostile towards the trainer and pokemon as the Trainer told the Poochyena they could end the battle right there if they wished. The Skiddo didn't wish to fight anymore and seeing as it has dealt a good amount of damage to the Poochyene, it lowered its guard and turned to leave. However it heard a growl behind it as it left and stopped to look right as the Poochyena bites it in the neck, through its color. Freezing the area that it has bitten. The Skiddo brayed in pain and helplessness as it tried to push the Poochyena in vain.

A cry from Kovu shook Jared from his reverie as he played his music. A girl with a kind smile and a Croagunk approached him, asking for directions. "Sure is. Me and my partner Kovu here were gonna head that way ourselves once I finished this song. Guess that means you're here for the tournament too. I'm Jared it's nice to meet you." He stood up and held out his hand for a handshake. The lack of a response to the hand prompted him to notice the cane in her hand.

"Pardon me for asking, but are you blind, Miss? If so, me and my buddy would be glad to help you around. Kovu's a Shinx by the way." As he mentioned the little cat-like creature, he gave a meow of approval and jumped down to sniff the Croagunk curiously.

Sam held on to the Skiddo as the frost crept over it, the Mount pokémon's struggles slowly weakening until stopping fully. Letting go, Sam couldn't help but wag his bushy tail despite his exhaustion as Dylan picks him up in a tight (but not too tight) hug, spinning a bit and showering the little pokémon with praise.

"You did great buddy! That was amazing! You beat two of them! I'm so proud!" He says cheerily as he withdraws Sam's pokeball. "Here. I'll let you rest for a bit until we make camp and I can treat your wounds. Oh, i'm just so proud!" He says, almost like a mother as the Poochyena is drawn into the ball.

Humming cheerily, Dylan glances at the two downed Skiddo before shrugging and continuing on his way. He didn't exactly have much time to make it to the next town and unless he found whatever this place's version of a Tropius was he would need to move fast before he ran out of food.

Continuing on, Dylan made his way across the fields.
