And today is... National Tortilla Chip Day! And... no, that's it. Just chips. So off you go, go get yourself some chips and dip, or perhaps make one of those taco dips, yourself, or a taco salad. I never liked taco salad with chips, myself. By the time you reach the chips at the very bottom, you've already eaten all the taco part at the top, and you are stuck eating dry chips all by themselves.
Welcome to National Banana Bread, Dog Biscuit, and Tile Day! Also, WORLD Spa Day! So today, make your pooch a dog biscuit out of banana bread while admiring some tiles? And do not forget to give yourself a spa! You can make your own spa at home with some simple things from the store, like face masks for one or two dollars, a salt foot bath, and perhaps a fizzy bath bomb. Enjoy!
National California, Cook a Sweet Potato, and Margarita Day! Today is the day to eat sweet potatoes and sip margaritas in California. Unfortunately, I don't live in California, and I don't like margaritas, but I do love sweet potatoes! It is a good source of Vitamin A, B-6, C, and magnesium! No, a Yam and a Sweet Potato are NOT the same thing despite Westerner's insistence on using the names interchangeably.
Hello, National Cherry Pie, Love Your Pet, Muffin, and Comfy day!! Today is a wonderful day of eating muffins and cherry pie while loving on your pet in complete comfort. It does not get much better than this! Unless you are allergic to cherries, I suppose.
Welcome to National Caregiver's, Tartar Sauce, Chocolate Mint, Lash, and Vet Girls RISE Day! Caregivers tend spend all their energy giving to others and none to themselves, so encourage the caregiver in your life to take a pamper day with some chocolate mints and getting their eyelashes done. Finally, Thank you to all the female veterans all over the world for doing their best to make the world a better place.
Happy National Battery Day! Time to change the batteries around your house, like the smoke alarm. Drink Wine Day! Please only if you are of legal age in your country, and I actually really don't like wine. Best of all, CRAB STUFFED FLOUNDER DAY!! Which I have never had, but it sounds delicious. So change your batteries then reward yourself with a crab-stuffed flounder dinner and a glass of wine.
Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, as well as National Cabbage Day and National Random Acts of Kindness Day! National Random Acts of Kindness Day originated in New Zealand where it is celebrated on September first as well as other days of the year in other places, but the fact remains that random acts of kindness can - and should - be done any and every day of the year!

The cabbage man from Avatar the Last Airbender is cheering this post and snuggling with his cabbages on this day.

Perhaps today's act of kindness could be either giving him more cabbages or perhaps saving his cabbages from that cursed airbender.

Or maybe giving him a cabbage cart that senses when danger is coming and moves before its cargo is ruined.

And it's good to be alive...
But everything's different since we all died...
Today we observe Fat Tuesday, Almond Day, Do a Grouch a Favor Day, Fastnacht Day, Paczki Day, and Pancake Day! Fat Tuesday is a primarily Catholic holiday that marks the end of the celebrations before Ash Wednesday with Roman roots, Fastnacht is similar but German, and Paczki is the Polish version and involves doughnuts! Pancake Day is curtesy of IHOP and raises money for charity.

My personal favorite celebration on this day is Do a Grouch a Favor. I think we all know at least one person who is the grouch of the group, so how about showing them a bit of kindness today? Maybe you'll see a sweeter side to the grouch. :)
It is, of course, President's Day, but it also: Gumdrop Day, Wisconsin Day, and Singles Awareness Day! Singles Awareness Day reminds us that there is no shame in being single, and, it is healthy for a community to have a good number of single folk. Not all singles need a matchmaker, some just need to not feel like the extra wheel. So go give a single person in/from Wisconsin a gumdrop today!
Other than the obvious - V. Day - today is also Cream Filled Chocolates Day (very appropriate), Ferris Wheel Day, and Organ Donor Day! I can't say I'm much of a V. Day fan, myself. I don't hate, it's just... a day. It has about as much impact on me as Ferris Wheel Day, so I prefer to think of it as Pink Halloween. Now, tomorrow when the candy goes on sale... Then I LOVE V. Day.
Happy National Tortellini Day and Cheddar Day! I actually did not know what a tortellini was until I looked it up. Those are tasty! Also, happy Global Movie Day!! Have some cheddar tortellini while watching a classic old movie today.
Happy National Plum Pudding Day! Also, No One Eats Alone Day! It's another positive initiative focus, this time from nonprofit "Beyond Differences," aiming at school lunches and inclusion... I didn't really understand the explanation given. More importantly, HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!! WELCOME TO THE YEAR OF THE OX!! I hope Hatsuharu does a good job.
A lot to cover today. National Inventor's, Make a Friend, Peppermint Patty, Shut-In Visitation, White Shirt/T-Shirt, Giving Hearts, and Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day! (Yes, that last one is a thing.) Spilled Milk Day celebrates positive attitudes in the face of adversity, White Shirt Day commemorates a historic autoworker's strike, and Giving Hearts Day focuses on fundraising for charitable organizations.

Sometimes, It is really hard to fit everything into these little boxes. Today, I didn't even have room for my punchline! So... Get out there and invent something with a new friend that will raise money for some worthy cause, all while wearing a white shirt and eating peppermint patties and helping shut-ins maintain positive attitudes! That's a lot to do in one day.

Today is National Home Warranty Day! Such protection. National Umbrella Day! So useful. National Cream Cheese Brownie Day! Yum, now you are talking! The brownie has been around since the 1800's, but it made its first official appearance in The Boston Cooking School Cook Book in 1906. So be sure to check your home warranty while eating a brownie under an umbrella.

Then you are always in a properly celebrated mood. ;)
Welcome to the National Days of: Pizza, Toothache, Bagel and Lox, and Safer Internet! One of those sounds a lot less fun than the others, but hopefully, you can eat a bagel and lox for breakfast then enjoy pizza the rest of the day while practicing safer internet. Did you know approx. 100 ACRES of pizza are eaten each day in the US? That's about 4 billion pies yearly and 23 pounds of pizza per person daily.
