Name:
Charlotte Lindsay
Nickname:
Charlie
Age:
22
Height:
5'11
Role:
Mentioned by name in prompt one, so prompt one female stranded on the car roof
Personality:
As a person, she tends to be very loving and nurturing to those around her, although she deals with any personal conflicts alone. She's usually very laid back, but in high-stress situations, she can get impatient and anxious. If you want the truth you go to her; she doesn't like to waste time sugar-coating her words which can turn some people off of her. It takes a long time for her to place her trust in anybody because she worries that she will lose them. Nobody really knows about her past pre-group. They all know that she lost her family, but she never shared the details or how old she was when it all happened because she doesn't want to be pitied by anyone. Outside of her blunt words in response to most situations, she's a very warm person. Before everything happened, her friends would rely on her for advice and sometimes joked saying she was like their therapist which made her feel loved and like she was doing something right.
Background:
Charlie was 14 when the outbreak finally took over the world which means for the start of all this madness she was with her family. It was through this familial situation that she was shown hard choices had to be made for the survival of the many. When her dad released her dog she was so mad that she tried to sneak out and get him back herself, not thinking how much danger going out would put her in. Luckily her father stayed up that night, and, when he heard her screaming in the backyard, he was able to run out to her and save her from the few walkers that had made their way into the yard. That was the day she understood that survival wasn't just going to be given to them; they needed to fight to live. It wasn't until she was 18 that she ended up totally alone.
Her parents went first. Both of them had gotten sick, bite-free, but before they turned Charlotte and her brother shot them as they had asked. It was a hard day, and while she was 16 her brother was only 12. She couldn't imagine how terribly the whole thing affected him, and in the two years they were together following the death of their parents were only filled with arguments. Her brother took to anger to cope, and she took it, all of it. If him shouting out her made him feel better she wasn't going to stop him, hell she would've let him beat her up if it meant she didn't end up alone. That was her biggest fear, and shortly after what was thought to be her 18th birthday, her brother went out alone, wanting to bring back something for her that she didn't have to risk anything for. When he came back he was scratched and bitten, and the next day she had to give him mercy. Suddenly, just like she had been so afraid of, she was alone which meant that anything she did was not only higher risk because she would have no one covering her back, but everything was a lot more zombie-filled. It wasn't until she was 20 that she had come across the man she saved. the first person to join her and start base. Those two years alone taught her a lot and made her more reluctant to open up; she worried that if she got close to anyone losing them would kill her even more on the inside. If she pretended not to care then life wouldn't take them from her
Strengths:
Charlie is a strong runner, and she has over-all a strong lower body which means if she's out with someone and there's a beam of heavy fence/gate/garage type door that needs to be held up she will do so using her legs instead of her hands. She also has leadership skills which are very important when running your own group, although she doesn't like to be told she's the leader because she wants everyone to feel even in the place they've created for themselves. Combat wise, she's skilled in hand to hand combat due to the training she did in high school, and she's a damn good shot if she's in a non-dire situation. Good at tending to low-level wounds because she used to be accident-prone -- she's gotten better.
Weaknesses:
She's not very good at balancing. Needless to say, she is clumsy which means she just has to be more cautious of where she steps if it's possible to check where she's stepping. She also has a lower upper body strength which means if something involves pulling herself up fully or mostly with her arms, she will need help doing so. She thinks that she can and should deal with every personal issue she has alone as to not burden anyone else, even the man she's so close with.
Preferred weapon(s):
Glock 42, Shotgun
Least used weapon:
Knife
A rule they came up with for the group:
Never travel alone.
