I usually start with a generic concept of what I'd like to see in a character. Sometimes, I'll see a picture on the internet and create a character around that.

I don't watch much anime, but I do like two series: My Roommate is a Cat, and Grimore of Zero. The first is very chill, and the second has a fantastic magic system and an interesting world.

I tend to work with a lot of characters as I make a new one for every RP (or at least I used to, not sure if I'm going to do that now). I am currently only interested in trying out two characters, Chrys and Gray, but if they don't fit into any RPs... time for new ones!

I like the near-instant feedback, being able to bounce ideas off another creator, and experimenting with things I might be uncertain with in a "less serious" setting. For example, writing in a setting I'm not familiar with, or perhaps trying out a new kind of character.

I live in the upper western part of the USA, and I would actually go... to Alaska. Yes, it's technically a part of the USA, but to me, growing up, it's always felt like a strange, foreign country. I'm not sure why, but I would like to go and visit Canada on my way there. Maybe a road trip.

I started ages ago on some game site that wasn't set up for it, but a friend talked me into trying out this weird story/writing game/technique thingy. I had no clue what they wanted me to do. :p Ended up loving it.
