Prehistoria - Legend of the Dinosaur Knights

"Darklanders?" Oko yelped, taking several paces back. He looked even more nervous at Humber's assessment.
"D-do you think they could still be around?"
Lani examined the bits wound on the dinosaur more closely. "Unless your village is harboring tyrannosaurs, I doubt they did this. The diameter of the jaw is really big."
She stood back again and looked the scene over once more, listening to Averill speak. "You mean go to an entire village of people like you? Pass."
Just then the trees began to rustle further down the road, the distinct two-step sound of a carnivore could be heard...a big one.
"Get off the road!" Lani called. "Now!"
Oko did not need telling twice he dove for the thick under brush, squeezing himself through the large plants instead of crushing them, hoping to leave as small a trail as possible. They went down a small slope and came to rest where the roots of a tree created a small overhang that shielded them from sight off the road.
Lani waved the others down beside them.
The single set of footsteps turned into two and Oko held his breath.
"I thought we weren't coming back for the dinosaur." One voice complained loudly.
"Shut your mouth. There could be patrols."
"Nah, impossible. The guards are all back in the city keeping the pinkies in line for their stupid sun celebration."
Lani chanced a quick peek upwards and her blood turned to ice. Two tyrannosaurs were hovering over the dead dinosaur's body.
"Heheh, won't they be surprised when they figure out what we've got planned."
"Quiet you moron, or Cinnabar'll eat you instead of him." There was a soft thud as one of the tyrannos kicked the body roughly. "Let's just get this back like we were told."
There was a good deal of rustling as between them they hefted the sauropod and began to carry it off.
Once they were out of sight Lani slumped against the tree roots before looking to her companions.
"They're planning something...but what do we do? Go back and tell the elder?"
"Uh...yes!" Oko said, "as if there's another option."
"...We need to know more about what they're planning. If we go back without knowing more we risk going into their plan unprepared."
Oko looked shocked. "Did you hit your head?! If we get caught they'll tear us apart! Literally!"
Lani turned to the others again. "What do you think?"

Averill cocked her head at the redhead. "My village does harbor tyrannosaurs," she stated calmly. "Actually, I'm being really nice compared to the rest of my village." Suddenly Averill picked up the sound of footsteps.

"Get off the road!" Redhead called. "Now!" Gaeilge immediately was next to Avery as the brunette used her companion as a boost. She leapt up a tree as Gaeilge hid behind a large rock. The girl was crouched among the branches, her bow loaded as she pointed her arrow at the approaching dinosaurs. The two tyrannosaurs exchanged words, dragging the sauropod away. As soon as the two dinosaur were out of sight, Averill jumped down from the tree, landing lightly on her feet.

"I vote we go spy on them," Avery stated. "Sorry, Oko, but if you don't want to get ripped to shreds, then don't get caught." As soon as the brunette finished speaking, Gaeilge's thoughts entered her mind.

We both know you're going to spy on them no matter what the others say, he thought, amused.

Spot on, Gaelic.

Ludger was the first of the pair to hear the foodsteps. Humbert wasn't paying attention as he was more preoccupied with cleaning his hands of the blood. Ludger hears Lani call to hide. Seeing as his partner didn't hear the order. Ludger took action and grabs the back of Humbert's shirt and pulls him into the brush, with the others. Humbert was rather angry at the fact that he was quite literally pulled aside by his partner.

"What was that for?" Said Humbert, but he was quickly shushed by Ludger.

"You might wish to reconsider talking for a while." Thought Ludger, keeping a close eye as two Tyrannosaurus appeared on the scene. Humbert's heart dropped when the two stomped on the scene. Instinctively he reached for his bow and arrows, in case of anything bad, but any sort of confidence he had left him as he watched as the beasts talked in what sounded like monstrous growling to him before dragging off the dead dinosaur with incredible strength. His hands wouldn't shot sweating and shaking as the creatures left. Once the creatures left, Humbert hunched forward and vomited due to his own fear.

"We need t-to tell the elder, the knights, whoever! We can't stop these creatures alone." Humbert replied while wiping away the bile

"I agree with Humbert. If we attempt to spy on them it could end badly for all of us." Added Ludger.

Averill cringed as the boy threw up in fear. "Pull it together," she stated calmly. "By the time we get to the elders, we'll lose track of the tyrannosaurs." Averill thought for a moment. Compromise, Gaeilge's thoughts entered her mind. Avery was mildly surprised. Why? she shot back.

So you can get what you want faster. Do it, Gaeilge practically commanded her. Avery bit her lip in annoyance, scoffing a little bit.

"How about this," she suggested. "If you want to follow them, follow them. If you don't want to follow them, alert 'the elder, the knights, whoever!'," Averill quoted the boy, almost sarcastic, "and tell them that we're around this area." Avery finished speaking, a short silence falling among the group. The silence in Averill's mind was short-lived. I'm proud of you, sweetheart, Gaeilge thought sarcastically. Averill rolled her eyes.

Shut up, peaches.

At mention of going to the young girl's village, Genissa cringed in fear and dread. If they were even a little like her, she didn't really want to be around them. How does a village even survive if all of its people were unwilling to work in teams? In her deep thought, she was a little slow to react to the sound of huge feet. When she did react, it was only because Camu grabbed her in her beak and practically tossed her out of the way, over the underbrush and into a sort of empty area behind it. Genissa was able to regain her senses and crawl into cover before she was spotted. Camu couldn't quite get into the bushes in time, but her camouflage-like colouring kept her hidden well enough to avoid spotting. Genissa peered through gaps in the roots, whole body trembling in the shadow of the huge beasts.

Once they were gone, she crawled towards Camu, watching carefully in the direction of the dinosaurs, in case they came back. Camu slowly lifted herself up. They both eyed Humbert hesitantly, not sure if they should go and comfort him or something along those lines. They decided to keep their distance, wearily watching the path that the carnivores had walked. "If they're planning something, we've got to know what it is," Camu said.
Genissa nodded in agreement. "I mean, it could be a festival of their own, or it could be a full out attack. We can't take the risk." She said. "If we go back and report, they might already be coming to fight." She said.

The pale girl looked up to the sky with a long sigh. Why couldn't they have recruited a pterodactyl to help? A fast enough flier could report and be back in seconds. She looked back at the group, when Averill began talking. She squinted at the girl, not appreciating her sarcasm or mocking. Camu tapped her tail on the ground irritably, calmed only by Genissa's gentle poke in the stomach, reminding the green dinosaur where they were. Genissa looked around the group. "Who's the fastest here?" She wondered aloud. "If they were fast enough, maybe they could go back and speak with the elders whilst the rest of us follow them?" She offered. "Then you would catch up easy enough," she added.
