Approaching the lakes Zeke looked around he needed to choose his den location. He sniffed the air it was thick with the scent of Sabers a clear sign that they had been using the den area recently he wasn't sure if he felt safe in this location and looked around harder. Before long he noticed a spot he felt could work. Moving in the direction of the glacier and towards the steep sides of a rock face he started to climb the unstable side. Rocks slid as he struggled for a good foot hold climbing slightly up he then turned towards hi right and moved sideways on the shifting rocks. His goal was to reach a wolf sized opening above a thicket of bramble and trees and large rocks below.
After Reaching the Opening Zeke wiggled his way into it. His breath hung in the air slightly as he took deep breaths the scent with in the den wasn't strong but smelled a bit like the crisp air outside. Now that his eyes had Adjusted to the darkness within the potential den he realized it was much larger inside than the opening indicated.
His tail held high Zeke Ventured into the cave and followed a few twists and turns he would sniff the ground as he went the scent of water filled his nose after a while and he wondered if he was at the opening once again. Moving through the area he noticed water dripping steadily creating a stream from a formation of rocks it was cold and clean when he lapped at it. Looking at the direction the water was going it flowed left to right it disappeared around a large bolder that seemed to glisten in the darkness. Shaking his fur he stepped over the stream and continued walking through the little cavern.
Once he reached the end of the cave he realized this potential den was large enough for the entire pack with multiple branches off the main Tunnel. he had come across a few spots that if he squeezed himself he could go deeper but hadn't found any spots that seemed overly dangerous. But he also didn't look down every side area nor did he squeeze himself into every nook and cranny.
Returning to the opening of the den he looked around and perked up his ears. He would claim this location as his own and if anything threatened the pack he knew they would have a fairly safe den location that everyone could retreat to, if it came down to it.
The steep sides made the way to get to this den important as it also meant that most creatures wouldn't raid it without many challenges on their end if the wolves were constantly defending it. Shaking out his fur he started to create the path up to be more secure for wolf transversal. so they wouldn't slip or fall he hoped.

Roan looked around, exploring the new territory a bit. She sniffed the air catching the Alpha's scent. She then followed it soon finding herself below a cave. "Alpha!" she called up to the cave. "I know you are more than capable of protecting yourself but you should always have someone with you." She grunted as she climbed up into the cave and then she paused. "This.... would be perfect for the pack. It's easy to defend and everyone would fit up here!"

Looking at Roan as she climbed up to meet him at the den entrance he gave a nod and looked back inside. “A few very tight spots are inside the den. It smells as though no one has been inside of it for a very long time the air is fresh but there are spots that it smell very stagnate.” he admitted. Zeke stretched out a bit and gave a slight yawn. He looked back towards the lakes and tilted his head to the side and raised his ears. “Ever wonder if the territory shifts we do are worth it?” he sat down and looked out at the lakes and pulled back one ear listening behind him. “I mean this territory we have is huge we have to split our time among the entire territory in to two year spans. Some of us may never see our birth territory again once we leave it.” His ear twitched slightly. He questioned the reason often before the alpha before him died, “I apologize Roan I didn't mean anything by that It just confuses me.” He knew a few stories from the past but he knew they were just that stories. He had never felt they were anything more than fiction. Things he could witness, feel, and sense; all of these he knew was real.

"I honestly wouldn't know. I haven't been with the pack long enough to have an opinion on it." She looked at him wondering how hard it must be to be Alpha. Making all those hard decisions. And he was right, most would not see their birth place from all the moves. "What confuses you Alpha?"

" if our pack used to be more packs why did we choose this weird method of survival" Zeke turned and walked back towards the den and shook out his fur slightly. "Let's take a closer look at this den."

Zeke shifted and turned to re-enter the den. "Roan, let's see if we can find any other entrances to this den. I did a quick walk through before but a few spots I didn't feel venturing though alone would be smart if my tail got stuck." He lightly wagged his tail in a semi playful way.

Leading the way towards a very tight area he sniffed the ground and tried to look around it a slight cave in had blocked off a lot of the tunnel and he seemed to be seeing if a spot could be easily accessed. finally giving up he started to dig at the spot. "I'm just going to open this up a bit more to try and get through." He explained his claws assisting him in digging but not as well as if he were a creature that was actually good at digging.
a rat spooked out from the other side of the cave in and scurried past the wolf as he focused on getting through the block

"Roan I'm almost through here." He lifted his head and shook out his fur and looked up at the ceiling of where the cave in came in from. the hole was big enough to just squeeze through to the other side. the air smelt stale and Zeke gave out a snort. his ears perked forward his thoughts wondering if the area before him was safe to go through. not allowing his concern to get to him he crouched down and started to wiggle his way into the darkness on the other side. his paw slid over a smooth surface and he glanced down his eyes adjusted to the darkness well and he tiled his head a bone white and long lay at his foot. he moved it to the side the bone was old and extremely heavy for any animal he knew he shook out his fur and looked back towards the opening he had created. the fresh scent coming through the opening gave him relief. though this side of the cave in was far colder than the side he was just on Zeke didn't know what he was thinking he'd find. He looked around the large area columns were formed all over. some oddly had bones sticking out of them as if what ever had died before had become part of the cave over the decades. dried stalactites and stalagmites seemed ghostly in the area like fangs waiting to close upon him. his ears pulled back as he looked around the area.
Raising a paw to move further into the cave he scented a smell that felt off. Musty odor that he hadn't smelt when he first entered this section caught him off guard. the fresh air from the area he had opened had started to circulate now. He followed the scent towards the furthest reaches of the cave and froze. One paw mid step his ears forward his tail raised and his eyes intensely looking ahead of him. What he looked at he couldn't describe and he stared unbelievingly at the body of a wolf. though it seemed to have sunk into the ground at the back of the cave slightly the fur was still upon the wolf the scent of death hadn't yet became evident. (the temperature in this part of the cave is about 20 f) The Wolf's eyes were closed and it didn't breath no signs of life came from the rusty brown wolf before him. the wolf had a deep gouge on it's side that seemed to have been the cause of why it died. Zeke shook himself from staring and finished his step he called back. "Roan uhh could you join me."
Noticing behind the wolf that had died from a wound that was deep several small balls of fur lay out behind it. turning around he looked at the bones in the room many of them he could now see had many traces of once being wolf to them.
His ears pulled back as he looked back and forth waiting for Roan.

Onyx sat along the base of the woods along with a few of his fellow scouts. They were on watch while their two superiors explored the potential denning area. He, once again, started to wonder about his actions if the event rises. He couldn't help these thoughts as he hadn't had a serious, life-threatening fight since he was a pup. He wanted to make his pack proud but was unsure if he actually could maintain such demand. His ears pulled back at the small echoes of sound from the cave behind him. He glanced over at another omieron a few feet away from him. They seemed intent- almost too intent. He assumed they were rambling in their own heads at well.

Onyx curled his tail around his legs and straighten his posture. He was determined to maintain his composure even though each slight crack of a twig or crunch of a leaf left him uneasy. He gently rocked his weight, more used to his duty being that of movement. He felt small sweat beads formed just at the base of his fur from the previous run. The harsh sun wasn't exactly ideal for a wolf of his thick pelt. Onyx also felt a tinge of relief, that of leaving the volcanic denning area to one with breathable air his body could enjoy.

She scurried to keep up with her alpha. "Alright, I'm coming." Even though she was much thinner than the Alpha she found herself having a hard time getting into places. She did not like the fact that when they went through a hole the smell of fresh air disappeared. She held onto that scent, whenever it returned, as she struggled to be in the cave. The walls felt like they were getting tighter around her. Roan shook her head. She had to stay strong to protect the Alpha. She bent down to sniff the bone he went by, she got no smell off of it. It made her wonder how old it could be. She looked up and was amazed with the structure of the inner workings of the caves. She sniffed at a bone that stuck out of one of the columns. Her eyes blinked in fascination at the stalagmites, almost looking like a puppy. Roan turned to see the Alpha farther down the cave. She had obviously missed a signal from him. She took her time to catch up to him, until she heard him call for her to come to him. When she reached him she froze, her eyes widening at what lay before them.

Seeing Roan he looked back at the dead wolves and shook out his fur. “This den was once a wolf den before. If we claim the den It should bring honor on the pack that lost their lives here.” he looked back at the area he had dug through to find what was behind it and started back towards that area. “But we should also Leave them in peace we will rebury the entrance to this section of the den.” Zeke's mind tried to remember the stories that were passed on through the generations but couldn't remember any of an entire pack that vanished. Shaking out his fur as he reached the crawl space he had created. Lowering himself down and squeezing himself through the makeshift tunnel and getting through with some effort. He turned and tilted his head as he waited for Roan wondering if he should tell the entire pack about what they had found or if he should just block it off and restrict the area completely.
Turning to look around the rest of the area with a quick scan he perked his ears forward and then back. A worry entered his mind and he sat down. 'what if the pack in this den was punished by one of the gods? Would my pack being here also anger the gods?' He knew stories of the three wolf gods but hadn't believed in them fully but seeing what he had seen now drove him to question his belief.

Urderviel layed the farthest away from the den. Scared out of his wits. He chewed on a small bunny that he had caught, tearing a large chunk from it and lying back down.
