Appearance:

First word when one looks at Virginia could be ‘fragile’. All about her looks like she might turn into thousand pieces in one touch, even her moves are careful, her touch is like that of a bird’s wings. Her skin is pale to the point of seeming almost see-through, and usually with little to no makeup on - not that she would need it much, her big, brown eyes are surrounded with long, dark lashes and her lips seem naturally soft.

Virginia dresses simple too, considered her profession. Not to say her clothes aren’t well kept or untidy, she always dresses neatly even at home, around no one else except herself and her hounds. When around the town, her curly, warm brown hair is pulled up on a neat bun, but when she’s around home or in the woods she prefers to keep it braided.

Her smiles are quick to appear and fade, but there’s definitely sense of humour and wit about her, and one shouldn’t judge her solely on her appearances.

Personality:

As ‘fragile’ as Virginia might seem, there’s more to her than that. A clever young woman who knows how to handle money and situations to her own benefits, she’s the type of person to survive and thrive in difficult situations - and get dulled and slowly fade away when things get too comfortable. And so she keeps herself sharp, training to become a better seamstress and have her own shop one day, spending her time off in the woods at her family’s hunting cabin.

Her passions in life are of course her dogs, four German Pointers, shorthaired, called Lewis, Levi, Lulu and Lucy, they’ve been there for her since her father’s death, companions at home, protectors, and hunting partners in the woods. Her appreciation of animals goes further than just her dogs, she loves all animals and even when hunting tries to give her prey the most humane death she can.

In love Virginia has been unlucky, to say the least. There has been few men in her life, most of them after her fortune and getting scared off when she makes it clear they won’t be getting any of it. Perhaps one or two of her male friends have been potential lovers, but nothing serious - nothing going past holding hands at least.

Background:

From the very young age, Virginia was forced to learn how to take care of herself. She was born into a well off family of Brewers, in a house that had everything she needed, to parents who fulfilled her every need and dream she might have had. Even though they already had three sons, Virginia was loved and doted, not just by her parents but her brothers too. True, they gave her hard time sometimes but it was all done with love.

That is, until their mother passed away. Lady Katherine Brewer had been sickly most of her adult life, but giving birth to her last child had really made her turn from bad to worse. The house turned quiet at her passing, curtains were drawn to the windows and laughter stopped. Virginia was only six years old, and couldn’t understand why. The man of the house, Sir Harland Brewer focused solely on his work at the local factory, and the children were brought up by their nanny, Miss Dosett, a good, honest woman who didn’t spoil the children rotten while still giving them the love they deserved, love they weren’t getting any more from their own parents.

Virginia’s brothers were all older than her, so one by one they got married and left the house, all except the oldest brother, Victor, who would be the one inheriting the house. It almost turned him insane, staying in the house where his father was a ghost of the man he had once been, with dark curtains still covering the windows and pictures of his mother hanging all over the house, on every wall, as a reminder. Like a saint. He argued with his father for long, and the argument kept draining them both until Harland died too. There were rumours about his death, about a dead body hanging from the big, old oak at the back of the Brewer mansion’s lands. Whatever the truth was, the house was finally free. The curtains were drawn once again, once dark rooms were filled with light, but the light nor all the cleaning could wash away all the memories of those dark years.

Virginia was fifteen when Victor left her with the mansion, taking a good amount of money from the savings and fleeing to the other side of the world. And even still, there would’ve been enough to keep her happy and fed for the rest of her life, if she’d live sparingly. That wasn’t her style of living though, and so she started as a local seamstress’ apprentice at the age of sixteen, living alone in a huge mansion with half the staff there had been before, both unsure what to do with her future and determined to make herself happy again.
